Ipod on iphone 3gs

Good morning to all. When in I tunes my albumn covers appear. But when I go to iPhone and scroll through music I have no albumn art. Any help? Thanks

I downloaded iOS4 on my 3GS this morning. Was working fine. Downloaded one song from itunes and two free apps. Now, the entire phone keeps restarting after 5-10 minutes. This includes the ipod, games, calls, etc. The screen will go black and then apple icon shows up. Yesterday, I was not experiencing this problem. I have reset the settings, etc. and have tried everything short of restoring the phone (but the phone will not stay up long enough to restore). I tried transferring the purchases, etc. as you described and will test. Will you please post if this continues to work for you?

I had that happen but it was because it was a low signal and just iPhone could pick it up. Is the signal high? Paul

How can i take the music off my ipod touch/iphone 3gs and put it on my itunes account without deleting the music

You can transfer purchases from your iPhone and iPod touch to your computer and it will put all music, apps, books, and other purchases or downloads made in iTunes onto your computer. Or you can sign into the iTunes Store in iTunes on your computer and go to Purchases > Not on This Computer > Download all for each tab across the top.
If you have any music that was imported from CDs to your Dad's computer, you'll need to import those to your laptop. When you sync your iPhone, it will erase all the music on your iPhone and replace it with the music in your Music Library. If you have all of the music that's on your iPhone on your computer already (by importing CDs and transferring purchases) you won't lose anything.

One or Two ITunes Account? -- Own both iPod Video & iPhone 3GS

I've just bought an iPhone 3GS (this is my first iPhone, so everything is new to me). I also own an iPhone video, which I bought a couple of years ago. My question is, do I need to set up two different iTunes accounts (i.e. a new a/c for my iPhone, separately from the a/c I've been using for my iPod video)? I cannot imagine using the same account for two different devices... maybe it's possible, I don't know. I have lots of podcast downloads and also movies on my iPod video account. I'm afraid of messing it up. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have one account and an iPhone, an iPod Touch, and 4 other iPods. iTunes recognizes each as a separate device and I can select the sync options I want for each. I don't do any manual management. I select the playlists I want on each device.

IPod on iPhone 3GS closes after 1 second

Believe it or not, I have not used my ipod on my 3GS since I got it 6 months ago. I downloaded my first podcast and tried to open the ipod app but it closes after only 1 or 2 seconds. There is nothing I can do to keep it open. I went to settings to see if there was something in the ipod settings that looked like it might need configuring but I could not determine anything wrong there. I also tried rebooting my iphone. That did not help. Any suggestions why my ipod closes suddenly and how I can fix that?

Try doing a soft reset on your phone. Just press and hold the sleep/wake button and the Home button at the same time for 10-15 seconds (just ignore the slider) and just let go once you see the Apple logo. You won't lose anything on your phone, by the way. :P If that didn't do the trick, go ahead and restore your phone. Just make sure you backup everything to iTunes before restoring.

Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

Iphone 4S won't back up on itunes, but ipad, ipod and iphone 3GS will.

I took delivery of my new iphone 4S on Friday and am running the latest iOS and latest version of itunes and the phone restored from the back up copy of my 3GS with no problems and is working great.
I have just tried to back up the 4S on itunes (as I usually do weekly), its syncs ok but then I get the error message:
"itunes could not backup iphone because an error occurred"
I have tried deleting previous back ups, deleting the lockdown folder, backing up on another PC and pretty much everything suggested here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2529 apart from reinstalling itunes but it still won't back up and throws up the error message. If I plug in my ipad, ipod touch or old 3GS they all back up immediately which is leaning towards me thinking there may be a problem with the phone rather than itunes.
I have been able to back up via iCloud so I'm not too worried in the immediate future however I do like to keep an iTunes back up as well (for e.g. creating a .csv file of messges etc
Am a bit stuck now and am not sure which direction to go - do you think a restore would change anything (I assume a restore from iCloud would put the phone back to how it is tonight after the iCloud back up so not sure if this will change anything, (I have always backed up to the PC in the past so have no experience of iCloud back up processes) or should I make an appointment at the genius bar? Googling just seems to come up with what I've already done.

Open iTunes and go to Edit>Check for Updates. You'll need to be running at least XP SP2 or later to update to version 10.7.

Last Played tagging with iPod on iPhone 3GS

Thanks to Allan and Spaceman Spliff for their useful advice on my previous question.
I have another one, and one that has bugged me quite a bit since getting the iPhone. Whenever I use the iPod on the iPhone, I get no Last Played tagging. Let me see if I can be clearer. If I use the iPhone as an iPod (at the gym, say) and then take it to work and look at the Last Played tags, there aren't any. It's as if the iPhone/iPod does not put any Last Played tags. The tags work if I play the iPhone/iPod songs through a computer, but not if I use the standalone iPhone/iPod. I use Last.FM to scrobble my songs, and if there are no tags, there are no scrobbles.

I definitely see this with podcasts. It's harder to be sure with AAC files.
I believe this is a fairly longstanding bug.
It's extremely annoying. It does mess up my smart playlists.

About 20% of my music no longer works, or plays the wrong song on ios5. Always worked before since original iPod and iPhone 3GS on iOS 3. Problem with same songs on both iPhone and iPad. Mostly MP3s but also on some PURCHASES.

If anyone else has lost this IMPORTANT and very BASIC functionality on their device too, please post. If anyone can suggest anything beyond syncing again (taken music off and back on 3 times now, some songs persistently don't work, other songs randomly start failing and then work after either a device restart or syncing again) or converting all these songs to AAC (again, it's not just MP3s that aren't working) - which would mean losing my import dates, play counts, rebuilding playlists and still not being able to guarantee any improvement in the functionality of the devices - please help!

How do I transfer husband's iPod Touch apps, settings, contacts, music to my old iPhone 3gs

I have an iPhone 3GS and have upgraded to a 4--my husband wants to use it as an iPod Touch. How do I get his stuff (music, contacts, notes, mail, etc. that is backed up both on iCloud and iTunes from his iPod Touch) to the 3GS?
We each have our own iTunes account and I've backed up everything to his iTunes and to his iCloud...I have erased the iPhone tried setting it up for him as an iPod Touch. When prompted to backup, I selected "backup from iTunes"--it says the device can not be recognized. The 3GS is running the most current iOs.

How can I set up an inactive iPhone 3GS as an iPod?

I have an inactive iPhone 3GS that has been restored to factory settings. I can not seem to get past the setup screens without putting in an active sim card. I don't have a sim card to put in it, nor do I want to put one in, I only want to use it for an mp3 player.
Is there a way around the set up screens? Can I use this expensive piece of equipment I OWN?

I'm pretty sure the only you can activate it is by putting in a sim card. This is just for the intial activation part. Once that is done you can remove the sim card and use it as an ipod.
If you don't have a sim you could try borrowing one from a friend? It's only temporary and the whole process will only take a couple of minutes

I'm tired of wasting battery on my iPhone 4 to listen to music, so I wanted to use my old iPhone 3GS as an iPod. I read you had to have a sim card inserted in the phone, regardless if it's activated. So I put the old one inside, but when I connect it to my computer, it won't charge, or sync with iTunes. It's definitely not my charger because both of my phones charge in a wall outlet, and my iPhone 4 charges through the computer. Just not the iPhone 3GS.... I'm going on vacations with long car rides and would like to use this. Help please!
