Ipod on Iphone onlys plays parts

I have an iphone 3g and the ipod part, it only plays a few secounds of a song. any idea why?

try rebooting your phone. press the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the apple icon appears. is this still happening?
if so, try restoring your phone. i have not had to do this, but i'm sure there are a ton of posts on how to do this. worst case, Google is your friend.

  • IPhone 3G played through MINI iPod Adapter on Saturday; however, on Sunday

I have a BMW adapter in the glove compartment of my MINI Cooper S 2003. It was installed by the factory. It worked with my iPod photo, my iPod Touch, and my iPhone 3G on Saturday. Today it stopped working. It may have not charged the iPhone 3G on Saturday, but it played through the stereo and it sounded better than the iPod classic. On Sunday it stopped being recognized when connected to dock port on the iPhone 3G. My IPod classic still works and same with the Touch. I tried it in Airplane mode, plugging it in prior/after starting the card. I am at wits end. Please help.

Folks, it appears an adapter may soon be on the way.

Ridax, a company that sells various iPod Dock Connector accessories, has begun taking pre-orders for its iPhone 3G Charge Converter. The small accessory, the design of which is still being finished, will allow iPhone 3G owners to use older iPod and iPhone charging accessories that are currently incompatible with the 3G to charge the device by converting the power stream to suit the iPhone 3G. It will feature both male and female connectors, as well as a mini USB connector on the side to provide a way to charge the device when connected to a non-charging, Dock Connector-equipped accessory, and will also function as a short Dock extender. Ridax’s iPhone 3G Charge Converter will be available in September for $40; those who want the device sooner can pre-order a $45 “bare” version which will ship in August, followed by the plastic cover which will arrive in September. There is no guarantee that the converter will be safe to use with all accessories, so use caution in ordering.

  • IPod on iPhone 3G won't play in my car after iOS 4 upgrade

I have a 2010 Hyundai and my iPod played fine w/ the use the the Hyundai iPod cable until I upgraded to iOS 4. I used to get the airplane mode warning but once it went away it always played fine. Now instead of the airplane mode warning I get "This device is not optimized for use w/ this cable... blah, blah, blah". I then get a message on my stereo's monitor that my iPod is empty. I have not had a problem playing my music otherwise though, with either my ear buds or just through the phones speakers. I wish I had never upgraded now.
Anyone else having this problem or have any idea fixes?

I am experiencing a similar issue to you.
I have an Oct 2009 Hyundai i30 with a factory option ipod control cable which previously worked perfectly and allowed me to control my 3g iphone's ipod function through the factory head unit of the car, I could select albums, artists, individual songs, playlists etc. Now, after upgrading to ios4 I connect my iphone to the car and I get the new badge message "This accessory is not optimized for use with iPhone blah blah blah". That's fine, I hit dismiss and expect the previously available functionality. However, my iphone will play, but I can no longer scroll through anything on the head unit anymore. I can see what is playing and I can shuffle the library but that is the limit of the functionality through the head unit.
Before the upgrade I was able to scroll quickly and efficiently through say, the list of artists and choose one, then choose an album and pick a song. Now, I have to choose something on the iphone (before driving off) and then plug the phone into the car to pipe the music through the system. Having said that, the car now has to be running first, before the phone is connected for it to work.
I have tried the following to correct this:
+ Connect phone to car, hold down sleep/wake and home buttons for ten seconds, wait for apple logo, wait for phone to boot - same behaviour as described above.
+ Start car without connecting phone, choosing AUX on the system, holding down sleep/wake button for a while until slide to turn off comes up, then slide to turn off. Wait until phone is off, then connect phone to car - same behaviour as described above.
+ Sync phone to itunes again, reboot phone with sleep/wake and home button, then connect phone to car - same behaviour as described above.
This really *****. Sadly, I know, I'm not offering a solution to the problem, but as I have something, I'll post again.

  • How can I get my stereo to play music videos from my Ipod Nano?  It comes up with the message "This device not supported".  Strangely my Iphone IS recognised.  The stereo, Ipod, and Iphone are less than 4 months old. Any suggestions welcome!

How do I get my Ipod to play music videos through my theatre system?  I keep getting the message "This device not supported".  My theatre system WILL recognise my Iphone however.  The theatre system, Ipod, and Iphone are all less than 4 months old.  Any suggestions welcome!

Check with the theater system vendor and see if their system is compatible with the Nano. The resolution on the Nano may be too low for the system.

Now it's Wednesday (2 days since I originally posted) & my iPhone appears to have finally restored all my apps, but it still says it's restoring from iCloud backup.  If all my apps are restored, what else could it be restoring?  IS it actually restoring anything at this point, or is it still in 'glitch' mode???  I've tried turning it off & back on & it continues to say that it's restoring.

  • My 5 year old iPod classic will not play on my Yamaha CRX-332 cd receiver but my 3 year old iPhone 3g will.  Any suggestions to get my iPod to read the receiver or get the receiver to read the iPod?

My 5 year old iPod classic will not play on my Yamaha CRX-332 cd receiver but my 3 year old iPhone 3g will.  Any suggestions to get my iPod to read the receiver or get the receiver to read the iPod?  The receiver should be able to play the iPod with a USB connection or with the iPod dock.  Neither works with my iPod however both work with my iPhone 3g.  The iPod has the latest software.  Any thoughts?

If it is a 5-year old iPod, there is the possibility that the receiver simply won't work with the older software (there hasn't been an iPod Classic software update in years). You might try contacting Yamaha support (or doing a google search) to see if it is a known issue. One solution (probably the easiest) is to get a cable that connects a min jack (i.e., a headphone jack) to stereo cables, and just connect the iPod up that way. You eliminate the risk of corrupting the iPod, and it is a solution that should always work. Just use a wall charger to power the iPod.

  • My 2nd generation ipod touch won't play on my new speaker dock but my iphone does

I just purchased a new speaker dock for my ipod touch but when I dock it it shows it's charging but no sound comes out of the speakers. When I dock my iphone on it, it plays fine and I know the ipod touch works because it plays on my old speaker dock.

You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
Many vendors when they are updating apps for iOS 5 have droped support for iOS les than 4.  It could be that the dock manufacturer is not support earlier iOSs and/or the 1G iPod.
I went to nadelectronics.com and only found the:
    - VISO 1 which did not really say anything about compatibility.
    - NAD IPD 2 Dock which said "Compatible with all current iPods and iPhones.  The 1G with iOS 2.x may not be considerd current.

  • Problems playing music on iPod and iPhone 5

While playing music on my iPod or iPhone 5, some songs suddenly stop playing. The progress bar keeps moving as if it is playing but the audio stops. Songs play fine on my computer in my library. WTH?

Is this songs purchased on iTunes Store or were imported by a CD?
If the songs were purchased by iTunes Store, you should try to download it again, maybe it was a trouble when the song were processed!
You should give it a try!

  • Is it possible to Sync an iPod (or iPhone) with a Shared Library?

I know this is a silly, basic question, but 6:30 AM is just too early for me to keep digging for the answer.
So, I have several computers at home. ONE of them is used to purchase and store all of my iTunes music. This same computer is used to sync several iPods. The entire library on this computer is shared. Two other computers in the house are Authorized on the same account and regularly play music stored on the "first" computer.
    So here's the rub.
My duaghter just got a new iPhone. She has her own MAC. I'd like her to begin using her own computer to sync her iPod and iPhone.
Is it possible to sync her iPod and iPhone using HER computer (that is authorized on my account) and MY shared library?

I don't think it is possible to sync an ipod to a shared library for copyright reasons. Sharing is great and simple for accessing and listening to other computer's music over a network, but to sync your ipod - I believe can only be done from that particular itune's music library. But here's how I work around this so that I don't have to have my 90 GB Music Folder copied on multiple computers:
Copy these files from your main computer (the one that has and controls your master itunes library) into the same location on any other computer on your network (say your daughter's computer): user/music/itunes/iTunes Music Library.xml & iTunes Library. Before copying them over to daughter's computer, remove the old files (maybe keep somewhere else just in case) and have itunes shut down. Then start up itunes on your daughter's computer and it should look identical to the main computer's itunes (and the same as the shared library). What you've esentially done is created a separate itunes library data base that can be managed on your daughter's computer but one that accesses the same actual music files that are on the main computer's Music Folder. To check go to Preferences/Advanced and you'll see that the Music Folder location is pointing to the same file as on the main computer (whose Music Folder is now being used as a sort of network music despository). You'll notice that when your daughter's computer starts itunes and plays a song, the main computer's hard drive where the Music Folder is stored will mount on her computer. So the main computer obviously has to be turned on, or more accurately, the location of the Music Folder (could be on an external hard drive) must be accessible over the network. Your duaghter can now create her own spearate playlists and sync her ipod to her own library which is accessing the same song files (Music Folder) as the main computer. And both of you can be playing from itunes at the same time independantly.
Here's the tricky part that takes some coordintation: Since you'll both be accessing and adding to the same huge Music Folder, you'll need to coordinate with eachother if you want to be able to have each computer's itunes database "see" any music that the other person has added or purchased. For purchasing or adding music to the music folder, both of you should have in Preferences/Advanced the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" selection checked when purchasing music or adding music via burning. If your daughter, for example, buys an album and has this preference selected, then it will go to the Music Folder and she will have access to it. But the other computer doesn't know that this was added to the music folder and it won't show up in that computer's itunes. For itunes to knwo a song is in it's Music Library it has to add it to it. SO, from this other computer, go to File/Add to Library and navigate to the location within the Music Folder and then select the newly purchased album and it will now show up in this itunes as well - BUT before you do this you should UNcheck the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" preference so that the album is not duplicated in the Music Folder. Then if this computer wants to purchase an album, you need to have this checked again. Basically if your doing the original adding you have to have the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" checked. If your simply letting your itunes know that something was added then have the "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to Library" unchecked before you add it to your library. And if someone creates a playlist that the other wants, you can still share eachother's libraries (even though your accessing the same Music Folder) or even export the playlist and import it into the other computer.
Sounds tricky but it's actually pretty easy and allows each person to sort of control his/her itunes and sync their own ipods/iphones all from the same Music Folder.

The iPad 1 can't run the newer operating systems. It'd be like trying to play a bluray disc in your 6 year old dvd player....it simply lacks the hardware to make the software run.
No suggestion about the camera, but given that Apple's attitude seems to be to focus more on the more mobile devices for photography (the iPhone and Touch cameras got features, the iPad and mini didn't), that is highly unlikely. You can tell Apple what you want, but you'd probably be money ahead to get a digital camera.
as to the photos, anything put on via iTunes has to come off via iTunes.Your main alternative would be to look for photo apps that offer file exchange that may give you more functionality.

  • My iPod touch is not playing through my stero

My iPod touch 4g is not playing through my stero. My stero has a dock that you can plug in your iPod or iPhone and you are able to select music to listen to. My iPod used to be able to do it but now it won't. My iPod shows that it is conected, but everytime I try to pres play on a song it will not play through the speakers of my stero. It does say it is playing, but it is not playing through the speakers of my stero. My steros speakers work just fine. It did however play my dads iPhone, so I know it is just my iPod touch.

    No good.
