IPod on the computer
I'm trying to hook up a friend's iPod photo to my computer that I use for my iPod Video. His iPod won't even load into iTunes, or come up as *Removable Storage Device* in my computer like mine does. What gives? How do I load his iPod onto my computer?
Their iPod may not be up to date with the latest software.
What do you want to do after you connect it and it is recognized? iTunes will want to delete everything on the iPod...

How can I transfer songs from my IPOD to the computer?
I had a computer issue and some songs in Itunes got erased, they are however on my IPOD still. I used to get a message that askedme if I wanted to transfer music that was on my IPOD to the computer and the answer was usually no - so i clicked the box "Dont ask again" and now I need it. Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!
I had a similar problem. Download a program called "Yamipod" and it will allow to copy the music back into iTunes. I did it with about 5300 songs and it worked fine. Keep in mind the program runs off the iPod, so no installation on the computer is necessary.

Just got my computer back. How can I reset my itunes so it matches my IPod settings? I have my favorites and files on my IPod that I want to keep and when I try to sync it gives me the option to erase and sync with computer. How can I sync without loosing any music or files at all?

- Make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer. Right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.

I plugged my iPod into the computer and it says that my iPod is synced with another iTunes library, but it's not. So all my music and apps are gone. What can I do to remind the computer its the right iTunes library and get all my stuff back?
Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

Is there a way to get music from your iPod onto the computer?
I recieved most of the music that is currently on my iPod from my cousin, but if i want to add some of MY music to the iPod then i have to erase all of her music off of it! Is there a way to save the music that is already on there and then put it back on the iPod once it has been erased?
First of all try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here. -
How do i copy music from my ipod to the computer
Since i've gotten my ipod touch i have dowloaded music from my computer to my ipod. I restored my computer back to factory settings since then, now when i plug my ipod into the computer to get music my ipod doesnt recognize my computer and its giving me an altermatum to either delete the music already on my ipod to put more music on it, or cancel synchronization. I want to copy the music from my ipod to my computer that way if i do pick the first option i will still have my music but i dont know if it's even possible to copy music from your ipod to your computer. Someone please help me??

I just upgraded to itunes 11, and all the music that was in the itunes library dissapeared from the itunes library, and Im freaking out!!!! However, the music that was there, is still on my ipod, so I was thinking that i can just sync it from my ipod to the computer.
there was a time where i didnt have REAL music on my ipod. I would go on youtube and record it under voice memos. How stupid was that?! anyway, my music from another itunes library is there, and like i said, its not even music, theyre voice memos! how do i get rid of those and put the music thats on my ipod back in the library? Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

When I plug my iPod into the computer, itunes won't come up on the screen and my iPod is not recognized anymore and it use to be. Please help because I can't sync it at all because it won't show up as a device on the right hand side of itunes.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs

Is the iPod still singed into the account isn Settings>iTunes and App Stores and SettingsZ>iCloudl? If it is then I would not be concerned.

For the other "problem", go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says Prevent iPod....automatically syncing. -

I have changed computer and my ipos wants to erase and sync to an empty list on the new computer. i don't have the music thats currently on the ipod on the computer. How do I get it across? Tried through drive directory but it does not recognise all the music. My old lap top is dead, cant even boot it up. Itunes was one of the things I didnt rescue.. Any suggestions?
You'll need the help of some sort of third party software such as CopyTrans or Phone to PC.
