Ipod only partially transferring purchased songs to library.

Hello --
I recently experienced a hard drive and backup failure. I'm trying to transfer my purchased music from my ipod to my itunes library. It transfered most of it, but there are 74 songs that it says were not purchased with an account authorized on my computer. I have my account and my husbands authorized. I have not synced my ipod with anyone else's computer and these songs are not songs that my husband would even listen to! All of these were purchased with my account. What to do?

You need to copy them from the computer you purcahsed them with to the other computer. You can use CD/DVD, external hard drive, flash drive or network the computers.
ALso how do I guarantee that all my purchased and downloaded songs stay in my itunes account
Songs don't "stay" in your account. They stay on your computer and on your backup disks. If you get rid of your computers befefore you make a backup of your songs, you will lose your songs.

I made the mistake of resetting my iPod to factory defaults. Now it will only partially sync to my music library. I continually get an error message saying that certain songs are not authorized for my computer, although they are in the iTunes library on the computer and will play. It's these songs that won't transfer to the iPod. I have deauthorized and re-authorized the computer but no joy. Any ideas?

    Hello there DesertRat71,
I was thinking that some of the songs in your library may have been purchased under a different apple id. You have already done the first thing I would have done by de authorizing and re authorizing. To verify this, highlight one of the songs that will not sync over and use File>Get Info. Here is the help menu link for it if you need it help://bookmark='https://help.apple.com/itunes/mac/11.0/help/index.html?localePa th=English.lproj#itns2937'
In the Summary section there will be an Apple ID entry. If it shows something different than what you are currently using then I recommend signing into the Apple ID it shows and authorizing the computer for that one as well.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Why can I only see my purchased songs and not my entire library when I use an ipad?

Why can I only access my 'purchased' songs when I sign into an ipad with my AppleID.  How can I access my entire itunes library (purchased, playlists and downloaded music)?

If it's iTunes purchased music then you might be able to re-download it on your iPad via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app - it will download into the Music app. If you want your other music from your computer's iTunes (e,g. music copied from CDs and playlists) then you will need to sync it from your computer's iTunes to your iPad's Music app.

    Hi Le Etta,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
Take a look at the article below, it provides details and instructions for multiple ways of moving the music from an old computer to a new one.
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4527
    Method
    Considerations
    Home Sharing
The easiest option, as long as your new computer is already connected to the Internet.
    External drive
Requires additional hardware but backs up your iTunes library.
    Transferring purchases
Fastest, but only moves the content you purchased from the iTunes Store. Also requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod with the content on it.
    Windows Migration Assistant
Works best for migrating from an old PC to a new Mac, and transfers more than iTunes.

  • IPOD ONLY SYNCING CERTAIN PURCHASED MUSIC!!!

So, my iPod will only sync certain purchased songs. Is this weird?
Out of all my purchased songs my iPod will only sync about 1/4 of them. All of my songs were purchased & downloaded within the same day... so their should be no difference in the ones that are syncing and the ones that aren't. Right?
    PLEASE I NEED HELP!

Try playing one of the affected songs for a few seconds in iTunes.
Do you get asked to authorise? If so, and if you do, do the songs transfer next time you sync?

  • Transfering purchased songs from ipod

When I hit File<Transfer purchased FROM ipod
I get this: 100 total problems
could not be copied to ipod because they could not be found?
Thats not even what I asked!! I asked to transfer the purchased songs back from the ipod back to my itunes library because I lost 100 or more of them when I bought a new computer, and tried to pull saved library off EHD.
I have tried some free download copy programs, but I can't get them to work either.
    Thanks, Tracy
    Thanks for the help

Did you look on the external hard drive to see if the files are still there somewhere?
When you plug in the iPod, do you get a notice telling you the iPod is not synced to this library and then offering to allow you to transfer the purchases?

  • I had my shuffle synced with this computer and library. then i went and did it with an older nano. now my computer is not recognizing my shuffle. how do i fix this without losing my purchased songs or library?

i had and old nano that i havent touched in years. well just recently i synced my new shuffle to my computer and all went well. i then wanted to put the newly purchased songs on my nano. well when i did that somehow my computer no longer recognizes my shuffle. not to mention someone cut me off the other day and my nano went for a swim and will not work. please help me

    Try this:
Right clicking on your ipod in the device list an d choosing "transfer purchases" will copy apps and bought media from iTunes to your computer. Due to the new iTunes library on your new HD, iTunes will erase your ipod during the first sync. To save your data to the computer take a look at this article about saving data from your device to a computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
Basically it's backing up manually, transferring her purchases (apps and bought music), letting iTunes erase the ipod due to the new iTunes library, and restoring from the manual backup again, to get all the data and settings back.
Make sure your new computer account is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • My computer broke and I bought a new one, installed i tunes and synced my I phone but it only synced my purchased songs(100) and I still have 400 songs on my I Phone, when I try to re sync it wants to erase all the 400 songs on my device

My Computer broke and I bought a new one, re installed I tunes and synced my I Phone 4 but it only transfered 100 purchased songs into the library and I still have 400 songs on my I Phone, but when i try to re sync it wants to erase the 400 songs on my device and replace with the 100 songs in my library. I have authorized this computer with this device but I can't deauthorize the old computer because it's boken. I emailed tech support but they told me to manually transfer the files but it only transfers from the library to the device, and I need to transfer from the device to the library.

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
The iphone is not a backup device.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • Missing purchased songs in Library

    Hi there,
after i purchase an album, i only can see this in my purchased songs, but i cant find it in my library/mediathek. There is no entry.
    Can anyone help me ?

The "purchased" playlist is automatically generated only when purchases are made on any particular computer and those purchases are automatically added to it. It is not a Smart Playlist that automatically picks up old purchases if you transfer the library to a new computer. You can easily drag-n-drop anything you want into the playlist, though.

  • 30 GB Video iPOD won't sync purchased songs from iTUNES.

Previously, on the same computer, I have synced purchased songs from my Itunes library to my iPOD. Now, suddenly, an error message says that I'm not authorized to do so. I use my computer in two countries, the US and Taiwan, and wonder if this has anything to do with the problem. I've already restored the Ipod and reloaded all the songs. The purchased songs still appear in my library but will not sync.

Have you tried Deauthorizing then Authorizing your computer through the Store menu in iTunes?

  • 1st Generation iPod Shuffle not receiving Purchased Songs on a Win Vista

I authorized this new computer to iTunes.
I then tried to copy 30 purchased songs to this Vista Machine as part of a playlist of about 60 songs.
The non-purchased songs copied. The purchased ones will not copy, either as a group or individually. When I try to drag a songs, all I get is the icons showing a prohibited movement.
What do I need to do to move these purchased songs to my trusty old Shuffle?
    Thanks.

I'm in the same position but worked out a fix.
Go into the Shuffle settings on iTunes and untick, 'start iTunes when this iPod is plugged in' but also tick, 'enable for disk use'
Eject the Shuffle, close down iTunes.
Now, when you plug in the Shuffle, it'll appear under Computer on the desktop as a removable drive and from there, you can right-click it and eject - bingo, LED stays on unblinking.
You may get a message from Windows, 'error on this drive, it needs scanning' or similar, but I ignore this now as when I scanned it, it seemed to mess up the Shuffle in iTunes.

  • Ipod only plays non-itunes songs...

Anyone else have this issue or know how to remedy it? My ipod skips every song EXCEPT for those I did not download on my itunes, rather had sent to me via email or uploaded from a CD. What on earth? Email me, if you have any ideas/suggestions... thanks!
    sarah
    [email protected]

First, make sure you've played these purchased songs in iTunes before you transfer them to your iPod.
If you've done this and they still skip, de-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then to re-authorize it. You do this by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store in iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, then the computer will be authorized again. Sync you iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes (4.9).

  • IPod only updates around 80 songs - then goes dead

    What to do...
My ipod mini only uploads around 75 songs and then slows down in uploading taking up to about 10 minutes for one song. When it reaches around 80 songs it cuts out.
I've reset my ipod, uploaded the new software and such to no avail.
    Can anyone help...please?
    ipod mini   Windows XP

You could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can also work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater.
First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
If you need to, reset the iPod to exit disk mode.
