Ipod or nike ipod issue

Hi all. I have a problem with my ipod and don't know if it's the ipod, the usb, the nike receiver, the nike sensor or what. I turned it on today to do my workout. As usual, the voice told me to walk around to activate the shoe sensor. But nothing activates, the ipod says, "No Sensor" and everything on the ipod screen is frozen. Can't even turn the ipod off. So I disconnected the nike receiver, tried to connect to my laptop with the USB and resynch it, but still everything is frozen. Any ideas - now it seems like an ipod issue - not just a nike sensor issue. Thanks much for any advice.

I have same problem. I complete 2 or 3 a day but the ipod only keeps info for the last workout. So when you download onto Nike+ you lose all but the latest workout. I can find no way of saving individual workouts on the ipod (3rd generation) at the end of each workout. Nothing on the Apple website on this.

My iPod touch Nike ipod sensor is not working. Please help. I even walked around when it asked me to. Also I have latest version of iOS. PLease help

Update: I seem to have fixed the problem!  I went to the "summary" section of my iPod after clicking on the device on the left side of iTunes.  I checked the box that allowed me to "manually manage music and videos" and applied this option.  The songs are syncing!  And, yay, they're playing on my iPod now!  Hopefully, this helps anyone else who might have this problem.  There might be other issues, but this is working for now.

  • Nike + iPod WatchRemote issues

I have the new iPhone 3GS.
I have the Nike + iPod WatchRemote.
I DO NOT have the Nike + iPod Sensor.
I am able to link the WatchRemote to my iPhone 3GS just fine.
I have turned on the Nike + iPod feature and am able to navigate to the application icon and open the app.
HOWEVER, I can't seem to be able to control music with it!
I press the play/pause/next/previous buttons and they do nothing!
While in the Nike + iPod application, I can't launch a workout b/c I do not have the sensor. Could it be this is preventing me from controlling the music?
I would have expected to be able to just use the WatchRemote to control the music without having to be doing a work out or anything.
Is there something I am missing? Has anyone else been able to get this working?

Nike+ is designed for athletes who like to run with music and who want to measure and monitor their progress toward their goals. To get instant workout feedback, you’ll need Nike+ ready shoes and either a Nike+ SportBand or an iPod® nano and Nike + iPod Sport Kit (which includes a sensor and iPod nano receiver).
When placed under the sockliner of the left Nike+ ready shoe, the sensor measures your pace, distance, time elapsed and calories burned. This information is transmitted wirelessly to the receiver for real-time audio feedback while you listen to your favorite workout music. Learn more.

  • Nike +ipod playlists not playing complete playlist

Is anyone having issues with using the Nike +ipod for specific playlists. I have my favorite playlist for running and it's skipping songs and I can't get to specific songs that I like. The first time I used it it worked and played all the songs...now I play it and it randomly skips songs and I can't go back to get the song. Any insite would be great.

Myabe obvious, but do you have the Shuffle option turned on under the top-level Settings menu?

  • Latest Run doesn't show in Nike + iPod menu, won't sync, Potential Fix

I hope this hasn't been discussed elsewhere, but I found a solution to a frequent problem I was having.
    10.4.7, iTunes 6.0.5, iPod Nano Software 1.2
PROBLEM: After completing a workout, attempting to upload it to the nikeplus.com website doesn't work at all. Checking Preferences>iPod>Nike + iPod does not show a "latest workout". Trying the "re-sync" tricks don't work.
WHAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM: From what I have found, if you listen to a playlist that has an ampersand (&) in the playlist title, the workout won't be synced to the Nike Plus website.
I had to go in and edit the XML file and remove the ampersand, move the xml file back to the "Latest Workout" folder and sync again.
I noticed this because opening a good workout in Safari displayed all workout data while the "bad" xml file showed an error on line 12. Line 12 consisted of the playlist I played during my workout ("Shane & Shane"). Changing all instances of this to "Shane and Shane" solved the issue.
I hope this helps, and I hope this is fixed!

I suppose we need a FAQ for the most common problems and fixes! It would save people from having to reinvent the wheel.

  • Cannot sync Nike+ iPod wirelessly

    Quick background:
    - using an iPhone 4 running 4.2.1
    - lost iTunes as it was removed from my work laptop
    - use Nike+ iPod machines at the gym (think they are branded Matrix)
    So here is the issue:
Before I used to connect my iPhone to my laptop, iTunes would open as would the Nike+ website which would show me my runs, timings, distance etc.
Now I don't have iTunes installed I wanted to continue to upload the information and track my runs. I did check and saw that it was possible to wirelessly do this - but no runs are displayed on my history.
    Any help would be appriciated.

i recently got a new PC and i would like to sync my iphone on it. i have sen a few discussions and followed instructions and here is what i did and reached:
    - i connected teh phone to the new PC
    - i right clicked on teh phone on teh left menu of teh itunes as it appeared and i chose "backup" and backed up successfully
    - i then right clicked again on teh same palce and chose "trasfer purchases" and that was done successfully too.
    - i opened the outlook on my pc and created a new contact (this was advised to do in one of teh discussions in order to enable the contacts of the outlook and the phone to merge together)
    - in the info tab, i chose to sync the contacts and teh notes (which is what i want to sync). as i clicked "sync" i was gived the option to "erase content of the phone" or "cance".
    - i chose cancel. as i clicked "cancel" i was given other 2 choices, one of them is "merge the content of both outlook and phone" so i chose the merge option. and i clicked "sync"
what happened then is that the new contact that i had created on teh PC outlook, was successfully synced to teh phone. however, the contacts that i have on teh phone were not trasferred to outlook.
    - i tired to reset sync history from itunes and try yo sync again, still no contacts were trasfered from the phone to the outlook.
i have an iphone 4 runing the latest ios 5.1.1
    i have the latest itunes
    i have windows 7 running office 2010
i need help to transfer the contacts from teh phone to  the outlook and have them sync notmally together like it was with my old PC.

  • Options re: Nike+iPod compatibility with non-nano iPods?

    Hi,
I'm a runner who bought a fifth generation ipod (mainly for running) in late 2005. I am interested in the Nike+iPod system but was disappointed to learn it is only compatible with iPod nano, though many nanos use OS 10.3, like the fifth gen. ipod.
Any suggestions beyond selling the one I have and buying an ipod nano?
    Thanks

    {quote:title=Jeff Bryan wrote:}
The compatibility of the Nike kit with the nano has more to do with the nano being more suitable for running as it has flash memory and not a hard drive (no skipping or moving parts), and is lighter and smaller too. Much more suitable for activity sports. It has nothing to do with the Mac OS version.
Thank you for the reply, Jeff.
I appreciate your points and I don't mean to belabor the issue. I meant to say I purchased the iPod in late '06, which makes it just over a year old. Technically the Nike+ kit was available then, but it was basically brand new and I don't recall being aware of it.
To respond in support of the 5th gen ipod, personally I've run with it well over 500 miles, up to 13+ miles at a time, over steep hills and through heavy rain and skipping has not been an issue once. The same is true for a few other runners I know who use this model. While the nano is smaller, the 5th gen is a good size as well, and a marked improvement over older devices runners used happily for years, so it is far from a critical issue.
There's nothing you can do other than replace your 5th gen with a nano. There are no options to make your 5th gen work with the Nike kit.
I understand and appreciate Apple's making an iPod tailored to running, but logically activity sports would have been considered a key use from the first iPod, and the pre-nano models are suited to this very well also. I am a usually-happy and consistent Apple customer, am just once in awhile annoyed when good (and relatively new) products are not included for compatibility with new systems. It seems to me that the points you mention, while logical, are far from critical, and that a product less than 18 months old using the same OS could easily have been made compatible with the Nike kit.
Thank you again for the reply, I'll forward my thoughts to iPod feedback.

  • No sync of workouts from iPod to Nike+

    Hi
I hope someone here can help. I'm unable to sync my workouts from my iPod to nike+. The workouts exist in my iPod and also in iTunes on the tab Nike + iPod. After each new workout I get the message that my data has been uploaded to nike+, but the number of runs there tell me that nothing has been uploaded since January.
I have changed to the newest version of the iPod nano, otherwise I have done nothing.
Does someone here have a clue what to do to correct the issue?
    Thanks in advance!

Here you go team. This worked well for me.
    1. plug in your nano
    2. in itunes make sure your have checked "enable disk use" on the summary tab in itunes.
    3. go to start-->my computer
    4. you should see your ipod in the folder view.
    5. while in this drive, select tools-->folder options-->view tab-->show hidden files and folders should be selected (radio button filled in).
    6. now select iPod_control-->device-->trainer-->workouts-->empeds-->uniquely named folder containing letters and numbers-->latest and synched folders.
    7. go into synched folders and copy all, cut and then paste into the recent folder.
    8. re-sync your ipod nike+ data, view on nikeplus.com
    9. if you have any missing data this might help restore it to nikeplus.com. (i hope!) my missing run was not there, but i'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  • Nike + ipod calibrations

how come when i try to calibrate the walk count feature on 'nike + ipod' by walking around as it asks, it doesn't calibrate, no matter how long i walk around for. also, when i try to press a button on the remote feature, it doesn't seem to work. how do i calibrate both the walk counter and remote features? help appreciated!
(btw, i know that it probably isn't an issue with my ipod touch itself as i have exchanged my ipod at the apple store twice and both have the same problems).

How old is the sensor? The battery can die.
    Did it ever work?
Does the iPod detect the sensor?

  • New Nano (8GB) freezes when trying to play music. Nike+ IPod at fault?

This is the second nano I've received, the original did the same thing. The nano works fine when I first play it, but after I upgrade to the latest ipod firmware and try using my Nike ipod thingie, I have problems with it freezing up. I take it to work (where I'm outside & don't have a computer) (no Nike connector) & try selecting something, but as soon as I try playing Music or a Podcast playlist, it freezes with the Play arrow button & "Now Playing" in the top menu & the light on. No button combination or toggling the switch will unfreeze it. I have to wait until after the battery has worn out & I get home to connect it to my computer to get it back to normal.
Any ideas what the problem is?
Cube, iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Does this happen with any song or video you play?  If so, then my best guess would be a hardware issue since a restore to factory settings did not resolve it.

  • Nike+Ipod options vanished

Hi I have just come to use my Nike+iPod foot sensor with my 5th Gen 16G Ipod Nano and there is no menu option on the Ipod any longer to choose. The menu item is selected in settings\menu option but the menu refuses to appear. Also all Nike options have vanished from Itunes, which was updated yesterday to 9.0.0(15).
Any ideas why and how I can get the options back so that I can use the Nike sensor please?

  • Possible design flaw in Nike+iPod kit causes connection problem

I've been having some similar receiver/sensor connection problems as documented on these forums. Here's a page and video that diagnoses the problem as being a possible contact connection issue. Try squeezing your Nano to see if it makes contact. I'll try mine when I get home.

I think you meant you have the iPod nano software, version 1.2. iTunes 1.2 will definitely not work. 6.0.5 is the current version of iTunes The iPod options appear after plugging in your iPod, then choosing preferences in iTunes (or clicking the little iPod icon in the bottom right of the iTunes window). Nike + iPod prefs are in there too.

  • Nike+ iPod very inaccurate

    Hi,
To day i was out on a 2 mile run but when I came back, my iPod told me I hade ran for just 0.5 miles.
This is very annoying and I would like know (without spending more money) how can I improve the accuracy of my Nike+ sensor as clearly 0.5 miles is very inaccurate?
    Thanks.

    Hey dylanfromantrim,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are having an issue with the accuracy of the Nike + sensor. These two articles address the accuracy of the sensor.
Nike + iPod Frequently Asked Questions (Technical)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2293#faq4
How accurately does the Nike + iPod system track my distance?
The Nike + iPod system measures the distance traveled by most runners and walkers to over a 90 percent degree of accuracy, right out of the box. You can calibrate the system to your stride for increased accuracy.
Nike + iPod: How to calibrate your Nike + iPod Sport Kit or Sensor
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1616
The default calibration for Nike + iPod is quite accurate for most users. You can improve the accuracy by calibrating the Nike + iPod Sport Kit or Sensor to your natural running and walking style.
