Ipod overheating troubles

I usually start playing game called Order and Chaos online and have my ipod plugged in i have rubber thin case and my ipod gots overheating within 15 minute and this trouble me and take 30-45 minute to cool down comepletely on lockscreen.  I tried taking off the case it helped a little but still it overheats around the upper front screen and the upper back (1-2 cn above apple logo) areas and when i smell it like actually smell it close up it smells like burning circuits or metal and this freak me out im worry it be ruining my ipod. I have ipod touch 4gen on iOS 5.0.1 and im worry about this so i want to know and btw mu case is thin rubber or silicone case if that helps and it heats hot but not enough hot to burn or untouchable
1) what to do to stop from overheating so fast
2) are you guys have this trouble too
3) what damage might this causing
Please dont share your own story of over heating ipod or repeat same things i say and im not gonna take it back to apple for battery replace unless it under 20$ ok and sorry for my bad grammar and spleling i do fast this time because last time i wrote this message i click on add/ edit product by accident and i lost it so thank you please halpme

Hi,
There's two things that actually generate heat in your iPod; making the CPU works hard and charging the battery and there's nothing you can actually do to reduce the heat of these more than removing your case to let the device cool himself by air convection.
Games like Order and Chaos that make intense CPU usage will get your iPod warm.  Since high CPU usage imply energy consumption, you will then plug your device to continue playing, therefore combining the two heat generating events.
You can say that your iPod is heating, but how could you say it's "overheating"?  That would imply that it generate more heat than it is actually designed to withstand which would be hard for you to monitor.
While it is quite normal that you feel heat when you play O&C while charging, it is not to smell burned circuit (but can you make the distinction between warm circuit and overheating circuit? I doubt that it is an objective way to do a diagnostic.  For me, it seems to be completely normal.
Since you can't measure if the internal temperature is above what it should be, your best option is probably to go at genius bar to get their feeling.  If something's wrong and still under warranty, you'll get a new one.  If no longer under warranty, at least, you will have some objective information to assess if you may get harmed by using it like this (there is a few story about this but they are exceptions).
Any silicon case will reduce heat dissipation.  It may not be significant to reduce your iPod's life, it will help to cool it down if you remove it.

  • Click wheel iPod connectoiin troubles

I am having troubles with my click wheel 20 GB iPod (colorless screen). When I attempt to turn it on, it displays the folder and exclamation point icon. When I connect it to my computer (windows XP), it sometimes shows the do not disconnect screen and says it is charging, but it will not show up in iTunes, and it shows up under "my computer" intermittently, and when I open it there, nothing shows. I have tried recharging it,resetting it, all those re words, and still nada. One last note:I started experiencing these problems after connecting my iPod to a computer with iTunes 7. Help would be much appreciated.

  • Help I itunes will not recognize my iphone or ipod. Trouble with USB driver, device not running in safe mode, and HDCP not supported.

Help! When I connect my iphone or ipod touch to my computer, windows recognizes my device but itunes will not. I can still see my songs, videos, and access the itunes store but my phone and itunes store have no connection so it does me no good. I have for 2 days now tried every trouble shooting method posted with no luck. I think I may have finally found a lead. My Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is showing up under portable mobile devices while it is supposed to be showing up under universal serial Bus controllers from my understanding? Also, while running my diagnostic report under itunes it also says itunes is not running in safe mode, it is not showing enabled in windows firewall (which it is checked), and the HDCP is not supported. I don't know what to do? I am in tears here, someone please help!!!

  • Ipod having trouble syncing music

I used to have all my music onto my ipod until when i synced it to add more music it said that the folder couldn't be found and it erased all of my music from my ipod. Since then I havent been able to sync more then 100 songs before it says the same error message and again deletes all my music from my ipod. I have restored my ipod about 5 or 6 times and it still does the same thing. Any ideas to what the problem could be?

Hard to gues as you do not mention your issue.
    What "trouble" are you having?

  • Computer crashed, lost all itunes but they are still on IPOD- sync trouble

My computer crashed and I lost everything including my itunes library- luckily all my music is on my ipod. I found the latest itunes and installed it and then found I had to register the computer for itunes which I did. There is an option to tranfer purchases (which I assume means transfer them from my ipod to my computer) but every time I try this the whole thing freezes. Also the computer appears to sometime have trouble recognising the ipod- when I try to access the USB through my computer is says there is no disk. It appears I can't put any new songs on until I sync the ipod- but my only options appear to be sync and erase and I will lose hundreds of dollars of music.

    Welcome to AD!
Is your PC authorized for the itunes store? If so, when you connect your ipod, you should see a message about transferring purchases. Here is a screenshot of that message
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Clearly, you DO NOT want to push the "erase and sync" button!

  • IPod iMessage troubles

I am having troubles with iMessage on my iPod 5.  I have iOS 8.2.  It won't let me text just one person.  I can text anyone else but this person.  I send a message, and it just shows the red exclamation point and says "Not Delivered".  I tap "Try again", and it does the same thing.  Again, this is only with one person.  (the same person)  I have turned my WiFi off and then on again, and it still does it.  I deleted the contact and then tried to text the person again, and this time it said that the person wasn't registered with iMessage.  I have always been able to text the person before.  I also tried turning iMessage off and then on again, but it still didn't work.  I seemed to have more troubles with my iPod after the last update.
Does anybody have any answers?  Please and thank you!!

I now wonder if my iMessage problem is with my Contacts instead, (or possibly my friend's device) because I tried Face Timing my friend, and that didn't work either.  I did delete and remake the contact as I said the first time.  But every time I try to start a new text to my friend again,  it still is saying that she isn't registered with iMessage.

  • 4th gen ipod usb troubles

ok, so i bought a 20GB 4th gen. iPod off ebay and i can't get it to work with my computer. I have a Gateway laptop with roothub usb. My computer will detect the iPod, but not my iTunes. And it has trouble charging. I think it is a compatability with my computer so now what can i do? I don't really want to have to upgrade my computer just for my iPod, but as far as I know the iPod is the only device that will play the AAC iTunes files.

Apple created the stupid AAC file format to annoy Windows users.
Change your settings in Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing ~ to "Import Using 'MP3 Encoder'" - not AAC. If you wanna send music to a friend over AIM/MSN/Yahoo or whatever and they dont have iTunes, it's annoying, MP3 is more globally accepted.
So your iPod works with your computer, but not with the iTunes.
    Things to try:
    1) Re-install iTunes
    2) Reset iPod
Good luck and reply back soon!

  • PLEASE HELP NEW IPOD IN TROUBLE

    Yehlena,
I am glad we could help, but your not done yet;) I think you should award King the solved points for informing you about the restoring feature.
One of the responsibilities of the original poster (sometimes referred to as OP) is to award points to the "solver" as well as the most helpful. The reason being, not only does it show how the problem was fixed, but it 5-10 points (depending on helpful or solved) to those who helped the most. I like to think of it as paying them back with Monopoly money. It doesn't count anywhere else, but here. The reason for these points (I believe) is to show a rough estimate someone has been helpful as well as reduce the number of slipshod responses (the idea that someone will put the extra effort to try solve/help the problem). It has become proper etiquette when posting in the forums to issue these post (my opinion). I am not an Apple host/moderator, nor do I have any authority/say in this forum. I am "just another brick in the wall". It's up to you; I just thought it was something worth mentioning.
    Thanks,

  • Ipod mini troubles: Help Needed

I really need help with ipod mini troubleshooting..
I've had my Ipod mini for about 3 years now and lately have been running into a few problems.
    In the past few months:
-My Ipod's "battery meter" has been acting really strange, one second it may be reading as 3/4 full, and the next it shuts down saying that my battery has depleted, then a few minutes later it will be reading full again. And just to let you know, I always charge it overnight to avoid having a dead battery, and I always make sure to properly shut it off using "hold".
Resetting my ipod works sometimes, but other times doesn't..
    Yesterday:
My Ipod is no longer responding at all, and I'm pretty sure I know why: Some careless person spilled some water near and on my ipod, I dried it off as soon as I could. It was working properly shortly afterwards, but a few hours later, it shut off saying that the battery was dead again, and a picture of a "cartoon ipod" with dead eyes("XX") appeared on my screen, and it said under the picture to go to "www.apple/support/ipod". This was when it wasn't connected to a power source. When I connected my ipod to my computer via USB, my itunes does not recognize that it is connected ("Do not disconnect" does not appear on my ipod) and a picture of a "dead battery" has appeared on my screen, it is not in the "recharging mode" either (with the picture of the battery moving).
I tried re-setting it numourous times, and always end up with either the "dead battery" picture, or the "dead cartoon ipod" picture on it.
Help would be greatly appreciated, as I use my ipod everyday for school and leisure.
    Thanks.

I've tried that several times without luck.

  • IPod Classic trouble with 64 bit Windows 7

Just got a new (generation 7?) iPod Classic.  I am running Windows 7 64 bit.  When I plug the iPod into any of the USB ports, it does not show up as a drive.  When I go into the device manager, it shows up as Apple Mobile Device under the USB Controllers, as opposed to under the Disk Drives, which is where it shows up on my 32 bit machine (which I should note shows up as the E drive on that machine).  It says the device is working properly, and claims to have the latest drivers.
    Any thoughts?

Re-install, using the latest, iTunes for Windows 7 64bit, from Apple web-site.
if you want your iPod to be used as an External Hardisk in Windows, then you got to put iPod in diskmode by
Press Menu and Center button till the Apple Logo comes ON (about 10 secs)
The release the Menu button and move your finger to the reverse button |<< while still press the Center button.
The iPod screen will show diskmode.
Connect the iPod to the USB port and the PC will recognised it as a portable hardisk.
Of course, if you want to load songs into iPod and use it as a music player, then you got to use iTunes and Sync it.
Additonal steps needed for this, as your iTunes would  sometime hang and not show the iPod on the device folder.
Let me know if you need further help.

  • 1 gb ipod nano - trouble with first time charge?

I've recently tried to charge my 1gb nano for the first time using my USB hub. I'm running xp w/sp 2...and after plugging the nano into my computer it did nothing. I researched and buying an A/C adaptor was suggusted. I purchased the charger and still nothing. Not a battery icon, a lightning bolt..nothing. I will say when I first plugged the nano in to charge the apple icon came up twice and I haven't seen any signs of life from the thing since then.
Can anybody help? Prior to my returning or throwing this thing out the window? Maybe technology just isn't ready to properly replace my discman!

See these or return it and get another one.
    My iPod won't turn on.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.

  • URGENT! PLEASE RESPOND! Ipod/Itunes trouble.

Please be patient while I try to explain all that's happening.
Sorry if it's a little long, but I want to make sure I include all of the details so someone can actually help me:
I am trying to disconnect my ipod from the computer by clicking the eject symbol located next to it in itunes. Usually after I do this, the ipod disconnects and no longer displays the 'do not disconnect' screen so that I can disconnect it from the usb port.
Here is what happens when I click it now. I get a message that says:
"The ipod 'Sharon's Ipod2' cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
This has happened after the iTunes would not recognize my ipod for about 5 tries of opening and closing iTunes. So, I repaired the iTunes program and now it's recognizing my ipod, but it no won't let me eject it. I'm afraid to just pull it from my computer for fear of losing all 30 GB on my ipod.
What could this possibly mean???? I have no other programs running on my computer right now except for iTunes and this page I'm typing in at apple support.
please help. my ipod and itunes has been working beautifully since I bought it in October- 2 months ago.

I do have anti-virus software, but I don't think it's running at the moment. How do I make sure it's not?
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by do I have a drive open? The ipod is assigned a drive in windows explorer because I have photos and notes on it like I always do.
What I don't get is why I've never had this problem before and I haven't done anything different.
