Ipod partially plays a song

I recently downloaded a song from Itunes. It oaded into my library and plays on the computer. I loaded it into my Ipod nano and the Ipod will only play 1:42 second of the 2:53 the Ipod shows in the window before it skips to the next song. I have updated both the Itunes and Ipod to the latest software without success. I have removed the song from the Ipod and tried to re-load it. I welcome any ideas on how to cure this problem. This is the first time I have seen this problem and is the only song not working on both my computer and Ipod.

If its playing the first part of the song, but not playing the whole thing, then you have an advanced feature (Stop/Start) on.
Rightclick the name of the song in iTunes, select "Get Info" and then select the Options tab. here you will uncheck the boxes beside "Start Time" and "Stop Time"

So, if you select one of these songs on the iPods screen, and try to play it, what happens?  The iPod does nothing?  It skips to the next song?
It's possible you will have to do a Restore on the iPod, if there is data corruption on the iPod causing this problem.  The Restore erases the iPod, and removes any corruption.
NOTE:  There may be a hardware problem, such as the iPod's hard drive becoming unreliable, that is causing this problem and data issues.  It may continue to operate as long as its data stays mostly unchanged, but if you do a Restore to update the hard drive's data in a major way, it is possible that the Restore will fail and leave the iPod non-operable.

  • How do I stop iPod on my iPad from automatically advancing from one song to the next in my music library or in a playlist? I want iPod to play one song and then stop.

How do I stop iPod on my iPad 2 from automatically advancing from one song to the next in my music library or in a playlist? I want iPod to play one song and then stop until it's told to play the next song. In iTunes I can uncheck the checkmarks next to songs, but I can't see where to do that on the iPad 2.

how do i get itunes or any other program for ipod to play one song and then stop instead of contiuing playing. I need it to be in the same playlist and ready to play the next song when I press play?

Good luck.  I tried to do this to cue sound effects for a theater, and never found anything.  iTunes will definitely *not* do this, nor was I able to find any player that would play one song at a time in a single playlist.
In my case, I ended up using AutoHotkey to tie individual tracks to the keys on an external keypad. This was an excellent solution for my problem, but I don't think AHK runs on Macs.
One workaround is to make a folder, and fill it with *shortcuts* to the songs you want (ie, the actual files).  You can change the names to start with numbers to get them in the right order.  Then if you double-click on one it will play just that song.  You'll still have to double-click on each song.
Might be a good time to learn AppleScript   It would  also be pretty easy to write a Java app to do this.

  • How to show a photo as a backgroud picture when iPod is playing a song?

I am new to iPod nano. I sucessfully uploaded a photo and 4 songs into iPod nano. Now I want to make the photo as a backgroud picture when iPod is playing the song. I clicked Photos > Slidshow Settings > Music > Now Playing, then I played a song, it doesn't show the picture when the song is playing. Could anyone tell me how to set up please? Thank you.

I am sorry to dissapoint you, but you can not do that. That menu is for when you are viewing your photos and click the centre button, which activates the slideshow which shuffles through the photos. That option is selecting the playlist that plays when you are in a slideshow.

  • My iPod only plays one song at a time

I don't store any music on my iPod - only music videos. They all play fine, and they're stored as properly tagged music video files under Menu->Videos->Music Videos. After I first synced them from my PC, I noticed that they also all appear under Menu->Music as songs. I can play them all just fine, either by selecting one through Menu->Videos (in which case it plays as a video) or by selecting one though Menu->Music, in which case it plays as a regular song with a little picture displayed instead of the video.
    So far, so good.
The only problem is, I can only play one song at a time. I navigate through the menu, select either a song or a video, and the iPod will play that just fine, get to the end, and then bring up the menu again.
How can I get it to play the one I select, and then just play other random songs? It makes no difference whether or not 'shuffle' is selected, it still only plays one then stops. Also, putting the songs in a playlist doesn't seem to make any difference.
    Any advice gratefully received.

Are you sure you don't have Shuffle on? There are a couple of ways to Shuffle on a 5th Gen. iPod. You can't simply choose Shuffle Songs from the Main Menu and shuffle the entire library...or you can go to Settings > Shuffle and choose Songs or Albums and apply that to any playlist you select. The behavior you describe is what happens when Shuffle is turned on and items are set to Skip When Shuffling (an option found on the tracks under Get Info). If Shuffle is on, you should see the little green crossed arrows in the upper right of the iPod window.

  • Ipod doesnt play some songs

now whenever i play my ipod and select a song to play it just skips onto another song even though it used to play it fine the other day. it even skips songs belonging to a whole album and i have not changed any settings or anything! help pls!

I don't know if my problem/solution will help in your case, but yesterday I purchased an album on itunes, and although it downloaded and played on itunes just fine, when it sync'd to my 60GB ipod, only some of the songs played. I tried restoring the ipod, but that did not solve the problem. So, while waiting to hear back from tech support, I decided to delete the entire album from both the music listing and the purchased music listing AFTER burning a CD (and making sure it was a good burn). I did a sync to make sure the listing was removed from the ipod, then imported the newly burned CD, did another sync, and voila! all the songs on the album now play without any skipping. Hopefully this will work with your problem (unless you're experiencing skipping on all your albums)
    Good luck!

  • 18.5GB ipod wont play any song Ive bought on iTunes after two days

I don't know what generation it is, but it says version 3.1.1 and model number M9282LL in the 'About' section
I have to plug my iPod into my machine every two days or it will start skipping through any song I've ever purchased on iTunes. The only songs that will play after that are what I've ripped from CDs. Even when there is nothing to update, I must plug the iPod in and let it run through the update routine. It then works fine for another 2 days. I've searched here and found nothing. Nobody Ive talked to in the mac stores have ever heard of this happening. Any ideas?
    TIA

Once you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, if the problem still exists, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.
The following articles will help you.
    Authorization and Deauthorization.
How to create a new user account on a Mac.
    How to restore the iPod.

Apple are also working on the theory that this may have a connection with the iPod entering deep sleep and not playing purchased music afterward until you resync it again.

  • My ipod is playing all songs. I only want it to play checked songs, how do i fix this?

Mark the tracks to Skip when Shuffling from under the Options tab of the Get Info window for each track.

  • How quickly will an iPod Touch play a song?

I play in bands and run our backing tracks off an iPod Classic. I'm getting a bit tired of the Classic taking a couple of seconds to whir into life when I go to play a song...for instance, I will select a song and the Classic will take a second or two to respond before playing.
I'm wondering, does an iPod Touch start playing a song instantly when you select one to play? I have an HTC One phone which responds immediately, you hit the song and bang, it begins playing within a milisecond. If anyone can help with this, thanks alot.

Cheers, I need to test one myself really. Are there any videos about which will demonstrate this?

  • My Ipod will play one song over and over again.

Ok i can play one song but if im trying to shuffle thru to another song it just starts the song over again that was just playing. I hope someone can offer some solution...

Under Settings > Repeat, does it say anything other than "Off"? On the iPod Classic, the options are "Off," which plays the current playlist through once, "One," which plays the current song repeatedly, and "All," which repeats the current entire playlist.

  • Help - iPod not playing purchased songs.

For some reason, my iPod is no longer playing songs that I have purchased through iTunes.
I can get music from CDs to play fine, but when I put a purchased tune on there, it simply displays the song, then skips it. If I put all purchased songs in one playlist, it simply skips all the way to the last song then jumps back to the main menu.
I didn't have the problem when I first got the nano.

Oh, that was suprisingly easy. Thanks.
I wonder what causes that to happen...

  • My iPod wont play any song!!!

One day, my iPod got wet it stopped working, and i had to let it dry....After it was "dry", it started working again. But, No song will play. I have tried resetting, resoreing, and updating......I am running out of options. is there a way to fix this so I wont have to send it in for repairs.....plus, my warrenty has expired..

my ipod touch has the same problem. I restored it three times, but that can't help.

  • IPod not playing a song

    Hey,
My iPod Nano (2GB Second Generation I think, in Silver), isn't playing this one song I bought from iTunes (Operation Ground And Pound by Dragonforce). It plays fine in iTunes, but when I sync it to my iPod, it's recognised but always skips to the next track.
I've reset, restored, used my own settings, the default ones, had it as the only song etc, and it's just not working.
Is it a fault with the song or with my iPod? All other purchases work on it.

Make sure you un-tap the repeat button.
You can find the repeat button during song playback as a blue circular icon on the left upper side of the iTunes player on your iPod Touch.

  • IPod stopped playing some songs

Hi, I've found references to similar problems but am not certain if it's the same thing. My iPod (60GB w/video) used to play everything just fine. Recently I plugged it in for an update with the "Hold" button on without realizing it. It seemed to update fine, but since then certain songs won't play and I don't understand why.
My main question is, is it possible to tell iTunes to reload all songs, or do I have to determine which of my 8000 songs won't play, delete them, and reload them? That would be something of a chore. Alternatively, is there a soft that is able to check songs on an iPod to see if they're okay, then reload them if not?
Thanks for any help. Y'all seem to know what you're doing, as I do not.

You can use the ipod updater to "restore" your ipod to the factory settings. Then reload everything. If your ipod is set to disk use, make sure everything is backed up, as it will be lost.
I use "Tune Tech" by prosoft engineering to help manage my ipod.
