Ipod photo breaks link with library

My ipod said it was not linked to my library the other day. I have always updated from that machine and this was a first. I had it link to that library and it updated all 2000 songs to the ipod. Most of that 2000 were already on there. Does this have something to do with choosing to update songs manually? Can you swirtch between manual and automatic without it updating the entire library again? Was it because I updated to itunes 5?

What was the exact error message ?

    ipod photo 20gb, it works fine and is upadated in itunes,
    but i have 4 devices i would like to use it with and it works with
    none of them, my gf's ipod touch works fine with them all,
    is there an adapter or updated firmware to get this ipod photo to
    work with newer devices? or are old ipod owners forgotten about and left
    in the dust?
    thanks

    What are you talking about?
    What "devices" ?
    What do you mean "works with none of them"?

  • My old iPod Photo sync'd with 10.6 but won't with my new iMac running 10.7, I get an error message, am I done?

    My old iPod Photo sync'd with 10.6 but won't with my new iMac running 10.7, I get an error message and a message that it could not sync, am I done?

    What's the error message say, exactly?  Does the error occur when you sync, or when you just connect it?  Does the iPod appear in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES), or does this error occur before that can happen?
    I have an old 4th Gen (color screen) iPod, which should be the same as an "iPod Photo."  It's been sitting idle for a while, but I just connected it to my iMac running Mac OS X 10.7 and iTunes 10.6.1.  I think it's the first time I tried since upgrading to Lion.  It connected and synced fine using USB.

  • Can an ipod only be linked with one library on itunes on one computer?

    I have set up my ipod on one computer and downloaded a load of music on to it. now i want to put more music on from another computer but the computer is telling me that all the music i have on it already will be replaced by this new library from a different computer. Can't an ipod be linked with two different librarys without all music being deleted?

    See: Using iPod with multiple computers.

  • I moved by iTunes files to an external drive because I was changing computers. I then moved the files to the new computer. My iPod is not linking with the files on the computer.  What can I do?

    I moved my iTunes files from my old computer to an external hard drive.  I then moved those files to the new computer. My computer and iPad are not linking up (recognizing each other?).  I installed the latest version of iTunes onto the new computer to see if that would help.  It did not--I got the message that an iPad can only be linked up with one computer and the new download would not work with this iPod.  So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPad.  What should I do to correct this?

    Sorry, I had a typo.  The last sentence should have read "iPod" (iPad):  So the iTunes' library and my iPod are not connecting, and I have no way of installing or removing new songs onto my iPod.  What should I do to correct this?

  • Ipod photo not synching with Nikon Coolpix 880

    Hi all,
    Despite all the posts on the subject, synch with camera connector still does not work.
    Context: IPOD photo 30G with Photo Import option on and driver 1,2; Nikon coolpix 880 listed as supported on IPhoto site.
    Symptoms: Get message "No card inserted"
    Status: about to throw the whole thing through the window !
    Heeeeeelp ... pleeeease.
    Barchi

    Try this: set your iPod in the hard disk mode (you can do this by connecting the iPod to your computer and then set it in this mode.
    If it doesn't work... Let me know.
    Are you sure, that the Nikon coolpix 880 is supported?

  • Breaking link with Symbol loses brush strokes

    I'm disappointed to find that if a symbol instance containing brush strokes, is scaled and the symbol link is broken, all the brush strokes are converted to filled paths. I find, if I place an instance at 100%, then break link, the brush strokes are intact. This is also true of symbols containing Live Paint objects.
    Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder why AI cannot just scale the brush width, instead of converting them to shapes.

    For you, anything, Kurt.
    I'm actually talking about the default CMYK artbrushes that ship with AICS2 (and maybe 10). More specifically the Chalk Scribble brush. That one seems to convert to filled paths when it's included in a symbol that's delinked once on the artboard.
    I've also seen this with some custom made brushes of my own... usually complex with lots of points and curves. And I suspect what Ray sees happens with more complex brushes in symbols... scaled or otherwise depending on the particulars.

  • IPod photo stream sync with iPhoto

    Hi,
    I just synced my iPod photo stream to iPhoto on my laptop, but now I've decided I don't want to have my iPod photos on my laptop, is there a way of reversing this sync??
    Thanks

    Hi Ruby93,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I understand you no longer want to see your Photo Stream photos on your Apple computer. The attached article explains how to turn on Photo Stream. Where the article explains how to enable Photo Stream, you would do the opposite by unchecking the box.
    iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
    Mac:
    Go to Apple () > System Preferences > iCloud.
    Select the checkbox for Photos (or Photo Stream).
    Click the Options button and make sure that My Photo Stream is selected.
    Open the app that you want to use with Photo Stream (iPhoto or Aperture) and make sure that My Photo Stream is turned on in that app. You can also adjust your My Photo Stream settings in iPhoto or Aperture Preferences.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Break Link with Style

    Hello all,
    I need to break a link to an object style via script. I found this discussion:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.59b4d4d7
    jxswm suggests the line founds[i].applyObjectStyle(dstStyle, false, false); but this is the same as clicking on "None" and not the same as calling "Break link to style". I.e. the formatiing is lost and replaced by [None].
    Has anyone found out how to break the link without the object changing its formatting?
    Thank you very much.

    Ah, not quite. "myObj.appliedObjectStyle = myTempStyle" removes overrides. But myObj.applyObjectStyle(mytempStyle, false false) does not, so this is easily fixed.
    For any lurkers or archive-diggers (like myself ;) ) my entire routine:
      var myMenuAction = app.menuActions.item("$ID/Copy");
      app.clearOverridesWhenApplyingStyle = false;
      if (app.selection.length > 0) {
        var noStyle = app.documents[0].objectStyles[0];
        for (var n=0; n < app.selection.length; n++) {
          var myObj= app.selection[n];
          var myStyle = myObj.appliedObjectStyle;
          if (myStyle != noStyle) {
            var myTempStyle = myStyle.duplicate();
            myObj.applyObjectStyle(myTempStyle, false, false);
            myTempStyle.remove();
      } else {
        beep();
        beep();
      app.copy();

  • I need to find my root directory that my photos are linked with

    I created some albums in iPhoto awhile back and I have my preferences set up as not making a copy in iPhoto and it takes the images from an external hard drive.  That drive has since crashed and I am trying to duplicate the drive the way it was and I can't remember the name I put on the drive so the images don't recognize it.  I am able to link the pictures one by one but is there a way to link all of them at once?  I have over 1300 images to redirect.  I was hoping that if I was able to name the new external hard drive the same thing with the same folder names and the same image names that it would automatically link them.

    THis is one  (of many) reasons that it is strongly recommended not to use a referenced library
    If you search the forum a few months ago someone posted a solution to this that involved using a SQLite editor
    As far as I know, and with the exception of that one poster, there is no way to easily do this
    If you upgrade to iPhoto '11 and purchase Aperture 3 you can share the same library and Aperture can relink the photos

  • Updated apps break links with dock icons (Mac OS)

    When apps are updated via the CC desktop app, they sometimes (not always) come down with a new name which causes the link in the dock to break.
    This would be a nuisance with one or two apps, but when a CC user has (like I do) a dozen icons in their dock it means that every major update requires several broken dock icons to be replaced. And if (like me) the user has more than one login on their machine (for separate personal and business workspaces) then the nuisance is doubled.
    For example, I have just downloaded "Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1", which has removed the earlier version leaving an orphaned dock icon ("Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014"), for the sake of adding ".1" to the file name.
    As a general principle, version numbers do not belong in an application name; there is a perfectly good field in the file info window for version number which is where practically every other vendor puts theirs.
    This comes on top of the muddle of versions which has meant there are three "current" versions of some apps, for instance Photoshop (CS6, CC and CC 2014).
    The other problem with your system is that in a few short months "CC 2014" apps will be outdated, if not in practise, certainly in name.
    Some creative brains need to be exercised on this, don’t leave it to the nerds.

    If it happens in a new user you may be able to repair this with the 10.5.4 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
    Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

  • HT1473 How do I sync new purchased music onto my ipod without deleting/replacing with current library. I recently changed computers and new library doesnt have any of my playlists either.

    Hi All:
    I recently got a new computer, authorized new one with itunes and when I go into my library it has none of my playlists that I originally created. Also, I purchased new songs on itunes and as I did in the past, I connected my ipod Nano to automatically sync to get the new music and hopefully all my playlists would go into my itunes library and I received a message asking am I sure I want to delete all my ipod contents and replace with library contents? I canceled and dont want to loose my existing ipod collection as I have more songs on there than my itunes library plus my playlists are all on my ipod.  What I want to do is sync new songs to ipod and sync my playlists from ipod to my itunes library.
    Please help!!
    Thank you so much!
    Michelle

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    If you purchased all songs in the iTunes Store, plug your iPod to your Mac or PC and iTunes will ask you to transfer purchases.
    If you didn't purchase any song or you have non-purchased songs from the iTunes Store, you have to use an application to transfer the songs to iTunes. Here is a list of applications you can use for that > https://discussions.apple.com/message/11319208#11319208

  • Can I use my Ipod photo 4th gen charger with the 120gb classic?

    My new 120gb classic will arrive shortly, I notice Apple don't include chargers anymore. Will the mains charger I got with my old 60gb ipod photo also work with the new classic or do I have to buy a new one? I notice the charger on sale via the apple website looks a bit different to my old one.

    If you old charger is a USB (+5V output) it will work. If it is a Firewire charger (+12V) then I think it will still work, but Apple has removed Firewire charging from most of the new iPod lines including the iPhone and 4th Generation Nano. However I think that the 120GB Classic may be the last iPod to still charge off Firewire chargers.
    It won't hurt anything to try it. If it doesn't work, you will get a screen display that states that the accessory is not supported or something to that effect.
    Good luck,
    Patrick

  • M4p with iPod Photo

    I bought Brazilian Girls' video album "LIVE IN NYC." that includes 5 m4v Quicktime movies and 5 m4p audio files. Both movies and audios can be played with iTunes 6 (iBook G4 1.42GHz, Mac OS 10.4.2), but when I transfered the audio files to my iPod Photo 60G they cannot be played with the iPod. The songs are displayed in the song lists of my iPod. But when I tried to play the songs, each song finished in zero second and moved to the next. I believe iPod Photo is compatible with m4p files... Does anyone have the same issue?

    I didn't try "the" AV cable (if you mean one from Apple).
    I used a standard S-Video cable. Since it says "S-Video out" on the connector, I assume that this should also work.
    The line out connector doesn't work either. When I dock the iPod, the sound still comes from the internal speaker and there's no signal from the line out.
    The dock doesn't have an IR receiver (I think that's one of the main features of the universal dock).
    All in all, it's not that tragic for me since I just wanted a dock for my iPod that allowed me to synchronize and charge it.
    I would have never used the video- or audio-output anyway, I guess.
    I tested it only out of curiosity.
    BTW, the seller's name is icebeezx (the item id is 290283883750).
    I guess you're safe when you look for the IR receiver in the pictures to make sure you get a Universal Dock - assuming the picture shows the actual item you get.
