IPod Photo Recognized by iTunes as Wife's nano!

I've had an iPod Photo for some time. I primarily hook it up to a single computer. Last week I bought my wife a nano. It synched up fine and I loaded up her iPod with tunes.
I've since had no problem hooking up my iPod Photo. Yesterday, I updated the software on my iPod (1.2). Last night I plugged it into the wall outlet and it updated with no problem and it played fine this morning on my way to work.
Today, when I try to synch up my iPod on my main computer... it thinks my iPod Photo is my wife's Nano!?!?
I've deleted iTunes (& cleaned the registry and defragged) and reinstalled... same result!
Any suggestions on how to correct this issue? Thanks!
jy

I have just one suggestion left.
Although you might not have the same issue as the title of this article, I suggest you read it.
There could be a problem with loading the 'iPodDriver.kext' file.

  • IPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs

iPod is recognized by iTunes and computer, but wil not sync songs. I have about 1400 songs and just got 40 more, and before I bought those 40 my iTunes was wiped out. I still had the files so my iTunes was filled up again. Now, when I connect my iPod to the computer it is recognized and then it says "do not disconnect" then after a few seconds it says "ipod update is complete- ok to disconnect". but it did not upload any songs. How can I make it work?

If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC
Then restore your iPod to factory settings.

  • IPod not recognized by iTunes 5.0.1

    Hi,
I recently formated my hard drive to reinstall windows xp pro.
I installed my iPod and iTunes 5.0.1 and now, my iPod is recognized by windows but not by iTunes =/
I tried to uninstall then reinstall iPod drivers and iTunes but nothing changed...
how can i make it work ?
(it worked perfectly before i format and reinstall windows)

Yes, I also have tried to restore using the iPod updater available from http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/. I have also tried the restore given to me via hp.com which led me to http://www.apple.com/ipod/hp/download/. Note, I have an hp+iPod 30G Photo. I have found that I could only get it to work using iTunes 4.9. Any machine which had 5.x.x installed would not work. Maybe this is a bug in the iPod software, or the iTunes, iPodService, or iTunesHelper?

  • Ipod not recognized by itunes or explorer (windows)

    Hello,
My iPod is not being recognized by iTunes or internet explorer. It used to, but not anymore. It just dosent show up when I connect it to my computer. Also, the "do no disconnect" sign does not appear on my iPod when I connect it. It is still able to recharge, though.
I read that I have to restore it. I have tons of songs in my iPod that I do NOT want erased! How can I back these songs up? I have some songs on my iPod that are from another person's computer, so if they get erased, the songs are gone forever.
    Please help, thanks.

  • Ipod not recognized by itunes or laptop

i have an ipod touch 4g and i can't get it to be recognized by my sony vaio laptop.
i recently got a new laptop and just finished transferring my itunes library over to it.
i went to sync my ipod, but i had endless problems with my old and new library. long story short, i reset it completely.
on my ipod, i set everything back to their old settings and whatnot, but when i went to sync it, my ipod didnt show up in my computer or itunes.
i restarted, checked for updates, and all that with amds and itunes. i followed every suggestion from apple support, troubleshoot, and ran diagnostics from itunes. the diagnostics still say that there is not an ipod found.
on its own, my ipod functions correctly and recognizes to be charged from my usb port. itunes and windows wont recognize it though
is there anything else i can do? this is really frustrating me.
    thanks!

    - So you tried everthing here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - Does it charge?
    - Have you tried another cable?
    - Try a known good compuuter.
    - Reset the iPod, nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Ipod not recognized by itunes or windows.

Hi there, I have an 80gb Ipod classic which is not recognized by itunes or windows. The "Use iTunes to restore" message appears on my ipod but when I connect it to my pc itunes does not recognize it. Windows shows a message informing me that I need to format the drive but is then unable to do so. Ipod will not go into disk mode either. I have tried reinstalling itunes and using the ipod in a different usb drive. I have also connected it to a mac and a windows pc but nothing happens. I have tried to use the diagnostics mode on the ipod but that will not work either. I am wondering if my ipod's hard drive is corrupted.

  • Ipod not recognized by Itunes, please help!!

    Hi,
When I connect my ipod to my computer the follwing message comes up-
"USB device not recognized- One of the USB devices attatched to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it."
I've tried everything I can think of... downloading the latest software updates and the latest versions of itunes etc but still no progress.
When I attempt to configure the ipod using the software supplied with it or one of the software updates issued on the site the ipod and computer both freeze and nothing happens.
The Ipod is recognized by my computer but there is no sign of it in itunes.
    Has anyone got any suggestions!?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks, James

    >I should mention that on my second try installing it I was able to upload songs to it, however it seemed that the songs I unchecked made it and the checked ones did not.
Hmmm... it may have to do with the song format?

  • Ipod not recognized by iTunes, won't update

My 4thGen ipod suddenly isn't being recognized by itunes. I've trying resetting, no help. I get an "ipod needs formatted" window, so when I try to run the ipod updater, the ipod still isn't recognized. But in MyComputer, it is recognized as "e drive".
I recently bought a new laptop and had everything moved from the old one and the ipod was synching perfectly, but this just started happening. I think the only thing that changed since my last synching was I installed Norton Antivirus.
    Thanks for the help...

A connection problem, it seems. Have you tried to disable Norton AntiVirus just to see if it helps?
I also suggest you charge your iPod fully (using an iPod AC charger) before connecting it to your laptop.

Have you tried the this part of the omne link you post:
    Additional Information
In rare circumstances, your device may be recognized after reinstalling iTunes, but after you restart your Mac, the device may not be recognized again. If this happens, and you are using Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard), please follow the steps in this article.
The link you provided is confusing since the first line give you the link for Windows and second for a Mac.

I got a new Ipod and it is not recognized by Itunes. I have reinstalled itunes. I have tried to reset the ipod. It also does not show up on Windows Explorer. I tried changing things in the MSCONFIG file and it still did not work. The USB ports work and I have checked that by plugging in an external HD. Any suggestions?
