IPOD photos not copying to PC

Can someone please tell me why I cant copy all my photos from my IPOD to my computer? When I open the DCIM folder on the IPOD drive and search through the folders I cant see every single image that appears on my IPOD. I have about 20 or so folders of images and each folder is missing photos. Its seems very mysterious if I can see them on my IPOD but I cant see them while browsing through the folders via my PC.
Is it something I am doing incorrectly to copy these images across?

Is there any way to copy my photos from ipod to my pc, I lost my hard drive and all my pics. So I just have on my ipod. If not can I still sync my ipod for songs without losing pics?
If you copied photos to your iPod using the full resolution option, enable disk use, open your iPod in "my computer" in Windows or Finder on a Mac, open the photos folder then open the "full resolution" folder and drag the photos out of that folder to your desktop. For enabling disk use look here.
Disk Use.
If you only copied the photos as thumbnails, you can't do this so you'll need a program such as this one.

  • Windows XP + iTunes: (sync) photos not copied...cannot be displayed on ipod

    Hello all,
I'm sorry if this is a known and solved issue but I'm really frustrated about it.
I have bought a brand new ipod Classic 80GB. My system is running Windows XP SP2 (up to date) and iTunes 7.5.0.20. I have an NTFS Hard Drive (2 Partitions, C and D) and a FAT32 Hard Drive (1 Partition, E).
Every time I try to sync my ipod through iTunes with a video or photo I get the following error message: "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod IPOD_NAME because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
What is this? I have followed the photo (and video) sync procedure to the letter. On my laptop (also Win XP SP2), iTunes works just fine! So there's nothing wrong with my photos/videos.
I looked around the Internet and found there's a similar issue in Windows Vista with RAID and/or NTFS. I do NOT have RAID or Vista.
It there a known bug also in Windows XP? Is there a fix expected?
I tried moving my photos on a USB FAT32 Stick but still I was unable to sync them with my ipod.
Any help or information will be much appreciated.

Near as I can tell, iTunes DOES NOT like a JPEG with an embedded color profile. I too have been seeing a simliar issue and did some troubleshooting last night to arrive at this conclusion.
Pictures exported from Adobe Lightroom would sync to my iPod Touch via iTunes without any issue. However, Pictures saved from Adobe Photoshop would fail with the error "Some of your photos, including the photo PHOTO_NAME, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be displayed on your iPod."
This set me to looking at the differences in the JPEGS that Lightroom was creating vs. the ones that Photoshop was creating. I finally arrived on the inclusion of the color profile.
Pictures exported from Lightroom, while converted to the sRGB color space, did not include the profile in the image and sync via iTunes just fine. Photoshop, on the other hand, automatically includes the profile when saving as a JPEG and these pictures WILL NOT sync via iTunes. Even if you tell Photoshop to not include a color profile, it includes a piece of metadata that says the profile is not specified (which is distinctly different from Lightroom which omits the metadata entirely.)
Choosing File|Save for Web... (as opposed to File|Save As...) in Photoshop does not include any color profile (just like exporting from Lightroom) and syncs via iTunes just fine.
I'm very curious to know if the images that you (and others) are having problems sync have, for some reason, a color profile embedded in them. In Windows Explorer, you can right-click on a picture, choose Properties, select the Details tab and look for the Color representation property. My assumption is if it is blank, the picture will sync fine, but if it is anything else it will not sync.
It'd be great to get confirmation from Apple if this is indeed an issue - that JPEGs with embedded color profiles are not sync'd with iTunes. I'm going to do a few more tests today and see, if by chance, including a Mac color space on the image enables it to sync or not.

  • IPod Photo not recognized on Windows XP

I bought my Ipod Photo more than a year ago--and I've had numerous problems with it. Before my one-year-limited-warranty expired, Apple replaced my first iPod Photo for a brand new one--the one I have now.
The iPod itself seems to be working fine. However, one day it froze so I had to reset it--losing all of my music. Then I plugged it into my computer, but to my surprise, not one of the songs on my iTunes was transferred to my iPod.
When plugged into the computer, the "Do Not Disconnect" screen appears, and iTunes does open. However, nothing more happens. It seems like iTunes may recognize the iPod for a bit, then that's it.
Please help with me with my problem!
acer Aspire 3000 notebook   Windows XP   brand new computer

I have had much the same problem. I originally ordered the 40G ipod, and was 'upgraded' to the 60G (this was when the 60G was first released). The thing has NEVER worked properly! When it does connect and upload music, it's OK....until I would try to connect it again to add new stuff. More often than not, it would need to be completely reset, losing everything in memory. Needless to say, I haven't used it much. Now I am planning a trip and wanted to bring along some tunes. I've charged and reset the ipod, I'm running the latest iTunes version, and still nothing. It's not recognized in either windows or iTunes. The best it can do is tell me it needs to be reformatted, but then it just sits there forever saying 'Do Not Disconnect'. I'd love to be able to just get to the point where I could restore or update the software, but that seems impossible.
At this point, I really would like to upgrade to a movie-capable ipod, but my experience so far leaves much to be desired. Any suggestions?

  • Ipod photo not recognised

Today I updated to itunes 10.2.2 Now my Ipod photo is no longer recognised and will not even reset. It was working fine under 10.2.1 after an initial struggle.
I can nget it into disk mode but it sill doesn't appear when plugged in. Any ideas?

When you have the iPod in Disk Mode and connected to your PC, does it appear in as a mounted drive in My Computer (or just Computer)?
If so, try reformatting it using the tools provided by Windows.
Have you considering re-installing iTunes as well?

  • 60GB iPod Photo Not Syncing/Connecting/Showing (New March 2005)

I have an 4G iPod photo that has worked flawlessly until one morning it stopped syncing. That is, showing up at all on the desktop. I have a Dual G5 Rev A PowerMac. No connection via FireWire 800, 400, or USB 2.0.
It shows up once every 20 to 50 tries. Does not show up on my wife's iBook via USB 2.0 either.
The last time it installed, I did run Disk Utility and reinstalled the iPod software to no avail. The iPod plays fine, has plenty of battery time, and charges just fine off the AC adapter. I replaced the battery with the same results.
I have done the 5 "R's" multiple times, and reinstalled OS X 10.4.7 also.
No errors, no Sad iPod, no syncing.
    Say it: What's Up???

  • IPod Photo not recognized

I have a 4th generation iPod Photo.  I am running the newest version of iTunes (11.1.1) on the newest version of OS X (10.8.5).  When I plug the iPod into the USB on the Mac, it will not mount.  First I tried the USB on the wired keyboard.  That didn't work, so I plugged it directly into the tower.  One would think that that would be a sure thing, but noooo.  Therefore, iTunes does not recognize it.  Why?  It worked fine last week.  I've replaced the battery about a month or so ago and everything was fine until now.  Replacing the battery shouldn't have anything to do with this.  Should it?

Yes, it operates just fine when I'm playing any audio.  When I plug the USB into the keyboard, a window pops up on the screen saying that there isn't enough power to run the iPod.  That didn't happen before I replaced the battery.  Then I plugged the USB cable directly into the Mac Pro tower.  Usually, it would either open iTunes and mount or just mount if iTunes is already opened.  This time it just wouldn't mount at all.  The iPod screen showed the red circle with the line through it and said, "Do not disconnect," even though it wasn't mounted.  I went ahead and disconnected it any way.  Nothing happened to the iPod, by the way.
After a while, I tried it again and everything worked perfectly.  I unmounted it and remounted it several times and each time it worked as expected.  I guess the first attempts were just hiccups.
Regarding charging, that's a whole other matter.  I don't use the computer to charge it because I tend to forget that the iPod is plugged in and invariably shut down the Mac.  As we all know, doing that drains the iPod battery.  I always charge it using the wall wart.  Sometimes it will show the battery icon with the lightening bolt and I will leave it plugged in overnight even though the icon sometimes dissappears.  When I start it the next morning, it would show that it didn't charge at all even though it is showing the battery icon with the electric plug.  Other times I would plug in the charger and it would charge quite nicely.  As I said, my 60GB iPod Photo now has a new battery and it is behaving a little differently than it did before.

  • Edited photo not copied to my photostream

I used Photo to edit a photo in my photo stream and saved it. The edited version appeared in my camera roll, but was not copied into my photostream as I had expected. I then took a picture. That picture appeared in my camera roll, and was quickly copied to my photo stream. I am using an iPad and of IOS 7.0.4.

Ooops! Should have waited before posting. Those missing new photos still not in My Photo Stream.
But my iMac iPhoto is now offering to import those missing photos.

  • Ipod Photo Not syncing

    Hello,
I've tried to run a search trough the FAQ's and the threads here and have not come across an answer.
I'm trying to put some photos on my Ipod Nano 4Gb. I have about 30mb of space and the photos only take up about 1mb.
I'm using Windows and the latest Itunes software and just updated the nano firmware today. I've checked off the photos folder i want to sync with. however everytime i hit Update Ipod. It never adds any of my photos.
I manually put my music on my Nano. (i have 20 gb+ of music)
    Ideas?

First you plug it in. In iTunes, your iPod's name will come up on the left side, and a fourth little box will pop up on the bottom right side of the screen....follow me?.......
Next, you click that new little box on the bottom right (looks like a tiny iPod).....on the very top of the new window that opens, click the tab "iPod". A second set of tabs appears. Click "Photos".
Now, open a new window that has "My Pictures" in it. Create a "new folder" that has every picture you wish to add to your nano in it. Remember where it is and the name of it.
Go back to iTunes (where you are under the "Photos" tab.)
Check this box - "Synchronize photos from:"
Click the arrow down and select "Choose folder..."
Choose that folder that holds all the nano pictures. The one you were supposed to remember. Click "OK".
Check this box - "Copy all photos"
    Click "OK".
Now your back on the regular iTunes page.
Wait just a minute, then look at the bottom right side of the screen, above those 4 little boxes.
    Mine says "8 photos".
It should tell you however many photos are in your iPod....
    Now, disconnect your Nano.
Click Photos on your iPod.....and there you go!!!.....they should be right there on your Nano.

  • Ipod syncing not copying music to device

When syncing my ipod, the music doesnt copy over although itunes shows the music as loaded on the device. My other data option seems to be rather large as well making me think my music is being copied over as something else? My itunes and ipod are up to date. I have an ipod nano.

    Hi oliviafromroodepoort,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPod nano. If you are having unusual usage issues (not playing back music/not recognizing synced music), you may want to try restoring your iPod nano back to factory settings, then resyncing your data from iTunes. I have an iPod touch 2G (32GB) and I am having trouble syncing my photos. I have about 2,000 in my library and only 110 are copied. Is there any way to fix this. I don't want to restore, but I will if that is what it takes

is there enough room on the ipod?
have you checked all of the folders you want to sync in the photos tab on your ipod's page?

  • 60G iPod Photo Not Booting via Firewire

I cloned my hard drive to my iPod for backup, but it will not boot via firewire. I can select it in my Startup Disk control panel, so it's seeing the system. It used to work. Anyone else having problems booting? I'm wondering if this last updater broke the ability to boot via firewire.

  • Ipod photoes were copied onto another ipod and orginal photos are gone now can i get them back?

okk so i have 2 ipod touches and i wanted both to have the same music and videos so i synced them both to one itunes. but then after i synced them both they were fine  after i noticed that the ipos have the same photos. from the device. so now one ipods original photos are gone and only have the photos from the ipod that was synced first. is there any way to get the origional photos back the ones before the sync????

If the backup of the one iPod contains the photos just restore one iPod from that backup. Otherwise you are out of luck unless the PhtoStream contains the photos.

  • After windows system restore, most ipod data not copying

I recently did a system restore on my computer using windows XP. When I tried to update my ipod, it said that 81 items were not transferred because my computer was not 'authorized' for them. All of the items were on my computer long before the system restore and were all purchased legally from the itunes store. So now most of my music, podcasts, and all of my tv shows won't sync to my ipod. I did a restore on the ipod, but that didn't help. Does anyone know what to do?

Is the new memory according to recommended specs?
there is no connection between battery and memory as far as i know. but while restoring OS to factory settings, it is advised that you keep original factory hardware (use old memory sticks etc.).
