IPod playback position skips ahead after pause

I listen to books and podcasts on my Nano. If I unplug the earbuds and then resume playback later on the position is about 15 seconds ahead of where I left off. Not good when listening to the mentioned audio files.
Any suggestions on how to eliminate this problem are greatly appreciated!

I listen to podcasts and audiobooks as well but I am not seeing the same issue you are reporting. Are you able to see that issue immediately if you unplug and plug back in and start playback?

  • Ipod wont reset, turns off after pausing

My Ipod Mini will start playing songs when music is selected from the menu but if the song is paused, it pauses but when you try to play the song again, the song plays for 2 or 3 seconds then the ipod turns off. Also after the music is started then the hold is put on, the screen goes blank again and music stops. I tried to reset it to no avail. When I disconnect it from my computer I right click on the ipod button then eject so I dont think that is the problem. Please help if possible.

  • Music Playback, Iphone skips songs after 5mins of playback

Hi, My Iphone5s skips to next songs without completing the current one. I have noticed this in songs larger than 5mins. Iphone moves to next song exaclty after 5mins of playback. How do I stop this, Is there any settings?

    Hello deepvil
The way to resolve the issue with playback skipping is to remove the songs and then sync them. If it continues, then you will need to reimport the songs into iTunes. If they were purchased, you can download them directly to your iPhone without syncing with iTunes.

  • IPod Classic 160GB skipping songs after a few minutes play

I've got an annoying problem with my iPod Classic 160GB.  It gets to about 3 minutes or so into a song (sometimes more sometimes less then just skips to the next one.  It's about a couple of years old (I got it as a replacement when the battery of my 120GB Classic failed) and has been excellent.
It doesn't just do it when I'm walking along - I've put it on my desk now for experimental purposes and it's the same thing.  They all play fine in iTunes.
Most of my iTunes recordings are now Apple Lossless - the lower bitrate songs and podcasts seem to play through fine.  I've hard-reset and restored the machine.
I have heard some noises coming from the hard disc - could the HDD be failing?  Very disappointed if so - and what else can be done short of converting my large iTunes library to a lower bitrate?  But that defeats the object of having the Classic's high capacity which is the ability to store and play higher quality recordings. It never did this in the past - nor on my original 120GB

I've done the iPod diagnostic tests on the HDD (select-menu then select-back) and it comes up with no errors or bad sectors.  Hmm

  • How to determine the position in code after pause/abort

    Hi there.
I've been searching for this for quite a while now, but I didn't find a solution, although I might just have looked in the wrong direction.
Problem is: I'm trying to find a way to see where my program was (i.e. which part of the code it was execution) the moment I click on pause or abort. (Like the "pause" button present in most modern IDEs, when pressed, it halts the tread and jumps to the code-line or ASM-instruction the CPU was executing).
The reason: I'm using LabView to control a few instruments to do some measurements on OPVCs. During long measurements involving multiple parameter-sweeps and hence numerous reconfigurations of both function generators and scopes, the program sometimes stops, or better "stalls".
That is, the front panel's still responsive, but the measurement stops. I don't know whether the problem is related to my program or the scope (it's a LeCroy 434 Wavesurfer) or the FG (a Tabor series) - but I cannot find out either because I don't know what the program did last. FYI: when watching the program's execution using the Execution Highlighting tool, the error doesn't show up, so I guess it's some sort of timing issue.
I'm currently installing the Execution Trace toolkit in the hope it will help, but still, any help would be great!
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

Do you have any other means to stop your program currently?
Yes, in theory... in the last few minutes I reviewed some code I wrote months ago when starting with the development and saw some possible dead-locks with the UI. I have two "Stop"-Buttons, one that stops the measurement and one that exits the wohle program, the latter via an event, the first get's polled in the measurement loop via reference. I read elsewhere that this might not be the best way of doing it, as accessing the UI outside the main event loop might cause some problems.
I've got some spare lab-time today and will look into this again, unfortunately I cann't test the OutputDebugString-Thingy on my development machine as it's on linux.
Anyway, it's quite exciting that I finally found a board where peopple really try to helpt, even if the questions ask might not be as constructive as theay could/should be. Thank you very much for that!
Generally it is best to keep UI elements out of your processing code. Not only will a property node force execution to the UI thread it also tightly couples your UI and processing tasks. The prefered method is to use some type of messaging to the processing tasks. This can be implemented using queues, notifiers or user events. Your processing tasks now have a defined interface for interacting with them which makes reuse of the code easier. It is also more maintainable since you can completely change the UI without requiring a change to the processing code.

  • IPod Nano 4G Skips During Playback with Apple Lossless Songs

My iPod Nano 4th Generation has been consistently skipping a brief portion of music about every 5th Apple Lossless song during playback. I've been working unsuccessfully to resolve this issue with tech support and fixed the problem when I disabled the energy level setting in the playback menu. While this is a hit to battery life, the skipping no longer occurs. Hoping that this issue is permanently resolved in an upcoming software update.

    Hi,
I brought my ipod yesterday and had the exact same issue. it would skip certain songs frequently and was extremely frustrating. Im not sure if this is the case for all ipods (i have an ipod nano 16Gb 4th gen, with firmware 1.0.4), but i fixed my issue in a series of steps. Im not sure which exact part of my method did the job, but here it is:
    1. plugged it into iTunes and clicked "restore" under the tab "summary". WARNING: This will delete everything, and restore factory settings. im not sure if this is necessary, but youll need to delete the songs which skip anyway.
    2. pressed the eject button IN ITUNES (under "devices", and next to your ipod icon), ejecting the ipod. wait for the ipod to specify when it is ready for it to be unplugged. proceed to unplug said ipod.
    3. Choose the language of your ipod, and go into playback settings and (settings/playback or something) and turn OFF "shake" and "energy saver"
    4. Plug your ipod into your computer again and drag all the songs onto your ipod using itunes.
    5. after it has finished copying, WAIT until the ipod no longer says "synching", and until it says "connected"
    6. Press the eject button IN ITUNES (again, under devices, and next to your ipod icon)
    7. Eject when the ipod says it is ok to do so.
As i said, im not sure which part of the method did it for me, but i think it might be the way in which i was ejecting it. Before i was ejecting the ipod on my desktop. I think it is important to eject it using itunes. Anyway this fixed my ipod. Im not sure if it will do the same to yours, but if its making you very angry (to say the least) like it made me, its worth a try i guess. I would appreciate it if people let me know if this works.

  • Is the iPod touch 4g supposed to remember playback positions reached in iTunes?

    Mine doesn't.
Playback position appears to be one-way - iPod to iTunes.
I've stopped listening to large files (long podcasts, audiobooks) in iTunes because I have to manually return to the same position after my iPod is disconnected from iTunes.
My old iPod classic doesn't have the problem - so I'm assuming this is a software issue.
    Thanks

The answer according to the local Apple Genius bar is - iTunes doesn't send last playback position to the iPod touch device.

  • IPod not remembering playback position

hi all. i have converted many movies files into the mp4 for my 5g 30gb ipod (mainly from .avi files already converted from DVD's) and my ipod wont remember the playback position. if i watch a movie, stop, auto-sync my ipod with itunes, the position is reset.
it used to stay even after syncing. ive already tried the "reset all settings" from the menu, but it doesnt seem to help. and yes i have up-to-date firmware.
any help would be appreciated, its very frustrating to have to search for the spot, especially since it just wears down the battery even more.

  • ITunes 10 forgets podcast playback position after Mac restart

iTunes 10 forgets playback position of podcasts (but does remember they have been played, but not finished so are not auto-deleted, thankfully) after I just restart my Mac, but not after I quit and relaunch iTunes. Everything was fine in iTunes 9, but once I installed 10 playback positions are totally forgotten after my Mac is turned off. Weird, huh? Why are they not being lost if I just restart the app as well?
No other app's prefs are are affected. Only iTunes 10 is bugged.

Here's a wrinkle: I still have iTunes 9 (9.2 or whatever the latest version is), not iTunes 10, and I had a similar problem today. Could this be related?
Having listened to a bunch of podcasts on my iPhone, I synced with my iBook, which put those same podcasts back on to my iPhone, showing as either unplayed or partially-played, depending on their status the LAST time I synced, which was probably 3 or more days ago. No new podcasts were added.
All the posts on here seem to be from the last week, so I wonder if this problem has to do not with iTunes 10, but with the iOS firmware. I know there was a recent firmware update that I installed on my iPhone 3G.
Well I've not got any iOS devices, just an 80GB iPod classic and second gen-shuffle. Yet this issue arose for me after updating to iTunes 10 shrug

  • Forgetting playback position after using timer to stop playing

Prior to updating to ios 8 I would set the timer on the clock app to stop playing my music/audiobook after a set amount of time. Then in the morning, I could turn on the music app again and continue playing the album or audiobook from where it had stopped.
Since the update it doesn't seem to be remembering the playback position, however I only have this problem when I've used the timer. If I manually pause the song, then it remembers as "now playing". I've been scouring the internet and no one else seems to be experiencing this. I updated to 8.1 and I'm still having this problem. I went into itunes and checked Get Info --> Options --> Remember playback position.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem using Apple's Music and Clock apps on iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.  I don't know why this changed, as I had been using this function for years on previous iPhones / iOS to play audio-books at night, and then easily find the place where I dozed off the next night.
While I try to keep the array of apps on my phone limited to Apple originals, this problem led me to explore. And I found that 2 free apps - 1. Music Timer and 2. Beat - that allow me to do what I have always done previously with the Apple apps. That is, Beat plays a track until turned off by Music Timer, and then Beat resumes playing where it stopped the next evening. Read the on-screen directions before using these apps, and it is then simple.
I like the Beat interface a lot too, although you need to adjust to the fine tuning system that allows you to move backwards and forwards along a track. It has a clever circle system that requires holding the touch on the screen for a second or two before it activates. Much nicer then Apples Music app.

  • Playback position on iPod not Syncing to iTunes. Nano 5, long mp3 files. I have remember playback position selected in Options, and that works fine. But position (45 minutes) on iPod and 2 minutes on iTunes do not get together

Long audio files (mp3 books) on ipod nano 5 play fine,  Ipod remembers playback position (I set the flag in info-options) but after listeniong for a while on ipod, I expect that a sync to PC should update the playback position in iTunes.  Thus I should be able to subsequently sync a second device to iTunes and have the position passed along to the second device.  This is not working for me.  I have the latest nano software, and iTunes 11.1.2.32.  Have just re-installed iTunes per troubleshooting suggestioons on support web page.
Is this a format problem (mp3 issue) or something else?

Reply seems to be theway to elaborate on my origi;nal post.
I have now tried turning off Manually manage music and video on the iPod.  One of the 3 long audio files (books as mp3) reloaded to the iPod when I made the chnge, but no loss in my case..  Playback position on iPod seemed to load into iTunes (looked good while iPod was connected in Playlists and Library/Music, but as soon as I disconnected the iPod the saved positions reverted to the old values.  One more theory shot down.  Since my goal is to keep several playback devices in step, I am back to jotting down the latest position and manually forward spacing the alternate device to pick up where I left off.
This seems so logical a use that I am baffled about why it is so hard (impossible?).

  • TS1412 My iPod shuffle periodically skips across multiple songs...playing a song or two and then jumping forward or back multiple songs after playing only moments of a song. Please tell me what I can do to fix this. Thanks

My iPod shuffle periodically skips across multiple songs...playing a song or two in full and then jumping forward or back multiple songs after playing only moments of a song. Please tell me what I can do to fix this situation. Thank you very much.

This is in regards to a 4th gen 40gb clickwheel ipod.
Hi, i've also been having a very similar problem with my ipod as well. I find that regardless of which windows-based pc i use (either my xp laptop @ home, or my win2000 desktop @ work) windows and itunes refuses to recognise my ipod. In windows explorer it will show it as a removable drive, but if i click on it, windows freezes. If I try to disconnect it, I cant because windows keeps reporting that 'the device is being used, try disconnecting later' and so then i shut down my laptop to disconnect it safely.
Lately, like you, i've also noticed that clicking sound it makes. It happens when i connect my ipod to my computer - like the drive inside it is constantly restarting or something, and i get it when i'm playing / charging it in my dock. I've also noticed that when it's playing whilst charging, it just freezes on a song, then skips a couple of songs.
I've just discovered the disgnostic tools on my ipod, so i think i'll run a couple of tests (ie HDD scan) and depending on the outcome, i'll go visit the apple store.

  • 5G iPod skipping songs after iPod Update 1.1

After I updated my 5G 60 Gig video iPod to Update 1.1, my iPod started to skip certain songs. I have tried erasing the songs, importing them again from the CD, and reloading them back to the iPod and the iPod still won't play those SPECIFIC songs! Never had this problem before the update.
Btw, if I restore my iPod will I have to reload all the songs/files again?
    Thank you for your help!

Ok... This is so strange. If I import those skipped/unplayable songs from the CDs again using a different encoder (MP3 instead of AAC), the resulting songs would play fine on the iPod. Again, never had this problem before Update 1.1.
