IPod playback stops frequently

during playback with earbuds, my iPod classic stops

I recently had this.
I took mine into a local Apple shop after having the iPod for about 5 years. It was unfixable and something to do with the jack where the headphone slot goes in.
As for technics i cannot comment, but after i did this ( as mine was well out of warrenty ) they basically give me 10% off a brand new one and took my old one. Might be an idea if it is an older iPod?

  • How do I get iPod to stop between songs?

How do I get iPod to stop between songs? A simple thing. I want to play a selection, then have the iPod stop, then select another song, have my iPod play it and stop, and so forth. What am I missing?

You aren't missing anything. Under normal playback conditions it isn't possible to do what you want.
The only way would be to put individual songs or selections of songs into playlists.

  • Netflix playback stops and dumps me back to app

I watch a lot of Netflix on my Apple TV (I binge watch) and once or twice while watching it, the streaming playback stops and I'm looking at the menu screen showing the first episode I've watched - if I'm more than one episode in.  Sometimes I'm back to the Netflix main menu.
Has anyone experienced this?  Is there a fix?  I've watched Netflix on my PS3 and this never happened, could it be the Netflix app on the Apple TV or the Apple TV?

It's a 45mbps internet speed which right now is 50mbps - at least between my house and the closest server, can't speak for the internet speed for the intervening hops.  Would help to know what part of the country Netlfix's servers are, then I can check speed between here and the actual servers (as close as possible).  I never get buffering on the PS3, and Netflix loads a lot faster there.  Haven't had this happen on my Roku either, which makes me think it's not necessarily the network.
I did try googling the problem and there were a lot of hits, mostly all saying 'network.'
I looked at my network settings to check the DNS setting and it's set to the ip address of my router.  Where does it get that information, from the router itself?  I have 2 wireless networks in the house which doesn't bother the PS3 but might not be good for the Apple TV.  I have a Uverse router serving my tv and internet with a Time Capsule plugged in behind it via ethernet.  I wasn't able to find anything good as far as advice for configuring the second wireless router other than to put it in bridge mode, which it is.  It's not working quite as well as it did before - frequently it never loads videos embedded on facebook or on YouTube.  It COULD be network, I wouldn't rule it out, but this is something that never happens with the PS3 or the Roku.

  • HT1657 I have rented 2 movies on apple tv. Both of them stop frequently by freezing on the screen for extended periods. My time is running out. I've yet to watch a film right through as a movie experience. Is this something that often happends? Is it fixa

I have rented two movies on appleTV. Neither play all the way through. Both stop frequently and freeze for extended periods. It has been more than 10 hours since I downloaded them. What should I do to watch a movie all the way through? My tv is a year old.

    Hello there billytea,
From what you are describing here, it seems as though we may need to look into the network configuration. Here is an article named Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting playback performance that I feel has great information about troubleshooting these types of streaming issues and recommendations to optimize it. You can find the article here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3623. First a bit about the minimum requirements for streaming HD and SD content:
    Broadband Internet connection
For the best viewing experience when renting or purchasing iTunes content on Apple TV, you need a broadband Internet connection. A sustained 8 Mbit/s or faster Internet connection is recommended for viewing 1080p high-definition movies and TV shows, 6 Mbit/s or faster is recommended for viewing 720p content, and 2.5 Mbit/s or faster for standard-definition content. Internet connection speeds may vary depending on your ISP and other factors.
If you are not sure what your Internet speed is, you can ask your ISP, or use an online bandwidth test from a computer that is located on the same network as your Apple TV.
If your internet meets these requirements I recommend following the troubleshooting in the article.
If streaming performance issues occur even with a high-speed broadband Internet connection, consider these suggestions:
    Check your home network
Along with a broadband Internet connection, your Apple TV also relies on a high-speed local network to play media content quickly and reliably.Wireless connectionWired (Ethernet) connection
To connect Apple TV to your network wirelessly, Apple TV requires a wireless router or Base Station that is 802.11 a, g, or n compatible for streaming video.
Your Apple TV should also be within a reasonable range of your base station or router, and in an environment with minimal wireless interference. To verify the strength of your wireless connection on your Apple TV, from the main menu, go to Settings > General > About
If you continue to experience slow playback performance when viewing movies and TV shows, connect your Apple TV to your local network via a wired (Ethernet) connection. If streaming performance improves noticeably, then you should consider updating or troubleshooting your Wi-Fi base station or router.
If you are connecting your Apple TV to your network via Ethernet, you should use a 10/100BASE-T or faster Ethernet network.
If you continue to experience slow playback performance while connected to your local network via a wired (Ethernet) connection, consider contacting your Internet service provider (ISP) to increase the speed of your connection. You can also reduce the video resolution of the iTunes Store content as is described in the next section.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • IPod randomly stops playing?

Sometimes, if I am listening to music while using Safari for example, the iPod will stop playing at random and sometimes stops playing and brings me to the menu screen at random.

I have this issue with mobile Safari too. It tends to happen to me while playing a large track, for example a 4 or 5 hour MP3 of a speech, rather than typical ~4 minute songs.
A workaround for me is to pause my Safari activities every 10 minutes or so to bring up the "now playing" iPod screen for about 20 seconds, then back to Safari for another 10 minutes. This method is annoying but ensures uninterrupted iPod playback while multitasking.

  • After restoring iPod it stops syncing half way

After restoring iPod, it stops syncing while it is downloading music with an error message "Attempting to copy to the disk. iPod failed. The disc could not be read from or written to".
My music is less memory than what my iPod can hold.
    What's up with this?
    THX!

It's possible that your iPod's hard drive has started to fail. Take your iPod and place your right thumb on the centre SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together with SELECT for a further 6 seconds. Your iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Press MENU for *Manual Test*, then select *IO > HardDrive > HDSMARTData* to reveal your stats. For comparison here are mine for my 2 year old 6th Generation Classic:
    Retracts: 889
    Reallocs: 12
    Pending Sectors: 0
    PowerOn Hours: 2202
    Start/Stops: 894
    Temp: Current 24c
    Temp: Min 10c
    Temp: Max 50c
Take a note of your results. When finished press *SELECT & MENU* for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again.
With modern disc drives sectors are no longer marked bad by a disc scan, if the SMART firmware detects a sector it has trouble accessing it will attempt to invisibly reallocate it to a spare area of the disc.
Note that I've only 12 remapped sectors and none pending. To help explain what the numbers mean here is an extract from the Wikipedia S.M.A.R.T. article:
    *Reallocated Sectors Count*
Count of reallocated sectors. When the hard drive finds a read/write/verification error, it marks this sector as "reallocated" and transfers data to a special reserved area (spare area). This process is also known as remapping, and "reallocated" sectors are called remaps. This is why, on modern hard disks, "bad blocks" cannot be found while testing the surface – all bad blocks are hidden in reallocated sectors. However, as the number of reallocated sectors increases, the read/write speed tends to decrease. The raw value normally represents a count of the number of bad sectors that have been found and remapped. Thus, the higher the attribute value, the more sectors the drive has had to reallocate.
    *Pending sector count*
Number of "unstable" sectors (waiting to be remapped, because of read errors). If an unstable sector is subsequently written or read successfully, this value is decreased and the sector is not remapped. Read errors on a sector will not remap the sector (since it might be readable later); instead, the drive firmware remembers that the sector needs to be remapped, and remaps it the next time it's written.
Large numbers of Reallocs or Pending Sectors would suggest your drive is failing and that you may need to repair or replace your iPod. Check your stats after another attempt to update your iPod. If the numbers increase that again points to hard drive failure. While it won't be good news at least you'll know it isn't some random software problem and you can decide what to do next.

Please help,my ipod touch stops playing songs sometimes a few seconds in and then other times halfway. It cant be the song because different songs do it each time. Ive tried to restore it and it makes no difference :(

  • IPOD CLASSIC STOPS SYNCING HALF WAY THROUGH

my ipod classing stops syncing half way through and says could not be synced can anyone help me please?

It could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive.  I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread.  He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3784647?start=0&tstart=0
If necessary, post the resultings numbers and we can verify what the next steps to take.

currently ive reset it - nothing has happened
ive let the battery drain itself then recharged it to see if that would make a difference - no difference
    Help ASAP needed

Try restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. If your iPod is with in the one-year warrranty, not abused and defective Apple will replace it.

  • Why did my 4th generation iPod touch stop working with my docking station?

I have an Altec docking station and my iPod suddenly stopped working on it.  The station comes on and makes a beeping noise like it is connected when I insert the iPod.  However, the music will only come out of the iPod.  The docking station will charge the battery on the iPod, so I assume it isn't broken.

    - While charging try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if still problem restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - However, I really think that the iPod has a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.  If defective Apple should give you a refurbished iPod.

My 160GB ipod classic stopped whilst playing music and will not turn back on despite having almost a full battery. I have tried connecting to itunes and a docking station but will not turn on at all - HELP?!
I've had this from new for 2 years, the battery life is excellent and lasts for days so I know it's not a power issue as it was fully charged that morning. No signs of connection in itunes, it's not showing as a connected device.
    Can anyone please help?

  • Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto the shuffle. My laptop crashed whish had all my new music

Alright, so my ipod touch stopped working, but I can still connect it to itunes, but my friend gave me his old nano. I was wondering how I could get my more updated songs from my ipod touch onto th nano. My laptop crashed whitch had all my new music, and im afraid if I sync my Ipod touch to the desktop with all my old songs, ill lose all my newer ones which I dont want to happen because I want them on my nano. Im sorry for the confusing topic im just so lost.

All you have to do is connect your new iPod to the computer that has the library for your old iPod.
When iTunes comes up, click on your new iPod under Devices.
At the top of the Summary Page click Music.
    Click Synch Music.
Do the same thing for Photos, Apps, Movies and so on...
    Now just synch the iPod.

  • Can You Get iPod To Stop/Pause At The End Of Each Track

I really need my iPod to stop/pause at the end of each track/song, but it insists on playing right through a playlist one song after another. Does anybody know if there is a way of achieving this, there doesn't seem to be anything in the manuals about this. My iPod is new and is the 60GB color screen model. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks, Peter.

Hi boaster, is this an apple accessory, or where else will I find one? When you say there will be some manual intervention, I presume you have to press the button to actually stop it at the end of each track??
Dave W. I've tried your suggestion and it works fine. Its also good because it keeps iPod within the correct playlist. The original suggestion of one track per playlist also works, but unfortuanatly iPod defaults to go back to the main menu at the end of every playlist so you then have to navigate back to where you need to be. Dave, it looks like your suggestion is the answer at the moment, many thanks, although would like to know more about this 'airclick' remote please. Cheers.

  • Playback stops

I have an HP Pavillion laptop (dv6) with Windows 7 and Premier Elements 4.0.  I have created slide show dvd's on this program before, but not on this laptop.  I am trying to preview the video to edit and it just stops on some slides.   I am a novice and don't know where to look to try to fix this problem.  Thanks for any help!

Please start you own new thread on your "Playback Stops" issue so that your details and troubleshooting do not get buried tacked on to the end of the thread of another. Problems with the same symptoms can (often do) have different causes.
But, wherever we discuss your issue, you will need to supply the details specific to your situation. So far we know Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit. What about the important information related to:
    a. properties of source media
    b. project preset set by you or the project...see Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio readings (even if they looked grayed out) if you do not know the project preset which should be matching the properties of the source media.
    c. lots more questions based on the answers to the basics
We will be watching for your follow up wherever it might be.
    Thank you.
