IPod playlist on home computer to work computer

Hi,
I have plugged my iPod into my work computer and it connects fine, no problem there.
But how do I listen to songs stored on my iPod via iTunes on my work computer?

Bree,
If I understand your question, you want to play you iPod's music through iTunes on a different computer.
This is very possible. I just did it myself as a test on our other PC. Granted, it was a Windows PC, but it did work. Should do the same for a Mac.
You need to connect the iPod to a computer that has iTunes and make sure that it does not auto-sync. Once connected, iTunes should display the iPod in the Source Pane. You will be able to select a song from the iPod to play over the computer.
Make sure that you are in 'Manual Update' mode when connected to the computer.

How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod
Another Easier Alternative:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys in Windows (CMD + Option keys on a Mac). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes. The iPod will then appear in the iTunes source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto-sync and then you can release the keys. This action may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
You can then ‘right-click‘ on the iPod icon in iTunes’ source column and select iPod Options, then check the box that says “Manually manage songs and playlists”. You can now manage your library without losing any songs on the iPod.

  • Can I use my iPod on my home computer and work computer?

This may be a very dumb question, but can I use my iPod on my home computer and work computer? I noticed that it seems to want to do weird things to my iPod if I try to hook it up on my work computer (I have all of my music on my home computer... it is backed up 1 or 2 times a week to preserve my music). Thanks for any help.

Can I homeshare between home computer and work computer?

Thank the music labels and movie studios.  Apple imposes this restriction due to demands from them in their effort to fight piracy.  Yes a pain but for Apple to sell all they do they have to follow some rules dictated to them.
Simple answer, it is the way it is.
Implement Home Sharing in iTunes so both machines can get the same libraries.

  • Outlook and iTunes, Home vs. Work Computer

I've been wanting to use my iPod as sort of a PDA. I understand how to sync with Outlook and all that.
If I sync my work computer's Outlook with my iPod, can I then sync my iPod with my home computer and have all my contacts synced to my home computer?

    hiya!
hmmmm. i guess it's going to depend on things like your administrative privileges on the work PC as opposed to your home PC, how fast one is at importing, and whatnot.
it might be worth starting off by doing a few trials on each computer to see how well they work with itunes and the ipod. then if you decide to settle on one rather than the other, the following resources might be helpful when it comes to consolidating everything back on one PC:
    Using iPod with multiple computers
Transferring songs to iPod using iTunes
Copying music between authorized computers with iTunes for Windows
(or if you decide to do the multiple computers thing, they might be helpful for that too.)
    love, b

  • Transferring music from home computer to work computer on itunes

can i transfer music from my home computer to my work computer using an external hard drive?

yes, if you want your whole library, look up where it is located under edit / preferences then under advanced, then copy that folder in windows explorer to the external then move it onto your work computer or if you want you can use you the external on your work by the same edit / preferences and clicking CHANGE... to tell if to look for the external drive.

  • Since adding Yosemite, my bookmarks bar shows bookmarks from a different computer (my work computer). How do I fix this?

I just upgraded to Yosemite, and now I see that my bookmarks bar in Safari has all of the content from my work computer. Same with my reading list. Eeek! I want to keep these separate.  How do I fix this?

    Hi ..
It sounds like the Mac that's just been upgraded to Yosemite has Safari enabled in iCloud to sync bookmarks and the reading list.
Open System Preferences > iCloud then deselect:  Safari

  • IPod touch 4 home button not working properly

I got my ipod in november 2010 and it worked fine up untill august where the home button just suddenly became undresponsive. I did not abuse my iPod i am very careful i have a case and no screen cracks/dents etc.. Now it works about 30% of the time and it is really annoying I had to turn on this awful feature where i geta virtual home button which is in the way of everything and i cant even arrange it properly. I am very dissapointed with apples express lane which provided absolutely no help and in their hardware. I have several freinds who got the same type of ipod at around the same time and they are having the same problems. Was it designed to do this? I am now wondering how much I am going to be charged for this. May I get it for free even though my warrenty expired very recently? thanks for the help

  • Home Sharing with Work computer PLEASE HELP

    This is so frustrating.
I have three computers, two personal and one from work. The two personal ones syncs perfect but the one from work just doesn't sync. I am assuming the firewall is closing traffic on the Home Sharing ports. Now, as you all know I cannot open ports myself and my tech admin refuses to do it as well. I m on the road every single week, and every time I charge my phone with my work laptop it syncs and delete all the stuff I have only on my home computer. this is so annoying.
    Any solutions for my problem?
Do you know if iTunes 9.1 solved this issue?
Any good apps for windows that do a better job in syncing itunes?
    Any other suggestions???
    Thanks
    IK

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Those are outdated instructions, you want iTunes > File > Home Sharing.

  • Want to use my ipod for Mac @ home and PC @ work....

I have a Mac at home and have my ipod set up for the Mac I guess. So I brought the ipod to work today to hook it up to itunes here on my PC, but itunes says only Windows formatted ipods can be used and that I have to do a restore on my ipod to use it.
I thought you could use the ipod on multiple computers? I thought it didn't matter if it was set for Mac or PC because you could still use it on both.
Any help? I want to connect my ipod at work so I can get the music on this computer. Thanks!!

Windows computers cannot read the file format the iPods are in when they are formatted for Mac use. However, Macs can read the Fat32 file format that the iPods go in when they are formatted for Windows.
To use the iPod with both computers, you'll have to first restore the iPod on your Windows computer (putting the iPod into Windows format).
The only downside is if there is an iPod software update, you won't be able to install that to the iPod from the Mac, just from Windows computers.

  • IPod Touch 2G Home button not working after OS4 upgrade

    Hi there,
hope someone can help. Upgraded an iPod Touch 2G to OS4.1 and teh home button will not work now normally, but will work if its attached to a PC and iTunes. Anyone seen this before and how to fix it?
    Cheers,
    Martin

    HI there,
thanks for the reply. Tried both of what you suggested, also tried the home button thing only working while plugged in with two computers and two different leads which is why I suspect is an operating system thing.
I may try downgrading the operating system next, just have to find a copy of an old one somewhere.
    Cheers,

  • My iPod Touch 4g home button doesnt work

Hello. I bought a refurbished iPod touch 4g last may. When i recieved it the home button was indented into the iPod. Normally the rim of the button is flush with the glass surrounding it. With mine it was pressed down a few millimeters. I thought it was odd but ot worked fine so I didnt care. After a while the home button became slightly unresponsive and had to be pressed slightly more firmly for it to register. It kept getting worse until a few weeks it stopped working altogether. Previously i had been too lazy but I decided to send it in to Apple becuase it still had a warranty. Earlier today i got it back with a note saying that I had damaged it and it wasnt covered by the warranty. I was so ****** off because this wasn't my fault. Now i have no ideas what to do. How much would it cost to get the digitizer replaced by Apple? Should I do it myself? Is there an easier fix? Can i prove it wasnt my fault? Is it cheaper to buy another iPod?
(just fyi my ipod never got wet or damaged, i always kept it in a cas and kept it safe, before i had a 2g ipod touch and it worked fine. Are the 4gs prone to breaking?)

Yes, it should be covered by the warranty unless you spilled something on the iPod.  However, have you tried the standed fixes of:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restoring the IPod to factory defaults/new iPod
to help ensure it is a hardware problem?

  • Ipod screen and home buttom wont work

my screen wont work, i cant press anything. and the home key isnt doing anything for me. i can only press the sleep bottom to make the screen blank but it wont go to power off mode. please help!!

Is it detected within iTunes? If so, have you tried to restore it using iTunes? Be aware that restoring it will wipe out whatever media you currently have on it.

  • Hey guys i could really use your help, my iPod touch 4g home button doesn' work at all! i don't know what happened to it, 1 min it worked just fine but then after i want to check it again it wont work and now i'm stuck on safari and have no way to go back

  • Home Computer, Work Computer - 1 iPhone am I out of luck?

Often, very very often I before I leave work I will want to put on some new podcast or song for the drive home. My work computer has little to no media on it (it is owned by work).
My main computer is at home with everything on it.
When leaving work, I cannot move anything to my iPhone. I can with my Nano, and have been doing this with many iPods.
What am I missing? Is the answer I need an iPod and an iPhone?

Well, you can sync you iPhone at work before you leave...that will replace everything with work related contents (including your podcast) and you can listen to that on the way home.
When you get home, you can then re-sync to your home computer and get everything back on from your home computer.
If you can do that with your iPod, then that's what i'd stick with. The iPhone does so much more in terms of contacts and content, etc. So that may be more of a hassle for you.
