Ipod Playlist problems after charging

Hi I have an Ipod Classic 160Gb. I have set up playlists and On The Go Playlists. When I charge the ipod the playlists reset and start from the beginning again rather than continuing on from the last played song. This happens in both types of playlists. How can i fix this or is it just something that happens with ipods.
Thanks

Dean1dj, iPod make copies of the ON-The-Go playlist, it is automatically increased, to the next highest number. You can see it in iTunes as On-The-Go 1,  On-The-Go 2 On-The-Go 3.
Unfortunately, the iPod, will always reset the ON-The-Go to blank, but you can copy the earlier On-The-Go playlist to a aptly named playlist and sync it back to the iPod.
There was an earlier post that there might be a bug with iTunes 10 series.
Have a nice day!

Ford Voice Control & iPod playlist problems
I am having problems with the voice control system and my video ipod (5th gen) in a new Ford Focus Coupè-Convertible which also has Bluetooth phone conectivity ( works great with my iPhone 3G) as well as USB & Voice Control
This is all done through a Sony audio unit (model Sony 6CD DAB) which has a Six disc CD changer built in, as well as the usual FM & AM Radio bands as well as DAB Radio.
My problem relates to the voice control of my ipod and playlists.
Now some commands work just great For example if I say the following sequence ( which the unit repeats back to me at each stage) it works great:
    "External Device"
    "iPod"
    "Play"
All works well as it starts playing whatever playlist the iPod was in prior to connection to the unit, or if no playlist had been selected it just plays the whole contents of the iPod. - It also works fine with the commands "Shuffle" or "Repeat".
But according to the user manual I am supposed to be able to play or select a specific playlist by voice command using the following syntax as quoted from the manual:
'...create playlists named with the structure "Ford<*>" where <*> is a number 1-10. For example "Ford7" without any spaces between "Ford" and the number.
So I made several playlist called
    Ford1
    Ford2
    Ford3
and so on up to Ford10.
Now according to the voice commands list I should say the following phrases which like before, are repeated back to me by the system:
    "External Device"
    "iPod"
    "Playlist"
    Then the unit responds with
    "Playlist Number Please"
Then according to the manual I should say the following:
    But when I say either
    'Ford1'
    Or
    '1'
Or any right up to 'Ford10' / '10'
It responds bystating that playlist number (X) not available.
I have also tried with the quotation marks ("") around the name eg "Ford1", but that has not worked either.
So I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem and knew a solution, or could tell me where I am going wrong.
Although my car is a UK model, I believe that this voice control system is available with Sony units in American cars as well.
Hope you can help as this is driving me nuts!
    Thanks

    Hi Drusus.
I also have a European Ford (Focus ST - 2009) with the same problem.
Have you found any solution to the problem, or know if its possible to contact Ford...?
    Cheers.

  • BMW iPod adapter: Problems after 1.2 update

I have the BMW iPod adapter, my pre Sept 5G 30GB iPod, will skip, if the radio is turned off while listening to the iPod.
Then when you turn the radio back on or start the car, it skips
It will play for a second the silence, then play then silence.
The only way to get it to play correctly again is to turn the radio on and of 3-4 times, or unplug the iPod and plug it back in.
This started after the 1.2 update.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Steve

Hey, Steve - You're not alone. I also have a 5G 30 Gb video iPod (first wave), and it's been skipping in my BMW since it was updated to firmware version 1.2. I only updated to version 1.2 because iTunes 7 wouldn't copy certain podcasts without the update. Glad to see I'm not alone, anyway.
I've found that selecting another playlist, and then going back to the original, stops the skipping. It was working fairly well before the update, although it would occasionally weird out after fast forwarding.
Have you tried a full reset - wiping your iPod out, and then reloading everything? I haven't had time to try that, yet. I suspect there might be some artifact on the iPod that's not compatible with 1.2, and might be corrected after a full reset & reload. Also, I wonder if there's any way to update the BMW's iPod adapter?
What is the best way to report this apparent bug to Apple?
    Thanks,
    Tim
    I have a 1st Gen 5G 30GB iPod. After the 1.2 update,
if I am listening in my car, using the BMW iPod
adapter, and shut the radio off, or turn the car off,
when I turn the radio back on the music skips. It
plays 1 sec, skips 1sec and on and on.
I have to turn the radio off and on 3 or 4 times for
the iPod to start playing the songs again without
    skipping.
Has anyone else had this happen?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Itunes 7.1 ipod playlists - problems synching or manually adding

I was hoping 7.1 would solve these two issues, but it hasn't. Does anyone have advice for either of these problems:
    1. when the ipod is plugged into the computer, Itunes caps the number of playlists that show up in the 'synch only checked items' playlist. This is infuriating, as I have 2000 playlists.
    2. Okay, so you decide to go with manually adding playlists to the ipod icon in the itunes window. Before verision 7, you could actually open that ipod window and drag playlists from your main window into the ipod window. Now, you can only add playlists manually by dragging the playlists up toward the Ipod icon. If you have 2000 playlists like me, it literally takes 30 seconds to drag up to that icon, past all the other playlists. If you decide to try and drag into an opened Ipod window, the music shows up in your ipod, but NOT THE PLAYLIST.
Because of these problems, I don't have any bands on my ipod from the letter P onward. Does anyone have advice about this? Am I doing something wrong?
    G5, single processor   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

i have the same problem guys. i make playlists for everything, not a big fan of the other view options available. i have been getting frustrated lately with the lack of playlist drag and drop and having to scroll up through a couple hundred playlist to get to the **** ipod icon. i have actually created folders for parts of the alphabet so i can simply close them in order to get to the ipod icon a lot faster. stupid work around, but alas it does work. i think apple doesn't want people to use playlists like we do.

  • Song order on ipod playlist problem.

I just got a new Ipod (30G) and I just finished putting 1000+ songs on it, it was hard work but i finally got it. Yet I found out that my ipod is doing to the same things my other one was doing, Instead of sorting the songs in Alphabetical order by Artist in my playlist, it will only sort it by the date added instead.
I put my songs manually instead of syncing and Im not about to reorganize all my songs on Itunes for this problem.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks.
      Windows XP

If you go into iTunes, select the playlist then right click and pick "Copy To Playorder" it will leave the order the way it is. I think it transfers that way to the iPod as well. Not sure how Manually syncing effects that, but you may need to redrag the playlist over to the iPod for it to take effect. Try it on a small playlist first and see if it works.

  • Smart Playlist problems after iTunes upgrade 10.6.1.7

Hi, I updated my version of iTunes to 10.6.1.7 and since then my smart playlists are not syncing to my iPhone properly. The selection of songs is scrambled, and so I have a variety of my top rated, audiobooks and other random songs. I have tried removing and resyncing the smart playlists to my iphone, but this has the same outcome. Also, the sync doesn't complete all stages so I end up with roughly half of my music from my smart playlist on my iPhone.
Not sure if this is an iTunes problem or iPhone problem, but it definitely only started after I upgraded iTunes.
Any others out there with the same issue or any suggestions?

Yepper.. got the same issue.. it is not sync'ing my Itunes play lists to my I pod touch.

  • ITunes/iPod/USB problem after installing AVG 8.0 Antivirus

    Hi,
I have recently installed AVG 8.0 as a replacement to my pevious Antivirus software. I now seem to have some kind of a problem with 'disappearing' USB attached storage.
The first problem I had, was that my Walkman was no longer recognised. I resolved this by uninstalling it in 'Device Manager' and then running 'Add Hardware'. Windows successfully found the new hardware and installed it OK. My big problem is that the same thing is happening to my three iPods (Shuffle, Touch and 30Gb Video). When I connect them, iTunes detects them, opens and then seems to perform the usual software version check OK. However, if I then try to tranfer a track to them, or delete a track, I get the message 'Disk not found'. I have updated iTunes to 8.01, but that hasn't resolved the problem. I have also tried uninstalling the iPods and then letting Windows install them again. This doesn't resolve the issue either. The iPods have the most current software update loaded onto each of them. My Windows XP Home is running SP3 and all of the current Critical Updates. There is no other unexpected behaviour by the PC.
I have searched around and there is talk of some kind of (possible) AVG 8.0 related problem, but I can't find a resolution. Please can anyone help. Thanks in advance.
    Ian

I have exactly the same problem since downloading the upgrade earlier today. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled to try to fix it but all I keep getting after it has nearly completed loading (which takes a frustrating amount of time each time) is a repeat instruction to re-boot in order to complete the configuration and I've had enough of the endless 'loop' that you refer to. It worked fine before the upgrade but I can't go back!

  • Problems After Charger Sparks.

I have a Macbook Pro 2009, and my Apple charger broke around 8 months ago. I purchased a cheaper one from Lavolta, it died but when i went to purchase an official Apple one, i saw the reviews on the Apple website and was put off. It seemed the cheap ones had as many problems as the official ones, so i purchased another Lavolta charger thinking 8 months isn't too bad for £30.
However, after a week it suddenly produced a spark when i inserted it into my Macbook Pro. The charger stopped working and i inserted my brother's charger into my macbook which powers it but does not charge it. His charger is an official Apple product and works on his macbook. I also swapped batteries but both times, the batteries did not charge.
I reset both my PRAM and SMC, but nothing has solved the problem so far. I'm out of Applecare warranty but would like to solve this. Have you got any ideas?

You'll need to take the system to Apple to have it diagnosed properly. Something got fried.

  • 4G IPOD lockup problems after update

So I updated my IPOD last night to the 2005-11-17 release. Ever since then, when it sits for long enough for the screen to go blank, it shuts off completely and will only respond by holding the select button and the menu button.
I tried to reinstall the update but when I connect my IPOD and run the program, there is no option. It just says already updated.
Is there any way to reinstall the software without dumping my 40gig worth of music on it? I backed up and removed all of the music and it would be a huge pain to have to redo everything.
Is this a common issue and do you think a total wipe would solve the problem or is there another way?

I also should add, just to be clear, that I can pause a song and after around 5 minutes my IPOD is powered off and will not restart without holding select and menu.

  • Smart Playlist-problem after  maintenance

I ran a maintenance utility on my PB , after that; one of my smart playlists on my itunes would not open causing itunes to shut down.
I deleted the Splaylist and created a new one.
While creating the rule :[ MY RATING IS GREATER THAN] [* ] the star field would not accept 3 stars. Would click Only 1,2,4,or 5 stars . !!!! Isnt that strange.?
    How do I fix it.?

This problem is discussed a couple of times and there's also an article with a workaround (problem will probably be fixed in a future update).

  • IPod sync problems after hard-drive upgrade/change

    Hello all,
    Can anyone PLEASE help?
I have just had my hard drive upgraded/changed from the original 640GB drive to a new 2TB drive. I've also had an additional 4GB of RAM added to now give me 8GB RAM.
Absolutely everything else seems to be working fine (unusual for me and I'm often at the end of bad luck in such circumstances). The only thing I'm having problems with is syncing my iPod Classic with iTunes. Incidentally, I have the latest version of iTunes and my iPod software was up to date  the last time I checked.
Before I go further, my system specs are:
    iMac
    24-inch, Early 2009
Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
    Software  OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (12C60)
When  I connect my iPod Classic, the iPod screen initially shows  'Synchronisation in progress' (or whetver similar wording it actually  is)... but this is just very briefly. It then indicates "Connected", and  that's the way it stays and doesn't change at all.
It takes time to actually show up in iTunes, and when it does, I now have to very quickly click the iPod button (to bring up the iPod screen on iTunes) before the pointer turns into the spinning beach ball.
Now, it hangs... and hangs... and hangs... and hangs.
During this, I notice that "Manually manage music and videos" is ticked (which I didn't have ticked before), and also 'Enable disc use' is also ticked, although greyed out.
Occasionally, the spinning beach ball will disappear and the pointer will return, but this is very very briefly and I have a split-second to try unticking - first - the "Manually manage music and videos" box and then - later, if I'm lucky - untick the 'Enable disc use' box. However, on the odd occasion I've managed this, I haven't been able to go further except for two occasions when I managed to click "Apply". The iPoid on those to occasions started to update... but went nowhere... it just did nothing.
When the thing finally just hangs and hangs, I eventually have to 'force quit' iTunes and unplug the iPod without first ejecting. There was one other occasion when I managed to - split-second when the spinning beach ball disappeared - to click "eject" and the iPod succesfully did so.
There were a couple of occasions in the past when I had trouble with my iPhone and was told to delete/trash the iPhone photo cache folder. Remembering this, I tried this for the iPod (iPod photo cache) and it made no difference... same situation.
I did notice on one occasion at the beginning of all this that when I managed to unplug my iPod from iTunes, all the album covers were missing from the iPod (although still in iTunes). This was long before I tried deleting the iPod photo cache folder though.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards
    BionicDan

First things first the spinning beach ball is usually an indication that Search is going nuts.
Turn off Search entire Library by clicking on the downward pointing arrow to the right of the Magnisying glass and untick Search entire library.
Is your music still in iTunes on your new hard drive or is it only on your ipod?
If it is in your itunes then you should be able to plug in the iPod and uncheck Manually Manage music and sync
If the music is only on the ipod connect up as above click on the device and Drag all the music from your device to the library. then you can uncheck manually manage music and sync as normal

  • Playlist problem after updating to

    Hi everybody!
I updated my Zen Micro to 2.20.05 (Plays for sure) and it works well, but I've also got some problems:
) I can't create any playlists anymore on my computer. I'm using Creative Mediasource Organiser and I've updated it so its compatible to PFS devices. Transferring music works well. (The program just puts the music in the My music folder)
When I try to transfer a playlist, it starts making folders in the my music folder (they are named with the artists name) and putting the music in that folders. The problem is that it takes double space on my disk.
    2) My player is starting up very slow. Before installing the new firmware the player started up immediately with the zen micro splash screen (that kind of raindrop falling in the water) and starts playing. Since the update the player almost everytime starts up with te creative logo and takes ~20 seconds to start playing. Before the update I only had that screen if I hadn't used my player for ~2 days.
Does someone know a solution to my problem?
    Thanx in advance
(BTW: I hope you understand my english.. I'm not very good at it )
    Maardiweb

The scanning part is something that all programs which I have used does. It will read your entire player and scan each song for all its information, song title, artist, album etc... It will read this data into the program. I've seen this taken place in an MTP Monitor program which you can download from Microsoft's website. Its just how the programs do this. Windows Media Player and Windows Explorer are the fastest to read the player as it reads it differently than how Real Player or Musicmatch does. But still all programs read the entire player first then displays your songs. This process is done 'fairly' quickly however as you said it does take awhile on the larger 60gb players.....
I suppose this can be something which will be improved as time goes.

  • Playlist problem after latest update.

I have audio books in a playlist.  When it gets to the end of a part, instead of going to the next chapter it starts back where it left off.  How do I get the playlists to work correctly again?

I have recently updated my N97 as well, and right after I couldnt turn the phone on!
had to remove the battery twice.
then when I did turn it on, it said memory full need to delete stuff! That was rubbish because it wasnt full,
but I deleted stuff anyway cos it wouldnt let me use any apps or simply see my background.
But now I have a background, but not 100% of it.
    N97 is disappointing me!
