Ipod playlists not all visible

I manage my music manually and have a mixture of normal and smart playlists on my iPod Touch 2g. I couldn't understand why I can see all my playlists in iTunes on the iPod but not on the iPod itself.
So I got fed up and installed another smart playlist covering the same ground.
The new one also didn't show up but the previously missing one did!
So it looks like when Apple introduced the "Genius Playlist" on the iPod (not enabled on my machines, and which doesn't show on the iPod from iTunes so you can't delete it) they forgot it does show on the iPod itself. I guess they just count the playlists on the iPod and, bad luck, the last one just gets dropped from the display.
Great programming eh?
I do hope version 10 is going to be a complete rewrite, with all this buggy behavour written out of it.
Come on Apple, get it together! If there were an alternative software for managing music on a mac + ipod, we'd all be jumping for it.

In iTunes. right click and Get Info on the items you do not want shuffled.
Click the Options tab.
Check Skip when shuffling.

Your music should be in your iTunes library, that is how it gets synced to the iPod. If that music is not present in the iTunes library, you will need to get a 3rd party software for the computer to get the music off the original iPod and then move it to the iTunes library to be able to sync it to the new iPod. I know there were previous threads but nothing does anything for me. Also i have some other details.
I WOULD LIKE TO ADD:
I used this same install disk to install several computers including this laptop WITHOUT any problems. The same install disk 2 days later is installing over and over with the folders visible, and not all the other hidden items. l have not really checked the filesystem to see if its all folders or not.
My concerns:
Is there a chance this is security related and i have some kind of "swapped" install disk that could have any form of malware built into it? It is troubling to me that the same disk is producing different results days apart. I also don't like the apparently rare nature of this problem nor that it is not fixable using any methods i have found so far. Honestly, I don't want to fix it. I want it not to happen on install or I am going to have questions about its origins, since I have had no problems prior to this.
Can the installation of Linux (specifically Suse) do something that a Disk Utility wipe would not get rid of such as some kind of open firmware setting (seems impossible to me) or similar vein?
Any help would be appreciated. The fact that it now appears i cannot install without this happening after 75 installs of it not happening is bothering me.

Where did you get the install DVD from? Is it an official Apple Leopard DVD?

Computer and ipod crashed. not all music was backed up. please help!

Ok so both my computer and ipod crashed in the same week. I was able to fix my ipod but had to wipe all the music off of it. I lost all my itunes files on the computer and not all of my music was backed up. I know that's really bad, and I should back up all of my music but I got lazy. Which again is a bad thing! Sorry! But is there anyway to re-download purchases that I made? Someone please help me.

You can change the email address of one's appleID...
I'd recommend changing moms email to yours to get a good backup on the Mac
Then switch mom's back to hers
Then change your account to the same email you used.
I've done something similar when I needed to update my Apple account (one ID changing email addresses and phone)

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
Authorizing a computer does not cause media to magically appear.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

Ipod playlists not showing, yet music remains on ipod

my 160gb ipod classic all of a sudden says no music no playlists no videos etc after a reboot of my imac restarted after installing updates while ipod was left on dock connected to computer. i can see the music on the ipod using ipod access and play the tracks but it shows no playlists, even in that application. how can i get it back to working and showing my playlists and working without having to reformat it to factory settings as a lot of the music i cannot get again i do not have backups of. please help i leave for a 2 week long trip on wed!

i think it might be the itunesdb on my ipod in ipod_control/itunes folder. also when i try to transfer that and a few other files form that folder to my desktop, the sizes dont match up! any advice?

Nike +ipod playlists not playing complete playlist

Is anyone having issues with using the Nike +ipod for specific playlists. I have my favorite playlist for running and it's skipping songs and I can't get to specific songs that I like. The first time I used it it worked and played all the songs...now I play it and it randomly skips songs and I can't go back to get the song. Any insite would be great.

Myabe obvious, but do you have the Shuffle option turned on under the top-level Settings menu?

IPod Playlists not syncing correctly?

I have a 60GB 5th Generation iPod. Up until my last sync, I could choose to randomize my playlists and they would automatically sync that way to my iPod. Now it's not doing it correctly. Everything is exactly the way that I had the last time that I synced my iTunes and iPod.
I've tried restarting it, resetting to factory settings, re-downloading the new iTunes 8 and it's still not working. Is it just a marketing ploy in order for more people to buy the newer iPods or am I just dumb and not doing something right?

I have had the same problem ever since installing iTunes 8. I have several playlists in iTunes that include many artists, some artists with more than 1 song. I have the playlists shuffled in iTunes, but when I sync my iPod, the playlists show up in my iPod with the songs in alphabetical order by artist. The playlists are not shuffled on the iPod, as they are in iTunes.

Standalone ITS 6.20 - wgate install - web instances not all visible

When trying to install an ITS Wgate (dual host), I am not seeing all available IIS instances during the install process. Only 4 of about 10 available are there when I am at the point of designating which IIS site the ITS Wgate instance should use. I haven't seen this before and am trying to understand why some would not appear in that list.

are you talking about Administrator? But what about the IIS administrator? I am not sure if Adminstrator also has fully privileges for the web server.

Iphoto 08. Event photos are not all visible under "photos"

I have a number of photos that are visible when I look for them by event. However, when I switch to photo view they are not there. Any recommendations?

Events and photos are simply different ways of viewing the same iPhoto library
Do you have "event titles" turned on in the photos view so you can verify this?
My guess is that the photos view has event titles turned off and that the photos your are "missing" are simply sorted somewhere different than you expect

Pages not all visible on .Mac

This is not earthshattering, but I wonder what I may have done wrong. My pages used to all show up on the .Mac entry screen (under Pages!) Now 3 of the old pages show up, but two recent blogs have shown up as pages (though I thought they were only new entries) and a few of the pages are gone. Any suggestions as to how I might have these entries so that .Mac thinks they are stand alone pages? Thanks.

It should actually be keeping track of the top 5 pages you have counters on. If you don't have counters, then I'm not sure what it'd do
I used to watch that until sites started disappearing and reappearing. It'll keep a good count of what actually appears, but other than that, you can't any really good consistent information from it. Since it's not earthshattering (it wasn't for me either) you may not want to do anything about it BUT in case you do, you can try putting StatCounter on all your pages. Much more useful and consistent information.

Some (not all) updates to playlist show up on mini

I created a new playlist and a new smart playlist in itunes, that doesn't show up on my ipod... I also deleted the on-the-go playlist, and that still shows up on the ipod, so theres obviously a problem w/ the updating. But I've also added new songs on an existing playlists, and they are showing up on the ipod, so not all updates are being affected. Any ideas? Should I reset?

Yeah, try to reset
Press and hold the MENU and CENTER buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo on your screen, then release those buttons. Try to do this while your iPod is plugged into your computer. Do you have your iPod set to manually or automatically update itself? For example, mine updates automatically..as soon as I plug it in my iPod automatically updates all my new songs without me clicking on anything.

Ipod smart playlist not sorting right.

I'm not sure if this is because of the iOS 7 update but before the update. I was able to sort my music by Date Added and start my music from newer music I would download. After the iOS 7 update my playlist on the ipod sorts by Date Added but starts from older music and I have to scroll all the way down to the new stuff. If this would be address in a new update that would be awesome!

Thanks. I didn't see the drop down menu to pick "unplayed Podcasts" from. It should do the same thing as the Smart Playlist I created. I did get some of the Podcasts in the Smart Playlist uploaded to my iPod, just not all of them. Now that I look at the ones that were uploaded, it appears that the ones that were uploaded were ones that I had downloaded directly from websites and not ones that were downloaded via iTunes Music Store (subscritions). So it appears that iTunes has a way of identifying them as Podcastats other than the Genre. OK it is done now and it still missed some Podcasts that were in the Smart list. It looks like it may have only picked the ones that I have subscribed to via Music Store (makes sense). This is a PAIN. Why not just let us use Smart Playlists for Podcasts?? Why can't we just use podcasts just like any other "track/song"? Just identify them by Genre.
