thanks in advance
Advent T12   Windows XP   ipod video 30GB

i had this problem once, found out it was the earbuds. try out a different pair of headphones/earbuds. if something blows in those evil little fragile earbuds, it's going to play at a poor quality. if not, then try re-uploading the songs

  • IPAD/IPOD playing music to a Airport Express - No Sound?

I have an IPAD and an IPOD.  IPAD is 4th gen, IOS7.  IPOD is 4th gen, IOS6.
Airport express is the new one second generation.  Airport Express is wired to my home network, and its in bridged mode with wireless off.  Its purpose is only to play music via airplay.
When I turn on airplay on my IPAD or IPOD I can always see my Airport Express.  It always allows me to select it as my output speaker.  However, only sometimes does music actually play through my Airport Express / Stereo setup.  The IPAD or IPOD always shows the music playing in its music playing app.  It appears as if its working.  I just cant always hear it.
If Im trying to play music but no sound is coming out of my stereo, I can power off my IPAD or IPOD, then try playing music again and it will work.  This is a work-around to my problem that really bugs me.  I want to properly diagnose this problem so that I do not have to power cycle my iDevice before using airplay.
Ive read many posts about Airport Express sound problems.  Most problems seem to be either short audio drop-outs, or not detecting the Airport Express.  I think my problem is different.
I have read some people had success downgrading their Airport Express firmware to 7.6.1 to fix the short audio drop-outs.  I have not tried this as my problem is not worth audio drop-outs.  Its with no sound at all playing.
I am begginging to think the Airport Express isnt as rock-solid for airplay as I thought.
    QUESTIONS:
Are there any tools available for troubleshooting this type of problem?  The knowledge base articles Ive read from Apple have been no help.

  • IPod plays music through the speaker on the back

    Hi,
My new iPod nano 5th generation seems to play music through the back speaker for the camera and voiceover options. When i plug in my headphones, it will play through those, as well as the speaker, but even when I unplug the headphones, it plays through it still. This is annoying to the people around me to hear. Does anyone know how to fix it, i've gone through the settings on my iPod but I can't seem to figure how to turn it off and only have the music play through my headphones. Anybody have the same problem? How do I fix it?
Thanks so much for your help.

Is the speaker really on the back? I had been trying to figure out where the sound was coming out, and thought I had narrowed it down to the hole where the earplugs plug in. I tend to lay my iPod down on its back, and it doesn't seem to muffle the sound.
Cutie962, I don't know about sound in general through non-iPod earphones, but in order to use the radio, you need the right earphones, because the antenna is in the cord. I can't use the delivered ones, because either I just don't know how to use them or my ears are the wrong shape - they just fall out immediately. I was trying to figure out which ones Apple sells also have the antenna for the radio, but they don't seem to list that information. I kind of like the pink ones that hook over the ear, but it would be a waste if they won't work.

  • Ipod plays music too fast

I just don't understand, it seems that my nano plays the music way too fast. When I play the same music on the i-tunes it sounds fine, but on the ipod, the voices of the singers are really altered. What do I do about this?

I've got the same problem too 2 days ago. Before going to sleep I wanted to listen to some music, but then I realized that my iPod nano 2nd generation was playing the music too fast, no matter which song. I can't really tell what speed it was playing at, but I'd say something between 1.025x to 1.050x. It might not appear that much, but try it with a program such as WMP and you will see a difference. The difference is subtle at first but evident when you the know the songs. So when that happened I was like "W-T-F" and then I restarted the iPod using the Menu+Center combination. I was wishing for it to play OK and then I tried a few songs and it was still going fast forward!!! At that point I was like ?%#!!?#@$$# and I turned it off. The next morning I took it with me to school and everything played fined. I am still mad cause even tough it works right now I have not found the cause nor the solution to that problem and I'm scared it's going to do it again.

  • My iPod plays music i did not download.

I have about 3 songs on my iPod I downloaded about a year ago.  Recently, when I select these songs, other music I did not download plays, even though it shows the original song and album cover.  How can I change this back to the music I originally downloaded?

What songs are they ? If it's the U2 Songs of Innocence album then that was given free to everyone a couple of months ago - you can remove it from your account if you don't want it : http://itunes.com/soi-remove
But the cloud icon means that those songs are in the cloud, not on your phone. You can turn off the showing of all cloud music via Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Music (under the 'show all' heading) 'off'. Or you can hide individual tracks and/or albums via your computer's iTunes so that they don't show in the cloud : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases

  • My ipod plays music at different volumes

one song will play normal and then the next one will ether be louder or much more quiet.

In Settings>Music is Sound Check ON?

  • Wy won't my iPod play music out loud? It plays music with headphones, but when I unplug my headphones and turn up or down my iPod it still says headphones... How can I fix this?

Really need help, would really appreciate it... :)

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • IPod often plays music at faster rate. I need desync & sync Music to fix it

I first found this problem in my former iPod 5G (during more than 3 years!!), but now it also happens in my new 2009 iPod 3G. Now and then, the iPod plays music at a noticeable faster rate (what turns out to be in most situations a rather annoying experience).
I think it's a shame that Apple hasn't been fixed this bug in the iPod for so long and develop a software capable to handle and play music at the correct pace, which is what an iPod is primary meant for (in contrast, I've never had this issue in my Macbook, there the "accelerated" music sounds just fine).
The only fix I've found that seems to work is to desync all music in the iPod and sync it again. The process takes more than an hour. In some occasions I also removed my podcasts and even erase everything in the iPod, but I realized it wasn't actually required. At this moment it would be rather an unsatisfactory solution since I have the iPod loaded with 6-7GB of documents (PDF, PowerPoint, etc.) ant it would take ages to load them again.
I guess it may be related to the creation of audio files stored as Voice Memos. I've been recording audio for the last 3 years. I've found in other discussions that Voice Memos have to be desynced and synced again to solve the error 13019:

I would be very grateful to anyone with an idea of how to prevent this problem from reappearing in the future.

The batterys the ipods come with are very sensetive somtimes they dont react right to the first couple of charges. Try fully charging it and then leaving it on until its completely drained a few times. If that doesnt work it might be a lemon.

  • My iPod shuffle could be seen on iTunes, but it cannot be charged and don't play music. The battery light do not flash at all.

Like what I mentioned, the iPod do not work, it won't play music and the battery light do not flash.
But it shows in iTunes, and I could sync music into it.
I tried to reset all the settings of the iPod, and installed all the new software, but it does not work.
I don't know if it works before, my friend left it to me. I erased all the data she used before and syncronized all my music inside.
But it just never worked in my hand...
I really appreciate all feedbacks! Thanks and please answer this question if you have the similar situation!!

Are you using the USB docking cable that came with the iPod?  There are separate contact points for power and data, so it is possible for the cable to connect for data, but not for power.  Some third-party replacement cables may be of lower quality, if you do not have the original cable
However, it seems to be getting power, since the shuffle is operating when connected and you are able to sync when it is connected.  So I think your USB docking cable is working.
That leaves a problem with the USB port or a problem on the shuffle.
For the USB port, it may not be supplying sufficient power to charge the battery.  As a test, you should shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices, including hub, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  If the Mac is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).  Do this to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Start up the Mac, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Any difference...?
If that does not help, it may be a problem with the shuffle, such as a worn out battery.
