IPod purchasing issue

My daughter has an ipod which is connected to my credit card - she has made purchases without realising how can I block this from happening but ensure she can still download free games or access her game centre?  Thank you

I have this same problem. On my iPhone 4 running 4.3.5, when I download a podcast from inside the itunes app on my phone, it appears to download correctly, but doesn't show up in the list in the ipod app.

  • ITunes 10.1 Upgrade on Windows 7, iPod Service issue

I am upgrading from iTunes 10.0.0.68 (64 bit version) to iTunes 10.1 (64 bit version) on my Windows 7. After some time the popup error message reads,
Service 'iPod Service' (Pod Service) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services
I aborted the installation. Roll back action took place and I am continuing with iTunes
Now when I run iTunes, the message says,
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
I clicked on Yes. Then iTunes application opened with the message "Could not delete service" (the title of the window is 'iPod Service')
How do I fix this problem? I want to upgrade to iTunes 10.1 as I want to upgrade my iPad to iOS 4.2

Now, based on your latest response I did the right-click, install as Administrator. The result unfortunately is the same.
Okay ... let's try a modified version of the instructions from the following document. (The modification is because they aren't precisely accurate for 64-bit systems ... the program files that could potentially be left on your system by the unmodified instructions wouldn't normally be relevant to an iPod Service issue, but you're getting a relatively rare variation on iPod Service trouble. So, just in case ...)
If you get any error messages during any of the uninstalls, deletions or reinstalls, note down what they say and post back with the precise text, please.
    Here's the document:
[Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923]
    ... here's the modification:
When you get to *step 9* of the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section, proceed instead with the following instructions:
    (9) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
Note: If you have a 64-bit version of the Windows OS, continue with step #10. Otherwise, skip to step #17.
    (10) Open the Program Files (x86) folder.
    (11) Right-click the iTunes folder (if it still exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
    (12) Right-click the iPod folder, choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (13) Right-click the QuickTime folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (14) Right-click the Bonjour folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (15) Open the Common Files folder.
    (16) Right-click the Apple folder (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (17) Open Local Disk (C:) located in Computer or whichever hard disk your operating system is installed on.
    (18) Open the Windows folder.
    (19) For 32-bit versions of Windows: Open the System32 folder.
For 64-bit versions of Windows: Open the Syswow64 folder.
    (20) Right-click the QuickTime file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (21) Right-click the QuickTimeVR file (if it exists), choose Delete, and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
    (22) Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
Now restart the PC and try another iTunes reinstall.
Any better luck with that attempt?

  • Mac/iPod back to school rebate offer Proof of purchase issue

I brought a macbook and applied for the iPod rebate the other day.
I'm now stuck with trying to provide evidence as the EAN label on my Macbook box won't come off, and the man at the apple store said that I would need the barcode if I had any trouble with my Mac (as proof of apple care)
I dont want to cut up the box, and i dont want to lose my apple care cover, so what do i do? will they still refund me if i just send the ipod serial?

The others are correct. The terms of the rebate program state that the Mac and the iPod and the Mac and the iPod must have been purchased at the same time and at an Apple Store, physical or online, or an Apple campus reseller. Sorry, but you will not be eligible for either rebate.

  • Ipod sync issues with Windows 7

I just purchased a new computer with the Windows 7 operating softeware and now I cannot sync my Ipod Touch (3rd generation) but I do not experience this issue with my old computer with Windows Vista.  When I need to update my Ipod I have to connect it to my old computer.  Help.  I do not want to pay Apple for support when I see countless post about this issue.

    Diane Wordsmith wrote:
Are you set to manually manage on both computers? If not, an auto sync on one of them will erase the iPod and place that computer's library on it.
No that wouldn't be it. The manual vs. Auto sync setting is stored on the iPod, not on iTunes. So if you take a manually managed iPod and plug it into an iTunes it has never connected to before, the new iTunes will still recognize the iPod as manually managed and not do anything bad to it (in theory).

  • Multiple 160 GB iPod Classic issues

Last August, I purchased a 160GB iPod Classic. For the first several months, it worked just fine. I hooked it up with the audio cable and it would play in my Hyundai Tucson. One day in the Spring, the volume stopped working in the vehicle. I tried other cables and reset the device several times. It started to work again. About a week later, nothing. It wouldn't even have sound when hooked up to headphones.
I took it the Apple store and we tried it out in a vehicle of one of the associates, it worked. Took it home, down again. Had it replaced. Tried it all different wasy, bought a new audio cable for the car, headphones, etc. NOTHING. Had it replaced last Saturday for the second time. Used it everywhere but the car and it worked. Yesterday, I put headphones on and it crash. (Did not try in car yet).
My questions are these: I have a 30GB Classic that has the same library on it. Could there be something wrong with the library? Corrupt? Could the vehicle need a certain something installed? My dealership knows nothing. I've searched online forums for the issue (thinking maybe it was the car). But this one didn't even go in the car and it crashed after a full charged and library sync.
In case it matters, I have a MacBook Pro 13inch using the most updated iTunes and software.
    If anyone can help-Thank you!

Also, I am using my older 30GB iPod classic and it works fine with all outlets, headphones, vehicle, etc.

  • Ipod Equaliser issues

    Hi.
I have owned the 30gig Video Ipod for just on 1 year now and have always had issues with the EQ settings.
No matter what version of the software is running (latest version is loaded both for iTunes and iPod) I cannot use the EQ settings for any music tracks without getting distortion. Leaving EQ off although leaving the songs duller does not give distortion.
Music purchased from iTunes for example - if I select Rock/RnB/Pop the music will distort when using the EQ on the iPod.
I have tried transferring purchased CD's into iTunes at 192kps / 320kps but still when selecting EQ settings on iPod i still get the distortion.
I have now purchased audiophile headphones but the same problems exist. The only setting i seem to get music w/out distortion is Treble booster or OFF.
Is this a known Apple iPod problem? I tried playing a 192kps song on a Lexmar MP3 player, with Rock setting on and the quality via my audiophile headphones was excellent, far superior to the iPod which costs $300+ more...
Is the problem caused by AAC encoding? - I understand the pre-recorded tracks that came with the Lexmar MP3 player are Windows Media Audio (192kps)...
Can someone please confirm if iPods in general cannot use their EQ without distorting the audio or if there are any ways to fixing this annoying problem...why include the EQ if you can't use it!
    Cheers.

I never like to make the EQ adjustment, as I put it to flat most of the time.
I don't think it is an iPod problem,or you can try with other iPod, I believe you will get the same result

  • IPod Mini Issues

    Hello, everyone.
For the past month now, my iPod has been going through major issues, and i'm running out of ideas.
It doesn't appear to be a battery issue, because my iPod is responsive, however, the minute I turn it on, a sad folder icon appears, and it lists the apple support website. I was urged to restore it, but my computer freezes when I plug in the 'pod.
After a few weeks of hunting for a cure, i've found no solution. I've tried booting it in Disk mode, and ran a few tests in Diagnostics. My HDScan failed.
Is there anything I can do? Or am I SOL?
I'd send it in for service, but i'm a month out of warranty. Would it be more worthwhile to purchase a new mp3? I love my mini to death, but i've been told that out-of-warranty repairs will cost me more than a new player.
Let me know what you think. If you have any ideas whatsoever, please let me know.
I'm getting pretty desperate (A CD walkman can only get you so far, nowadays)
    Thanks alot!

  • Songs will not copy to iPod - authorization issue?

My apologies first if this topic has been covered already.
I just bought a shiny new 5Gen iPod and I need to load it up. Problem: any songs/videos I have purchased through the ITMS previously (with old iPod) will not copy to the new iPod.
Is this an authorization issue? How do I correct this? AND if I get the new iPod authorized correctly, does this mean I can no longer transfer stuff onto the old one?
How do any of you with more than one iPod handle this?
    Please and thank you!
    Powerbook G4 Titanium Mac OS X (10.4.2)

There are a few things you can do if this happens. Here are the first steps...
Have you played the songs in iTunes for a few seconds? This will authorize them. Now sync your iPod. Do they play?
If not, make sure everything is up to date on your computer...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
If that doesn't work, in iTunes, go to advanced-->deauthorize computer. Now play the songs in iTunes. It will ask for your account information (from the iTunes Music Store). Enter that. Now play a few purchased songs for a few seconds. Sync your iPod. Do the songs work now?
If they don't, please post back for more suggestions.

  • HELP ME!! ipod battery issues!!!!

    hello everyone,
i have just purchased an ipod, and it has been less than 3 days since i did. the problem is that i only had time for an initial charge of about 2 hours (half the recommended full charge time), as the power to my house cut out. it is a fifth gen 30 gig video ipod, with a lith-ion battery, and this should not be that much of a problem, as these batteries are less affected by a less than required charge time. anyway, i have realised that the battery seems to lose its charge strangeley fast. the max is about 4 hours! im really scared, because i dont want this thing to be spoiled before i even have a chance to use it... PLEASE HELP!!!! i need any advice on how to solve this problem, and i hear this is a common issue so you guys must know about it.
thanking anyone who helps in advance,
    cookieman

I believe you'll have to pay about $30 for shipping
If it's less than 6 months since purchase, there will be no charges.
I doubt they do anything in Pakistan. Fill out the iPod service request link posted and see.
If you have a friend going to the US, they could take it to an Apple store.
If they are going to be here for a few weeks, they could do service request themselves. It usually takes about 2 weeks from the time of request till it comes back.
If you are watching videos, for hours would be about the max time you will get.
If you are only listeneing to music, you should get more than that (14 hours on a 30GB). If you use the backlight, switch songs, amd stop/start all the time, you will get less.

  • Has iPOD battery issue gone away?

Have two iPOD minis. Heard about a battery issue about a year ago, accompanied by a class action suit. Time to get at least another iPOD. Questions:
    1) Was that problem with inferior lithium batteries resolved by Apple? Is it okay to get another iPOD mini? And,
    2) Suggestions on purchasing an iPOD. We use them exclusively for music, nothing else. Would like to go with iPOD mini again, unless I hear otherwise from any of you.
    Thank you

1 - The Mini was not included in the lawsuit. The battery worked as advertised (within reason). Don't think it was (widely) published exactly what the cause/fix was.
2 - The iPod rocks. I recommend it. The Mini (the mot popular iPod ever) was discontinued in October last year. You can still purchase refurbished Minis at www.apple.com/store. They come with a standard one year warranty and you can purchase the Applecare Protection Pln for it as well.

  • Itunes cannot backup Ipod purchases

    Hello All,
I've recently upgraded my son's Ipod to the current gen. Lately, when I plug it into my Mac and it begins the auto sync, it tells me that it cannot backup some of his apps because my computer is not authorized. It gives me instruction on how to authorize my computer but when I do it tells me that my computer is already authorized. Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks

Yes, I understand.  But the fact that you do have to authorize for each individual Apple ID might indicate future issues if you don't religiously separate the tunes, movies, etc. owned by each ID.  Bear in mind (for the future) that the Apple ID that purchased the music, movie, etc. is the one that owns it.  The other Apple ID in use on that computer does not own it, and, in general, cannot therefore play it.  So this suggests a good bookkeeping method is in order if you're going to somehow merge the data in iTunes.
Anyway, I'm glad this solved the issue.  Enjoy your Apple gear!

  • Itunes song purchasing issues

When trying to purchase a song, A pop-up box says there's a billing issue with a previous purchase, and asks for my password. The password is never accepted. It is the same pw I use to login etc.I've tried even changing pw's with no joy. I have an ipod touch gen4 with the original ios. I've tried upgrading the ios in the past, and that just created way too many problems. Anyone else run into this issue when trying to make purchases?
    Thanks

    Stepehn.$,
Since some of your songs play correctly here are some suggestions.
Make sure your iTunes and Quicktime are up to date.
Then deauthorize, and reauthorize your computer for your iTunes Store account.
