Ipod quit working

my ipod started ticking quietly this morning. when I plugged it into the computer initially it stopped. Then later, when unplugged it qit again and there is no sign of life when plugged back into the computer

I plug my ipod into the usb for charging and the computer doesn't recognize it or doesn't find it but all it does is show the apple logo then reset and show the apple logo again, and it doesn't do anything when i pull it out of the usb cord. When i plug it in all it shows is the apple logo and then gets some horizontal white lines and resets and does the same thing over and over again. What do i do?

My 6th generation ipod quit working.  The battery was low, but I plugged it into a charger immediately.  I've tried a car charger, wall outlet and iTunes does not recognize it to charge or reset.  What should I do?

Take the iPod to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.  You are still under warranty.  Take advantage of it!

  • After 2 weeks my ipod quit working, please help.

I’ve had my iPod 30GB for 2 weeks and it has worked perfect until last night when I properly unhooked from the computer (which I do many times a day) and the display showed the apple icon. The first thing I did was to reset it. after four minutes it showed the language screen and after another minute it went to the menu (does this each time I reset it). All my content was gone. Neither itunes or ipod updater recognize it. I put it in “disk mode” same results. It shows as a drive in windows explorer but when I click on it the computer shows “please insert disk into drive” I went though all the steps I could find on the web site and even tried to install it on a computer that has never had itunes on it. Same results. I have a second cable I tried also. The first time I reset the ipod it made a couple of clunking noises that it did not make before or since. Any ideas I hate to have to send it back.

  • Well, my ipod quit working completely.

Well, more or less: the screen freezes the instant I turn on my ipod, and never moves past what it was once I turn it on. The click wheel and buttons are responsive, and if I'm lucky I manage to fumble my way to some music (but not what I want). Resetting the ipod updates the screen to what I was currently on, but then it freezes on THAT screen. I even restored it to factory settings, and it froze on the "select language page." Is it defective? If so, I'm gonna return it and get a Zune 2. I expected better from a company as respected as Apple.

    Sounds like it.

Go for it. After all, the popular and best selling Zune is flawless.

  • IPod Classic 160gb quit working

Hi, I was listening to my ipod classic while working out. I had it on shuffle mode and decided to back out into the menu mode to select an album. As soon as I hit the menu button the ipod quit working and now a red X appears telling me to go to apple support.
I went to the "apple.com/support/ipod" and followed the steps to restore my ipod but none of them have worked. I'm unable manually boot into disk mode on the ipod. Is there something else that i can do before bringing this in to the apple store?

    How old is this iPod?

  • My iPod touch 5 suddenly quit working and it won't charge.

My 5th Generation iPod touch suddenly quit working. I try to charge it and nothing happens.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Why did my camera flash and flashlight quit working on iPod 5 I did a complete restore just to see and still nothing have only had for a week so I can't believe it would be broken already any ideas

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • My previous ipod touch quit working and I lost all the songs I had purchased on it. How can I recover these songs if I can't sync the iPod?

I had a 1st Gen iPod Touch that quit working on me. I had 30-40 songs on it that I had purchased from the iTunes App that I didn't sync back to my computer. How do I recover those lost songs so I can put them on my new iPod?

You buy one and only one download.  It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception, but they are under no obligation to allow.

  • The computer i got most of my songs on quit working, so i decided to start buying the songs straight off of my ipod. if i were to get a new ipod would there be a way to transfer all of those songs?

the computer i got most of my songs on quit working, so i decided to start buying the songs straight off of my ipod. if i were to get a new ipod would there be a way to transfer all of those songs?

If you are in the USA youu can redownload music via iThe iCloud beta now.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519After iOS5 and iCloud goes to all then you can edownload from iCloud.
If not in the USA today, you have to transfer your iTunes purchases to a computer  and then sync your new iPod to that computer. To transfer:

  • External speakers (Bose) quit working suddenly. The speakers work with an iPod but no longer on the iMac

These speakers have worked forever! Now they suddenly quit working. Plugged them into my iPod and they work fine. Headphones likewise don't work on the iMac. Seems to be a problem with the port and not the speaker system. Internal speakers work ok, but are far inferior to the Bose system. Are there some diagonstics I can run on this particular port? Shouldn't be a software problem (I'm running Lion10.7.5)

This solved my problem: in HARDWARE - Sound Preferences, I selected OUTPUT. I highlighted Headphone Port, (It was not originally highlighted), and then performed a complete shutdown (not restart). Re-booted, launched iTunes and the Bose speakers were working, as were the headphones.
This may not work for everyone, but it worked for me. Good Luck!

  • HT3798 160 Gig Ipod classic quit working and makes a noise when i try to reset it

has anyone seen this error, ipod classic makes a grinding noise and a red warning cicle appears.  how do i restore my ipod to work properly?

Unfortunately, if the "grinding noise" is coming from the iPod itself (not over the headphones), the iPod's hard drive has probably become faulty.  You can try doing a Restore using iTunes
Restoring iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
but if it does not get passed that "red warning circle," the iPod will not appear in iTunes.  You can try putting the iPod into Disk Mode
Putting iPod into Disk Mode - Apple Support
If it goes into Disk Mode, try connecting it to the computer and running iTunes.

  • USB hubs quit working with 10.7.2

I have a Mac Pro, dual quad-core 2.8GHz Xeon, 10GB ram. Three D-link DUB-H7 usb hubs. After the update to 10.7.2 and iTunes 5.0.1 (not sure exaclty when), my usb devices & hubs quit working properly. For a while they would work occasionally.
I have a USB keyboard which works if it's plugged in directly when the computer boots. But other devices (external drives, flash card reader, iPod dock, USB display) don't work at all. I tested the hubs with another Lion system, and they work on that. iTunes wireless sync quit as well.
I've tried resetting PRAM and SMC. Neither fixed the problem. Tried repairing permissions. No change. Rebooting (many times).
Could it be a USB driver conflict? I removed VirtualBox usb drivers, as well as Parallels, but not vmware, which I also own.
When I plug in a device, I get 'trouble enumerating' and then "The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device." in the system.log
Any ideas? Is my motherboard dying? If so, why does the keyboard still work, and nothing else?

Followup info. I reset the PRAM and booted into 10.5.1, on another drive.
This time, similar behavior; HID devices (keyboard, mouse, bluetooth) work fine. Hubs (which work fine on another Lion computer!) generate a bunch of console errors:
