Hi folks, this is my first issue with my iPod since I got it, I have a 20 Gig iPod. Recently it has started to stop randomly during songs, pausing for no good reason. I've been looking for how to troubleshoot this issue, but I'm hoping someone can help me.

that happened to me also, with the 20g. i was getting ready to call about it when it stopped happening. no idea why...

  • IPod Randomly Stops Playing Songs

Hi, Some songs on my iPod Touch running version 3.1.2, (mostly songs that I downloaded a long time ago) stop playing abruptly about 30 seconds before the song is over. The iPod says that the song is playing, but no audio is coming out. It is very annoying, and I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem or had found a solution. Thank you for helping me.
P.S. The songs play fine on my 4th generation iPod, (A.K.A. the "iPod Click Wheel") so I know the files are not corrupt.

No, I don't. Even if I did, that would not explain why no audio comes out of the speakers / headphones.

  • IPod randomly stops uploading songs

I have just restored my iPod (iTunes asked me to) and I have made sure all the options are correct, but for some reason, my iPod stops uploading songs (and is very hot). Sometimes it stops at 34, 72, 110, etc. I also have the most recent iTunes and iPod Software Updater. I don't know whether it's a solvable problem or my iPod is completely broken. Any help would be great.

Yes!!! Me too--Got the folder w/exclamation pt, Restored iPod (a second time after this problem occurred, just to make sure I did it right the 1st time), try to download songs and it'll only do about 5-7 at a time (I don't have as many as a lot of people, but 1200 songs 5 at a time HURTS)! HELP!!! (sorry. very frustrated--this has lasted a week!)

  • Random pauses during songs.

I've had my nano since november 2005, about a month ago while I was listening to it my ipod suddenly paused for no reason(I dont recall jerking on the headphone wire or jack at all).
Ever since then the ipod keeps randomly pausing during songs, the odd thing is it doesn't only do it when I wiggle the headphone jack, it does it sometimes even when its sitting flat on my sofa without anything at all touching it and alot of slack in the headphone wire. Also the ipod does it even when the hold button is on as well so it isnt the play/pause button.
I tried sending it to apple but under the reasons for replacing the nano there was no option for damaged headphone jacks so I chose "damaged dock port" since it is very close to the headphone jack, and I also wrote in the description that the headphone jack is broken. Apple sent back the same nano saying they couldn't find any problem with it so I'm out of ideas.
Oh and yes I've tried resetting it and everything.

hmm another question, when i try to open another service request to send my ipod in again, it says it cant because my ipod already has a service request open, even though ive already gotten my ipod back since last week when i sent it in...any idea how long it will take till i can send it in again?

  • Why does my ipod touch stop playing songs when i click to play, it plays for a few seconds sometimes longer and then goes onto the next song. Help!

Please help,my ipod touch stops playing songs sometimes a few seconds in and then other times halfway. It cant be the song because different songs do it each time. Ive tried to restore it and it makes no difference :(
Please help as this problem gets very annoying. Thanks!

Did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod and sync stuff to your iPod?  If you restore from backup there may be some corruption that is now in the backup.

  • How do I get iPod to stop between songs?

How do I get iPod to stop between songs? A simple thing. I want to play a selection, then have the iPod stop, then select another song, have my iPod play it and stop, and so forth. What am I missing?

You aren't missing anything. Under normal playback conditions it isn't possible to do what you want.
The only way would be to put individual songs or selections of songs into playlists.

  • Ipod has stopped putting songs into the recently played list, Any ideas Y?

My ipod has stopped counting songs and also now wont put any songs into the recently played playlist and its really annoying- Any ideas on how i can sort this out? I've reset the ipod which has done nothing and i have also updated itunes but again to no avail- Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I am also having this (or a similar) problem. For years I had an Auto Playlist of Podcasts with "Play Count is Zero"/Live updating rules so they were removed each time I synced my iPod after I listened to them. Recently, the Playlist has stopped updating. That is, the podcasts stay in the playlist because the play counts never update. They show in the podcast library with 0 plays no matter how many times I play them on my iPod.
I also noticed that none of songs I play have their playcounts updated in the Library after I play them on my iPod. All the syncing seems to be going one way (from the PC to the iPod and not the other way around). I picked a song with a playcount of 1 and it over and over just to test it out and no dice/no update.
Any clues? Is there a setting I am missing? I tried resetting the iPod.... And the iPod played tunes/casts are also not appearing in the Recently Played list....

  • Ipod / Itunes Stopping during update or restore.

Whenever I tried to update / sync my ipod it would get a certain distance in and then just freeze. The progress bar would just stop where it was and the ipod says do not disconnect. I would either have to disconnect it or shut down the computer. After a while of trying to get it to update over and over, I decided to try restoring it. It just stops. It says it is still doing something but the progress bar stops. After it stopped during the restore and i had to unplug it, every time i turn it on, it tells me it needs to be restored, but the same thing happens
    I'm using a 5G 30gb ipod with a macbook pro
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Rob

first of all make sure that the battery is completely charged
toggle the hold switch for atleast 6 times.
try plugging the shuffle in different usb port
go ahead open up >>My Computer >>Control Panel >>Add/Remove Programs >> delete all previous updaters even ipod for windows
download the latest updater 2006-06-28 from apple.com
then restore it or update it.............don't worry u won't loose your songs they are safe in itunes

  • IPod randomly stops playing?

Sometimes, if I am listening to music while using Safari for example, the iPod will stop playing at random and sometimes stops playing and brings me to the menu screen at random.

I have this issue with mobile Safari too. It tends to happen to me while playing a large track, for example a 4 or 5 hour MP3 of a speech, rather than typical ~4 minute songs.
A workaround for me is to pause my Safari activities every 10 minutes or so to bring up the "now playing" iPod screen for about 20 seconds, then back to Safari for another 10 minutes. This method is annoying but ensures uninterrupted iPod playback while multitasking.

  • 80GB iPod Classic stops adding songs at 2599.

I can't add any more songs to my ipod- it stops at 2500-3000 songs and I haven't even used 1/4th of the disk. I thought it might have been my computer, so I tried it on another but to no avail. Anyone heard of this problem?

Can't help you, I'm afraid, just want to let you know I have exactly the same problem with my 160gb, and I've now synched my ipod 7 times now trying different things each time. Nothing works. And each time it takes about 2 hours beofre the synch stops (around a third capacity) and freezes iTunes and Windows. It has never stopped on the same song, so that can't be the problem.
On a few occasions I have noticed something peculiar. When synching stops it shows around 36gb "Audio" and 200mb "Other" synched. However, when I reconnect it it shows that around 1.2gb Audio and 35gb "Other" had been synched!
Why does that happen and what "Other" takes up 35 gb? I only use my iPod for music, nothing else. Cd artwork would not use anywhere near that much.
This is the message I posted a while back. No-one answered.
My iPod 160gb partially synched (around 30%)then iTunes froze. On 2nd attempt after downloading latest version of iTunes, restoring iPod and getting Windows updates it synched around 40% then a window appeared where it stated that a certain track could not be synched. I clicked OK and I was told my synch was complete, but of course it wasn't. On connecting again the iPod itself stated it was synchronising, and then almost immediately it stated it was ejecting. This time it was at no time recognised by iTunes or my computer. I tried again with various USB ports and got the same result.
This is the first time I've synched in at least 6 months. I have never had a problem like this before. I've read that quite a few have experienced freezing issues recently, but didn't see any with the same partial synch thing. Any ideas anyone?

When you try to power off with the top button, do you get the "Slide to Power Off" bar? And do you slide it? If it powers back on immediately after doing that, since you have already done a reset, then restore is the next step. You can restore from a backup, or if that doesn't fix it, restore as a new device. Remember restoring as a new device will delete all content from the phone, so make sure you have synced everything. • Ipod mini stops playing songs when it hasnt been updated

after a little while off the charger my ipod mini will not play my purchased songs. is there something wrong with it? do i need to get it fixed?

hey yea my ipod mini does the same thing i dont kno
    what to do either!
    Did you see my post?
    Also, try these...
Have you played the songs in iTunes for a few seconds? This will authorize them. Now sync your iPod. Do they play?
If not, make sure everything is up to date on your computer...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
If that doesn't work, in iTunes, go to advanced-->deauthorize computer. Now play the songs in iTunes. It will ask for your account information (from the iTunes Music Store). Enter that. Now play a few purchased songs for a few seconds. Sync your iPod. Do the songs work now?
    If they still won't work...
Deauthorize the computer. (Go to advanced-->deauthorize computer in iTunes)
Create a new user in the system. (Start-->control panel-->user accounts-->create a new account)
Download the free song of the week in the new user account. (First, log out of the current user and log in to the new user account. Then open iTunes and download the free song)
Play the song in that username to authorize it.
Restore the iPod in the New User account, sync just the Free song of the Week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it plays fine on the iPod when syncing with this user name (after you followed the above instructions), it would indicate a bad iTunes Library File. Post back for instructions on how to fix that.
Now, if it still won't work (you followed the above instructions with the new user account) and the iPod still won't play the songs, then post back.

  • Ipod shuffle stop during loading songs

It is quietly disappointing that i already tried numerous pcs with windows xp os,but synching ipod to itunes is definitely a sacrifice,i almost spent 1 month in finding solutions regarding this problem,i already tried several forums on the net,i already updated, restored my ipod shuffle to 1.1 and installed the latest i-tunes.I know i did everything they told me to do so,the biggest problem is when transfering songs to my ipod,at first the ipod detected by itunes but when you (autofill songs},drag and drop}loading stops in the middle of transfering songs and suprisingly 3 songs only transfered from my 100songs and the ipod came undetected,so you need to re plugged the ipod again and load 3 songs again. I already did this many times, please advice the best thing to do coz i think re plugging ipod to usb will lessen my battery life

you can try exchanging your Shuffle if you think it has a hardware problem:
    http://depot.info.apple.com/ipodshuffle
It sounds like a conflict with other software, possibly a driver or a network conflict. Check the driver letter assigned to the Shuffle and make sure it is not conflicting with network drive letters.

  • IPod randomly stops syncing using iTunes

My iPod touch is a 16gb version. For some reason, i have to keep syncing it over and over and over again (2000+ songs) to get it to sync them all. Sometimes it will go for a gb of music and then it will randomly just stop syncing. Sometimes alot less like 2-300mb of syncing. I cant figure out what's causing this.. The first time i synced all my music to it was last night and it didnt stop syncing once. Today for some reason i made lots of changes to my music, so to do a clean sync i reinstalled all the firmware and software for the ipod through itunes, and then i started syncing it again and now for some reason it keeps stopping after a couple hundred songs.. Keep in mind i tried to re-sync everything before i re-installed the software too and it was doing the same thing, the re-install of the software was to see if it would fix the problem. I looked around but not deeply for an anwser to my problem but could not find one. If you have any idea whats causing this can you please let me know?
My computer specs are as follows ( all less than 2 months old )

    Thanks alot.

I have upgraded to 2.0.1 and the latest itunes as of today and still have the exact same issue. I have even tried the following with no luck :
    1. Restart the ipod after this occurs and then sync again.
    2. Deleted my entire list of Music and Videos from itunes and reloaded them back.
    3. Formatted and Reinstalled Windows and tried syncing again.
Thanks to this issue, i dont even have a single song or Video on my ipod....
    Can someone please Help.
