Ipod randomly locking up to an unknown lockup screen?

So, my iPod locked up randomly to some unknown screen and idk what to do about it? Any Help? Or suggestions? Thanks.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

IPod randomly locking up

I have a 20gb 4th gen iPod with click wheel. Recently it has started to randomly lock up. When is does I do a reset (hold menu and select) and it comes back to life. Sometimes it will work for hours after a reset, other times it may only play a couple of songs and then lock up again.
Any thoughts on this or is this a sign of worse things to come?

MY ipod randomly locks up

ill be doing things on my ipod and sometimes when i touch the screen the ipod will shut off and i cant get it to turn on until i plug it in my computer.
i got this ipod for Christmas last year, so i havnt even had it for a year yet.
ive tried reseting the settings and restoring the whole ipod, but nothing has helped.
What do i do?..it happens basically everytime i turn it on.

Have you tried restoring the iPod via itunes on your computer? First restore from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

IPod Touch locking up on Music and Video screen

I have an 8GB iPod Touch (version 1.1.4) that recently will not display songs or video items stored on the iTouch. iTunes (7.6.1.9) shows that the iTouch has music libraries installed and currently using 1.4GB for Audio files but everytime I press the "Music" button on the iPod the music list window displays as a White background and effectively locks up the iPod until I restart the Power.
I have Reset the iTouch, I have Re-Synced the music lists and neither helped.
Any ideas?

I had the same trouble with the ipod freezing up, then restarting on its own, then all my music was gone and none of the apps would run. I am currently syncing the ipod touch back with the pc to restore the music. I removed the app I was using when this happened (FlyTunes).
I have the 2.0.1 firmware installed and will let you know what happens.

Do a hard reset, put it in DFU Mode and do a manual install, as outlined in the link below.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

My ipod is showing an "activation required" message on my home screen and the slider to unlock it is not working. I've had it for 2 years and had no problems and then it randomly locked up on me and won't let me do a reset. Any way to fix this?

I haven't been able to use my ipod for a month because its stuck on a screen that says "Activation Required" and the slider to unlock it is unresponsive. I've drained the battery and recharged it, I've tried resetting it. next thing i would think of is to ask bestbuy apple retailer or bestbuy pple to help u out from here bc im not sure what to do next if u cant get it into dfu mode.
all i can think of is to hold home and power for 30 seconds in the meantime of showing the apple sign at least once or twice.
either that, home and power flashes once and 1/2 sec later release power while holding home still and plug it in wihout trying to let go the home button. dont even let go until itunes says somthing remotly saying anything ...lol

Random Lock ups

I'm using K9N2-SLI plat with Bios 3.5, AMD64 X2 6400+ Black Ed., 4GB ram (2x2GB Cas 4-4-4-12 T2 matched set), XFX 8800GTS(92) 512, Corsair TX650, Artic Cooler Freezer64 CPU H/S running Vista64 Home Premium Sp2. I'm having random lock-ups during 3D games. Sometimes it locks up after 30 mins in game or sometimes it locks up after days of playing, I can't get it to reproduce the lock up at will. I have read alot of post about this motherboard and it seems it comes down to power supply. I had a New Apevia Beast 2 rail system but after reading the posts I returned it for new Corsair TX650. At full load CPU cores never go above 47c and Idles around 30-31. Ran mem test over night with no errors. Did notice in Mem Test it stated Ram was set at Cas 4-5-5-18 T2. I went to BIOS and set the mem for Volt 2.0 Cas 4-4-4-12 T2. This did reduce the lock-ups to the point I thought I had it fixed. Than today I locked up twice. When it locks up computer becomes unresponsive last sound repeats for few seconds and the only way to resume is to press restart button. I have tried with Cool n'quite on and off, DOT is never been on. Computer runs fine in 2d operations. It's only when I go into 3d games. Video Card has been tested in other machine and is working fine. My game sometime requires me to stay logged in over night to Sell goods. Every morning this last week computer has froze sometime during the night. Crysis plays fine for hours, It seems it happens in not so demanding games, Aion, Knight Online and Wow. All power plugs are plugged, fresh install of Vista, Newest drivers from web site, Bios update via the Forum USB key app. Would really like a reliable computer. What am I missing? Let me know if you need any other info.

OK I ran single stick and it locked up quicker. I went to BIOS used optimized defaults with only changing the volts to 2.0. and it locked up again. It's lockups seem longer if I change mem setting to 4-4-4-12 T2. I used CPU Z and noticed few things.

since I was using EPP profile 1 I noticed that motherboard is running my memory at 4-4-4-12-24(EPP profile shows should be 22)-2T. Should I change to match memory? or should I try JEDEC #3 @ 400MHZ

Help... daughters ipod is locked

My daughter locked her iPod.she forgot the passcode for the screen got to the point to where it said iPod disabled connect to itunes I did that. got that screen unlocked but still don't know the passcode to unlock it .put it in recovery mode to try to wipe it and reset it to factory settings but now getting the message iPod could not be restored an unknown error occurred 3194 .what do I do now?

What happened is that it randomly locked my iPod Nano, I formatted it and now I can't put anything on it anymore, look at the picture please and tell me how I can fix my problem.

That happens when your iPod is set to automatically update all songs and playlists or selected playlists.
When iPods are set to manually manage songs and playlists, that lock goes away and you can drag the songs you want onto your iPod.
To do that, connect your iPod to the computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab, and then the Music tab under that. Click the bubble next to manually manage songs and playlists and click OK.

Ipod Randomly Pausing Songs

hi all,
Just before i went on holiday i bought the isound 2.1 sound dock system, and also updated my ipod touch to 1.1.5 update
Since then, my ipod randomly pauses songs, regardless of the screen being on / off, the lock feature being on / off, using the dock speakers, 3.5 jack speakers, or earphones
im really hoping its down to a firmware issue but i have no idea.
Any suggestions?

The iPod will pause if you pull the earbud jack out - this is a feature. Unfortunately sometimes a set of earbuds will have a jack this is just a bit loose and this will fool the iPod into pausing. Try using a different pair of buds. If the problem continues with a different set of earbuds, give Apple a call.

Computer randomly locks up just recently.....

My specs:
E8400 @ 4.0ghz
P45 Neo2
9800GT
corsair 520hx
4gb g.skill trident ddr2 1066 low volts 1.8 (5-5-5-15 1.8v this is the actual spec of the module)
Well I know my overclock is stable because I have stressed it an I'm running this setting for 2 months now. But recently it started to randomly lock up, there is no pattern. it can happen within 2 hours or 2 days. I've reintalled my machine 2 times and still it happens. I've updated the bios but I doubt it was cause by that. I can't diagnose it because there is no bsod just the screen locking up the only way is to hard reset. Problem is I can't find anything in the event viewer, It just said that the shutdown was unexpected or something...Can someone help me diagnose this? Or is there a more recent bios that I can try? IPod Freezes/Locks up on certain songs/albums --Hard Drive scratched?????

I have a 30 gb ipod video. The problemS are that it will not finish what it starts. If I play a movie it will work fine for a bit and all of a sudden it will freeze. The video will lock and it will make a screeching noise similar to old dial up internet. Some videos that have played before, when selected now will not play at all. I'll either get a black screen or black screen and then it switches back to the menu. As for music (which is what I would like to use it for) it will also randomly freeze. Certain songs/albums won't play at all. Others will play and then randomly lock up. Some will play and lock up at the same point every time. Some play the entire album without skipping a beat. I'm wondering whats wrong. It's very frustrating listen to this at work and starting to get into an album or song and the NOTHING. It freezez. I can feel little clicks in the hard drive like it's searching or trying to catch up but it never does. I can have a fully charged battery and once this happens it drops to halfway. Sorry about the rammbling-I didn't want to leave anything out. Thanks

I've tried resetting and restarting (whichever one holding menu and the center is) a lot because of the locking up. It will play a song and completely stop-the hard drive will be spinning like it's trying to read and will significantly drain the battery. I can sometimes get it to pause so I can get back to the menu, but there is some serious lag when trying to do anything in this state. Usually the only way to solve this is to "Menu/Center" it. When the movies screech like I mentioned above, I can pause and get timebar to show up and if I fast forward a bit it usually will work again. The songs are a lot less predictable and cooperative. How would I reformat in Disk Utility like you mentioned?

How can you get your music synced from iTunes to your iPod when a window pop ups on the screen saying"The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019))?

I had 429 songs already on my iPod Touch. When I was in the process of syncing a song from my iTunes Library on to my iPod, a window popped up on the screen saying, ""The iPod "Edward's iPod" cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (13019)). I click "Device" on my iTunes Library to make sure the song was in my iPod. It showed the song that was recently synced now listed under "Device", but when I physically looked for the song on my iPod Touch, it does not appear on there at all. It all started when I decided to put a Playlist I created in the iTunes Library and transferred it on to my iPod. Do you know why it may affected my syncing process and is there any way where I could get the syncing function back to normal so that I can continue adding songs on my iPod? Thank you for listening. P.S. My iPod iOS version is 4.3.5.

Suggestions?

- After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod? If yes, restore the iPod from backup.
- If no, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
