Ipod rapidly cycles through all songs in a playlist

It's actually my iPhone4 .. but recently after turning on Match, I go to a playlist, play a song and it cycles through all of the songs.  It will eventually stop on a song but it goes through the songs in Music rapidly.
Did I mess up my settings in for Match/iCloud?
Tx :-) Jen

I agree that it seems crazy that this can't be done on an iPhone.
Here is the best work around I have found so far.
(It's much quicker and easier to do than to describe.)
In outline, you make an elementary Automator patch
that uses your playlist folder to create a hard coded playlist on iTunes
then just sync across to your iPhone.
1/ Run Automator on your Mac.
2/ In the Automator library select 'Music'.
3/ Under Actions for 'Music' select "Get specified iTunes items" and drag this into the workflow area.
4/ Using the  "Get specified iTunes items" widget  in the workflow area, press the "add" button.
5/ This allows you to choose from a menu that will include your playlist folder.
6/ Now under Actions for Music select "Add songs to playlist" and drag this into the workflow area
so that the results of the first widget will feed into it.
7/ In the  "Add songs to playlist" widget choose "New playlist". Then enter any name for your new playlist.
8/ Run the patch (takes a fraction of a second).
9/ Sync generated playlist to iphone.
Job done.

  • Ipod nano cycles through song titles in playlist:

    Gateway   Windows XP
When I try to play any song in the "purchased" or "newly added" playlists on my wife's nano pod it cycles through all of the song titles. I cannot get it to play any of the songs I select. It just continues to cycle through all of the titles. I know this is a malfunction because my 30gig Ipod does not function like this. I can select and play any song in any playlist. I'm thinking perhaps there is a setting I need to change.

It doesn't sound like a settings issue to me.
Try resetting the iPod by toggling Hold on and off, then holding Menu adn Select for 6-10 seconds until Apple logo shows up.
If that doesn't work, make sure it has the most up-to-date software (version 1.1.1 released 3-23).
If the problem continues, try restoring the iPod through the iPod Updater. This will wipe the iPod's memory clean, so you'll have to re-put the songs onto the iPod through iTunes.
    I hope this helps!

  • Ipod stopping halfway through a song and restarting

my 1st gen. ipod stops halfway through a song and restarts. but it doesn't do this with all songs, just some. i updated the songs from my ipod onto it again, then manually ejected it, but nothing is working..
    HELP!!

Try reseting it by holding both Menu and Center buttons down untill the Apple Logo pops up(you my have to do this a couple times for it to work). Or you can restore its factory settings and put the songs back on the iPod. But if that doesen't work try calling this number Apple Disability Solutions (800) 767-2775 and see if you can get yourself further help.

  • AP 1142 Rapidly cycling through blue, green, and red

    Hello
After the upgrade of the WLC 5508 to version 7.4 the 1142 access-points LED blinking rapidly cycling through blue, green, and red. I found the followinung information to this behavior: "Access point location command invoked"
The configuration didn't change. What exactly means that? How can I switch this function?
    regards
    Pascal

Console into the AP and see what's going on. The output will tell you what is happening. If you can't determine the issues from the output, please attach it on this thread. Makes sure you get the whole process from boot up.

  • How do I get my 6th generation Ipod to shuffle AND REPEAT all songs in a playlist?

How do I get my 6th generation Ipod to shuffle AND REPEAT all songs in a playlist (continual playing)?

You could get a cable such as this one.
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1526&sku=35502
It has the dock connector on one end fro connection to the iPod and then two connectors on the other end, one for connecting to the firewire charger you use and the other to connect to the usb port on your computer to sync the iPod. You can sync and charge at the same time.
Alternatively, you could explore the possibility of installing a high speed card to your computer such as this one.
    http://www.coolcomputertoys.com/usbpcihost/
I'm not saying that is the one you need (I know nothing at all about your particular computer), I'm just using this as an example of what I mean.

  • Can't stop playlist from cycling through all entries

I cannot stop a playlist from cycling through all entries

Ovi Suite never worked for me, when it came to playlits. And, Nokia PC Suite 7.1.26.1 (May 2009) was the last version which contained the Nokia Music Manager. With that app, you were able to upload playlists to a Nokia with the operating system Series 40 like yours. Together with the latest USB driver, it might work with your model.
Nevertheless, the playlists of Nokia Series 40 (.m3u) are rather simple text files (the English explanation is at the end).

  • Sync all songs but select playlists

I am now running iTunes 9 and I can't seem to figure out how to do this. In the old version you could select to sync checked songs and then go to the iPod and select which playlists you wanted. Now it's either all songs and playlists or select playlists. Is there a way to do what I want?

Sync all songs but select playlists.
If you sync all, you don't select playlists.
Now it's either all songs and playlists or select playlists.
And that's how it has always been.
Is there a way to do what I want?
It's exactly the same as it was.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Click the Summary tab.
    Tick *Sync only checked items*.
    Click the Music tab.
Select *Sync music* and select *Selected playlists* then tick the playlists you want.
Note that *Sync only checked items* doe snot mnena you cannot sync selected playlists or everything. It simply means if you have items unchecked and they are included in any playlists, they will not sync.

  • IMatch - After downloading all Songs in a playlist it contents less songs then before download. Does anyone have the same problem?

Using iMatch on iMac, iPhone and iPad. When I want to download all songs from a playlist on my iPhone, witch contains e.g. 143 Songs before the download, there are only 96 songs in the playlist after download. The missing songs are not listed anymore, but when I check the same playlist on my iPad (Not downloaded), it tells me, that it contains 143 songs.
Same behaviour with other playlists and even when downloading on iPad and checking on iPhone.
Does anyone has noticed the same behaviour?

The track number issue is covered here:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=8...
Sounds like the  bbthumbs.dat files that get created are causing problems.  You can delete them all and it will work.
Doesn't look like a way to fix this permanetly however (they'll come back next time you sync)

  • My Ipod is switching through all my songs!!

I have a 30GB video Ipod and it just got done charging and i took it out of the usb and when i went to go and listen to it, it starts to scroll through all my songs and not letting me listen to any of the songs!!! Can somone tell me whats goin on? and if so can you help???? please reply i need help!

Did you make sure that you ejected the hardware safely?
They don't like being dismounted before the connection is closed, it can do really significant damage to the iPod and it is cumulative (it builds up and gets worse).
Reset your iPod and place it back in your dock after you have let your battery run out after all of the "turbo-scrolling" (as I like to call it) through your library has finished.
Let the iPod synchronise properly again and make sure it is safe to dismount your iPod from your dock.
This may happen again later if it is slightly damaged, just be patient and let it run down again, repeating the process.
If you are worried about damage, you can always check the disk to make sure that it is not damaged and repair any damage to the sectors.
(bear in mind that reformatting it if you want to will erase your music)

  • IPod skips through all songs and isn't properly recognized in iTunes

I have 30gb iPod video and it skips through all the songs and then goes back to the menu. Occasionally I can get it to stop skipping through and play part of one song. I have reset it several times. Also, when I plug it in to the computer it appears in iTunes as the name of my iPod Nano. I really don't want to lose all the songs on my iPod because it was my sister's iPod and she recently passed away. Most of the songs on here she put on and I don't want to lose those songs... Is there a way I can get the songs off my iPod onto my computer and then restore the iPod? Or is there a good way I can fix the problem?

i'll have a go at this one:
Also, when I plug it in to the computer it appears in iTunes as the name of my iPod Nano.
that can be caused by a Windows drive letter confusion. are the techniques from this document of any help with that?
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • How do I get iTunes to stop cycling through all my songs?? I want to listen to them not watch them fly by without a sound!

I click on a song and iTunes just starts shuffling through all my songs without stop. I can't use it at all! This just started when I got the iPhone 5 so I am imagining it is a software issue but I am current and still have the problem. Are there any fixes out there?

    Do you have iTunes Match?
If so, when does your subscription expire?  There have recently been a fair number of problems with the early adopters of iTunes Match having problems as iTM attempts to auto-renew the subscription.  Fixing this requires actual involvement of an Apple Tech Support person.
What you're describing was exactly the behavior I experienced when Apple mistakenly cut off my iTM account last weekend.

  • 160 GB iPod Won't Sync All Songs From iTunes

I have a 160 GB iPod and barring the normal song-skipping issues everyone seems to have, I've had no problems out of it. That is until a couple of days ago. I would attempt to listen to a song and it would skip to the next one during the middle of it. It would run sluggishly, skip nearly every song, and at times, freeze. So I decided to exercise the restore option. After that, when I tried to sync it to my library, it only synced 330 (out of 14,000 plus)songs, all of them artists starting with A. I've tried rebooting and restoring the iPod to no avail. I even did a system restore for my entire computer. Nothing works; it insists on giving me only a fraction of my music library. Any suggestions?

    *Hard Drive Diagnostics*
Take your iPod and place your right thumb on the centre SELECT button and your left on the top MENU button. Press down both thumbs for about 6 seconds until your iPod reboots. Immediately move your left thumb around to the rewind button |<< on the left and hold this down together with SELECT for a further 6 seconds. Your iPod should now switch into Diagnostic Boot mode. Press MENU for *Manual Test*, then select *IO > HardDrive > HDSMARTData* to reveal your stats. For comparison here are mine for my 2 year old 6th Generation Classic:
    Retracts: 889
    Reallocs: 12
    Pending Sectors: 0
    PowerOn Hours: 2202
    Start/Stops: 894
    Temp: Current 24c
    Temp: Min 10c
    Temp: Max 50c
Take a note of your results. When finished press *SELECT & MENU* for 6 seconds to reset the iPod again.
With modern disc drives sectors are no longer marked bad by a disc scan, if the SMART firmware detects a sector it has trouble accessing it will attempt to invisibly reallocate it to a spare area of the disc.
Note that I've only 12 remapped sectors and none pending. To help explain what the numbers mean here is an extract from the Wikipedia S.M.A.R.T. article:
    *Reallocated Sectors Count*
Count of reallocated sectors. When the hard drive finds a read/write/verification error, it marks this sector as "reallocated" and transfers data to a special reserved area (spare area). This process is also known as remapping, and "reallocated" sectors are called remaps. This is why, on modern hard disks, "bad blocks" cannot be found while testing the surface – all bad blocks are hidden in reallocated sectors. However, as the number of reallocated sectors increases, the read/write speed tends to decrease. The raw value normally represents a count of the number of bad sectors that have been found and remapped. Thus, the higher the attribute value, the more sectors the drive has had to reallocate.
    *Pending sector count*
Number of "unstable" sectors (waiting to be remapped, because of read errors). If an unstable sector is subsequently written or read successfully, this value is decreased and the sector is not remapped. Read errors on a sector will not remap the sector (since it might be readable later); instead, the drive firmware remembers that the sector needs to be remapped, and remaps it the next time it's written.
Large numbers of Reallocs or Pending Sectors would suggest your drive is failing and that you may need to repair or replace your iPod. Check your stats after another attempt to update your iPod. If the numbers increase that again points to hard drive failure. While it won't be good news at least you'll know it isn't some random software problem and you can decide what to do next.
