I'll be syncing it and it just freezes and shows this:
This iPod cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.
While that shows on my computer, my ipod is frozen on the Do not disconnect screen.
    What do I do?

i'm having the same problem. I have to hard reset it EVERY TIME! then when i go to re sync it, the songs that did get on the ipod have to resync again and then it will freeze again.
I have restore it so many times, re-installed itunes, nothing works. please help.

  • IPOD freezes while SYNCING - and then gets file error

    Hello all,
i have a standard 40gb click wheel ipod, quite old, it works, but limited. The ipod just freezes while syncing now, it has been restored numerous times, but 2 not much avail, i can get one or two albums on there, then everytime i try and sync the ipod just freezes, and has to be reset. Every TIme i plug the ipod into my vista laptop it says, the says. SCAN AND FIX, ( because i couldnt get anything else to work i tried this ) and this is what vista told me
    http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/9118/vistafixesipodlu5.png
i was like woah, so i proceded to restore the ipod then it seemed to work, for a day. then went back to the freezing while syncing, then next time i plugged in the ipod, windows said the disk needs to be formated before it could be used, so i tried that ( cos itunes was doing sweet **** ALL ) and windows couldnt format it, and neither cos HP USB FORMAT Tool. so i reset the ipod, plug it back into vista, and behold, SCAN AND FIX COMES UP, so i click it, it fixes it, but only loads 1 album before it freezes while syncing again, i have the screenshots,it took 11 screenshots, to get the FULL MESSAGE, that vista chkdsk gave me, there was thousands of these "BAD LINKS IN LOST CHAIN at CLUSTER XXXXX Corrected" messages
im currently listening to Three Days Grace on the ipod, works GREAT, except if i try and put more then this ONE album on it, it freezes while syncing, and gives me the unknown file error. SO any ideas if this ipod can be fixed, cos itunes cant do anything, im assuming there is physical unrepairable damage to the HDD of the ipod and will need replacing if this ipod wants to be in full working order again.
The ipod is NOT under warranty either, so does any1 know where in Australia, it be fitted with a new HDD? Thanks
    kind Regards,
    Hayden

  • Ipod ejects while syncing with ITunes

Every time I plug in my IPod to my computer it says it's syncing and I can see it coping files over but after a while my open screen changes from "Do Not Disconnect" to the Regular IPod Main Menu screen and then eventually it goes into sleep mode and continues to charge or just let me know it's charged.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I Think I found the fix. I had to set my IPod to Disk Mode and reboot my PC. It actually syncs now, but I am still having some issues with some songs flagged when the sync process is complete. They appear on the playlist but do not play. I searched for the songs thru windows explore and the files are not there. My guess is that ITunes just does not copy them for what ever reason and moves on to the next song in the list. The temporary fix I am using is that I tell it to only sync those songs that are checked. If a song is flagged I uncheck it from the list, sync the ipod and then re-check it and sync again. Though it is tedious I have made it copy the songs it did not copy over in the first try.

  • Ipod freezing while syncing large files

My 30GB ipod video will freeze while sycing large files such as movies or audiobooks. When this happens, you can here the hard drive in the Ipod making alot of noise. I think the drive is near death. Has anyone had a similar issue?
I'm using an Intel Imac (OSX) with a mac formated Ipod. I have rebooted the Ipod and have even done a factory reset in the past. It will fix it for a little while, but the symptoms return.

I wish i could but im having the same problem. please someone help us!!

  • Accidentally ejected ipod nano while syncing and now it's frozen.

The iPod screen is now stuck on the "don't eject it now" admonition. It won't turn on, off, or do anything--it's just frozen. What happened was I minimized iTunes while it was syncing and that seems to have caused it to try to eject. How do I get it to wake up? Thank you for any help.

Try doing a hard restart on the iPod (how depends on which generation unit you have).  You may also need to connect OT to the computer and do a restore.

  • HELP ! Ipod froze while syncing so I unplugged. Now not showing any music on Ipod or in Itunes but will show the songs in my ipod control

So basicly I was trying to figure out on how to get all my album art back on my 160gb Ipod Classic. It showed in itunes but not on my ipod. My cover flow was full of Question marks. Having 140gb of music ir was fustrating manually putting it back on to each album. This happened a few months ago. So the 5 or 6gb of new music i put on since this happened is on my Ipod and show in my coverflow on my Ipod.
It came to a point where i had to leave my computer and noticed that my ipod was still in a synchnnizing stage and seemed like it was frozen. Having to leave the computer I had to unplug the ipod. By doing so, when i turned it on it said that i had no songs on my Ipod. When plugged into my itunes it also says no songs but at the bottom of the itunes screen it shows there is 140gb of "other Information" with 1.5 gb remaining but not music. I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder. I have had a few different computers since this new ipod has music from ages ago from an old 30gb classic and have transfered over the years on multiple computers (so restoring or syncing to this computer is out of the question). Thus all the ratings and playlist are very dear to me. Hundreds of hours invested in this ipod OVER 6 Years. It seems like there is some file missing or needed to link everything together.
I have spent endless hours trying many diffferent aproches. Like one forum said go into AL'S IPOD>IPOD CONTROL>ITUNES.. when in there they said to look for a file called ITunesDB and another called ITunesD8.old and switch them and rename ITunesD8.old_mlpmp but i only have the ituned DB not the ItunesDB.old
    I also tried
Also when i plug in my ipod a notice in windows says "DO YOU WANT TO SCAN AND FIX E>AL'S IPOD
There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you
remove the device or disc before all files have been writen to it
                                                                                          SCAN AND FIX (RECOMMENDED)
this will prevent future problems when copying files to this device or disc
                                                                                                               OR
                                                                                                CONTINUE WITHOUT SCANNING
So i figure the problem started when i went into my control panel and chose show all hidden files so i can look at my files in the Ipod_control and was fooling around with the preference area by selecting the read only icon and disabling the hidden icon. I tried reversing this before ejecting my ipod but it was stuck in the Synchronizing do not disconnect mode and would not eject. Everytime i did try to eject it said in itunes with a yellow triangle saying " files or folders are in use in another area and cannot eject" even tho everyting has been closed......
ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO FIX??????? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

A bit confused by your statement

. I do not understand why the music is clearly on the Ipod but wont reconize it anywhere.
Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and  use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile.

  • IPod Crashes while syncing and fully charged

    Hi,
My Ipod crashes when its fully charged and syncing to Itunes. Anyone know how to fix?
    Thanks,

Well, I tried the five R's. My iPod still crashes out after about a 1/4 of a gig gets synched up.
I get an error message "unexpected error unable to write to ipod -124" or something like that.
What's strange is my iPod will be fully charged. Then, in the couple minutes most the iPod says its low on battery. -- I had a battery replaced only about a year ago.
Has anyone come across this problem?

  • Nokia 6300 reboots while syncing contacts

    Hello,
At first let me make 3 points clear:
    - I use the last version of my phone firmware
    - I use the last version of PC Suite
    - Syncing was perfectly working until then.
    This is what happens now:
I have 305 contacts in Outlook, which used to sync seemlessly with my Nokia 6300... until recently. Since 2 days ago, the sync triggers a phone re-init at the 224th contact. I've tried several times and this is always where the sync process fails. All calendar and notes sync flawlessly, and I could do a phone backup.
Any idea as to what I can do?

I had a similar problem when I first tried to use PC Suite after upgrading to a 6300. The phone was switching off after I got to 119 of my 162 contacts.
The answer seems to be that you need to 'tidy up' any contact information you transferred from another phone or have updated. Its a bit laboroius but it worked for me.
Edit each of the contacts deleting those that contain no information and remove any spurious characters or symbols that may have appeared.
I did this and can now get PC suite to read all my contacts.

  • IPod frozen while syncing

I just got an iPod shuffle as a gift -- it's my first iPod. I charged it, hit autofill and it's frozen, stuck on the same song (song 51) for hourss. I read the manual; it doesn't look like I did anything wrong. The orange light is blinking, so I am supposed to eject it before disconnecting, but when I try to eject either by double-clicking on the eject icon or by dragging the iPod icon on the desktop into the trash, nothing happens. iTunes is also frozen and not responding (it's got the beach ball going.) I'm not sure what to do. It seems like it's time to "Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore," but I don't want to damage anything by turning off the iPod or the computer when it says, "Do not disconnect."
    Thanks.
    Susan

Force quit iTunes... then eject shuffle in Finder. Restart iTunes and click File>GetInfo>Summary on the track that iTunes seemed stuck on... It may be damaged.

  • Ipod touch, Freezing while syncing.

everytime i connect my ipod it syncs my music and pictures fine, but when it starts to sync my apps it syncs about 3 apps. Then my ipod freezes while syncing, forcing me to restore my ipod from recovery mode. When i say it freezes, i mean that my ipod has the "Sync In Progress" screen, with the battery in the center, and on the bottom of the screen the "Slide To Cancel Sync" on the slider. normaly the slider is always flashing highlighting a few letters at a time, across the screen, saying "Slide To Cancel" When it freezes the slider stops flashing/scrolling and then a little spinning wheel starts to spin in the center of my ipod, on the battery logo. After about, 30 seconds the wheel stops spinning, my itunes freezes up, and my iPod touch freezes up. as soon as i disconect my frozen ipod, my itunes works again. then my ipod is stuck on the frozen "sync in progress" screen. i then have to do the long recovery/restore. Then i decided change my settings from automatic syncing to selecting what i sync. I synced my music, fine. I synced my Pictures, fine. i then decided to sync one app at a time. I first synced solitaire, fine. Then i synced sextuple, fine. Then i synced Super Monkey Ball, my ipod froze!!! So I thought that mabye thats what was freezing up my ipod. then i had to restore my ipod, again. and start the whole process over again. I synced sextuple, fine. Then i Synced super monkey ball, again, and it synced fine. then i synced solitaire, worked fine. then i synced Cube Runner, My ipod froze again. on a totaly different app. i had to restore from recovery mode again, and i synced my music, pictures, super monkey ball, solitaire, and sextuple. then i decided, i will just keep my ipod away from a computer so it won't happen again. so i have 23 apps, and i only have three on my ipod. i really want to keep trying to fix this, but i don't want to have to do a restore, and then have to resync all of my music/pictures again. I really want to know whats up with my ipod. PLEASE, IF ANYONE CAN HELP, PLEASE DO SO. I WILL BE TOTALY GREATFUL. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I have been having the same problem too. i was sick and tired of it so the i brought it to an apple store and basically just told me stuff i already know, then 2 days later it started happening again. So i went to the apple store yet again, different guy same nonsense, "let me check your battery" "let me see if you memory has problems" "don't have too many applications running at the same time" on and on.. all that happened is that they restored it and said it should work... well clearly i go home to sync it, everything freezes, i go back they give me a new one... yet here i am 3 days later still having the problems even with a new ipod. i reinstalled itunes like 6 times, restored my ipod 4 times... so basically everyone is having the same problem... i guess we just gotta wait til apple realizes that they have a big problem to fix and does something for us

  • My iPod won't sync on my newly downloaded iTunes after I rebooted my laptop because I got hacked! PLEASE HELP! I cant sync anything and it only comes up with Step 1 of 1 instead of the usual 4 steps

Hello everyone,my names Charlotte and I was wondering if someone could help me with my iPod not syncing to my iTunes properly.
Okay well basically,a while ago my laptop caught a virus and in the end I ended up having to reboot the whole thing.
(My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate)
However, because of this,it meant I had to download iTunes again, and so I did.
(I have the latest iTunes and iPod Touch version downloaded)
Then I found a way how to sync all my music from my iPod touch (not the 4th gen) to my laptop, so I did and put all my music and more (from albums I haven't downloaded yet e.t.c) onto my newly downloaded iTunes.
But anyway, back to the original topic. Because of downloading iTunes again and rebooting my laptop, my iPod Touch wont sync to my new iTunes and I don't know what I can do to fix this?
Another thing I did notice was on the 'Devices' option on the sidebar, it now says 'iPod Touch', instead of 'Charlotte's iPod'.
I'm really stuck on what to do because when my iPod does sync to my iTunes it says 'Syncing iPod Touch (Step 1 of 1)', when usually it should be of 4 steps, like backing up data and transferring purchases e.t.c.
    Then it just finishes sync..
One thing I did do was de-authorize it and re-authorize it again as I found online that it worked for some people,.... for me it didn't. To be honest I didn't expect it to work as I thought it was just for anyone trying to hack/take away your music...but it was worth a shot anyway.
    But please help!
I really want to put more songs onto my iPod
    Many Thanks for reading this,
    ~Charlotte

Update: I deleted all my songs in itunes and then put them back on, and then proceded to sync my ipod again which worked! the songs are being put on

  • ITunes 7.6.2.9 freezing while syncing, won't shut down without reboot.

I've been lurking here for the past few days hoping to find a solution to my problem. So far nothing is working. Here's the scoop:
I have two iPods as seen below. iTunes updated the other day and I now have 7.6.2.9 which Apple reports is the most recent version. After this update I had synced the older iPod and did a firmware update on it (it isn't home very often so it had been a while since it's last sync). The Classic is normally synced every few days to keep it all up-to-date. After iTunes updated I started getting odd error messages when plugging in the Classic. One told me I had purchased content on my iPod that was not in my library... this could not be true as this iPod has never touched another computer to get such things and it syncs automatically. I told it to delete the stuff and sync, it seemed to work, but I noticed some of my songs had stopped playing. I looked around and all the suggestions on this issue were to restore the iPod. So I did. Thats when the fun started. For some reason 7.6.2.9 WILL NOT re-sync my iPod Classic. There are over 2000 tracks of audio that are now gone from my iPod because I restored it and the most I have been able to sync is around 200. Everytime I plug the iPod in and iTunes starts syncing (on both manual and automatic), iTunes freezes up and stops syncing the iPod. iPod goes from "synchronizing" to "connected".. but it hasn't finished transfering the songs. When this happens, iTunes WILL NOT shut down. Can't get to the iTunes screen... it's on the taskbar, but clicking it does nothing, nor will Alt+Tab take me there. Right clicking on the taskbar and selecting Close will bring up the "program is not responding blah blah blah" dialog box and I tell Windows to close it, but it will not. I can't even kill the process in the Windows Task Manager to get it to stop running. EVERYTIME I plug in my iPod, I end up rebooting my computer to get iTunes to stop running. This of course is leaving my iPod only partially sync'd. This is really making me mad. PLEASE somebody help!

    FYI...
I think I found my problem. I'm doing a partial sync now to my iPod to see if it works. After going through every step possible including uninstalling iTunes 7.6.2.9 and rolling back to 7.5 without success I had pretty much given up to taking my iPod to the Apple Store to see if they could test it's hard drive. Which, makes me wonder why they took the HDD scan off the Classic's diagnostic mode and left the Firewire test which you can never complete.
While talking to my husband on the phone and explaining to him what it was doing and questioning whether his iPod had been acting strange... I ran across an article in iPod Support talking about how to fix issues with iPod not recognizing the hard drive properly and songs disappearing. It mentioned another of my symptoms... Windows kept treating it like a hard drive and wouldn't eject it when iTunes did. It had completely stopped ejecting on it's own afer a sync. The problem started out simple and progressively seemed to get worse.
The article mentioned a network drive causing the iPod to change drive letters and iTunes would sometimes put files meant for the iPod on the drive. I don't have any network drives connected.. haven't in about a year. So I shrugged it off at first... then it dawned on me. The iPod had always came up as drive K:. But now it was showing as L:. I had created a partition last weekend to install a second OS and it had taken the K: spot. Apparently my iPod did not like this and iTunes was too accustomed to it being K: that it would forget partway through the syncing process and start looking for K: again? I went into Disk Management and changed K: to Z: and the iPod back to K:. I have done a few small syncs with success (only certain playlists, etc). No error messages, the iPod ejects when it's done and the songs STAY on the iPod. I'm doing a larger sync now of about 800+ tracks. If that works, I'll put the remaining 2000 back on.
Apparently ever since the day I had both iPod's plugged in, the 5th Gen has been known as L:, so iTunes didn't see anything different with it when it synced. Mine had moved, however, and was throwing a temper tantrum!

  • I lost a lot of tracks while syncing my ipod touch with iTunes. I have managed to get some of them back with a free download, but iTunes will not let me dowload whole albums which I have paid for. It does recognise that they have been purchased. What do n

As I've already said to get this far: I have lost a lot of tracks while syncing my iPod Touch with iTunes. I have managed to get free downloads of some of the single tracks, but when I try to download entire albums the system informs me that I have already purchased them and a pop-up window informs me I can get them back from my "Purchased" file. I would not be trying to dowload them again if they were anywhere on the iPod, would I? The other problem seems to be that with single tracks I don't know before I hit the purchase button if I have picked it from the right album and I have had to pay for it again.
I feel that I have been totally ripped off by iTunes and, apart from ranting on this forum, I don't seem to be able to let my feelings known. It's like a guy from my local record store coming round and nicking my albums and telling me that it's tough!
The point here is folks, that it was syncing two Apple sites which caused the loss of these tracks and from what I've read elsewhere this is a regular fault. And please don't tell me that it's my fault for having a pc. Apple shouldn't sell a product for pc, when it doesn't work on pc!

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

  • I am trying to sync my iPod, and while attempting it I am getting the error message "(whatever the song name is) cannot be downloaded because your computer is not authorized", but when I go to authorize my computer, it says it already is authorized. ???

While trying to sync my ipod, I keep getting the message "(songs) could not be downloaded because the computer is not authorized", but it is. It says there are 100 songs that will not download. What is the problem? Also, I have loaded some music from CDs onto my itunes, and some of them are not loading onto my ipod when I sync . . .
