IPod receiving iPhone txt messages

My sons iPod touch is receiving my iPhone txt messages. I know how to disable by stopping iMessage on iPod, but it keeps getting enabled so he can use FaceTime. Is the connection between the two made via the apple I'd? The email associated to the iPod under iMessage, or the phone number under iMessage. How can I stop this from the iPhone? Change password of app,e I'd? Change the apple id name and password so the iPod doesn't match? Or does it use my cell number stored on his iPod? If its the later, I would hate to have to change my phone number for this... I will not have access to the iPod for at least a week and I need to do this ASAP.

This is typically caused by both devices sharing an Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime. I would recommend signing out of iMessage and FaceTime on the iPod Touch. Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out. Then (after creating an Apple ID if necessary) sign in with the desired Apple ID.

I recently switched from the iPhone 4 to the Samsung Galaxsy S4 and am no longer able to receive text messages from other iPhone users. I have combed the forums looking for a solution and so far have come up empty handed. What seems to be working for others is not working for me. Here is what I've tried so far:
Turned on my old iPhone and iPad, went into settings and turned off iMessage, removed iCloud, disabled FaceTime, and disabled my AppleID in the iTunes & App Store settings. I do not own any other devices that could be using my Apple ID.
I logged into Apple's Apple ID software and unregistered both devices from my Apple ID account.
I logged into iTunes and changed my Apple ID, address, removed credit card info, and deactivated all accounts attached. I even deleted any backups that were stored. It's basically a generic account now with no information relevant to my old account.
I went to the Apple Store and they suggested this was a problem with AT&T...
I spent hours on the phone with AT&T... they directed me to Apple, do you feel my pain?
I'm losing my mind here, I'm on call 24/7 for my job and rely on emergency call out text messages for critical incident situations. I am not getting those messages because they are being sent from an iPhone based system. If anyone has any additional information on this I'd really appreciate it, I can't afford to wait 45 days for Apple to recognize I am no longer using the Apple ID associated.

Thanks for the response. I contacted Apple at the link you listed and spoke with a representative. We walked through the steps I took in my first post above to ensure I had done them correctly. He didn't offer any new suggestions other than making sure my contacts turn on their MMS before texting me.
Unfortunately that is not working either. I tested this with several friends and I am still not receiving their messages. They get a response immediately upon texting me that says the message was undeliverable. They are able to receive my messages, I just don't get theirs.
Any other ideas?
It's mind boggling that Apple has made this such a difficult transition. There should not be repurcussions for choosing to discontinue the use of their product. The only other thing I can think to do is have my service provider change my phone number... what a nightmare.

You have to turn off iMessage in your old iPhone if you still have it in Settings > Messages. If you don't have the phone anymore you can try deleting your previous threads with iPhone users, and if that doesn't work you can call 1800MYAPPLE and they can help you disable your iMessage account so that you can start getting those iPhone user text messages.

Not receiving all SMS txt messages from other carriers

I've noticed that i'm not receiving some txt messages from what appears to be Verizon customers.... it happens during pockets of time. I have not been able to track the exact timeframes. is anyone else having sporadic issues receiving SMS from other carriers? i know of atleast 3 friends that have replied to messages from me that i never received the response.

I'm curious. Did you port your number from Verizon when you activated the iphone? I was having the same problem with not being able to receive text messages from my Verizon friends. It turns out Verizon didn't completely disable my number on their end even though the phone number was ported. It took someone from technical support at AT&T to call Verizon while was on the phone and explain the problem to Verizon. Verizon then disconnected my number on its end and it wasn't until then that I started receiving text messages from Verizon users.

TS2755 not been able to to receive txt messages since the iso7 update.

Since i updated my phone to the latest iso 7 upgrade i have since not been able to receive normal txt messages and imessages or very few when in wifi range and none ehrnout of the wifi range .

You need to add another email Messaging address to the iPod and remove the Apple ID email address. see:

TXT Message, Max Number of Contacts??

When sending a txt message, whats the max number of contacts u can send a message to? Since I've updates to iOS 4.1, I can only TXT 8 contacts at once.

My iPhone 4 isn't Jailbroken and has iOS 4.1 installed. Since my original post I've had a play about. This is exactly what happens:
1. I receive a txt message.
2. Select edit and the forward.
3. The To field is blank with the + symbol on the right.
4. I start to select the contacts I want to forward the txt to.
5. I get to ten contacts and the + symbol disappears
6. To add further contacts I touch the field where the txt is.
7. I touch the To field again.
8. The + symbol reappears and I can then start to add further contacts.
Is this normal?

Unable to send or receive mms txt messages. Even have turned off phone, remove battery for 30 plus seconds with no success. How can I resolve this issue?

Please ensure that your cellular data is enabled http://bit.ly/1468U13 (thanks tikibar1) and then test. MMS messages are sent via cellular data. Keep us posted.

Txt messaging and vibrate

Hey guys,
I have just got a 6220. I have a few questions if anyone could answer them.
1: With txt messaging is it possible to have the contacts set up like my nokia 6500 slide.
i.e when clicking on the TO button it comes up with a list of : Recently used, Favorites, contacts etc..... at the moment it just goes to all of my contacts which results in wasted time in having to try and find the 15 pple i txt most.
2: Is it possible to get smileys on this phone ?? my nokia 6500 had a whole bunch and this phone only seems to have one after pressing the 1 key repeatedly ... i love my smiley faces and want them back (having to type them out is to slow)
3: how to i change the vibrate to vibrate for longer and stronger. on receiving a txt message it vibrates for a second (the vibe seems very weak as well !!) so i always miss calls and txts when on silent mode !!!

You need to go to the Messages settings on her iPod and remove the Apple ID, or at least the email address, you use for iMessages.

I recommend that you
Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

Hi Chris thanks for the reply , my iMessage was working until I listened to voda domes instructions to do a network reset now it's says waiting for activation , I have reset the phone I have a SIM card change as Vodafone thought my SIM card was faulty and took the phone back to the shop and changed it for a new one , I've been on many forum sites and a lot of people are having the same problem as I can send a txt message bit can't receive them Andy account is set up correctly on vodafones side ... If you didn't have imessage on and now do, it sometimes takes a while to get synced up.

I have an iPhone 5 and got my daughter an iPod Touch. I set it up using my apple ID so she could use my iTunes. Now we are having contacts synch issues and she is receiving some text message threads that I exchange with other iPhone users.

What is the best practice here? I want her to have her own contacts, etc., but to be able to download music and aps from the store using my account, and to synch her music with my iTunes. Any suggestions? Thanks!

- On her iPod go to Settings>iCloud and turn off contacts and other things if you want.
- On the iPod go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and add here own email address and delete the Apple ID email address. Also uncheck yur phone number if it appears. The only way to delete the phone number is to use an Apple ID not associated with the phone. You do that in Settings>Messages>Apple ID
You can go to Settings>FaceTime>Yu can be reached at and add here email and delete the Apple ID.
