Ipod refuse to scramble songs

The first time I uploaded my music to the ipod everything worked normal (if I pressed the buttons for scramble or repeat it would). Then a couple of weeks later I added a few albums who refused to mix in with the other songs and just stayed in full-album-length.
Some time ago my pod broke down and I had to erase all music and start over again. Now NO songs will mix for a varied playlist, they just keep playing the same order artist after artist. I've tried different settings, like mixing up the playlists manually but nothing helps.
My ipod is not synced to the itunes I'm using right now. Is this the reason it's not working? Cause I hate the sync-function, it completely messes the ipod up.

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is marked as part of a compilation or 2) it is missing an album name.
If the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.
Also if tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. • IPod refusing to play selected song?

About half the time when I navigate to a song, the iPod refuses to play it, and simply reverts back to the home screen, ie. Music, Extras, Settings, etc.
After I hit the center button of the click wheel, the song comes up, and the timing bar comes up, and it looks like it's going to play, but ultimately it doesn't, and as mentioned reverts back to the home screen.
this problem has reduced this iPod to a random jukebox player. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx. devanson

i had something similar happen to me but my ipod nano skipped through every track i tried to play, and i couldnt listen to anything. i just connected my ipod to my PC, synced, and it was fine after that

  • ITunes Refuses To Copy Songs Without Syncing

Besides being the most annoying music device I've owned, the iTunes works perfectly for it. iTrash refuses to copy songs to my iPuke unless I sync them and in doing so it wants to copy all 12GB's of music to an 8GB device. Who came up with this connection system? There's a worm in my apple.

If the capacity of your iPod is smaller than the size of your library your library you have a couple of options.
    1) Manage your iPod manually and drag whatever content you wan to it from iTunes:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer, once you are connected you can change your settings: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
    2) Use the option "Sync Music - Selected Playlists. Syncing selected playlists is just like syncing your whole library only on a smaller scale and more "selectively". When your iPod is is set to sync selected playlists it automatically picks up any changes you made to that playlist in iTunes since you last connected. Anything you added to the playlist will be added to the iPod, anything you deleted from it will be deleted from the iPod. In other words the iTunes playlist and the iPod are kept "in sync".
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 7400MB for a 8G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod.

  • IPod failing to show songs

My video iPod refuses to show certain songs under artists, that are shown under songs-browsing, and that are on the iPod and in iTunes like any other songs. The id3-tags are alike, and f.ex. is Ben E. King's song "Stand by me" listed when you look under songs, but not under Ben E. King in artists. However, the other Ben E. King-songs are listed under both.
Any idea of how to solve this problem?
I have updated the iPod to the newest software, and I've got iTunes 7.0.1

  • I have an older Ipod shuffle with many songs loaded on it. How can I transfer these songs to a new computer since the old computer is no longer available

I have an oder Ipod shuffle with many songs loaded on it. How can I transfer ths songs to a new computer since the old computer is no longer available?

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

  • I have an iPod Classic and when I try to move songs from my library to my iPod, my iTunes freezes. When I tried to eject my iPod, nothing happened and I had to force quit iTunes. When I unplugged my iPod, all of my songs had been deleted. What can I do?

After attempting to move songs from my iTunes library to my iPod Classic, the pinwheel kept spinning and iTunes froze. I tried pressing CTRL E to eject the iPod, but nothing happened. I unplugged the iPod then force quit iTunes, but when I checked my iPod all of the songs had been deleted. I tried plugging the iPod back in and slowly moved music over again, but iTunes still froze. I don't want to restore it to factory settings because I am afraid of losing the pictures I have on there and can't figure out how to get them off.

    Are you using a Macbook?
If all your songs on the iPod are deleted, most likely the photios are gone too.
Unless you put the photos, via Diskmode.
To recover the photos that you've put in Diskmode, use Finder to locate where it is in the iPod.
Try also if iPhoto can locate those photos.

Did you restore to factory defaults/new iPod and sync stuff to your iPod?  If you restore from backup there may be some corruption that is now in the backup.

  • Ipod will not update songs

I think this question is similar to a few others but I'll post it anyway. My computer crashed and when I got it back up and installed the hardware that came with my ipod nano, all my songs were erased from my library and when I plugged my ipod in it asked to make it all one library. Thinking it would put my songs off my ipod back in to my library I said yes and **** if it didn't erase all my songs from my ipod and left me with nothing for my more than $100 worth of music from itunes.
Now I cannot update any songs to my ipod from my library. What the hizzle is going on!!!??? I'm stuck with a ipod that can't get any songs on it and I haven't a clue what to do. Please help!!!
    don't know   Windows XP

and installed the hardware that came with my ipod nano
Do you mean the software which came with your iPod?
Now I cannot update any songs to my ipod from my library.
You couldn't do this before. iTunes is one way. Computer to iPod.
I'd say restore the library from the backup you made before your computer crashed but tha is pretty unlikely, isn't it?'
Since you already told it to delete the songs on teh iPod and replace it with your (non-existant) library on the computer, those songs are gone.
You can send an email to iTMS and see what they say.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/lostmusic/
After you get all your music back, make sure to back it up.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302392
why I cannot update my ipod with songs from my library?
iTunes prefs -> iPod. Set it to Automatically update ALL songs and playlists.
This will put the music from your computer onto your iPod. If it's not on your computer, it will be deleted from your iPod.

  • ITunes has lock symbol; iPod will not update songs from library

My iTunes has a lock symbol next to remaining space area. Also, the remaining space says that there is 1.4GB of spaced used up even though there are no songs in the iPod folder or on the iPod itself. I have tried resetting the ipod and tried to copy and paste the songs over to the ipod folder with no luck. It says "updating files" for a split second but stops and nothing is actually moved over.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable, then you need to change to manage the content manually.
You could restore the iPod to be sure the hard drive is completely erased.

  • Recently downloaded new ITunes.  Can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Help????

Recently downloaded new iTunes.  Now I can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Never had trouble with the old iTunes format.

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (but perhaps it does more)
If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • Why is my iPod Touch now repeating songs once in the Bose Dock?

Why is my iPod Touch now repeating songs once in the Bose Dock?  How do I get this to stop?  I have already done a factory restore and then reloaded my music onto this iPod.

I had this problem after upgrading to iOS4, but didn't discover it until I got to the gym and went to start my workout! No music (except the stuff they play at the gym) meant a short workout for me!
I figure that the glitch comes from the fact that when you upgrade to iOS4 iTunes takes a backup of your iPod, does the firmware update and then puts the backed up content back on, I'm thinking that there are some subtle differences between iOS3 and iOS4 that cause confusion.
THE FIX! I have found that the best fix (in fact the best course of action) is to restore the iPod from iTunes (just hook it up and hit the "Restore" button and tell iTunes to treat it as a new iPod. Then just re-sync all your content and it should work perfectly. It is a much easier way of getting your iPod updated without as many glitches.
    HTH!!

  • Why is my iPod Touch 5 removing songs I have synched? Plenty memory space

Why is my iPod Touch 5 removing songs I have synched? Plenty memory space. It seems to be deleting tracks which I can then download from iCloud (if there is wifi) but I dont want that

Seems like you have the incorrect sync settings

Many users think it is easer to sync if Show All is turned off in Settings>iTunes and App Store
