IPod registration through iTunes forces my country to US - should be UK

I am trying to register my iPod Nano (3G 8GB if relevant) via iTunes but my country always comes up as United States.
I log in to my account on the first page and choose 'United Kingdom' from the drop down list (even though I believe this only applies to the create new account option) and move to the second page. There I am shown 'United States' as my country and cannot change it.
My iTunes account is registered to the UK and I am linked to the UK iStore as far as I can see. What is forcing this United States' selection?
Any ideas?

I may have spoken too soon. After I used the fake zip code (and yes, I just typed in 12345) I was able to use the iPod normally (bought some new music, ripped some new CDs, etc.), but later today when I reconnected before ripping some more CDs, it asked me to register again. So obviously, my fake solution didn't work.
I didn't give up though....I then went to www.apple.com/support and clicked on the link to register my product. From there, I registered it manually by entering the serial number off the back of the unit.
After I did that, I decided to look at my profile to see if it was correct, and there I discovered my country had been changed to US. I then fixed my profile on the website and saved it. THEN, one more time I disconnected and re-connected my iPod, and this time when it asked me to register, it had the correct country. I registered, and now everything works fine (verified it twice).
That's a lot of work for a company that claims to have such wonderful software.
I hope this helps you, too. Merry Christmas.

I downloaded 2 cds onto my ipod nano through itunes.  Recently my itunes account changed for some unknown reason and now it doesn't recognize the songs from the cds.  The songs are still on my ipod.  I am affraid to sync now because the songs may be deleated, and I don't have the cds anymore.  How can I transfer the songs from the cds on my ipod back to itunes so that I don't lose them?

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not your "account."  The "account" you have for iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use when purchasing or downloading from the iTunes Store.  If these songs came from music CDs that you imported into iTunes, those songs are not related to your Apple ID.
Recently my itunes account changed for some unknown reason and now it doesn't recognize the songs from the cds
How are they not "recognized"?  Are the songs still listed in your iTunes music library, but grayed out?  They no longer appear in your iTunes library at all?
If you search your computer (not in iTunes) for the song files, using one of the song names, can you find the song files?

  • Playing (not stealing) a friend's iPod music through iTunes

I develop an application for control and playback of iTunes from external control systems, and have been asked if we can control playback of the content on an iPod. We set up inexpensive macs to act as music servers, and they want the doctors who come in and use the system to be able to plug their personal player into the system for playback during an operation.
In testing, I can plug in and control any of the three iPods around the house that use our account with no problem. But, if someone brings over an iPod and plugs it into my computer, can I play back the music on it through my computer? It seems reasonable.
+Please no flaming about "Because you're stealing" and the like. I pay for ALL of my songs. It's not the same as taking the music from the iPod with a hack, or keeping a fully-loaded iPod from a friend permanently. It's like someone bringing a CD over for a party and leaving with it afterwards.+

If you want to play iPod songs through iTunes you need to change the setting in the iPod's Summary tab to "manually manage songs and videos": Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Thanks. I'm not sure how that relates. For example, I just plugged my iPhone into my PC that has never seen this iPhone before and the iPhone's music is all grayed out. The "Manually manage.." check is not checked on the PC, where it is checked on my Mac.
Then I plugged my daughter's Touch into the same PC (which also have never been connected) and I can access the music. The "manually manage..." check IS checked... What gives?

  • I can't acces my new iPod nano through iTunes..it seems to have been barred

I just installed my new iPod nano.. I already had an iPod and so I still had all my old music saved in my iTunes library.. I added that music to my new iPod. So it appears in the column alongside the 'Library', 'Store' and 'Playlists' tabs (underneath the 'Devices' tab) but it wont allow me to select any music or play music from my iPod whilst in iTunes.. It seems like its all barred.. I have no idea why.. I can still acces music from my library but I cant through my iPod.
I've downloaded the newest version of iTunes.. what other settings should I change?

If the contents of iPod Nano appeared to be "greyed out", you have the Nano set to autosync. If you wish to manage the iPod content directly, you will have to set you iPod preferences to manually manage. Manually manage will also allow you to play iPod content through iTunes.

  • I downloaded a movie on my ipod touch through itunes and can't get it to cloud to my ipad 2

I downloaded a movie on my ipod touch thinking I could cloud it to my ipad2, i bought it through itunes. I go to itunes and the only things i can cloud to my ipad are music and tv shows. Why can't my movie be clouded to my ipad2?

Movies are not one of the items you can reload via iClould like apps, music, and some other items.  You can contact iTunes and request a redownload,.  They may give you one.

  • I made changes to songs on my iPod 4G through iTunes, but the changes do not show up on my iPod.What is the problem?

I have the iTunes program for Windows. Last night I upgraded my 4th generation iPod touch to the ios 5 software, which wiped out all my music. I put some of the music back on my ipod after it was restored, but then I tried changing the song information under the 'get info' option. The changes saved and registered in itunes, but no matter what I do, the changes won't appear on my iPod's music library. Any suggestions?

Now title changes are showing up on my iPod, but not artist and album changes

  • Tried to Sync my ipod classic through itunes 11.2 on my new vaio laptop

Haviing tried everything from restoring multiple times, to resetting to jumping on one leg and crossing my fingers nothing has worked
I got a new laptop, tranferred all my music, got the latest version of itunes 11.2, restored my ipod so it would sync with the new library.
    WORST MISTAKE I EVER MADE
its completely destoryed my ipod classic, it freezes, i've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, I down graded to 10.7,
Then I thought maybe its the laptop/windows 8 so i connected it to my old laptop windows 7, restored it and exactly the same issues, which have never in the year I ve had my ipod classic have I had
now having done a manual check of the hardrive
    it states
    retracts: 21

    pending sectors: 0
    power on hours:61

    max: 55c
Is there anything that can be done that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

I'm having sync issues too since I've updated to 11.0.4.  My ipod 160 will no longer sync properly or will hang when attempting to sync yet my 4th gen touch doesn't have any problems.  I am thinking about uninstalling it and rolling back to an older version of itunes.

  • Cannot select tracks on ipod classics through Itunes.

    Hi
Once I connect my new IPOD to my mac, the IPOD itself shows up and the list of music on the IPOD shows up in ITunes, but I edit/select tracks at all. Its as if they are locked. Any idea how to overcome this?

If the songs are "greyed out" it's because you have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is also why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable, then you need to change to manage the content manually.
Please note that by editing/changing the songs on your iPod in this manner, the changes will not affect the songs in iTunes, only on your iPod.

  • Adding single TV shows to iPod touch through itunes

    Hello,
It seems that with the current version of itunes, you can only add seasons or the most recent 10 tv shows to your ipod. However as i have lots of tv shows in itunes, i would like to be able to add certain episodes. You can do this as movies but not as tv shows. Does anyone know any workarounds for this or whether it is being changed in future versions of itunes?
    Thanks.

Have you tried unchecking the shows you don't want on iPod? This may be a situation where this is a good idea.

  • Download old iPod touch date into new iPod touch through iTunes

How do you download old iPod data into new a new iPod?

Simply connect the new iPod to the same computer that was used to sync the old iPod.  iTunes will know the difference and will assign a unique name (which you can change if you wish).

  • Updated to iTunes 7 and can no longer play music off my iPod through iTunes

The title says it all. I can no longer play music from my iPod through iTunes now that I have upgraded. When I click on my iPod there is a little black lock beside where it shows the disk usage.
anyone have any ideas. I like some of the new features of this version of iTunes but it really seems to be a few steps backwards.

That little lock usually indicates that the iPod is set to autosync. In order to play iPod content through iTunes, you have to be on manual sync.
