Ipod related to iTunes crashing?

I have looked through bunch of messages about iTunes crashing during importing, and I have seen a couple of hints that it might be related to the use of an iPod. In my own case, this problem of iTunes crashing during importing (it usually happens to me only when importing multiple tracks) started around the time my daughter got an iPod nano and hooked it up to my Powerbook G4. My wife also has a Powerbook (different model and older OS) that has not been connected to the iPod nano and her iTunes continues to import just fine.
Does anyone else believe there is something to this connection?

I am experiencing a similar problem. I put my 5G into the dock and after iTunes launched, I went into the Store. iTunes immediately crashed. I relaunched, go into the store and made a purchase. The download started, and iTunes crashed again. I re-launched, and iTunes resumed the download. A few second later, iTunes crashed again.
I found this post, disconnected my iPod, and relaunched iTunes. iTunes resumed the download, and crashed shortly thereafter. This has gone on a number of times (I am up to about 10 attempts). iTunes downloads for a few seconds (maybe 30 at most) and crashes.
Any thoughts. The only difference I know in my system as of late, was the download for the Daylight Savings Time patch for OSX and Java that I completed last night.

Syncing photos to iPod makes my iTunes crash

I just bought my 4G Nano(Third-Generation) a week ago. It works fine at music.
But everytime i try to sync my photos to iPod my iTunes crash.
I put all my photos into one directory (5MB, 110pics, all low res picture), then start sync them in iTunes.
When the process bar comes to one certain place it stopped, then few minutes later iTunes crash.
Then the tray shows windows message like "coudn't write I:/"(I'm using a chinse version of XP), sometimes iTunes shows could't transfer too.
But there's still 32 photos tranfered, and available to watch them on iPod.
I tried sync some other photos again later, this time the as soon as I started to sync photos, iTunes crashed, then the "coudn't write I:/" message.
I tried again with 5 some other photos, it transfered 2 only, and the same thing comes up, iTunes crashed, the "coudn't write I:/" message.
So, anybody cam help with a solution? It will be perfect to watch photos on my iPod :\

Well, after my fifth try, it worked out.
I just randomly pick out 48 pisc that i liked from my 110 pics. (which are all batting pictures of Albert Pujols. Then it just worked)
No carsh, and less than 1 minutes. (2MB only)
But I won't call this answered, maybe this'll happen a lot in future, I just get lucky this time.
I've search the forum and knowing that VITSA has the problem with syncing photos crashs system, but I'm using XP, not many syncing photo problem in XP beeing seen after my search.
So i'm still very curious what cause this, anyone knows?
And anyone has the same issue i get, please reply.

My Ipod is making Itunes crash, so I can't inport any songs!

I downloaded itunes 7 as my old itunes I used with my ipod mini wasn’t compatible, although now I cant put any music on my ipod because when I connect it it makes my itunes crash, saying that itunes is not responding. I have re-formatted my ipod and reinstalled itunes several times and still no joy. Can anyone help as I am getting desperate.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Help! my ipod is making itunes crash as soon as i plug it in

i'm running osx 10.5 and itunes 9.0.2, my ipod is a 4th gen nano. everything has been working fine until yesterday when i was importing some music and itunes just crashed out of the blue. i had my ipod plugged in at the time but every time i tried to reopen itunes it gives me the spinning beachball of death and crashes, then i get that "application has unexpectedly quit" message. so i unplugged my ipod and restarted my g4. now itunes will open and work fine but as soon as i plug in my ipod the beachball pops up and itunes crashes. the ipod is however showing up on the desktop. so far i have uninstalled completely and reinstalled itunes, and repaired my permissions with both DU and drive genius, but itunes still crashes when my ipod is plugged in. please if anyone has suggestions i would really appreciate some help, this is very confusing. thanks.

Delete all the plist files and also try removing and reinstalling itunes.... if that doesn't work, call 1800MYAPPLE for free support.

Ipod Touch update - Itunes crashes

Finally i doanloadet 2.1. for my Ipod touch.. but when i click the update button, there is instant the windows error message.. itunes crashed : /

To all those who suggested to leave it and wait: No, it's not a wait-and-see problem, iTunes CRASHES when i click on the "Update" button. It doesn't install, nothing to do with having to wait longer or anything.

Instead of clicking on "Update", click on "Restore"! Works perfectly (though probably not the way Apple intended us to update...).

Hook up my Ipod and then Itunes Crashes

Was working like a charm a week ago. Came back from a trip and hooked it up and Itunes will not open now when I try to hook up the device. I have a Shuffle that has had no issue's at all. I have reformatted this Ipod to Windows on my Pc Laptop and then tried to hook back to mac. No deal. Same thing. Crashed again. Does not even give me chance to do anything, Freezes up then closes. I saved all my stuff and then deleted Itunes as was told to by the help section on the support pages. Restarted it and the same deal still happenened. Crashed the second i hooked up my 30GB 5th gen video model. My computer will see the device which is bizzare but thats it. I am now really stumped and need some help of any kind please!!

You might try forcing the iPod into disk mode first, then connecting it to your computer and see if that makes it show up in iTunes...

My iTunes crashes every time I plug in my iPod!

I have two rather older Apple products A 160gB classic ipod and a MacBook with OS X 10.5.8. Lately, everytime I plug my iPod in my itunes crashes while attempting to sync. The computer recognizes the iPod ad I am able to safely eject it but I can't get anything updated! I then have to force quit Itunes. Thoughts!

What is the iPod firmware number as shown in the iTunes summary screen?
Have you tried switching to other USB ports?,(don't use any USB Husb or the USB port on the Keyboard.)

Help: Just updated to 2.0.1 Ipod crashed now iTune Crashes

Hey i just updated my ipod touch to 2.0.1 my iPod Crashed after the update and wouldnt go further then the apple logo screen after recovering the ipod it worked fine now when i conncect my iPod to my iTunes it goes into a long sync after that my ipod wont back up if i cancel it everything goes normal then when i try to sync songs it will not sync and when i try to sync apps it goes 10 % and stops if i cancel it my iTune crashes
Then i restarted my computer
Now everytime i plug my ipod in my itune crashes

ok just restored my ipod the apps seem to be syncing but now its the only thing syncing plus i have to keep clicking sync help

Vista 32 - iTunes crash

After I synced my iPod earlier today, iTunes crashed, and I thought nothing of it. Now, I can't start the program for any reason. I've un-installed, re-installed, upgraded bonjour, done all of the steps at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717 and nothing seems to work. I got it to open once before when I stopped all of my services, however, when my anti-virus, Symantec AntiVirus (which I can't get rid of or I'm denied access to my campus's internet service), bonjour, and 'iPod Service' are running, iTunes crashes before it can even open.
I'm running Vista 32 Home Premium, and this is the first time I've ever had an issue with iTunes or my iPod.
Does anyone have a clue as to why I can't open iTunes?

If you have completed the troubleshooting method in the link you gave, you should know if your problem is system wide or confined to one account.
Which is it?
Do you get any error message when you try to start iTunes? If not, open your Task Manager and look on the processes tab, do you see iTunes.exe there even though iTunes has not opened?
Also try starting Quicktime, does it work normally? iTunes can not work if Quicktime doesn't.

ITunes crashes when I plug in my iPod mini to my Mac

In the last week or so I have not been able to update my iPod mini, as plugging it in to my Mac makes iTunes crashes. My Mac still recognises the iPod, as it shows up on the desktop. I have updated iTunes to 6.0.5 but this hasn't helped. I am having problems with some other software since I updated my operating system to 10.4.7 -don't know if this is related.
Any thoughts?

My guess is that those are unrelated problems, and about ur itunes crashing try pluggin in ipod withought itunes open then wait a few minutes before opening itunes this has worked for me in the past.

ITunes crashes when iPod is connected

Hello, I just got the 5th gen iPod and everytime I connect it to my powerbook g4 (10.4.3) itunes INSTANTLY crashes, as well as when trying to play a video itunes instantly crashes (this has been going on on and off since the video update) I am using itunes 6.1 and I've tried reinstalling it and I've restored the iPod? any advice?

1. QuickTime can play .mov correctly
2. problem: everytime i connect to my iPod Video to Mac mini, iTunes crashes immediately. After that, I tried to reinstall everything (including iTunes, iPod Updater) after cleaning everything related in the system (but iTunesHelper couldn't be removed until I restarted the OS) but in vain.
3. iPod Video can sync with iTunes 6.0.1 (with updater 2005-10-12) correctly. Just cannot talk to my Mac Mini!

My sisters ipod touch was being registered to my itunes account and then itunes crashed at the final stage and now it wont give me an option to sync my apps and songs from my itunes to her ipod. What can i do?

- You need to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and start anew. Is the restore button visable in iTunes? If it is they restore the iPod.

ITunes crashes when I connect my iPod to the PC when iTunes is running....

I have written about this problem before, but there have not been any successful solutions as of this date. I will explain my situation a little further and maybe someone can help.
Most of the time, when I connect my iPod to my pc while iTunes is running, the instance the iPod shows up on the library site, and whenever I move the cursor, iTunes crashes, so I have to close iTunes right away and try to disconnect my iPod. Most of the time, a message comes up that says info is being transferred to the ipod and that I shouldn't disconnet it at that time, but I usually go ahead because I know it isn't transferring at that time, since itunes has crashed.
Sometimes, after I have clicked on the first message to go ahead and disconnect my ipod, another messages comes up that says something to the effect of, "You can't disconnect because it is being used by another server at this time." So I click "OK" and then iTunes stays on for a few moments which gives me time to transfer a song or two, but then itunes crashes as soon as it finished transferring or before it finishes.
As anyone can imagine, this has really become a hugh problem. Having an iPod and not being able to use iTunes makes it very unhandy. I'm not able to add any new music or any of the playlists which i have been working on. Does anyone have a solution, or any suggestions as to what may be going on? It would be deeply appreciated.
I plan to restore my iPod in a day or two if I don't get a solution to this, but I don't have all of the music, videos, etc. that I have on the iPod since I removed much of it from iTunes to help the computer run faster. I had over 2000 items in the library, so it was pulling the pc down and it was taking forever to use the computer.
I am unable to use any of the software to transfer everything from my iPod to the iTunes library because of the problem with iTunes crashing when I connect the iPod, so this isn't a solution at this time.

I suspect a hardware problem. But do the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.

- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Resore the iPid to factoery defaults/new iPod.
In the latter part of you post, I thin you ar sayng that you do not have a syning computer and the music is not on the computer. If so, do the following so you will not lose anthing (or very little) when you restore.
- Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

- Connect the iPod to the computer and right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup. This will make a backup so you can restore to the backup
