Ipod reorders tracks from what itunes shows

I put the NKJV Bible on my Ipod. The tracks are named 01Gen001,01Gen002,01Gen003, etc. It shows them in the correct order when I look at the files in itunes on my ipod. But when I unplug the ipod the tracks are arranged in a random order. Is there a simple fix for this problem other than renaming the 1152 tracks?

I have this exact same problem.. exactly.. and it breaks my balls.  I am not OCD about songs, but it's nice to be able to put all the songs of one artist on, without whole albums being repeated with other albums missing songs like you said.  I hope someone cleans this act up for us. Peace
UPDATE: I might have figured it out... randomly some songs in an album are marked as "part of compilation".  It turns out this is messing everything up! when you untick it and add them back into your ipod.. ORDER IS RESTORED!! YES!!! i was losing sleep with this ****. x

  • IPhone 6 shows a different free storage from what iTunes shows.

When I go into the storage section on my iPhone (iPhone 6 iOS 8.3), it shows a different number from what iTunes shows when I connect the device to it.
There's around a 500 MB gap that I cannot understand why is happening. This is kind of critical 'cause you know how many apps or pictures can fit in 500 MB and I don't know which number to follow.
Anybody else experiencing this? Any suggestions on how to fix?
    Thanks in advance.

this one is actually a really rare symptom of a flaky connection to the ipod on a Windows PC. there's more going on in terms of hardware on nanos and 5th gens than in the earlier models ... so if the connection is flaky to precisely the right/wrong degree, itunes will see the ipod, but misidentify it as an earlier version of ipod.
tracking down the cause of the flakiness can be tricky ... as you already know ...
just checking. have you tried connecting with a different (known-good) USB cable? does that seem to have any impact on the rate of occurence of the problem?

    - Try moving the backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new one.. It is locate here and you may have to have show hiddn files turned on.
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    - Also try here assuming a PC. The link provides a link for XP.

  • Ipod duplicates an album, but itunes shows it only once.

Mi ipod touch has started to duplicate several albums, but my itunes only shows a single copy. The difference between the 2 albums is that one copy will have several tracks missing while the other will be complete. If I delete the one with missing tracks from the ipod it deletes those tracks from the other album, so I end up with just 2 or 3 tracks. I have tried deleting it in itunes and syncing the ipod and then re-adding the album to itunes. This is just a waste of time as it always re-syncs the ipod with both copies again. If anyone can help I would be greateful.

  • My iPod became unlinked from my iTunes library

When I last went to connect my iPod Classic (newest model) to my laptop, it wouldn't sync. I clicked on the music tab of the iPod settings screen and noticed that "Sync Music" was unchecked for some reason. When I clicked it I got the following message: "Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, and TV shows from this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?" I didn't sync this iPod with any other computer, so I clicked Remove and Sync anyway.
When I clicked "Apply," I got the following message: "The iPod is synced with another iTunes library on “[my]MacBook”. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?"
The same thing happened with my iPhone. Both have always been linked to this laptop, and I did not change anything that might have caused this. No upgrades, no nothing. I didn't even restart the computer between the last time I synced it successfully and now, although I tried restarting after I found the issue in case this would fix it. It didn't.
In principle I don't object to erasing and starting over, since it's all the same music. However, I want to know why my devices suddenly think my library is different, and if this is a problem. Ideally, I would like to relink them to this library, because I had a lot of settings and apps stored for my iPhone on the library as well. Any suggestions that don't involved wiping the devices would be helpful.

iPhone is synced with another iTunes library...but it's not.

  • My music library on my phone doesnt match what itunes shows it has on it

Suddenly the music on my iphone library doesnt match even what itunes is showing is on my phone. I purchased some new songs yesterday from Itunes, and then tried to compile them into an album like I have for years. I go into info, leave only the name and artist, create my own album name, click part of a compilations, blah blah blah.  When I transfered over the new personally made album, first I noticed the songs didnt transfer over under one album, they all retained there original album info even though I deleted it, so I now have 8 songs unorganized just floating around on my phone. Then I noticed that music I have deleted from my phone is on there, music I want on my phone is not showing, and best of all, when you compare the music on my iphone to what Itunes is showing on my iphone, they dont even match! And, I cant add or delete songs from my phone. Any suggestions on how to fix this mess?

Connect your device to your computer.
On iTunes left Pane, select iPhone under "Devices".  Then on right Pane, click the "Music" Tab, make sure "SYNC MUSIC" tab is checked.  Click the SYNC button on the lower right Window.

  • Copying certain tracks from old iTunes to new library

I have iTunes on the Mac OS 9 partition of a G3 iMac and want to copy certain tracks from that into the iTunes library of my iTunes on my Mac Mini OS X.4.8 I have in the past copied entire libraries between computers using firewire, but this time I just want to add to my present computer a few tracks that are in the old one.
I remember about a year ago reading about a utility whereby you set up the two libraries side by side onscreen and moved whatever track you wanted across in either direction. I can't locate that or remember the name.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi there,
I copied the whole entire iTunes folder into my music directory on my new mac (as I had my own account on his mac), and then once that was done I dragged and dropped this folder onto my iTunes icon.
It's imported playlists, but not star ratings.
Is there something I should have done before exporting my music onto my hardrive in the first place? I've read somewhere about exporting ratings or exporting playlists or something....
    Cheers,

  • I am trying to make a mix on Garage Band by dropping songs in the tracks from an ITunes playlist.  I have done this many many times and suddenly I am unable to drop the tracks into Garage band.  They swoosh right back into the iTunes playlist

Suddenly I am unable to transfer songs from iTunes to Garage Band.  When I try to bring the songs over to Garage Band they will not drop into the track.  They immediately go back into iTunes.  I have made many mixes using GB and cannot figure out what has happened.  Ive looked through system prefences, help window, etc. and cannot understand what has happened.  Any advice?

either use the Media Browser in GB, or drop the actual song file into the timeline (cmnd-shift-r will reveal the file from iTunes):

  • My iPod won't sync with iTunes, shows in the source pane but can't highlight it

Given an older iPod and downloaded songs last year, now iTunes won't recognize it. It shows in the source pane giving me the option to transfer purchased songs but won't allow me to pick sync. iTunes is version 11.0 while iPod is version 1.3 but I don't know how to update the iPod if iTunes won't recognize it.

  • HT1368 How do I add tracks from my iTunes Radio history to my wish list?

The question speaks for itself. Thx

    Hello Greg,
Glad to hear you are enjoying the songs on iTunes Radio.  You can add songs to your iTunes Wishlist a couple of ways.
If you are currently listening to the song, you can click on the ">" icon to the right of the song name to add it to your iTunes Wishlist:
Alternatively, if it is a song that has already played on a station you created, you can expand the station by clicking on the icon for the station, and you will see your play history to the right of "Play more like this."  Right click (or hold control while you click) on the price of the song in the History list to add it to your iTunes Wishlist:

  • Track from iTMS plays in itunes, but not on iPod

Five minutes ago, I purchased a track from the iTunes Music Store (Sunspot, by Moby). I downloaded the file, and it plays without a hitch in iTunes.
When I sync my iPod, though, I find the track is not playable on the iPod. I can find and select it in the interface. When I try to play it, though, it immediately takes me back to the main "iPod" menu. On one or two play attempts, it briefly flashed the cover art on the display of the iPod Video, but it then took me back to the "iPod" menu.
I am able to play other tracks on the iPod. I've purchased dozens of tracks and I've never seen this before. Any advice?

You can try this - It seems to help some people that are having weird authorization issues:
Make sure you delete the old one off of your iPod.
Copy the file from the iTunes music folder to your desktop.
Then click on it and it will play in iTunes.
Now add this new one back to your iPod.
If that doesn't work, you can email iTunes Support using the form at the bottom of this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/
Let them know what's happening & they may be able to give you a new copy or refund you.

  • Can an Apple TV play any TV show from my iTunes library?

I'm considering buying an Apple TV but I had a few concerns/questions. I recently just organized all of my TV shows and movies onto iTunes with the new iTunes 11. Is it possible to stream non-iTunes purchases with the Apple TV? I know you can stream/rent/buy TV shows and movies directly from the iTunes store with the Apple TV.
But I'm wondering if it is possible to do so, when I try to stream my non-purchased shows and movies, what is the UI like? The reason I'm asking is because I transferred my collection to iTunes to keep it organized in terms of being able to keep track of what what's watched/unwatched and organizing it by season, as opposed to just using folders in Finder. When using Apple TV to stream all of this is it going to be similar to what iTunes shows on my computer in terms of organization (unwatched number badges) etc., or is it just going to look similar to if I was browsing through it all in Finder.
Sorry for the very confusing post, I just want to be sure that Apple TV is going to keep all of my content nice and orderly before I spend $99 on something, otherwise I'll just stick with a flash drive.
    Thanks for any help!

If your TV shows are properly formatted to play on an ATV and information tags are filled in properly the shows will work the same way iTunes purchases do on an Apple TV. You'll have to search the web for specifics since discussing these issues here is frowned upon.
