IPod replacement - out of warranty

My iPod isn't under the one year warranty anymore. I received it free from freeipods.com. I want to do an online service request and send it in to apple, but I have no idea how much a replacement will cost. Does anyone have an estimate?
And if I get a new one back, does it come with a one year warranty?

The repair terms say that the replacement iPod will be guaranteed for 90 days. So if the problem is more than just a battery, you may well prefer to put the money toward a new iPod.

How to go about getting screen replacement - out of warranty

Hi,
My T61p is out of warranty, and the LCD had begun displaying white pressure marks and is generally alot dimmer. Whilst i'm comfortable using computers, i'm not comfortable replacing hardware parts myself. How would i go about getting the LCD replaced and possibly upgraded from WXGA to WSXGA+? Can this be done through Lenovo, or would i be better off looking for a third party company to do this for me? If it can be done through Lenovo (which tbh i would prefer), how would i go about arranging this?

As for Lenovo not advertising, not making it easy to get post-warranty / out-of-warranty repairs, this mostly boils down to a cost to return value issue.
For every possible failure of any possible hardware-combination, you'd need at least one (bare minimum, say more likely 4-5) at every repair shop who stocks their own replacement parts, and at least twice as many at any central hub supplying said repair shops. This costs money, and as the hardware gets older, less and less demand is being put forth for work done on said hardware - hence the replacement parts take up valuable shelfspace, and is considered a too high cost vs. value.
This is the same for any type of product, really. If you buy a washing machine, it'll get harder to get parts for it after 5 years than after 2-3 - simply because maybe the only place that still has the parts is the main facility, or maybe the parts aren't even produced yet.
It's also based on a life-expectancy of the equipment - computer equipment, while more than able to function beyond 5 years of use, have a limited value after short time, simply because the development of new, more powerful parts continue. A top-of-the-line computer from 3 years ago will be surpassed by a medium to low-end machine today, for half the cost, or even less.
Hence, you get third-party service centers, eBay, etc. which can help you if your old machine have a problem - it's usually not that hard to get hold of Lenovo-parts, simply because they tend to keep design over more than one model-specter, and they sell a LOT of each model, mainly to business clients, which tend to exchange their hardware on 3-5 year cycle, depending.
I don't really think it's uncommon to see manufacturers not supporting, or providing repair options after the models' shelf-life has been terminated, and mainly all warranty-services are off. This is the same for HP, Dell, Lenovo, Apple etc. Of course they CAN repair it, for a steep fee, but it's most often not worth the cost, and very few people pay it - instead opting for doing it themselves, or having a local PC repair-shop do it.
At least, both Lenovo and to some degree HP have very good manuals available, including a full tear-down of the hardware.

My iPod is out of Warranty? Um...Why?

Hey all, I checked on the online support center here on the Apple website for the first time. I put my serial number and pressed submit, at the bottom of the screen there was a window that says "Current Warranty Status" or something and right under it, it said "Out of warranty"....Um, I purchased this iPod on the 26th of December last year why is it already out of warranty? This is the one time I really need help from Apple and now it says it's out of warranty? Why? Should I just give the tech support team a call?

If you provide proof of purchase (reciepts) that state the date of purchase, then you should still be eligable for technical support and/or warranty claims - as the Apple warranty *begins from the date of purchase.* - So you have 4 days.
+"Apple Computer, Inc. ("Apple") warrants this hardware product against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original retail purchase."+
My suggestion is buy an AppleCare plan if you are still found to be in warranty, and get the extra year of tech support.

Ipad battery replaced out of warranty now screen not working.

I had my first generation Ipad replaced via the battery exchange in December 2012 and now the replacement's touchscreen is not working sometimes. Do the ipads that come via the out of warranty service come with any warranty?

I can only offer my story. I bought a used 1st gen Iphone. PO had upgraded to 3G. After about 6 months for no reason my screen froze. Called Apple care and suggested I reboot, reinstall, etc.. None of it worked so AC suggested I go to the Apple Store and let them look at it. They told me they could replace w/a refurb @ $200.00, I could buy a new 3G @ $400.00, or I could get a third party to repair it. I mentioned to the Apple guy about the reports of the screen going dead on some phones and he said my phone fell outside the serial numbers that were affected. A little upset, I called AC again and just pushed a little more. I told the guy since it was a mnufacturers defect but my phone was out of warranty I would go half on a refurb at $100.00. He said wait a minute, came back had me send my phone to them and they sent me a replacement phone free. Talk nice to the guys and they will try to help. I said so what I have here now is a very expensive paper weight, is that right? That's when I said I'd go halves on a refurb. I guess they took pity on me. Hope it works out for you.

Can I get my broken ipod touch (out of warranty) replaced at an apple store?

I plugged my ipod touch in to charge last night, the power went off and my ipod fried. I've tried holding the menu and lock button a number of times, but it won't turn on. I can replace it online, but I was wondering if I could visit an apple store and get it replaced there and then for the same price? The warranty has expired.

Basically my Ipad 3 is bent. They said they can replace it for £250 is this only valid whilst its in its 1 year warranty or would they replace it with payment outside of warranty does anyone know ?

Broken Lock Switch, iPod out of Warranty???

Okay, here's the dilemma... The lock button on my iPod touch 4th gen recently stopped working, but my iPod is out of warranty. The lock button seems to actually be stuck in the iPod, and doesn't click or anything when I try to press it. It is actually jammed into my iPod. Apple does not have a trade-in program. You can either try and restore your iPod, or you can try and sell it yourself. In some locations, Apple does provide for a recycling program, but the amount provided for devices is quite low.

Out of warranty Iphone 5 replacement - can I do this in-store without a genius bar appointment?

My Iphone 5 has died and despite attempts to fix this in-store I have been told that I will need to buy a replacement out-of-warranty phone. I have been through the genius bar process last month to try and fix the phone but without success. I now simply want to buy the replacement phone (at the reduced rate as the phone was not damaged by me). How do i get a shipping box for out-of-warranty ipod battery replacement?

i have signed up online to have my ipod battery replaced. the pod is out of warranty. the email reply only tells me to pack it well because apple won't deal with it if it is damaged in shipment. the only instructions i have found in my search at the apple site seem to deal with apple automatically sending the shipping package for in-warranty pods.

gee, apple acknowledged my request for a replacement on 0905, but i don't have a box yet.
i called my apple store, and they also said that apple would send me a box.
i just noticed that you said "from the moment you request the box." how do i request a box? i have only "ordered" the replacement battery -- apple terms it an "apple product replacement request."
i guess i am impatient, but i'm beginning to feel that i am in the middle of a kafka novel.
