Ipod requires 50 MB of storage in excess of the size of the playlist

I have a 1GB iPod nano. I can accept that the unit holds something less than its stated capacity. I have previously stored a maximum sized library of songs which was 892MB in size.
Because it was acting a bit strange this am, I "restored" my unit. I also added and deleted some songs from the playlist in my itunes library to which this ipod is synched. Even after the changes, the library still consists of a collection of songs which are 892MB in size. When I went to sync it the first time after the "restore" referred to above, a message appeared which indicated that the ipod could not be synched with my library because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the selected playlists. (942.5MB required, 892.2MB available). I am not clear on why the ipod thinks that 942MB are required for a playlist which is shown on itunes to be 892MB in size. I don't want to have to delete and additional 50MB in songs. I am already below the 1 GB capacity that I thought i was buying when i purchased the unit. Can anyone explain this to me?

- When you deleted them did the requested amount of storage space decrease?
- Try resetting the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- When you look at the colored bargraph of storage usage on the iPod in iTunes how much is taken up by "other". If greater than about 3/4 GB then restoring from backup usually reduced the "other".

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • HT5527 how may i now purchase Cloud storage in excess of 5GB? can the purchase be set to automatically renew year to year?

Complimentary iCloud storage in excess of 5GB expired 9/30. How may I purchase additional storage? Thank you.

Read here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4874.  If you purchase a storage upgrade it will renew ever year unless you downgrade it.  The expiration of the free 20GB upgrade for former MobileMe users is a special situation.

  • I have enough free space on my storage but yet it won't let me install the app. I have checked the size of the app and I have more than enough room. How can I fix this?

If you could post a resolution or an explanation it would be much appreciated. Regards

Do yo really have enough free storage?
To download/install an app directly to the iPod you need available storage equal to about three times the file download size. Syncing the app to the iPod requires a lot less. Thus you either have to free up more storage or sync the app from your computer.

  • Is there any difference in the size of the same app between the iPod Touch 5G and the iPad Air / Retina iPad mini?

Lets say, Real Racing 3 occupy the same space in the iPod Touch 5G like in the Retina iPad mini or iPad Air?

I think you didn't understand. I meant the size that takes from the flash memory. I hava an iPod Touch 5G and the app was 1.4GB the day that was release.

  • Does the heart bleed bug affect my Mac iPad and iPod and my cloud storage? Do I have to change the passwords?

Have I got to change my passwords to secure my apple software and data as a result of this heart bleed software security breach?

Your passwords would only have been compromised if you went to a secure site that was effected by the breach.  You can put the url of the sites you have been using here to test if they are currently effected: https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/.

I'm trying to find out how to make the font size larger in "Contacts". I don't want to have to put eyeglasses on just to be able to see my contacts. There should be a way to make them larger. anyone know how? Thanks in advance.

There is a zoom feature. You can learn about it, including how to activate it, in the manual:

  • Required size of  the document

    Dear all,
How to fetch the size of the DMS document.
We have attached some documents in DMS for particular document type which we have created.
How to find the size of that file based each DMS?
is they any table or function module for this.
    Regards,

In the input table 'OBJECT_FILEPROPERTIES',fill the fields 'CLASS' and 'OBJID' of the originals. On  execution, the result shall display the files ize of the required originals.
To get the 'Class' and 'ObjID' of the originals, execute the FM 'BAPI_DOCUMENT_GETDETAIL2' by giving the Document number, type, part and version details.
The table 'Document Files' gives all the details of the originals, from which you can get the 'File_ID' which refers to 'OBJID'.In the table 'DMS_PH_CD1', you can search for the 'Class' of the original by giving 'PHIO_ID' as the 'OBJID' value.

  • Does the nano use the same dock connector cord as a 3rd generation iPod?

I currently have a 3rd gen iPod (touch wheel w/ four buttons above it) and am looking to upgrade to the new iPod Nano. Will all my old accessories be compatable with the nano? - Dock connector, AC adapator, car charger etc. Thanks in advance.

I made the same switch - 3G iPod to 3G Nano, and it all works, even the dock! Of course, even though the dock connector works, the sizes of the two are difference, so anything that the 3G iPod fit perfectly in will be too big for the nano - but that has nothing to do with the connector.
A little trick you may not have though of - if you have a Firewire cable for your old iPod, you can connect the new nano to the charger that came with your 3G iPod - it won't sync, but it will charge.

  • Could someone explain the differences between the 3 iPod Video versions?

    What are the differences between
iPod Video / 5th Generation iPod,
    iPod Video 2nd Generation, and
    iPod Classic 6th Generation?
If I understand correctly, the only thing that changed between the first two was the size of the hard drives. If that's true, all I'd like to know is what's new in the 6th Generation.

iPod 5.5G has a brighter screen and new search features and 30GB & 80GB models.
classic has better battery life, coverflow, more games, ability to watch rented movies, better battery life and 80GB and 160GB models.

  • HT1296 Have a problem with syncing. I get this message: The ipod Bill's Ipod" cannot be synced because there is not enough space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 2.4GB required) I don't understand as I have much more space than 2

I recently ran into a problem with syncing my ipod touch to itunes on my Windows 7 pc. It had previously been synced to my older laptop
and I wanted to change to my newer Windows 7 laptop's itunes library that I had already been syncing with.
Anyway, I started seeing this message that prevents my from syncing:
The iPod "Bill's iPod" cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library
    (additional 2.48 GB required)
Not sure if it is talking about my iPod free space or my PC itunes library free space. Either way I have 11.0 GB free space available
on my iPod and 412 GB free space available on my Windows 7 PC.
How do I handle this problem?   Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks

It is saying that the iPod does not have enough free storage to sync all the items yu have selected to sync to the iPod. You need 2.48 GB more free on the iPod. You need either to select less to sync or delete some content form the iPod.

  • My ipod 5th gen says it is connected to the internet and i can go on apps that require an internet connection but whe i try to use the weather or another app that uses your current location it cant find me???

My ipod 5th gen says it is connected to the internet and i can go on apps that require an internet connection but whe i try to use the weather or another app that uses your current location it cant find me???

If you open the Maps app where does that say you are located?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds
