Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also mean that you will not get support from Apple, including from this Apple forum.

  • HT204266 my ipod reset and all my previous apps now say "up date required" this app requires ios3.0. up to 4.0.

my ipod touce reset and all previous apps now say "update required" this app requires ios3.0 up to 5.0. I have not been able figure out how to update

It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, which can go as high as iOS 3.1. If it's a 2G iPod Touch, it can be updated to iOS 4.2.1.  See here to help you identify what generation iPod Touch you have.

  • My ipod classic is rebooting again and again

apple logo comes & it reboots.

By a hard reset, do you mean pressing and holding both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear?  Have you also double checked to make sure the hold switch has not been activated?
If so, you'll need to let the iPod's battery completely drain. Then connect it to an external power source and let it fully recharge.

  • IPod reset and erased itself...help me

I can't find anyone with exactly the same problem as me. This is how it happened to me:
1.Songs started to skip randomly so I updated Itunes
2.I held Menu and Select to Reset (always worked before)
3.For the first time this erased everything on my IPod and reset all settings
4.iTunes stopped recognizing it (all songs still on PC)
5.Computer stopped recognizing it suddenly too (computer management)
6.Tried updating computer like the link said, prompts "This iPod needs to be reformatted...", freezes during update and can't get that prompt again.
I have tried everything and am at a loss.
    Please advise

Sounds like you need to restore your iPod to factory
condition and let it start again. The way to get the
computer to recognize it so that the Updater can
perform a restore is to put it into disk mode.
    Thank you for your reply.
If I restore it will it erase iTunes on my computer or can I add them back on after I restore? A gave up a lot of CDs after I got my iPod (so stupid, I know) so you can understand my dilemma. I'd like to avoid creating a new collection if I can.

  • IPod Nano Resets and Erases All Data

I've had a bear of a time with my Nano ever since I installed iTunes 7. Before then, everything was fine.
After I installed 7.0, iTunes would not recognize the iPod. I went through all of the troubleshooting steps......twice......and it still didn't work. So I reinstalled iTunes 6 and it then recognized the iPod. Then, whlie putting my songs back on the iPod, the iPod reset and I lost all of the songs. Then it didn't recognize the iPod again and I had to restore the iPod.....twice. Since then, as I'm putting songs onto the iPod, it randomly seems to reset itself, I need to rename the iPod, and all the songs are gone again. This time, it happened three times.
Do I just have a bad iPod? Is there a way to talk to a person at Apple or is the service requests all on-line?
As an iPod novice, any help would be appreciated.

  • My iPod wont turn on anymore. I have had my iPod since the end of January of 2012, Last night it shut off on me. It keeps trying to reboot itself, but all it does it show the apple symbol, then the screen goes white and reboots again. I need help. :(

    Hi, My name is Cassie.
I bought my iPod off of amazon just around the end of January of this year (2012). Last night I was playing around on my iPod. Listening to pandora, and editing pictures. I got to a picture and clicked edit, and then my iPod shut off. It rebooted itself and seemed to be running as if nothing had happened. I put my music back on and went back to the picture and tried to edit it again. I clicked the edit button and the ipod shut off again. This time, it kept rebooting. It went to the apple symbol to turn on and about thirty seconds, the time it normally takes to turn on, the whole screen went white and then shut off and tried rebooting again. It kept doing this over and over again. After a while, it did eventually stop, but only to a completely white screen. It was like that all night long because I fell asleep. (gave up on it). It is now the afternoon and after I held the lock button and the home button down the screen when off. I let it sit for about a half an hour, then I tried turning it on again. But it still is doing the same thing. I have no idea what I could have done to make it do this. Unfortunalty, I am not home to connect it to my own iTunes, but regaurdless, it wont even connect to the computer. I did have my ipod plugged in the whole time it was rebooting and shutting off last night. It was connected to my wall jack which normally works fine. But even having it plugged into the computer as it is now, its still doing the same thing. I am dissapointed that I might end up loosing everything that I have on it. I have not been able to sync it to my computer to save all the apps and pictures and music I have stored on it. I really do hope I can get some help or advice!
    Thank You!!

In updating my iPod to 6.1.2, I received an error during the update.  Now, my ipod is not rebooting.  It continues to display a screen showing usb to Itunes picture.   Turning off and back on, it goes back to this picture.  I don't know how to reset so that I can restore from my backup.
A similar thing happened when I updated the ios on my ipad.  But, I was able to reboot, and then restore from backup.   How can I get my ipod to reboot and allow restore when it is not even recognized as I reconnect to my computer?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

So randomly my ipod crashed and when i turned the ipod on again it was all white and blurred. Part of the screen is up to speed but the other half is slow. Already tried turning it completely off and restoring it on the computer

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
