Ipod Reset Repeatedly!!!!!

My ipod reset repeated!!It happen when I reset it and even after two month it reset and then it turn off automatically. It already happen to me twice. The first one works after I leave it for a week but this time it does'nt.Can I send it to Apple Store without the receipt cause I lost it?

Hi Andrew,
What is it doing if not self-maintanence?
Well, I would assume that its a fault since no where in the iPod manual does it say that the iPod will reset itself every x number of days for maintenance. (If it was maintenance I'm sure Apple would mention it in the user manual so they don't worry people)
Also, my iPod (And other people's that I've asked about this) don't have this behaviour, further suggesting that it is a glitch or fault.
If your iPod is still under warrenty you could get it fixed by Apple

P.S. I don't really follow cricket but thanks all the same.

  • IPod shuffle 2nd gen not recognized in Mac either Finder or iTunes (but is detected and works perfectly fine on Windows)... i tried using iPod Reset Utility, but no luck...

i've been working on this for the past few days, and still no luck... iPod Shuffle 2nd generation (i know it's old).... not detected in my home MacBook... but works perfectly fine on Windows....
i tried using iPod Reset Utility, soooo many times... and i only had twice the luck of having it formatted... but even though it is formatted, it still isn't recognized in iTunes or even in Finder.... other than the 2 times of having it formatted using iPod Reset Utility, i had seen all the reuslts, like: Error ressetting the ipod blah blah: iPod has been reset, keep plugged in, until reset is completed blah blah: iPod has been reset, unplug and replug your iPod blah blah... etc, i have seen all the possible effects of iPod Reset Utility, but still no luck getting it recognized in iTunes or Finder....
and then , i tried connecting it to a windows computer (but i didn't restore it from there, and just ejected it from windows iTunes), after ejecting it from windows, and then connecting it to Mac, it worked miraculuosly.... perfectly synced and able to put music and listen to them... ejected iPod... after a few minutes, i wanted to add some other music, but when i connected it again, Bam!!!! not working again... even after connecting to windows, it didn't work anymore... guess the magic trick has been doomed...
i badly need help... puhlease...  (^_^)

Hey, I hear ya and can sympathize. I have the same
issue. The difference is that my computer can "see"
    my ipod but it refuses to show up in itunes itself;
therefore, I can't put anything on the ipod (from the
computer) and vice-versa. Apple support is clueless.
This is very frustrating to say the least. Itunes
keeps telling me that my ipod is synced to a
"different" computer, which isn't true. It's the
same computer. The difference is that when I first
got the 'pod and used it with this computer (and
everything worked fine), I was running XP. I
installed Vista and after that, all the problems
started. If I ever get this resolved, believe me,
    I'll post something here.
I'm guessing that somehow, itunes "sees" what
computer it's hooked to by "looking" at something in
the OS. Change the OS and it "thinks" it's seeing a
    "different" computer.
    Try reformatting it.

  • IPod reset utility ( not compatible )

Pls help me with this... my operating system is windows vista, itunes cannot able to read my ipod, it said that i have to reset it with "ipod reset utility" but it is not compatible with my O.S.

well the only problem with that is that
everyone i know use vista -.-

  • Vista problems with iPod reset utility

I can't even run the installation program. I keep getting a message saying that "iPod Reset Utility requires that your computer is running Windows 2000 or Windows XP".
My OS is Windows Vista. Anyone have any solutions? Many thanks...

    LeeGalaxy,
The minimum system requirements for the utility are as stated in KB 305204
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305204
    System Requirements
    - Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4, Windows XP with Service Pack 2**
**iPod Reset Utility 1.0 is not supported for use with Windows Vista.
That said, some have had success, in using iTunes with Vista.
However, this article lists some important information on that configuration:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305042
And you may be able to use iTunes to setup your iPod. Have you tried that?
Or were you attempting to use the iPod Reset Utility, as described in KB 305204, to solve one of these symptoms:
    - iPod will not play music, and cannot be restored using iTunes.
    - iPod is not recognized by iTunes, but is visible in My Computer or in Device Manager on a Windows PC, or in Apple System Profiler on a Mac.
    - iPod shuffle (1st Generation) is identified as a device in "Recovery mode."
    - iPod shuffle (2nd Generation) is identified as a "USB DFU device."
If not, you may find this helpful:
Restoring iPod shuffle to factory settings
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300701
Just to confirm, it is my understanding you have the iPod shuffle (First Generation), correct?
    Hope this helps,

  • Ipod reset utility

My iPod Shuffle (2nd Gen) needs a reset. iTunes won't recognize it and gives me: "iTunes cannot recognize this iPod at this time. You must restore the iPod with iPod reset utility before it can be used with iTunes." So I downloaded the installer for the iPod reset utility and ran it, only to discover that the installer is for 32bit operating systems, and I am running 64bit Vista. Anyone know of a 64bit iPod reset utility? Or am I S.O.L.?

Ok, so I just re-read the literature for the iPod reset utility and noticed this: "**iPod Reset Utility is not supported for use with Windows Vista." So maybe it doesn't matter if I'm running 32 or 64 bit...I'm operating Vista so I guess there's no way to reset my shuffle, unless I can find a friend who still runs Win XP. I'm open to any other suggestions though...

  • IPod Reset Utility virtually useless! endless reset loop

I say "virtually useless" because once every 30 or so resets- no I am not exaggerating!- it bloody works.
I would like to use this thing while I am still young- is there some magic trick to this $#@!! problem?
I have the most recent version of iTunes and the reset "utility"- and resetting the iPod with either, through a powered USB dock or plugged directly to the Mac, immediately after rebooting the Mac with or without the iPod dock attached- I cannot find any pattern to get this thing to reset and actually work!!!
Even when iTunes refuses to "talk" to it, it shows up in Finder- so it is still recognizable to the system as an iPod.
Yes, iTunes recognizes it- only it says it's in recovery mode, and that I have to reset it- and it's a stinking endless loop from then on, with 3 exceptions. Three. Out of dozens of resets, since I'm still enough of a sucker to keep thinking it'll work eventually.
Short of taking a hammer to this thing and putting myself out of this misery, is there anything I can do short of a 45-minute-each-way drive to an Apple store? Because I have done that-twice- and of course it synchs when I'm there.

OK, did the SMU resets- more then once because the first time I plugged everything back in and the iPod reset didn't work; an additional time, with nothing but the iPod plugged in, it seems to have worked. I say seems because it's blinking orange and I'm worried about unmounting/disconnecting it to try to play it- the last time I thought I had fixed it, it was doing this...
Oh, and I'm running 1.0.3 software- thankfully,I had kept the old reset software...
I'm going to wait a bit and see if the blinking stops. Maybe it's just recharging, but I've barely played it, so it seems unlikely it needs much, if any charging.
Not to be looking a gift horse in the mouth, but since the first reset, including after the two subsequent resets, the fan has become noisy- isn't this supposed to stop a noisy fan, not make it noisy?
    oy.

  • IPod reset utility incompatible with just about anything

    Hi,
    Running iTunes 9.
2nd generation shuttle says "you must restore this iPod with reset utility".
Have the latest version of the reset utility, 1.04
    - NOT compatible with Vista or Windows 7
    - NOT compatible with 64-bit OS
So I suddenly have a useless Shuttle? Because I'm not running a 32-bit version of an OS that was released 8 years ago, and MS only offers extended support for? Come on, Apple.
Any ideas? I've already tried 32-bit XP in a VM with the shuttle USB attached to it.

  • My computer is not recognizing my ipod shuffle.  The computer says to use the ipod reset utility.  When I tried doing this it told me that it was for a 32 bit version which I obviously do not have.  My computer is only a few months old.  What do I do now?

My computer is not recognizing my ipod shuffle.  The computer says to use the ipod reset utility.  When I did that it came up with another message that it was only good for a 32 bit version.  I guess I do not have a 32 bit version.  I just purchased my computer a few months ago and it uses the windows 7 operating system.  What do I do now?

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

  • 5G iPod resets while listening to playlists?

Any help would be appreciated on this. At home, I recently upgraded to iTunes 7. I am also current with my iPod upgrades.
Since then, my 5G iPod (30GB) has started resetting itself seemingly randomly while I am listening to music - the song stops and the black screen/silver apple show up, then it goes back to my top-level menu.
None of my music is missing, and I haven't had any audio trouble. I am wondering, however, if having iTunes 7 at home and iTunes 6 at work (they won't let us download software upgrades) is causing some sort of system conflict.
Any advice? Is this just simply a question of rebooting the thing?
    Thx.

every app on my ipod (2nd gen) which requires wifi connection doesn't work although the wifi mark is on. i did try restarting my ipod, resetting network setting, disconnect from wifi and reconnected it but non of them worked.

This may sound silly but try your date a time setting my ipod had the same problem and i had even checked the the date and time went all the way to the apple store for help and the genius guy just rest the date and time and it worked just fine.

  • After 5 R's and Ipod reset utility, what next?

Nothing has worked so far to make my 1-gen iPod operable. (It has worked fine in the past.) I get a blinking orange light when it is plugged in to a usb port.
It shows up in System Profiler but not in ITunes or on my desktop.
The iPod Reset Utility either crashes when I run it or tells me I have "two iPods" attached to my computer, and that I should remove one. I do not have two iPods attached to my computer.
    Thoughts on next steps?

There are several different things to consider here:
    a) Disk Utility will only see your iPS when and if it's present as a mounted volume. Yours isn't mounting, it won't be seen. The fact that it's seen in the Profiles really doesn't mean anything at all.
    b) Disk Repair won't really do anything at all to a Shuffle.
    c) Re-formatting should NOT be done in your case. The only case when it's ever called for is a few cases where Windoze users have inadvisedly followed their own OS prompts to 'help out' by formatting this new drive that's suddenly popped up on their system. Even in those cases the Reset Utility will do the same thing and, beyond that, we're back to (a) above: If your iPS can be seen by Finder and Disk Utility then it can also be seen by the Reset Utility.
    d) You need to get to the stage where you can reliably open and use the iPod Shuffle Reset Utility. You might have to d/l a fresh copy of it, you might have to Repair Permissions, you might only have to log out to a Restart. What you DO have to do is to get it so that it will open and run.
    e) Once you do that, you have to make sure that you're exactly, exactly, following the instructions for its use. Severe cases absolutely require that it be run from a clean, fresh system start with nothing else at all going on, that it be given enough time to work, and that more than one run might be required.
