IPod resets when playing movie

So I just picked up my Composite AV Cable for iPod Classic and tried to use it to play a movie (Shaun of the Dead) that I had converted with Handbrake for iPod format. This movie has been on my iPod for a while and I've had no problem playing it before. But now that I've connected the Composite AV Cable, the iPod will reset when I select to play Shaun of the Dead, regardless if the cable is connected or not. Other movies & TV shows (purchased from iTunes, ripped from DVDs, and recorded & exported with EyeTV) work fine. The only difference with Shaun of the Dead is that it doesn't have chapter markers. Is there an issue with iPod Classic & the Composite AV Cable playing movies of a certain length without chapter markers?

What kind of movies are they? Did you download them from iTunes store, or what? Did you have to convert these movies to a format compatible with your iPod? You need to be more specific. If you had to convert your files, then something could've gone wrong with that. Too many variables here. Need more info.

  • Lost all my sound when playing movies and shows from internet

i seemed to have lost all sound when playing movies from internet.  i still have "system" sounds and beeps?

The speaker is not that good but maybe yours is defective if you have the volume fully raised.
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted and have a poor contact.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R" or "R".
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.

  • Bad quality when play mov or mp4

I want to play mov or mp4 by quicktime. In my laptop it play well but in my another computer the quality for video is very bad!
Following is the features of that computer:
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    VIA C7 Processor 1500MHZ 512M RAM
Graphics card: VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP
I upload the screen snapshot of this problem on my blog. Please look at the following url:
    http://apolloxiao.blogspot.com/2009/11/bad-quality-when-play-mov-by-quicktime.ht ml
    Thank you very much!

My first thought was a video card driver because that will produce the streaks across the screen but usually more extreme.
Then it could be hardware related, do you know the history of the computer, as to any recent changes?
I don't really have a solution and don't want to string you along. But I swap around hardware, and me, I'd pull the video card out and make sure it's seated properly in the AGP or PCI slot on the motherboard. If it's not a on-board video card.
You seem to be showing a dual monitor set-up? If so wouldn't the primary be on the right?

  • MY IPOD SKIPS WHEN PLAYING SONGS

MY IPOD SKIPS WHEN PLAYING SONGS AND THE SOUND GOES IN AND OUT. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Is the Battery level is low?
The harddisk might be dying, run the disk diagnostic, the procedure is
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/index.shtml
if it is too technical for you, but it does gives you the condition of your harddisk.
What's happening is that some songs are on bad cluster, which need to be moved or reallocate to good cluster.
To fix it in Windows simply run
    chkdsk drive: /R /F
where drive: is the iPod drive ID. D: or E:
in Mac run Diskutilty -> FirstAid -> repair.
    Good luck!

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen sound really low when playing movies/tv shows from video app

I just bought a ipod touch 5th generation for my daughter so she can watch her movies and tv shows that i purchased on itunes. On my iPhone 5S, I have no problems with the sound... Loud and clear. However with my new ipod touch, those same movies/tv shoes have really low volume. The sound while using Apps, Games and playing music are all fine. While playing from the video app, headphones are ok too... My problem is the sound from the speaker. I don't understand why all the other functions on the ipod that use sound is OK.
I have already reset my ipod and reset all the settings too... still didnt work. Please help! Thanks

  • Why do I get a white screen when playing movies?

Recently, for no apparent reason, when I play movies on my AppleTV 1st gen, the screen is completely white, no picture or sound. When I play TV shows, everything works like a charm. But whether they are movies I already own, or movies I rent, there is only a white screen and no sound.  Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    AD

Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general.

  • My ipod classic wont play movies

my dad said i could have his old ipod 5th gen (classic) and i downloaded one of my videos on to it and when i play it it only plays the sound and shows a frame of the movie like music artwork the same happens with music videos

If these are movies and music videos from the iTunes Store, I don't think they play on the 5th gen iPod (the first "video iPod").  The 5th gen iPod was released before the iTunes Store started selling video content.  Unlike songs from the iTunes Store, the commercial video content (Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos) have DRM (copy protection).  My understanding is that the 5th gen iPod does not have a "chip" needed to play the protected content.
Also, the 5th gen iPod can generally play video content with resolution up to 320x240.  Later iPods (that play video) can go up to 640x480.  So, that may be why it plays the audio but not the video on the ones you tried.  It's the first iPod to play videos; it's more limited in what it can do.

  • Ipad mini got strucked when playing movie

I am having ipad mini and when I was playing movie on that it got hanged and I tried of reseting but it was not happing so what to do now???

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Is that what you did when you said you tried to restart?
You might also try quitting the app you are using to play the movie. Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

  • My ipod resets when listening to music

my new ipod has started to give me problems. while im listnening to music my ipod will stop playing music and a black screen will show with a spining wheel in the center then it resets and goes to the home screen. when i try to open my music again it does the same thing. to fix it i turn it off and on again or conect it to the computer but the problem comes back again. i have never dropped my ipod or damaged it in any way.. i belive its the operating sistems problem but if anyone know the aswer to my problem please help

It depends on how your iPod is set up to sync music from your iTunes library whether that be automatically or manually.  If it's automatically, simply remove the tick mark next to "Sync Music" from under the iPod's music configuration pane in iTunes.
To access this pane, plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on its name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the iPod's Summary pane.  Now locate the Music pane along the top.  Remove the tick mark next to Sync Music and hit Apply.  This will remove all content from the iPod.  When it has finished, re-select the Sync Music option and again hit Apply to re-sync all your music back over to your iPod from iTunes.

  • MicroStar NX6800GT-TD256 256MB AGP - problems when playing movies

    Hello,
I have just upgraded from MSI Gf FX 5950 ultra to MSI 6800Gt AGP, and I have problems when playing all movies.
Movies are VERY overbrightened, and there are some color issues too.
    I have tried installing various codecs, nothing helped. {I did a fresh installation of windows XP, and I installed win media 9 codec, indeo codec, and Allin1 codec ver. 60.27 }
i have also tried to play movies in different movie playes {BSplayer, win media player, MSI intervideo}, still same problem.
I never had such a problem with my old FX card.
In PC games, there is no problem at all, all runs perfectly.
    Can anyone help me pls?
    thank you for any tip.

I can guarantee its the video overlay color profile. I had the same problem with my evga 6800gt pci-e card. Easy fix too. Just reset it.

  • No sound when playing ,mov files ?

I converted a .avi file to .mov and when playing it in quicktime I have video but no sound. If I uninstall quicktime and use quicktime alternative + media player classic, the .mov files play perfect. But when I install quicktime again (which i have to have for my iPod) there is no sound. I cant figure out how to fix this.

I have same problem. I have a law lecture CD with .mov files. It plays perfectly in Classic with QT 6.0 but with OS X QT 7 Pro the audio will not play. I called Apple, but got no satisfactory response from the help line.

  • Ipod resets when selecting certain mp3 files

my ipod video 5th generation resets when selecting certain mp3 files ???? As well as certain video podcasts . Whats the deal anyone ?

Is Apple working on a "real" fix for this bug or do we have to live with limited use of our iPod resources?
No one on here really knows (the creators of the programs and software do not visit the Discussions), but Apple could possibly provide a fix in the future. It may not be very "high on their list" of iPod feedback requests of new features, and bug fixes, though, since this isn't an incredibly common problem.
If you'd like to add the the voices and tell Apple about this issue, let them know here on their feedback form: iPod Feedback
