Ipod resets when using it

My 30 gig 5G ipod random resets when im in shuffle or skipping through songs in my song list. It does it randomly, like right after a new song comes up, it'll reset. I'm not sure, but I looks like its different songs that come up, so i dont think its the song itself. Please help.

I saw this stuff about turining off the EQ in order to solve the problem when in some songs the iPod reset itself.... It works!!!! That's the good news... the bad news... this answer *****!!!! C'mon guys, Apple users deserve more than this!!!!
All begun when I upgrade my iPod to the 1.2 version... Pls guys, if you are one of this few people that you are not upgrade it to the last version.... dont do it!!!
Wait until 1.3.... or at least a minor release 1.2.X
Wow... Im a PC user converted to a MAC one... but I never tought that this kind of ¨bugs¨ happen in this world!!! I'd to see it to belive it

my ipod video 5th generation resets when selecting certain mp3 files ???? As well as certain video podcasts . Whats the deal anyone ?

Is Apple working on a "real" fix for this bug or do we have to live with limited use of our iPod resources?
No one on here really knows (the creators of the programs and software do not visit the Discussions), but Apple could possibly provide a fix in the future. It may not be very "high on their list" of iPod feedback requests of new features, and bug fixes, though, since this isn't an incredibly common problem.
If you'd like to add the the voices and tell Apple about this issue, let them know here on their feedback form: iPod Feedback

  • IPod resets when playing movie

So I just picked up my Composite AV Cable for iPod Classic and tried to use it to play a movie (Shaun of the Dead) that I had converted with Handbrake for iPod format. This movie has been on my iPod for a while and I've had no problem playing it before. But now that I've connected the Composite AV Cable, the iPod will reset when I select to play Shaun of the Dead, regardless if the cable is connected or not. Other movies & TV shows (purchased from iTunes, ripped from DVDs, and recorded & exported with EyeTV) work fine. The only difference with Shaun of the Dead is that it doesn't have chapter markers. Is there an issue with iPod Classic & the Composite AV Cable playing movies of a certain length without chapter markers?

What kind of movies are they? Did you download them from iTunes store, or what? Did you have to convert these movies to a format compatible with your iPod? You need to be more specific. If you had to convert your files, then something could've gone wrong with that. Too many variables here. Need more info.

  • IPod resets when selecting Radio (Nano 6th)

When a select the radio option my nano reset. If i select the option without the headphones the ipod said "no radio signal.." after plug-in the headphones the ipod reset. I already reset using volume down and sleep button. Do I have to return my nano? i am using 1.1 software.

    Hello moldorf,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
You might want to try restoring the iPod to factory settings through iTunes first. If still no change, then yes, your next step would be to return the Nano. Here are steps on how to restore your iPod.

  • JDBC Connection Reset when using many processes on 64 bit system

    Hi,
we've a annoying JDBC connection problem since we migrated our Java server to a 64 bit operating system. Here our environment.
    Database Machine:
    Oracle 10g
Linux 32 Bit (but same problem on 64 Bit)
    Application Servers Machine:
    JDBC driver 11.1.0.6
    SUN Java 1.6.0_06 64bit
    Linux 64 bit (SLES 10 SP2)
We have 6 different Java server processes (but with the same code) which all create some connections to the same database (running on a different Hardware). All 6 Java server processes starting at the same time (via scripts).
Everything was fine, until we migrated the application server machine from 32 bit Linux to 64 bit Linux. From this day on, the half (or one more or less) of our application server processes can't longer connect to the database. The application server processes which have the problem product the following stack trace:
    java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: I/O Exception: Connection reset
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.SQLStateMapping.newSQLException(SQLStateMapping.java:281)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.newSQLException(DatabaseError.java:118)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:224)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:296)

    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:154)
    at com.aaaa.utils.db.DbConnectionPool.<init>(DbConnectionPool.java:130)
It looks like a network problem with the system but all other network stuff works without problems, between the two machines.
    - We use the thin JDBC driver (no OCI)
    - No firewalls are active on both systems
    - Both systems are in the same subnet connected to the same switch
    - The DNS configuration on both systems are ok (forward and reverse)
    - We've found the same problem on different application-server/database-server pairs with 64 bit application server hardware - but not all of our 64 bit server systems have this problem.
    - When running application server process and database on the same system (connecting via localhost) the problem does not longer appear.
    - The same database machine connected from a 32 bit application server (with 6 different java processes starting at the same time) works without a problem.
We've tried a lot of things to isolate the problem - but with no success.
    - Same problem with SUN Java 1.6.0_06 32 bit (on 64 bit Linux)
    - Same problem with SUN Java 1.6.0_15 (32 and 64 bit)
    - Played with some JDBC connection properties (oracle.jdbc.TcpNoDelay, oracle.jdbc.ReadTimeout, oracle.net.CONNECT_TIMEOUT, oracle.net.disableOob, oracle.jdbc.RetainV9LongBindBehavior, oracle.jdbc.StreamChunkSize) without a positive result.
    - We've updated Linux network driver
    - We've changed to an completeky other NIC
    - We've tried an other Linux 64 distribution
    - We've increased the PROCESSES parameter in the init.ora
    - We've tried the JDBC driver 11.1.0.6
    - We've tried the _g version of the JDBC driver, but the debugging output simply tell us "Connection Reset" without a hint why.
    - We've tried a more complex JDBC connect string (
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=" +
    "(ADDRESS_LIST=" +
    "(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)" +
    "(HOST=host)" + =
    "(PORT=port)" +
    ")" +
    ")" +
    "(CONNECT_DATA=" +
    "(SERVICE_NAME=sid)" +
    "(SERVER=DEDICATED)" +
    ")" +
Nothing of this things helped us to isolate the problem.
When we start our application server processes with a long pause (>1 min) between every process start. The problem does not occure. When we start only one application server with the same number of connections as the 6 different application server processes, everything works fine.
We have absolute no idea why
    - this only occures on 64 bit Linux
    - independent if it's a 32 bit or 64 bit JVM
    - does not occure on all 64 bit application server machines / database machine pairs
    - never occure on the same 64 bit app server hardware when using a 32 bit Linux
    - using the Oracle JDBC 10g driver (10.xxx) there is no problem (but because of other issues, we need to use the JDBC 11g driver)
Does anybody has an idea what our problem is?
    Thanks in advance,
    greetings

I was recently struggling with this exact same problem. I opened a ticket with Oracle and this is what they told me.
java.security.SecureRandom is a standard API provided by sun. Among various methods offered by this class void
    nextBytes(byte[])
is one. This method is used for generating random bytes. Oracle 11g JDBC drivers use this API to generate random number during
login. Users using Linux have been encountering SQLException("Io exception: Connection
    reset").
    The problem is two fold
    1. The JVM tries to list all the files in the /tmp (or alternate tmp directory set by -Djava.io.tmpdir) when
SecureRandom.nextBytes(byte[]) is invoked. If the number of files is large the
    method takes a long time
to respond and hence cause the server to timeout
    2. The method void nextBytes(byte[]) uses /dev/random on Linux and on some machines which lack the random
number generating hardware the operation slows down to the extent of bringing the whole login process to
a halt. Ultimately the the user encounters SQLException("Io exception:
    Connection reset")
Users upgrading to 11g can encounter this issue if the underlying OS is Linux which is running on a faulty hardware.
    Cause
The cause of this has not yet been determined exactly. It could either be a problem in
    your hardware or the fact
that for some reason the software cannot read from dev/random
    Solution
Change the setup for your application, so you add the next parameter to the java command:
    -Djava.security.egd=file:/dev/../dev/urandom
We made this change in our java.security file and it has gotten rid of the error.

  • DCIteratorBinding reset when using go link

When I use a go link to step to another page in my application the DCIteratorBinding on the new page is always reset (I think the query is always automatically executed).
This does not happen when using a control flow case.
It's a very basic item, so I hope somebody can help.

A go link is not really designed for use within an application. It's supposed to be used for external URLs. So if you use a go link to jump to a page in your app it's the same as the user clearing the URL and starting again with that new URL which, most likely will essentially start a new session. So it's no surprise that everything refreshes.
So why use a go link, just use a control flow case and a commandLink.

  • My ipod resets when listening to music

my new ipod has started to give me problems. while im listnening to music my ipod will stop playing music and a black screen will show with a spining wheel in the center then it resets and goes to the home screen. when i try to open my music again it does the same thing. to fix it i turn it off and on again or conect it to the computer but the problem comes back again. i have never dropped my ipod or damaged it in any way.. i belive its the operating sistems problem but if anyone know the aswer to my problem please help

It depends on how your iPod is set up to sync music from your iTunes library whether that be automatically or manually.  If it's automatically, simply remove the tick mark next to "Sync Music" from under the iPod's music configuration pane in iTunes.
To access this pane, plug your iPod in and when it appears in iTunes, click on its name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the iPod's Summary pane.  Now locate the Music pane along the top.  Remove the tick mark next to Sync Music and hit Apply.  This will remove all content from the iPod.  When it has finished, re-select the Sync Music option and again hit Apply to re-sync all your music back over to your iPod from iTunes.

  • IPod resets when selecting playlists.

I recently updated to the 1.1 version of the iPod nano 6th gen. Everything was fine before the update, but afterwards, when I tried to access my playlists, the iPod just reset. Now every time I try to go select a playlist the iPod resets after I hit the playlist icon. What do I do?

That is strange. Have you tried resetting?
Hold down the volume down and the sleep/wake button till the screen goes dark. See what happens after that.
The only other thing would be to connect it to your computer then hold down the volume up, down and sleep/wake button till iTunes tells you it is going to restore it.
    let us know what happens
Also, how many playlists have you sync'd with the nano?
What kinds of playlists are in that mix?
If there are smart playlists, what are the criteria you have set in them?

  • Ipod video needs to be reset when using shuffle songs.

I like to shuffle my 4800 plus songs on my new ipod, but I have noticed that after turning it off for an extended period of time usually a couple hours or over night, it needs to be reset. I have not tried to retore it as of yet, but I plan on to see if that helps. Has anyone else experienced this?
    Ipod video 5.5   Windows XP

restore did not work, guess I'll just have to live with it until apple does a firmware upgrade.

  • 5G iPod resetting when in iPod HiFi

    Hi,
my 5G iPod (60G) works just fine, only when plugged into the HiFi, it is resetting in the middle of playlists or podcasts. It not always the same song or podcast, next time same title may do allright.
It occurs with Large Cover Art Active and Deactivated.
    Any ideas??
    Thank you
    Tomm

Every time I put my 3G iPod in its dock it makes the beeps that you're talking about. Recently, I bought one of the universal docks so I could have one at home and at work. This dock is quiet when I put the iPod on it. So the beeps you hear sound normal to me, I'm just not sure why you would hear it only sometimes. If your 5G fits fine I would just say use it.

  • My ipod resets when a certain song plays and it won't update some videos

There is one song that no matter what when it plays it resets my ipod, black screen with the silver logo then main menu after like 30 seconds.
And I have a tv show on my iTunes but even though it shows its on my ipod I can't find it on there.
So is there a way to liek wipe my ipod clean reformat it and reupdate, and if so would that even fix my problems?
13" White MacBook/ HP a450n Windows XP   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2.0 GHz, 1GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, Superdrive/ 30 GB Black iPod Video

That song would appear to be corrupt. You should delete it from the iPod and transfer it back again.
If that doesn't work, try deleting it form iTunes then re importing it.
"even though it shows its on my ipod I can't find it on there."
    Huh?
You can wipe your iPod by restoring it.
See this: Restoring the 5th generation iPod (iPod with video).
That will also reinstall the software, but whether it will cure the issue no one can say.

  • I have an ipod that i changed my ID on it and my computer had some issues so I reset it and not my ipod reset when I updated the software and I cant find my purchases of movies and music please help

I changed my email awhile back and have been using it fine until the other day i had to wipe my computer clean and when I downloaded the Itunes and pluged in my ipod I lost all my purchased items. where can i find them and get them back

They would only be where you put them.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If or some reason you failed to do the basics and maintain a backup, then you can redownload purchased music in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
You only get one download of movies.  It is your responsibility to backup your purchases.

  • Nike+ iPod resets when selecting "Basic" workout; no other runs available

This is frustrating. I've reset my nano 3g to factory defaults several times, restoring everything from scratch. I don't use nested playlists and I've freed up more than 900MB. I'm running v1.1.3 and it still seems to exhibit this exact behavior after just a few runs:
The iPod will reset whenever I select a "Basic" workout. Afterwards, very few, if any choices will show up under the other workouts (calories, distance, etc). If I try Basic again, it resets again and then NO options show up under any workouts, making it impossible to use the Nike + kit!
I've tried restoring the iPod multiple times and this issue has been ongoing since March of 2008 - a full year.
Any ideas? I do have about 25 playlists, even though none are nested. Is this a quantity of playlists issue and maybe the root folder in the nesting is counted as an additional playlist.
Please help if you have any ideas or solutions! FYI, this problem started back in the original version of the firmware and has occured even after a restore in every version since.

Ok. Here's an update. I actually returned my old nano to Apple, while it was still under warranty, and was able to get a new one. Brand spankin' new...Plug in the nike+, the runs show up. Perform and reset, and the runs are gone again! Same problem!!!
