IPod resetting automatically when loading album artwork

I purchased a 120GB iPod Classic this last Christmas, and with one month of usage I'm getting loads of trouble.
I've been recently syncing some songs, I have about 25GB of music, but from about two weeks my iPod is behaving erratically. I can't play more than five songs without my iPod suddenly resetting itself, displaying a horrible apple with only four colors at startup. I noticed this happens most when the disk is loading a new song, and the artwork is still displayed as a grey musical note. Somehow the disk fails loading, I hear a strange click and the iPod resets. Sometimes this happens at the middle of a song for some strange reason.
Has anyone got this problem? I figured it's a software or firmware failure since I've seen other posts explaining similar situations (songs skipping by itself, happened to me earlier as well)...
I can't play five songs without this happening... this is very annoying.
How can I solve this? Does anyone know?
Thanks

I think I found it!
I guess the album art database on my iPod was scrambled. I unchecked the 'Display Album Art on my iPod' option on iTunes (under Music) when syncing my iPod, and I noticed the orange section of the capacity bar displayed below was suddenly gone. I ejected and began using my iPod, and now I'm on the second hour of flawless playback and no skipping at all.
Later I'll try re-enabling the option, to see if iTunes can rebuild the album artwork database and see if that does it.

  • Ipod in the phone is unable to load album artworks

ipod in the phone is unable to load album artworks, and when songs or videos with album artworks or thumbnails selected, it automatically returns to home screen. can it be fixed?

You are not addressing Apple here. If you have a problem, describe it and someone might be able to help. Just to be sure, the wi-fi on the phone will go off after the phone goes into sleep mode unless it is actively being used. This is a battery saving measure. If you are actively using the internet, and the phone is still awake, then the wi-fi should remain connected.

  • Loading album artwork on ipod

i loaded my cd's on my ipod classic. i turned on the find artwork function a little late. the new albums i load have the artwork. how to i get the artwork for the albums and songs i already loaded on my ipod. anyone know how to do this.
    thanks

There are various methods of adding artwork to your songs and albums.
If you have an iTunes store account, you can use the "get album artwork" option in iTunes. You don't actually need to purchase anything from the iTunes store, just to have or create an account. Provided that the album or song for which you are looking to add artwork is available for sale in the store, iTunes will find it and add it to your library.
If you go to preferences/general in iTunes and check the box marked "automatically download missing album artwork", it will automatically add the artwork when you import a CD into iTunes.
You must have the album or song tagged in your iTunes library correctly or it may not be found. For instance, even a missing "The" before the artists name can throw up anomalies. iTunes will check each song in your iTunes library and attempt to match it up with a song in the iTunes Store. If the data matches, iTunes will download the album artwork from the iTunes Store and add it to the song in your iTunes library.
If you don't have an account or don't want to create one, here are a couple of other methods.
Highlight a song or album in iTunes, then right click on it and select the "get album artwork" option.

Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.

Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".

When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.

Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.

In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste there a widget called Album Art Widget.
You can set this to find art from Amazon, Google and elsewhere, automatically add artwork to songs, rate songs, and a bunch of other stuff.
One of the coolest widgets around.
Once you've added the artwork in iTunes, sync your iPod to reflect the changes.

I'm having the same problem as the OP, I can't find that file "profiles.ini"
can't re-install firefox, deleted all files related to Mozilla and Firefox, still locked out by missing Firefox profile
I posted on my own problem recently w/ no response (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/search?a=1&asked_by=GPStyne&w=2),
so far all posts on this support page have been confusing and I've been unable to find any of the things they spoke of trying to change it.
at this point I'm begrudgingly running Safari hoping someone can help me fix this, can't believe i can't just delete all and reinstall like a normal program/app

  • IPod 5G, iTunes 10.4, Album artwork, Vista

    Hello there,
I own an iPod5G (60G), connect to a Vista PC (yes, I know) through iTunes 10.4. I tried to add albums artwork to show on the iPod, to no result.
Practically speaking, I have successfullyf added the artwork to the tags (through TagScanner), the artwork can be seen under iTune, but will not load to the iPod. I tried to locate the option "Display Album Artwork on this iPod" (or similar) on the Music tab of the iTunes window showing my ipod's option... there is no such option! When trying the same while connecting the ipd on my wife's Mac, iTunes shows the option (and by the way it is checked).
So... is there such a difference between iTunes under Vista and on a Mac ?
Is there a way to solve this issue (showing the album artwork on this iPod ?
Thanks in advance for your help. Thanks in advance for not helping through suggestions such as "switch to a Mac, migrate the library to your wife's Mac, are you sure you have artwork in the tags".
    Gilbert

    All,
OK, it works. I am not sure what made it work, may be going once through a iTunes Mac interface (or maybe I was doing something else wrong, or even maybe it worked all along but I did not notice).

  • Freezing when downloading Album Artwork

When i try to "Get album artwork" for CDs iTunes freezes. I have never had this problem before.

Thanks for the reply, I will try that, although the artwork for this album has loaded on a previous session and has synced to my ipod with no problems. All the songs on the album play fine on both itunes and my ipod! Also, if I have itunes on grid view, with all the album artwork displayed, as soon as you scroll down and this album is displayed, the same system crash occurs, even though if you are in list view the album plays, no problems. Also, if it helps, the album was ripped from an official CD, not a copy or download. The artwork is even still on my ipod, even though I have deleted the image from itunes! Weird!

  • IPod Photo won't display album artwork for purchased songs

I bought some songs on the ITunes Music Store, and I can see the album artwork on the ITunes, I can also see in my IPod the artwork for most of the songs that I've downloaded, but I CAN'T see the artwork for those recently purchased.
I also noticed that when I purchased songs I had a duplicated file for each one of them, stored in \iTunes\iTunes Music\ and \My Downloads\ respectively, so I deleted the copies from \My Downloads\
Bottom line is, I can see all the album artwork in my iTunes, but my iPod Photo won't display some of it (specifically, the songs that I purchased)

Probably, the easiest way to resolve this is to copy the artwork from one song on an album and paste it into every song on that album.
In your iTunes Library, choose an album that has artwork issues; choose one track that has the artwork and copy it. Then:
the slightly longer method is to check each song individually, until you find the one with the missing artwork. Paste (the copy previously made) from one of the other tracks on the album.
a slightly quicker method is to highlight all the songs on that album (make sure it is just that one album) and paste the artwork into the box.
Sync the iPod with your iTunes Library.

  • 160gb ipod classic won't display album artwork...sometimes

I have a 160GB iPod Classic (version 2.0.4 PC), and ran into a strange problem regarding displaying album artwork. Here's what I can describe:
--> When browsing through albums, any albums that have been added to my iPod or had their info changed since a certain time (not sure of the exact date but I believe it to be July 2013) do not display artwork.
--> If these albums are played, one song from the album will not display artwork, but all the rest will. I can't detect any set pattern as to which song won't display artwork once I update it, but I'm sure there's some pattern.
--> All the album artwork is displayed on Cover Flow and on iTunes, but not in these places.
--> It doesn't matter whether I downloaded the artwork directly through iTunes (i.e. clicked "Get Album Artwork") or put in artwork from a file on my computer, this happens literally every single time.

  • Why did my iPod  reset itself when I was trying to watch a video?

    Hi Everyone,
I was watching a video on my ipod and I got halfway through the video and the Ipod reset itself. My iPod is okay after it reset itself. I was wondering has this happened to anyone else and what can I do to fix it?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    lizabler

    Hey lizabler!
I personally haven't experiened this specific thing myself, by I have certainly read issues like your quite a few times on the Discussions.
When your iPod resets itself in this kind of case, this happens usually because, while you're playing a video on your iPod, it's not being able to continuouly load and play that video fast enough to actually play the video at a normal speed.
This can be caused by the iPod's battery.
How charged/discharged was your iPod around the time when your iPod reset itself? Try letting your iPod's battery fully die, then let it recharge for a full 3 hours, and see if this ever happens again.
Also, if this ever happens again, have you tried resetting your iPod several times? (holding the "Menu" and middle buttons together for 10 seconds)
Sometimes your iPod resetting itself can also be caused by your iPod's memory being highly used. For example, if you have a 60 GB iPod, and you've used up 54 GB of it already, this can sometimes somehow bog up the iPod, causing it to act strangely.
If this iPod-resetting-itself behavior recurrs, and resetting the iPod several times doesn't help, try restoring your iPod to factory settings -> How to restore your iPod
I hope that info helps you.

  • ITunes 8: When downloading album artwork for making thumbnails, it quits?

I just installed iTunes 8, and I tried opening it. It then starts to download the album artwork thumbnails, then all of a sudden a message shows saying,
"iTunes has stopped working, Windows is trying to blablabla.."
Then it forces you to closes the program. I tried pressing cancel before the message pops-up, but when I try to scroll down, it forces me to quit. Any fixes?

If iTunes 8.0 is crashing or freezing while creating artwork thumbnails, you may have a file containing corrupt artwork in your library. The steps to identify that file are somewhat complex and will involve moving and deleting some files, so only attempt them if you are pretty comfortable with performing those tasks.
When you first open iTunes 8, iTunes scans through your album artwork to build a thumbnail cache. You can disable this scan by opening iTunes in Safe Mode.
To open iTunes in Safe Mode:
Mac: Hold down the Command and Option keys while opening iTunes
Windows: Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys while opening iTunes
If you open iTunes in Safe Mode, iTunes will only cache artwork from the album covers that are visible in the iTunes window. So you can view your library in grid view, and scroll down one row at a time. You will see iTunes generating the thumbnails for each of your albums as you scroll down. This may allow you to see which album is being processed by iTunes when the application crashes or hangs. Once you have an idea which files are causing the issue, locate the folder containing the files themselves in Finder or Windows Explorer, create a zip archive of the album, and delete the files themselves:
To create a Zip archive of the album
Mac: Right-click the folder in Finder that contains the album tracks and choose Compress <folder name>
Windows: Right-click the folder in Windows Explorer that contains the album tracks and choose Send to Compressed Zipped folder
After you have created a zip archive backup of the affected files, and deleted the originals, open iTunes normally (not in safe mode). Scroll back down to where you were when the crash occurred. If you got the right files, iTunes should just skip over that album and keep rendering thumbnails without crashing or hanging. If iTunes hangs or crashes right after the album that you thought was causing the issue, it may have actually been that next album, so repeat the zip and delete steps until you have found the problematic album.
If you identify the album that contains the file that causes the problem, we would be interested in getting a copy of the files to try to analyze the issue further. Please email me <[email protected]> and I will tell you how to send in the affected files for analysis.

  • My Ipod resets/restarts when I skip songs, help

I don't know if you guys had the same problem. But when I skip some amount of songs, the Ipod resets itself showing the 'Apple' logo and takes me back to the menu.
Do any of you have the problem? Apple staff, is there an Apple updater to fix this?

    Alan,
This is most likely a software issue on your ipod. If you restore it, it would eliminate the software issue on the ipod, and barring that, your ipod would have to be sent in to be repaired/replaced, because it would be a hardware issue.
Also, over the next little while, there should be a new version of the software out for the nano / video ipod... so keep your eyes out for that.
    Have a good one,
    Matt
