Ipod restarts when trying to edit photos

when i go to edit a photo my ipod restarts itself

Many users notice this bug -- it happens when trying to edit a screenshot taken on the iPod. It seems to only apply to the iPod touch, as it works on iPhone or iPad. This bug has been reported.
If that is the case, the user should submit another bug report for it again via this link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodtouch.html

  • IPhoto goes black when trying to edit photos - help!

iPhoto has suddenly decided to go black screen (where the image should be) dark when trying to edit photos.  Permissions are fine (read & edit) so that's not the issue (has been offered on mac forums as a solution to this problem in the past).  I am on a MacBook pro 2.53 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB, running OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53).
Any help is greatly appreciated in advance.
    Thanks!

There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    If none of these help:
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Black Screen When Trying to Edit Photos

I have the same problem as many others: When trying to Edit a photo, double clicking it creates a normal enlarged screen but this screen is all black. The problem has been raised by many for some time but no solutions have been identified. Should I be surprised that Apple has not yet addressed or even recognize the problem?

what does it mean to right con it?
Sorry - right "click" - fat fingers here
when i try to view photos on full screen, i now get a black screen with a white exclamation point. i view these pictures earlier this year with no problem. please help!
That indicates that iPhoto has lost the connection between the thumbnail and the full photo - if you have not been messing around inside the iPhoto library (you NEVER should do this) then backup and rebuild your library - depress the command and options keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your library form the last automatic database backup - if that does not fix it use the other options - as a last resort use iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to rebuild your library

  • I photo quits when trying to edit photo

Since the latest security update i photo will not let me edit photos, so I updated to 6.0.5 and repair permission, problem persist. Any ideas??

How does this problem present itself? Do you get a ! or ? when you click to edit?
The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents. The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder. Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that doesn't describe your problem, post back.

  • IPod restarts when trying to play certain songs

My ipod has been acting crazy on and off now for a long time. Usually if I let it die and sit a day before recharging it it works again, but now I am having a new problem. When I play some songs my ipod just restarts itself, and I mean restarts. The Apple logo comes up and it starts over like I had never had it on. I still have all my music and all, but it like coming out of hibernation.
I guess best put, my ipod restarts after certain songs.

  • IPod restarts when trying to listen to a podcast

I have been downloading the "This American Life" podcasts each week. It seems that each week when I download the latest episode, when I go to listen to it on the iPod as soon as I select it my iPod restarts. After removing and adding it back numerous times sometimes I am able to get it to play, but not always.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way around it?

This is a known bug, Apple's working on it. For now, there are a couple workarounds. You can turn off the EQ on your iPod, start the podcast in itunes for a second or two, and then pause it and sync your iPod, or you can convert the podcast to a different file format (the hardest option). One of these should work for you.

  • IPod restarts when trying to play Vortex

I recently bought the game Vortex for my 5G iPod. I installed iTunes 7 and updated the firmware 1.2. I played the games about 5 times. Now when I go to play the game it starts up then about 5 seconds later it either freezes completely or restarts the iPod. Any suggestions. I'm hoping not to restore because I need my muusic at work and don't feel like putting all the songs back on it.

Figured it out. Resynced without games on then synced with them on. Seems to be working fine.

  • Freezing when trying to edit photo page

I am a longtime user of iWeb and have never had an issue. However today, in trying to update my web page, it began to freeze
I can edit every page except a photo page. The moment that I toggle to that page, it hangs up and I need to force quit.
I have already deleted the "plist" files and emptied the cache and rebooted. This did not affect the situation. In this situation, my ultimate goal is to delete the page, as I am a teacher and the new year is upon us.
Any advice for the deletion of that page would be greatly appreciated.
    nick

From the iWeb File menu select New Site: Shift - command - N
Choose a template and a blank page and then click the "Choose" button
A new site named "Site" is created along with a blank page.
In the left column of iWeb, drag the Photo page down to "Site".
Select "Site" and press your delete button.
"Site" is deleted along with the Photo page.
The original site is left intact minus the Photo page.

  • IPod restarts when trying to play a specific podcast

Just recently, when I try to play the ESPN Fantasy Focus podcast my iPod will reset. I have seen other posts on here talking about a problem with a specific version of the iPod software but they all seem to refer to version 1.2 and I have 1.3 installed.

My ipod is doing the same thing.  It's an older iPod Video, 30gb and it's updated to version 1.3.  Just recently started happening where any podcast I play resets my ipod.  I've restored, hard reset, and done all the other various work arounds that i've found online, and nothing is helping.

  • IPhoto application closing when trying to edit photos

I've worked with iPhoto for a year and have never had this problem. When I attempt to open up a photograph and edit it, the application shuts down. It happens with every editing tool: crop, rotate, adjust etc. The photographs came from a flash drive, but I edited about half of them and had no problems. I have already attempted to fix any problems by repairing my hard drive under "Disk Utility".

    Start with the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    2. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • After iPhoto update some photos go black when trying to edit them and am unable to edit those photos

After iPhoto update some photos go black when trying to edit them and am unable to edit those photos. How do I fix this as this is the latest update?

If I hold down the Option key while launching iPhoto, I get the option to start a new library. Do I have to import all my thousands of photos into the new library?
In his original post the poster referenced the following. As to the new Library, see the end.
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. *Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. *Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

  • When trying to edit a photo, it disappears (black screen) or screen is full of lines. Is this a bug with the latest software update?

After updating with the latest software, when trying to edit a photo, it disappears (black screen) or screen is full of lines. Just got new iphone 4s. Trying to edit photo but screen is black and with "constraint" bar at the bottom.  I am unable to clear the black screen or get back to photo gallery.  Help!

    - Exactly what are you doing? You saying you are trying to syn it to new comnputer. When yuo sync it to a new computer iTunes will erase the iPod and replace its contents with what is i the iTunes library of the new computer.

  • Firefox does not respond when trying to upload photos or files to Facebook, Google+, or similar sites.

When trying to upload photos to various websites, Firefox brings up the pop up to view and select locations on your computer, but it never fully loads, it just kinda freezes, never allowing you to select files. I eventually get a 'This program is not responding' message and have to force close.

    Second times a charm!!!
Maybe the link I had 1st time had a bug or something... I had installed it, restarted computer and all, exactly same process... and it had done nothing.
But download page wasn't the same. Real weird.
Good thing is, now it works!
So to anyone who has had same problem, tried the "patch download" solution and didn't have any success (like me previously - which is why I posted)... TRY AGAIN! The link above works!
    Thanks
