Ipod's music disappeared after reset

My music on my ipod vanished after I reset it. I do not know if this is connected to a past file corruption that my ipod had. I restored and scanned the ipod then, and the file corruption was supposedly gone. Today when I reset my ipod, all the music was missing. The ipod was also not plugged into the computer at the time. Please help.

Try this.

However, since the "other" got large I suspect that the songs got corrupted and are unrecoverable.
What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
Also try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

i upgraded iTunes to 10.5.1 and all my music disappeared after syncing.  How do I get it back?

I lost all my music, too - except for 3 pieces!? And I just upgraded, didn't choose sync'ing :-(((
Sure would like to get back my music, videos and playlists!
Most of it was my personal compositions/recordings, not bought at the iTunes store.

  • Music disappeared after i ran itunes match

almost half of my music disappeared from my desktop folders after I ran iTunes match. Now iTunes can't find the files to play them. What happened? and most importantly, Why? I've had a lot of this music for over 6 years

I have the same problem. And it feels like it is getting worse. I do not understand what is going on.

  • My ipod deleted all files after resetting

it did that, so i went back to connect it to the computer to get the music back on it. And, so i went to turn it back on and now it wont turn on. Could this be because my battery is dead and i need to send it in to get a new one since i have had it almost a year?

i believe you're supposed to let the battery recharge after resetting it. i'm not positive but try it anyway, it can't hurt.

  • Music disappeared after using Syncios

Some tracks in the default Music app disappeared after using Syncios (http://www.syncios.com/) with my iPhone.
    What I did:
I opened Syncios 4.1.1 with the iPhone 5 connected. Per the recommendation, I did not use iTunes at the same time.
    Details:
    Syncios 4.1.1
    iPhone 5
    iOS 8.0.2
    Windows 7
Could someone please advise on how to recover the disappeared tracks and how to prevent this issue in the future?
I've also contacted Syncios support but in the meantime am wondering if anyone here can help.
    Thanks!

I also wanted to note that the tracks that disappeared appear to have been downloaded from the cloud. So I can re-download those tracks, but if anyone knows how to prevent this issue in the future, your input would be much appreciated.

  • Wifi and Bluetooth disappeared after reset laptop to Factory settings

After reset my PC to factory settings realized that the wireless and bluetooth were not working. The problem is not with my home network, since all other devices are working great The F12 (wi-fi)  hot key is orange and does not turn on. When button is hit just changes to airplane mode on/off. There are no option of wireless devices or icons or whatever to access this. Wireless and bluetooth just disapeared. At the device manager, the only driver found in Device Manager\Network Adapters is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. Nothing about wireless. Everything is gone. Accessed the HP support and installed several different network drivers, but nothing happens. Tried to do another factory reset, problem persisted. Exactly same occuring to Bluetooth. They always worked fine, till the factory reset. Don't now what else to do, some say that may be a hardware malfunction, but I think it is weird, always worked great and it changed immediatly after the factory reset. In my opinion seems more like a software than a hardware issue, caused by the reset. Could anyone give a help with that? Tks a lot

Hi , Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY TouchSmart 15 Notebook and Wifi problems. Here is a link to the troubleshooting the Wireless connection. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system it has built in Wireless troubleshooting assistance. It will show you how to make sure the Wireless is on. Here is a document on Airplane mode. If Airplane mode is on you cannot use your WiFi or Bluetooth, so Airplane mode should off and no Ethernet cable connected for the Wireless troubleshooting. I hope this helps you connect. Thanks.

  • ANSWER: music disappearing after sleep or reset

I can't find the original posts regarding this issue, so I'm just going to post the answer. A guy on iPod Lounge came up with the solution, and I was able to recreate the problem.
So the issue is the iPod waking up from a 'deep sleep' or after being reset (when the Apple logo comes up on startup). Sometimes the music doesn't appear to be there. You can connect the iPod back to iTunes and it's fine.
The problem arises if the iPod sleeps or is reset from the photo menu AND you are running the latest iPod software (update from end of June 2005). This is easily recreateable (go to the photo menu and press the Menu and Select button to restart), and appears to be software related. So thankfully it's not bum hardware.
You CAN avoid this problem by just making sure that after you gaze at your photos, you back out of the photo menu. Hopefully Apple will fix this soon.
Hope this is helpful to anyone else who's been banging their heads against a wall on this one.

    Jen
What you say is useful, thanks. I too am a member of the "lost music tribe". But the problem also occurs when the ipod is put to bed by holding down the pause button from the music menu, whether photos have been viewed or not.
Your trick did not recreate the problem on my 60GB photo by the way.
Any news from Apple on a formal fix to a very frustrating problem.

  • IPod Classic - Music stops after a few seconds

I have an iPod 160Gb. My problem started a few days ago. After listening to a few seconds the music stops (really stops!). I have to 'click' on play again and it runs for a few seconds more and stops once more.
I've already resetted the iPod three times and so far nothing changed.
I've tried listening to different songs, many of them I've uploaded into the iPod a long time ago and I know there were working before.
Thank you for all the suggestions and ideas.
    David

I have the same problem. And, just as daluan clearly wrote, "I've tried listening to different songs, many of them I've uploaded into the iPod a long time ago and I know there were working before". So it's not a matter of partly downloaded tracks.
As far as I've understood, the problem might be the headphone jack. The iPod is designed to pause when the headphones are removed, so any bad connection in the jack will cause this kind of problem. I will now try to clean my jack and the headphone plug, to see if the problem disappears.

  • Music disappears after upgrading to IOS 4.2!!

I upgraded to IOS 4.2 today and, even though iTunes says my music is still in my iPod, my iPod seems to think otherwise. All of my music and videos are gone from my iPod when I open Music or Movies, but when I plug it in to the computer they all show up in iTunes. Don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but I need a fix!!!

    Hello Kiwi913,
There are a couple of different things you can try that have worked for a few others who have ran into this situation after upgrading.
The first is a hard reset of the iPod Touch itself. To do this, press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons together until the Apple logo appears. It might not hurt to try this procedure more than once if no luck the first time.
Otherwise, you may need to hook the iPod back up to iTunes and simply complete a Sync operation. Once it has finished, properly disconnect your iPod and see if your Media is now where it should be.

  • Music disappearing after syncing

Hello after downloading music ( zip file) and syncing from iTunes to my iPhone when I close iTunes the new music on my iPhone disappears.
I noticed new music I wanted from itunes on my iphone shows up in the MORE tab as HP and above that is  Aaron's iphone-- HP is my computer.
I understand home sharing but how do I make the songs ( just 12 songs) add onto my iphone library of music?
    Thanks aaron

    Try:
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My music disappeared after updating to itunes 7.0.2

two users were happily sharing an itunes 6 library on one computer, per instructions on this apple website...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93195
the library file was in users/shared/our itunes/itunes library
then I updated to itunes 7. now neither user has access to the library, and we've lost our music.
I've tried preferences-advanced-itunes music folder location, and I've tried copying the library file to various locations. nothing seems to work. When I launch itunes on either account, I've got a blank itunes library.

    Terence Delvin,
What's your motivation? You reference my previous statement about it being a big problem.
Yet that post has, interestingly, been deleted. But you still know about it. I can only assume that you work for Apple and you deleted it.
To then suggest that it is my personal problem is rather counter-productive. It is no longer my personal problem b/c I no longer and will never use iTunes 7.0.
My motivation? I am trying to warn other people so that they don't have to go through the same hassle. I'm hoping that Apple will own up to the problem and fix it.
If you intend to continue to deny the problem, then don't bother posting anymore. If you have some inside information on why it happens, after you read the referenced blog (which was erased along with my previous post but which I will re-list), then by all means - post that here, and there as well.
    http://www.twistermc.com/blog/2006/09/12/itunes-7-erased-my-ipod
There are far too many experience users there who had it erase their ipod without warning for you to write it off as OE (operator error).
    Regarding your semantics question -
If a plane SOMETIMES crashes, that's a HUGE problem for the people affected. (I'm using this as metaphor and mean no comparision between the two events)
If iTunes SOMETIMES erases the ipod, that's a HUGE problem for the people who have it happen to them.

  • Music disappeared after upgrade to iOS 8.2

When my iPhone 5 (A1429) went through the upgrade to iOS 8.2, it crashed during the process. When restarted it seemed to complete fine - with one caveat: most of my music has disappeared.
I've Googled for previous fixes of the issue, not least after 4.2, such as selecting my phone in iTunes and playing a track from there. It's had no effect. I've restarted my iPhone, and switched iTunes Match off and back on and restarted again - all to no avail.
iTunes will sync with the iPhone, but results in no changes.
In the "Sync music" section, it does give me the option to sync "Entire Music Library" - but it says I can't because I'm over capacity by 15GB.
I'm paying for iTunes Match to keep my music in the cloud, so don't understand what's going on at all.
    Anyone have any advice, please?

It's okay - got this figured out with help from Apple Support - my iPhone had somehow switched off "iTunes Match"! Now solved.

  • 60GB iPod Video menu disappeared after update

I just received my 60GB iPod yesterday. I downloaded the new software update from Apple and updated it. After I did that the Video option on my menu disappeared. I still have the video in itunes but it is not on my ipod anymore.
HELP! New user and this was a main purchase reason. Thanks for any assistance.

I have new ipod video and had issues so I used the updater that was included, dated 6/05, I now have a ipod video with software version 1.2 and it thinks it is an older ipod photo only. Now that it is installed in the ipod the updater assumes it is an older ipod and restore doesn't work (except to restore it to version 1.2) I am so frustrated I could scream. Apparently the new updater 10-05 is ok, as it would have restored to the correct software but now, it's too late! any ideas? What I need is a restore function that puts back in the version 1.0 software for the ipod video, but there is no such thing.
