IPOD's not UPDATING, ITUNES doesn't recognize internet logon

I cannot update my ipod nano 1st gen. 'cause itunes doesn't recognize internet and the ipod updater. Have to say that Itunes store is available and i don't have any antivirus software installed on my mac.
anybody will help me?please...
i've got the 1.2 version for ipod and i couldn't download the 1.3 version.
THANKS

No, first of all i've got a MacBook not with dual core
I suspect an error with the connection type 'cause at work i receive this kind of problem and at home not.
I solved the problem with the ipod updater yesterday, at home i successfully updated it but today i get a new error message while contacting itunes server:
I cannot process the request, an unknown error occurred on itunes server (error type -206)!
Do you know why?may it depend by the Office server?
thanks

  • Tried restoring iPod, never finished, now iTunes doesn't recognize iPod

i tried to restore my iPod, but then my computer froze midway. Now when i try to plug the iPod into my computer, my iTunes doesn't recognize it and whenever i try to use the updater, it just keeps saying 'Ipod Service Error'. Now i can't put my songs into my iPod and the battery icon/'Do Not Disconnect' logo is stuck in this really traditional fashion, not like the normal font/picture. Does anybody know what i can do?

  • Ipod Classic - collection disappeared, ITunes doesn't recognize Ipod

I haven't used my Ipod for a while. Today I wanted to listen to some music and switched on my jbl-station with the IPOD. Instead of Cover-Displays I saw the menu in the IPOD disöay. When trying to select music, there was none.
So I switched on my standard PC, where the Ipod has been synchronized often. ITunes started and got hung up.
The system was asking whether the IPOD-drive should be repaired. I clicked the ok-button, but it didn't work. Error messages without end.
On the Ipod itself it said "Connected". The Explorer itself has recognized the IPOD and I could see the usual folders.
Checking the Used Space via File system -> shows that the songs must still be on the IPOD.
On the apple site I found a hint to reset the Ipod - which I did. But it didn't help.
Now I got ITunes started again it didn't hang up again, but it does not show the Ipod, so I have noch chance of Checking, Update, .......
    I ran the diagnostics:
Zuletzt angeschlossene, jetzt nicht verbundene Geräte:      -> formerly attached devices -> which is exactly said IPod

Kein iPhone, iPod touch oder iPad gefunden               -> no IPOD found
I tried my second PC with ITunes, same result.
Any idea what I can do?

  • After a recent itunes version update, itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad?

after a recent itunes software update, itunes does not recognize my iphone 5 or ipad

    Hey there Laughlkw,
It sounds lik eyou iPhone and iPad are not showing in the iTunes sidebar after a recent update. A number of issues could cause this type of behaviour, and would recommend starting with the troubleshooting from the article named:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
If the issue is not resolved, I would next re install iTunes with the following article:

  • IPod will not update iTunes

My 40g iPod has lost the ability to update from iTunes. iTunes recognizes that the pod is connected but it just freezes on "updating songs". To make matters worse, the entire computer freezes when I eject the iPod.
So far, I've been unable to find a solution to this problem. I do have the most current iPod update and the newest iTunes version.

I wish I had an answer for you, but what I do have is the same problem! Suddenly, even with the latest iTunes software and iPod updater, I can no longer update from iTunes on my 3rd generation iPod! After that, audio no longer works on my system. If I do a restart, it still doesn't work. The only way to get audio back is to do a cold boot. But then, even after that, the iPod problem remains. I wonder what's going on here.

  • Reformatted iPod on Windows, iTunes doesn't recognize internet connection

    Help!
A friend loaded his songs on my iPod. When I tried to update it on my Windows PC, the Mac prompt 'iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes.' popped up, instead of the Windows prompt 'Your iPod needs to be reformatted for use with Windows. Would you like to run iTunes to restore your iPod now?' (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1441)
So I try to 'Restore' and the prompt I get is 'iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the Internet. Make sure your internet connection is active and try again.'
Thing is, I AM connected to the internet.
So then I accidentally formatted the iPod on Windows Explorer, and now nothing shows up except the image ' Use iTunes to Restore'.
Would any of you be able to save my iPod?
    Thank you!

  • Apple tv (2nd gen) froze; update; itunes doesn't recognize

I started the new update--it seemingly froze...I didn't know what else to do but unplug it (yes to spite warnings) and now it powers up and goes to the home page, but the cursor won't move. I've tried restarting; I tried restoring it to factory settings by going and buying the micro USb cable-- but itunes cant see it. I tried every which way with the restoration, including plugging in order--powering and not powering the Apple tv, and numerous restarts of the computer.

Same problem- though mine was recognized after troubleshooting the same way you did. I have the ATV3 though, so maybe that worked. Where I then ran into issue was updating, as everytime I try to update it via iTunes i get an error and it fails.

  • ITunes doesn't recognize internet connection

    Oh the joys of change...
I recently switched over from dial-up to DSL (just become available in my area), and am utilizing a wireless modem. Safari and Mail communicate fine with the world-wide-web, but neither iTunes nor Software Update seem to be able to [iTunes says "accessing music store" with the spinner-line going for minutes/hours, and SU says "A networking error has occured: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the internet, then try again"].
NOTE: I have this problem both wired and wirelessly. Any help would be much appreciated!!

  • ITunes doesn't recognize iPod since last software update

I updated to iTunes 5.0.1 & iPod 2005-09-23 updater & now when I plug in the iPod w/ USB to my PowerBook G4 running 10.4.2, iTunes doesn't recognize it-- no icon in bottom-right grey area, nor left-hand column-- and the iPod says "Do not disconnect." Which means I'm kinda stuck. Tried restarting, didn't help. Advice? Thanks.

I have the EXACT same problem. Support line suggeste that the iPod updater must have newer software than the iTunes, so I should go to Apple & download the iTunes update. Well, I did, and it didn't do a @#%ing thing to help. I'm NEW to mac & I'm P.O.'ed!!! (paid significantly extra money for iBook compared to Dell, etc since it's supposedly so easy & user-friendly... NOT an impressive start!!!)

  • ITunes doesn't recognize either of my iPods

I downloaded the latest update recently and since then iTunes doesn't recognize either of my two iPod touches (4th gen), even though the computer does. My iPad (1st gen) is still recognized normally. I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it several times, and that didn't work. The iPods are recognized by iTunes on other computers. The computer in question runs windows 8.1, if that makes a difference. From the look of these forums it looks like I'm not the only one who has this problem. Please help.

Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps under Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.

  • Ipod will not update new songs from itunes

My ipod will not update new songs from itunes. I've purchased several songs from the music store, updated my playlists and as added some from my CD collection and they are not transfering from my library to my ipod.
I've tried numerous configurations under the preferences - ipod menue but still can't get them to transfer.
One error I occasionally get is "ipod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the itunes music library"
There is plenty of room on my ipod so I can't figure out why. It almost seems as if it is trying to copy all of my songs not just the new ones because all songs in my librbary are checked.

    Thank you for responding.
Doesn't it have to be on either manual or auto update? What other option is there?
I will try downloading latest updates.
I know it will work if I reset it (have done it a few times already). I just hate having to restore factory settings everytime I want to put a new song onthe ipod.

  • ITunes doesn't recognize IPod Nano 7th Generation

ITunes doesn't recognize my IPod Nano 7th Generation. I get a message saying "An IPod has been detected but could not be identified properly". My Windows 7 computer shows the IPod Nano as a removable drive until I launch ITunes at which point it disappears from the list of removable drives. I even disabled my security software (Norton 360 but not Spybot S & D) and it didn't solve the problem. Any suggestions..............Thanks
