Ipod/Safari/video crashing on fresh restored Iphone.

Hey, recently i restored my phone, and updated it too the latest software through itunes, that wasnt a problem. the problem comes now aftwer buying a majorty of my library through the store, i am getting constant crashes in ipod mode which is sending me insane.
I can play 1 song then it will crash at the end, can only play 20 seconds of video, then that crashes, if i touch the navigation slider at the top it causes insticrash. i tried looking for a solution on safari then it crashed too.
This is on a fresh restore with no other apps on it except for the weather & other junk that it starts with. there is no jailbreaking, it has never been jailbroken.
most of my library was purchased through the store on the phone so i do not believe at all it has to do with windows/iphone issues.
i have restarted, synced it in dfu mode for giggles and tried to reset any settings i could. so then i restored it again, and it still happens.
driving me insane, any other ideas before i fix it with a bigger hammer.

Instead of a hammer, I suggest a Hummer - gives a satisfying crunch without the risk of flying shards
If you've restored as a new iPhone, without a backup, and this is recurring, there must be a hardware issue. If it's still under warranty, take it to Apple or whoever provides warranty service in your area. If out of warranty, there are 3rd party iPhone repair centers which could be less expensive. Google will help find them.

I'm using ipad 2 4.3.3 and the apple's app like mail, ipod safari keep crashing? extremely annoying? any solutions?

Press the off and home button together for about ten secondsuntil the apple reappears. Ignore the slider. This will not affect any of your data. It is just like rebooting your computer

  • New Ipod (with video) crashes my Windows PC

I have just bought the new Ipod and have to say I am generally very impressed. However, whenever I connect it to my PC (Dual core AMD64 with 2GB RAM) after about 10 mins of streaming music, video, or data transfer my machine either freezes or reboots itself. This is the first time a usb device has done this to my pc and I use a few. Therefore I strongly doubt that it is something wrong with my pc. Does anyone else experience something similar? Anyone found a way to stop it? Do Apple recognise these sorts of problems if they dont affect Apple macines? For example if it doesnt crash a mac, it must be the PC. If anyone can offer me some answers I would appreciate it

How many other USB devices do you heavily use? If you can copy all that to a USB HD (other than the iPod) for 20 minutes and it doesn't hang then perhaps the iPod/itunes combo has a problem. If its a bug in the firmware as you suggest, then many more people would be having the issue. Also just try copying data to the ipod as if it were a HD and see if it hangs, that mostly removes the iTunes portion of the equation.
New devices can sometimes bring to light driver and other issues that weren't there before. For example: On my iMac G5, I had just connected up a new Firewire Pioneer dvd burner and I was burning coasters left and right and locking things up. It wasn't until I noticed that having the iSight on the same bus caused the crash. Granted, it shouldn't do this period, but it showed that a combination of circumstances caused my issue.

  • Ipod safari crashes

I have an ipod touch, but my safari always crashes upon opening, can anyone help please.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Safari and Clear Cookies, Data and History
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • 4G iPod Touch - All Apps crashing after multiple restores overtime

I don't know what to do anymore - I don't even care that my 32 GB iPod touch works like an old school mini iPod anymore. I just want my music and kindle apps to work. Just two apps. Everything is always crashing. Forget about browsing any information on Safari or using any kind of social media app. I can't even do Google Maps - ha! Basically, I've restored multiple times over the last couple of months now. I have researched high and low and don't know what to do anymore.
For one, this is annoying because not only do I have to back up my photos, I have to put all my music back on again and the information in some apps does not transfer. A fresh restore is not fun. Restoring from backup doesn't seem to help either.
And yes, I am on iOS6 and I strongly believe it has to do with this. Ever since this update all has let loose. And the touch users got shafted.
Do any of you deal with this?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (not from backup) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

    Hi purpleoz,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that Safari on your iPhone is not functioning as you would expect. In this situation, there are a few different steps I would recommend.
First, I would recommend clearing your history and website data as described in the attached article.
Safari web settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
After the data has been cleared, I would recommend closing Safari completely as described in the next attached article.
Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
After Safari has been closed, reset your iPhone again. After the reset, open Safari fresh and use it as you normally would. If the issue continues, please let me know.
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Best regards,
    Joe

The Update would not have Installed if it was not suitable for your Device.

  • My iPod Touch 4G facetime with my specific iPhone 4 only works when I restore from an Apple Store...my PC (XP) iTune Restore will not let my iPod facetime (10 seconds connecting then hangs up)...all other device like my iPads can connect to my iPod...

So, I have an iPhone4 iOS 4.3.2 restored from Apple Store iTunes. I also have an iPod Touch 4G iOS 4.3.2. These two devices can facetime other Apple products, but not each other.
So when I discovered this, I restored both at the Apple Store iTunes and they worked for the first time!! The Genius Bar guys told me to just set my iPod as New Device to my PC then manual sync it. I deleted all my iPod backup from this one since they are all from fresh restore.
I did as directed. iPod does not want to connect facetime to my iPhone. I tried uninstall and reinstall my iTunes to the newest version. Still not working after a full restore. My PC is XP Service Pack 2 with Japanese setting. I wonder if my PC iTunes has to do with anything or my iTunes account...

    This is the iPhone forum
That said... PhotoStream is a stream of photos. The contents of the PhotoStream are not part of the backup. PhotoStream will hold the last 30 days of photos on-line. After 30 days, the photos are deleted from the servers. If they have already been downloaded from the cloud and appear on a device, they will remain there. However... if the device is wiped, restored, etc. or PhotoStream on the device is turned off then back on, ONLY the photos still resident in the cloud will download.
If the photos were over 30 days old, they are no longer in the cloud. If you didn't have them backed up elsewhere, they are gone.

  • Hard drive crash - How to restore data from my iPod?

    Hi there,
I had to replace the hard disk and in my daughter's PC and now need to get the songs back from her iTouch to her computer. As you can imagine, I had no backup prior to this hard drive crash... Now how can I get the songs and applications from the iTouch back in the PC? I have authorized iTunes using the same account but it does not allow me to do any tranfer from the Itouch to the PC.
Please help... I don;t want to loose everything we have purchase and installed on the iTouch...
    Thanks,
    Christian Dubuc

That post of mine linked to above is quite an old one and isn't meant to specifically address an iPod Touch. You might want this more up to date information.
If your iPod is set to sync automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.

Then the next step would be a restore as new to rule out corruption in the backup.

  • Safari continually crashes on 16G iPhone

I can be on wifi or edge, doesn't matter, and safari just crashes continually.

Yeah, avoid flash stuff that a lot of present sites has. Safari is not capable to open this content.
Back up all your stuff (Contacts, calendars, bookmarks) and try to restore it. This basically rests your iPhone to the original settings. Try Safari and it must run smoothly.
But if nothing of this will do, better run to an Apple Store for technical support, they have to resolve this, because Safari normally runs well.
There are a variety of sites that recognize when you are browsing them from a iPhone and give you their page designed for it.
Until now, there is no other web browser designed for iPhone. But Firefox has announced that they will release, late this year, their browser specially designed for iPhone. Safari works fine for me, but I'm interested in having Firefox on my iPhone.

  • Convert DVD and other video files for playback on  iPhone, iPod, PSP, etc.

So, how are your holidays going? Or, if you're reading this on the weekend, how'd they go? Watching various sorts of DVD movies and videos is a better idea for a pastime during your free time. To make your holiday be more colorful with movies, I prefer to recommend an application to help you guys deal with different kinds of video resources, no matter the DVD files or footages shot by camcorders, or videos in formats of FLV, AVI, MKV, etc., in a word, the converted videos will be supported by whatever portable devices you have, including PSP, iPod Classic, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPhone (3G), iPhone, Zune, Zune 2, Blackberry, Nokia, Creative Zen, Sony Walkman, iRiver PMP, Archos, PS3, Apple TV, Xbox, iPAQ, Pocket PC, Mobile Phone, etc. The software is Pavtube Video DVD Converter Ultimate, which combines DVD ripper and Video Converter together, and enables you to edit and convert any DVD, video, audio and image files to other popular formats including MP4, 3GP, FLV, MPEG-4, AVI, MPG, MOV, 3G2, VOB, FLAC, MKA, OGG, WAV, AC3, M4A with super fast conversion speed and excellent image and sound quality.
The detailed user guide will be shown in the following part:
Step 1: Add video and DVD file
You are allowed to add videos to this program via clicking "Add Video", and add DVD files to it via clicking "Load DVD". DVD files can be loaded in three ways: "Load DVD ROM", "Load DVD Folder", and "Load ISO/IFO".
Step 2: Select output format and set destination folder
Videos and DVD files can be added to this program at the same time, after that, you can click the drop-down list of "Format" to select an output format for your portable devices. The format profile provides you with formats for iPod, iPhone, PSP, PS3, BlackBerry, etc. Meanwhile, you can click the folder icon at the end of "Output" to decide where to save the output files. Moreover, if you want to combine multiple files to be a single file, you can tick "Merge into one file".
    Step 3: Set advanced settings
If you have the needs of adjusting video and audio parameters to make good control of the output file quality and size, you can click "Settings" button to do it, and all the options like codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, audio channel, etc. are changeable on the following window.
    Step 4: Start conversion
As soon as the above steps are finished, you can click "Convert" button to start conversion, the following ripping window will show you clearly about all the conversion info. After finished, you are able to find out the output files via clicking "Open" button.

We're not supposed to talk about DVD conversion according to the terms of service ...
So I'll assume these VOB files are from your HOME MOVIE DVDs you burned yourself and suggest the Videora iPod Classic Video Converter.
    http://www.videora.com/
It's a really nice program that converts not only your HOME MOVIE DVD VOB files, but AVI, MPEG, and others. You can set the CPU usage from high to low with five settings, it has a queue which you can add multiple files to, and it will minimize to the taskbar for compact convenience. There are other Windows programs that do much the same, but I prefer Videora. Oh ... and it's freeware!!
