IPod say's "Do Not Disconnect" but still not recognized. Please help!!
Hi everyone.
Ok here's my situation.
Im using a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5)
iTunes 11.4 (64Bit)
iPod 4th Gen. (White 20GB 'Click-Wheel')
After doing a system restore on my ancient dinosaur ipod 4th gen. (the white 20GB 'Click Wheel') and 'upgrading' to iTunes 11 i've had nothing but problems.
So now when i plug in my ipod it charges fine and even say's "Do Not Disconnect" *BUT* there is no 'on my ipod' button. I cant see my playlists, add songs, delete songs or anything! I just want to 'DOWNGRADE' my itunes and have everything how it was before. I find this to be a science project in itself and no amount of searching youtube videos gave me a clear answer, it only made me more afraid and confused of going forward with this.
I tried downloading 'sharepod' for MacBook Pro but this is pointless because it needs itunes to recognize the ipod for it to recognize the ipod. Ehh.
I did a 'system restore' on the ipod but when i went home where all my music is (on a windows PC) it said i have to do the restore again because it was restored on a MAC. So i did the restore again on my Windows PC (put all my music on it) and now i want to add songs from my MACBOOK Pro and its not even recognizing my ipod. Arrrgh the frustration i tell you!
Im done doing the system restore and i just want to add playlists now. Why is this soo difficult? Someone please help a newbie out. Im great with computers and feel like i honestly should have never upgraded the itunes in the first place because i feel this is what is causing my problem. I've heard the older gen. ipods dont work as well with the newer versions of itunes although im not sure if there is any truth to that or is it just rumors. Either way can somebody please take me on a step by step of what to do next? Please with a cherry on top?
Did you restart the Mac?
Did you reset the iPod using the two button combo?

If the above do not work, try putting the iPod into disk mode, and then connecting it to the Mac.

I plugged IPOD in to sync ( first time in over a year) it auto started with the "Do Not Disconnect", but did not sync. Now the IPOD is stuck in that mode, won't shut off, won't sync, won't work. is there a way to reboot it?
It has already been 6 days from your post, my apology for responding so late, but it is my habit to help only the leftovers, which the other contributors missed.
Toggle the hold switch make sure there is no red showing.
To reboot an iPod. (Or RESET in Apple iPod jargon)
Press Menu and Center button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON , this would not erase any data from your iPod.
I would advice you to leave the iPod charging for about 4 hours, if it has been discharged for 1 year or more, and also Apple recommends that you charge the iPod at least once a month, to prevent a discharged battery leakage, which may corrrode the circuitry in the iPod.
Hopefully you don't get the dreaded RED X on the iPod screen.
Good Luck! -
My messaging app is frozen and I can't text after I tried to spam my friend with a 15,000 character text. I hard closed the app and restarted my phone but still nothing. Please help.
I had the VERY same problem with a iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.0.2. I did a hard reset and a full restore to factory settings and then a restore from a back up- nothing worked. I then read Cal4one's post on turning off the read text function (which I had just turned on days before to try out) and ta-da! all is well! I can now use Messages and when I go to attach a picture, the Photo library comes up quickly (it was not before the chance) and the Message app no longer crashes. Just to be safe, I turned off all reading functions in the Accessibility (settings/general/accessibility/speech) settings.

Ipod says "do not disconnect" but is not recognized by itunes
Okay so, I've connected my ipod to my computer and it's not being recognized. On my nano's screen it says "Do not disconnect" and has the red circle no sign flashing on it. I've updated my version of itunes, restarted my ipod, and have restarted my computer multiple times.
It can't be the USB because quite obviously it's working... it has to either be with my macbook or my ipod.
What's going on here?I am having the same problem and I tried everything to fix it. On top of that problem, my iPod won't turn off, and will only play half of a song and then skip to the next song which is very maddening! Can anyone help?

Not new but still not getting it
I just received a Blavk 30g Ipod video for christmas and I am having problems with Itunes. I installed the software from the package and it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to Itunes 6. I did this with my Mcafee security off and now about 5 minutes into importing music I get the Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. I followed the instructions on the error report by uninstalling quicktime and repairing Itunes but this did not work. What else can I do. I have read other posts but they don't seem to apply as Itunes actually loads and Quicktime seems to work fine.
I tried that and it did not work either. It only seems to shut itself down when I try to import a cd (basically the only thing I have tried) because when I use Quicktime I can watch movie trailers and change all the settings in Itunes. I know all my drives are good because i use them for other things and never have problems.

I updated my mac with os x Lion so that I could accomplish moving my address book from the mac to my new IPad 3G. I also set up an icloud account for this purpose, but I *still* cannot figure out how to move my address book from one computer to the other. When I'm on my mac and try to use bluetooth to export the address book, I'm able to find my ipad but I soon get a message that it does not support the necessary services. I have no idea what's going on and would appreciate any advice. tks in advance, Sarah

The address book syncs via iCloud, not Bluetooth or iTunes.
You upgraded to Lion so you could use iCoud.
On the computer. go to Apple menu > System prefs > iCloud.
Sign into your iCloud account.
Tick everything.
This enalbes the se items syncing to iCloud.
On the iPad, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Create a new iCloud account.
Sign in with the same AppleID as your computer.
Settings > iCloud and turn everything on.
BAM!
That is all you need to do.
Your contacts (and all other checked items checked) will sync between computer and iPad.

Tried all the suggestions but still aint working PLEASE HELP!!
I got my nano in january but it hasnt been turning on for about a month. Its fully charged and sometimes makes a beeping noise when it plugged into the computer. Two icons keep appearing a folder with a ! mark and a black and white battery. Ive tried resetting and updating. However, when I tried to update itunes asks me to plug in my nano when its already plugged in! Its driving me insane so any suggestions would be appreciated or even if theres a customer service helpline because I cant seem to find one.

Since you tried most things and you've been having this problem for a month now, why not take advantage of the warranty and get it fixed?

};VC++ 6 compiler did not give me any error making the BPUSBFinger200.dll.
The problem occured when I run the java program.

I have a sample program that was written in C++ by the manufacturer of the device "Finger Print Scanner", and the source code and all the project files in VC++ 6 was included. It ran very well. So I copied all the dll be it the ones that I needed or not to my lib/ dir, but my java program still didn't run.
It looked to me like I was missing some dll, so I checked with vc++ 6 and located the "external dependencies" part at the file view browser, and found out three header files: "bpusb200finger.h", "jni.h", "jni_md.h" and "basetsd.h". Did that mean anything?
I am sorry because this problem might have been solved by someone already, but I have tried searching the forum and tried the solution proposed by the community but I still can't get my java program works.
Can someone help me? It is very urgent.....
Thanks.
ChrisThanks for the quick response.

Please advice. I am beginner in JNI.

Hello Mohunkrisna,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If you are having issues with the your iPhone not connecting to Wi-Fi networks, the following will provide some assistance. Now you have done most of the troubleshooting, but there are a few more steps to try in the article.

Got error-50, due to no space on crappy tiny memory of the new mac, so had to delete load, so when trying to download video on itunes again, kept saying still error-50, which is false because i downloaded another movie, is there a way to get around this or get my money back!?!?!?
Perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in theSpecific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

Having problems downloading iTunes. After an update notice, I was unable to open iTunes. I de-installed and attempted to reinstall it and it still won't open.
The first error duirn the update was a dll file missing, then a Windows error 7. The screen on the Apple site say Thank you for downloading, but still not there.A msi file is short for microsoft installer. It normally is for installation, removal, and maintenance for a program. So iTunes.msi would be used for the updating of the program. For some reason it isnt finding this so we can't update, install, or remove it.
From what I have seen windows installer cleanup utility solved related problems before.
I found this forum about removing and installing a new iTunes. It was about someone who was trying to isntall iTunes, and was looking for msi file and asked for help. Using this should allow you to be able to install iTunes. It won't give you the msi file but will allow you to isntall iTunes over again.
This was what was said.
Another option in case you can't get an msi. (Or even if you can ... the msi's mentioned in the messages may be damaged rather than missing.)
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
About 2 weeks ago my iPod told me that something (I forget what now) was corrupt and my iPod had to be restored to factory settings, so I did that. Before I had a chance to resync my iPod, my harddrive in my MacBook Pro crashed and had to be replaced. Now when I try connecting my iPod classic, my iPod says "do not disconnect" but neither my laptop or iTunes is recognizing that my iPod is plugged in. I have tried using another cord, restarting my iPod, restarting my laptop, iTunes is up to date...what else is there that I can do to get my iPod to connect to my laptop?
Thanks in advance!Try a system reset, hold down the off button until it turns of and then back on again, this might not work though if it is properly stuck. If all else fails go to Apple
