IPod Screen damage

No major issue, but.....
My car stereo has an iPod input, and when in use, the iPod displays the logo of the stereo system which I presume, is fed from the stereo. This logo never changes, is always on, and I have yet found a way to switch it off (the unit does charge when connected).
Can this harm the iPod screen over time (eg, burn this image into it permanently like an old style television), or is this not an issue?
Thanks!!

Mine does the same (on all my iPods) when connected to my Kenwood unit.
The iPod has an LCD screen and these do not suffer from screen burn, so it's not an issue.

Have the iPod serviced by Apple for a flat fee or send it into a third party repair company to have them repair it for a little less.  A simple Google search for iPod Touch screen repair should give you a number of results to work with.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • Screen of ipod is damage

If screen of ipod is damage can it be fix? Will the AppleCare Protection Plan cover the damages?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Screen damage is usually an indication of abuse, in which case Apple will not repair the iPod.
However, it is up to Apple as to whether it is abuse or not.

  • 5th Gen 30 GB iPod - screen has lines - menu not visible

Sometimes the menu is visible - sometimes not.  I have never dropped it, the glass is intact.  Just by clicking buttons I can play some music - just don't know what is going to play.  I have had it for many years, and though I have an iPhone and iPad - I still love my iPod for walking, etc.  Any suggestions that might help? (besides a new one).  Can the inner screen be replaced?  I have just reset & restored it to see if that might help - through iTunes.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged/faulty part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

  • My iPod Screen is Messed UP PLz Help

What can i use to remove scratches from my iPods Screen

Yeah, you usually won't get an iPod replaced for screen damage by Apple. Your problem does sound suspiciously like it getting "squashed" by something. Was something else on top of it in the drawer? Anyway, Apple is a business, and they do not want to pay if they don't have to. In your case, you got screwed over because it sounds like a typical screen crack due to negligence, even if it's not.
However, for $105, iPodResQ will replace your screen. There are other third party sites if for some reason you don't want to use them.
    Sorry

  • Lines across iPod screen

Photos downloaded from a Canon EOS 350D display with a thick line across the top and bottom of the iPod screen. This happens at both high and low resolution, and when photos are downloaded from both Photoshop Elements 3 and directly from the camera. Is there any way of fixing this?

Either way it sounds like the LCD screen has been damaged or is wearing out from everday use.  You'll want to have the iPod serviced or replaced either by Apple or a third party repair company.

Philly_Phan,I am curious whay you said "If there is no sign of abuse,", a broken screen is almost always caused by abuse/accidental damage, and that is what the out-of-warranty exchange is for.
A broken screen is an accident but it is not abuse.  However, if the owner attempts a repair him/herself, that's abuse.  Although unrelated to the damage, if the device has been jailbroken, that's also abuse.

So my iPhone screen is completely shattered and it does not respond to touchscreen. I tried unlocking it with the thumb reader, but it did not work. I have since gotten a new iPhone, but I would like to get my pictures off the old iPhone. Any help would be appreciated.
Simply restore from the latest backup you made to iCloud or iTunes, prior to the damage incident. You were backing up to iTunes regularly, or at least using iCloud to backup wireless & automatically... right?
If you cannot make a backup of the damaged device at this point, and you do not have a backup of the data on the device, then you cannot access the data on the device, and it is lost.  What would you have done if instead of simply being damaged, it had been lost or stolen?
This is a harsh lesson.  Now you know why it is recommended to backup regularly.  Learn from your mistake, and don't repeat it.

  • Proper way to clean an iPod screen?

It's not a huge deal, there's just a small smudge on my iPod Nano screen, you can't see it too well unless it's in the sunlight or somewhere bright. Is there an effective way to clean an iPod screen without damaging or scratching it?
    Thanks

It was not like this when new. Definitely not a manufacturing problem. In fact, I just now noticed that there is what looks like a short hair stuck to the monitor screen, but it also will not come off with cleaning solution (or my nail ).
The bright spots look like the clean spots you would get if you didn't clean your kitchen floor and then you clean one small spot. I think the bright spots are where some type of coating came off the screen.
    Resolution is 1440x900.

  • This morning I was unable to switch on ipod -screen dark, no response. All fine yesterday, not dropped etc. Thanks

This morning I was unable to switch on ipod - screen black, no response. I've tried to chharge it but the screen remains black. It was fine when I switched it off last night and it hasn't been damaged in any way. Thanks

Sometimes an iPod dies because of an hardware problem. Not infrequently electrical items just fail by themselfs and not due to user abuse.

  • Ipod screen wont work

My ipod screen won't respond when I try unlocking it. The power button also doesn't work. Would you guys be able to fix it if I bring it in? How much would it cost?

Well, if they did buy the service plan, it would need to be the one with ADH coverage(accidental damage/handling), you'd need them to find out if they did or not.
Going with the assumption that they didn't, Geek Squad can have it shipped out to be fixed, or you can take it to an Apple store. Screen replacements run between $100 and $150, last time I checked.
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.

  • I cracked my iPod screen

I cracked my iPod screen and I bought it on the apple site how can I get it fixed?

If the iPod Touch was insured with AppleCare+ then it is covered for accidental damages. However if you have AppleCare or no insurance on the iPod then Apple does not offer repairs. You can however get the screen replaced by a third party, but this will likely void any insurance or warranty if Apple has reason to believe that a third party was involved. Apple also offers repairs as stated by lllaass. Depending on how long you've had your iPod Touch for you may find it more cost effective to simply buy a new one.
    Apologies for my incorrect statement.
