IPod screen has turned white. Screen is faintly visible and still works, but is almost impossible to see. Tried restore, and Home/Power/Volume reset.

The screen is a very bright white, but buttons are faintly visible. When I do anything with the screen, it creates an "afterimage" that lasts about a minute - e.g. swiping through homepages leaves multiple homepages superimposed over the current one. I've reset several times, and done a full restore. No changes.
I took a screenshot, and it looked completely normal on my PC - problem is with the screen itself.
4th gen iPod with latest software update. 1 year and 1 month old. I have never dropped it, or gotten it wet, or anything that could damage or break the iPod... the screen just changed.

  • My ipod touch has a white screen and I am unable to reset it.  Can anyone help?  I

Hi...  any help would be appreciated.  My iPod Touch has a white screen.  I have tried resetting it following the directions on Apple's site and have not been successful.
    Can anyone help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch has a white screen and it wont turn of

I was playing a gamem and all of a sudden the screen turned white! it wont even turn of. I tryed to put it into Dfu mode and held the top button to it didnt work. so right now i left the ipod on with the white screen and i hope it will run out of battery. So can u please reply to me as soon as posible. Thank you

Problem is I can't restore via iTunes, because when I plug the iPod touch into my laptop, it states it doesn't recognize the device - "USB device not recognized".  iTunes has no device listed for my iPod touch.
It was plugged in all day while I was at work, could that be the problem?
I tried to do it with the DVU method and it didn't work either.

  • My ipod's screen has turned white?!?

    please help

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

    Display shows a white screen
Try putting the iPod into disk mode:
Reset the device (press the Sleep and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the display turns black—about eight seconds).
When the display turns black, hold down the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the device enters Disk mode.
While the device is in disk mode, sync it to iTunes and try to restore.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

Frequently a white screen is due to a hardware problem and service is necessary.  It appears that Apple confirmed the hadware issue.
