Ipod Screen in Dim

My ipod's screen is dark even when the battery is fully charged. I can hardly read the screen which makes it pretty hard to use when working out which is when I use it the most. I have checked the settings on the Ipod many times and I have the Brightness turned up as far as it can go. Changing the brightness has no effect on the screen. I have also tried to restore all the factory settings with no avail. The screen is too dark. The Ipod seems to function correctly otherwise. I do think this may be a problem with the battery because I have noticed that the battery doesn't hold a charge as well as it used to. I figured the unit was just getting old. Can this be fixed and is it worth it or should I just junk it?

I also experience this isue. Also my IPOD nano 8GB seems to have an issue with complying to shut down etc. Some small pressure on the back of it (like if you place it on a table) will make it go on again (even though Hold is on). When on it has Dimmed light.
As it is not turned of correctly, it does not hold battery very long.
I have had this Ipod for more than 2 years.
It has never behavied in this manor before, but I suspect a resent upgrade to latest firmware to might have something to do with it.
Will investigate.

  • Ipod touch screen is dimmed and won't brighten

i turned my ipod touch on one day and it was fine then the next thing i knew was the screen dimmed like it does before it goes into it's lock mode, but when i push the menu or power button the screen stays dimmed and i have tried several things to brighten the screen but nothing works. can anyone help me with this problem because i can't use my ipod touch anymore now?

    - Double tap the screen with three fingers and go to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn off Zoom and Voice over too if you want.
    - Alternately, you can connect to your syncing computer and go to the Summary pane.  Click on Configure Universal Acess and turn off Zoom and Voice Over (if you wish).

  • My ipod nano 6th generation turns off after she tells me the screen is dimming than ipod goes off.

I wanted to know if there is someone at Apple that can give me some guidance on how to use my ipod nano 6th generation.  I am not sure if I am working it properly or if there is something wrong with it.
    I cannot get back to home page; I shut it off and on and it just stays on same page.  I cannot take the voice constantly interrupting the song or functions;
When you set an album in play it will just play the first song over and over never going to next song.  The genius interrupts and starts randomly playing different songs; when you select a song the voice comes and and tells you the screen is dimming and then seconds later it turns off.
I have tried to read the directions put the ipod won't allow me to follow.
    Please help!

Is VoiceOver turned on?  See here for more help on how to turn it off if need be.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer

  • Ipod screen on while connected to mac

Screen stays on when connected to my mac, seems to prevent it from getting a full charge. If I eject ipod and leave connected, the screen dims, then it will charge. Is this normal? I wish the screen would dim, I use it as a external disk too.

The screen should stay on but dimmed whilst it is connected. Why not eject it, then turn it off and it will still charge?

my new ipod touch goes dim after switching on for about a minute?

    Settings > Brightness > Auto-Brightness (turn off)
You're apparently in the hairy edge of ambient light being just barely dark enough to justify dimming the screen.

  • My ipad2 screen keeps dimming and staying that way. And I can see the reflection of the app I most recently closed. Help?

My ipad screen keeps dimming and has ghost images of the previous open app. Can this be fixed? Help.

Did you ever resolve this issue?  I have an iPad with a similar problem.  After a software update the screen went very dim.  I have just finished trying to restore the iPad to the latest iOS 8.1.3.  The display is still very dim.  The backlight does change when you adjust the brightness slider but at maximum brightness it is just barely possible to see what is on the screen.  What makes me think this is software related is, like you said, there are remnants of previous screen images overlaying the current screen.  For example, when I restored the ipod, I enter DFU mode so the screen showed the "Connect to iTunes" images.  After restoring and rebooting there is not change but the "Connect to iTunes" images are still showing up on top of the normal screens.  Even if I power off the iPad and turn it back on that image still appears as if it is permanently burned into the LCD.  There are more previous screen images appearing underneath the current screen as well (e.g., I can see the System Settings window faintly under whatever screen I'm currently on).  Would like to know if your problem required a new logic board, new LCD, or if you were able to resolve it with software tricks.  Please respond if possible.

  • IPod screen goes black & heats up when connecting to computer - pls help!!

I posted this same question on somebody else's post but thought id post it under a different subject so someone may be able to help.
Im having a problem with my 30GB ipod in that it works fine when just listening with head phones, on my docking station or via my car stereo yet not on computer. When i connect ipod to any computer the ipod screen fades out, goes black & then the ipod becomes quite hot (more near the left hand side of control wheel) and both computer & i-tunes does not recognise it?? Does anybody have any ideas or have had the same problem and fixed it? I pod is nearly 2.5yrs old. thanks

Have you tried a different USB port or a different USB docking cable? It is also possible that the part of the iPod that charges the battery is faulty, or perhaps the battery itself. If it's a 4th gen iPod, the battery is located under the click wheel, more to the left side than to the right. I don't have a 5th gen "video" iPod, but based on the guide here
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-5th-Generation-Video/95
the battery appears to be toward the top of the iPod.
FYI - Here's the guide for the 4th gen iPod.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-4th-Generation/93
Whatever the problem, it appears to be related to charging the battery.

  • HT1212 my ipod screen is cracked and i can't sync my ipod on to itunes becauseit it is locked with a password and i can't enter the password because the heat sensor is messed up and i don't want t restore it and lose everything so how can i get passed tha

My ipod screen is cracked and i can't sync my ipod to itunes because it is locked with a password and i can't enter the password because the heat sensor is messed up on the ipod becasue of the screen and i don't want to restore it and lose everything. What can i do?!

All you can do is to restore and thus erase the iPod unless you can get a data recovery company to preserve the data.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

You did install the latest iTunes (10.5) right?  If the problem was that iTunes does not see the iPod try:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    or
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

  • Windows 8.1 Update Causes Lost Brightness Settings / Screen is Dim

I updated from Windows 8 to 8.1 and the next day my screen went dim and I could not adjust it neither with the keyboard +/-, nor with the onscreen graphics dashboard, nor within the power settings.
    How do you fix it?

Sometimes Windows updates will break your graphics driver. That is because Intel and NVidia do not update their graphics drivers on the same schedule that Microsoft
updates Windows, and sometimes the updates are incompatible and cause the graphics driver to do wonky things. In my case that came in the form of lost brightness settings.
I searched these forums for a fix and I could not find one, so now that I know the answer, I am sharing it here.
How do you fix it? You have to reinstall the graphics driver. This is how I did it.
I found the graphics driver install file that was already on my computer and I ran it. It reinstalled the driver in about 5 seconds and my screen brightness functionality was restored.
Where is my graphics driver install file? On my computer it is here:
    D:driversVGAIntelx649.17.10.2932\Setup.exe
Yours is probably in a different but similar location depending on how it was installed and what brand it is, etc. I have a Lenovo
P400 touchscreen laptop with an Intel HD 4000 Graphics.
