IPod Screen Lock

My iPod was accidentally screen locked. I was playing around with it and did it on accident and now I can't get the correct password and it won't let me access it. I tried the combination I thought I had used but nothing seems to work. The problem is that the original computer I used to program it was my roommate's from school, and she is currently two hours away. I have no idea how to get out of this - there should be another way shouldn't there?

No much you can do without restoring the iPod and erasing everything on it if the ipod is not normally synced to your own computer. Otherwise, have a nice drive.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • Classic ipod, screen locked by a pass code

my kid has a classic ipod, screen locked by a pass code, she forgot the code, how could we unlock it?

    Hi there hsvsheng,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
iPod: How to use the Screen Lock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1350
    Unlocking iPod
You can unlock iPod in one of two ways:
Enter the combination on iPod using the same controls you used to set the combination. If you do not enter the correct combination, the digits onscreen flash red. When you enter the combination correctly, iPod will unlock and return you to the last viewed screen.
Connect iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock iPod using either of these methods, you can restore your iPod to factory settings. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to iPod.If you want to change the primary computer that your iPod is associated with, do this:
Restore your iPod. Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
Connect your iPod to the computer that you want to be the primary computer.
    Open iTunes and synchronize.

  • IPod Screen Locked Out

I was right in the middle of playing one of my games when I accidentally clicked on the Lock button and the screen blacked out. When this happened I clicked on the lock button to unlock it but nothing happened (the screen remains blank).  I plugged it into my computer and it is still functioning, but my Touch is still not showing the screen when I click on the Lock button.

    - Try resetting theiPOd:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring the iPod from backup va iTunes

All you can do is to restore and thus erase the iPod unless you can get a data recovery company to preserve the data.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • IPod Nano Screen Lock bug

I think I have discovered a bug in the iPod Nano software. I'm using the latest software available as for today.
I lock the iPod Nano's screen and as expected, the graphical display of a combination lock appears. I insert the iPod Nano on to the Universal Dock and then proceed to control the Nano from the Apple Remote. It works partly. I am able to pause and play music and after a song finishes, it goes to the next one. I am not, however, able to fast forward, rewind, or skip tracks. I am able to play and pause, plus the Nano goes to the next track automatically after it finishes play the current one.
Seems to me a bug! I would imagine that the screen lock is supposed to lock all kinds of control to the iPod except entering password.

connect it to itunes and it will unlock

  • How do i get my ipod 5 unlock? i cant get past the home screen lock (home screen lock is what i need unlocked) plz help

how do i get my ipod 5 unlocked from the homescreen? plz help

If you have a passcode to the screen lock that you've forgotten, restore the iPod from the computer to which the iPod is synced. For information and instructions, see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212
If that will not work, you'll need to put the iPod into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • Help my ipod still has the screen lock on and the combo wont work

I was just testing the screen lock thing to see if it would work so i set it to my birthday and then i test it out and it wont work my combo i tired every combo so it said if u forget combo plugg it into ur computer . i plugged it in and now what? i unplugged it and its still locked . wat should i do ?

Plugging the iPod in to the computer only unlocks it until the next time you opt to lock the screen. It does not get rid of the old code that you no longer know.
The only way to get rid of the older code and be able to set a new one if desired is to restore the iPod.
To restore, connect the iPod to the computer, open the iPod updater (Start>All Programs>iPod>iPod Updater) and click restore.
Restoring will delete all the files off of your Nano, and reset all settings, including the screen lock. It will not however, change anything in your iTunes library, so after completion, simply update your iPod as normal to get your songs back on.
Then, you are free to set a new screen lock. Hopefully this time it will be one you remember.

  • IPod Touch screen lock

I have a ipod touch that is on the home screen that reads ipod is disabled try again in 21265904 minutes. I cant reset it or even get it to do anything when I plug it into my computer. Any help with this issue would be great

This is probably the result of entering the passcode incorrectly a number of times.
You can reset the counter by syncing (not just connecting) it with your iTunes library. This must be the library that you primarily sync with or the one that you initially used to setup your iPod touch.
You will still need to enter the correct passcode to actually access your device, but the disabled counter will be reset so that you can try again right away.
If you can't unlock your iPod and you don't have access to the primary computer, your only option is to restore the iPod, which will erase all music and data.

Does anyone know how to change the settings so it will turn off/dim/lock automatically without needing to press the white button at the top all day?  I'm draining batter and it's so annoying!

    Try:

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
