IPod screen WHITE but still responding...?

I've had my iPod touch for a year (4th generation) and 3 days ago I restored it because it was working slow. Yesterday around 4pm, the screen turned completely white. I know it still responds because when I plug it into the computer, it says there is an iPod plugged and it makes that sound when you charge it. I tried pressing the sleep and home button but the screen just turns black and stops responding until about a few seconds when it is turned on. I just tried to restore it again but that doesn't work either. What do I do???
Im atm trying to drain the battery (waiting for it for 12 hours) and than a restore
its not the hardware im 100% sure of it and i dont have warranty to it anymore

It is likely that the display i defective and needs replacing but it could be the logic board. If the logic board then having Apple exchange it for this price i likely the best bet.

  • Why is my IPOD screen white?

Why is my IPOD screen white? I have a 3rd generation Ipod nano.  When I toggle it on, the screen lights up, but is blank.  Is there a fix for this problem?  I have reset and reformatted my Ipod with no success.  After several on/off cycles it will usually return to a normal screen, but it is very time consuming.  My Ipod still works when the the screen goes bright white- I just can't see anything to adjust, etc.  Thanks for any info.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Making pictures that are black and white but still have color someplace(s)

Is there a way in aperture to make pictures black and white but still leave color on some objects. for example, having a picture of someone holding a glass of red wine and having everything except the wine black and white?

A couple of ways this can be done
    - non destructively:
Use the Color adjustment to reduce the saturation of all the colors you dont want,
and leave only the saturation of the saturation of the color you do want.
Use the Ranges to more selectively choose the right color you want to leave.
    - destructively:
Use the Dodge&Burn plug-in from Apple.
Set the brush to Desaturate, choose its strength and size appropriately.
Then just desaturate all the area's that need to be desaturated.

  • Ipod screen white cnt see anything still works

I just bought my ipod touch its 4th gen 16 gb and iv had it not even a month. i dropped it in school today and it was the first time i ever dropped it. Now the screen is white but it still works i just cant see anything i can play music from the lock screen and i can skip a song and go back a song from the lock screen but its white i cant see anything. someone told me to let it go dead and that it might turn back on

If you still have the problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod, then you have a hardware problem  Maybe you did something incorrectly  or maybe there is another problem

  • IPod screen illuminates but no image; iPod won't power off

iPod hard drive whirrs and screen illuminates, but no image (text or other) appears. iPod won't power off. iPod is recognized by iTunes only when in disk mode. Multiple restores were useless in restoring the screen function. Tools such as Disk Utility and Disk Warrior verified the directories were satisfactory. Can't locate a hardware diagnostic tool that can diagnose an iPod; and because the screen is malfunctioning, I can't run the iPod's built-in diagnostic routines.
Any solutions, or is this iPod destined for the repair shop?

If your iPod will not power off, unplug it from any power supply and wait for it to run the battery down completely. Then it will power off simply because there is not enough power to keep it running. (It may take 24 hours to do this.) Once this has happened, plug the iPod back into your computer. After about 30 minutes, you should see the "Please wait, very low battery" message. After a while longer, the iPod will have enough power and should reset itself. If not, re-post, but see below.
At the bottom of your post you state that you have a 30GB video iPod. In that case, if you need to re-post, it would be better in the 5th generation iPod forum, (either 5th generation or 5th gen late - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 for more information) as there will be posts from owners of the same model as you have, and with the same problems.

  • IPod 4th gen's screen was glitching, now the screen is half white, but still works.

Hello everybody! I couldn't find the solution to my problem anywhere on Google so here I am and I really, really hope you guys can help me.
My iPod 4th gen has been acting up lately. Last night, the screen kept flickering and glitching. This happened the first week I got my iPod, but it stopped after a bit and it never happened again until now. I thought this glitching would stop after a bit, but this morning, I still found my iPod in the same state (if not, worse).
I think the problem is yesterday I plugged my iPod into my laptop and none of the USB ports could pick up my iPod so I plugged it into my ancient computer to see if there was something wrong with my cord, but my computer was able to pick up my iPod and so I left it there to charge. I also downloaded the latest version of iTunes onto that computer because the iTunes on that one was really old. After, I plugged it back into my laptop and it worked again. What I'm thinking is that maybe the computer did something faulty to my iPod and messed it up. I think that's what happened the first time also when my brother used my old iPod nano charger (had it for five years) to use it to charge my iTouch.
Anyways, my iPod now has a white screen in the middle and I can't see anything at the bottom, but the first half of the screen is still visible. Also, my iPod still works. I can click on apps, view photos, listen to music perfectly, it's just the screen is all messed up and everything is just super bright.
I've tried resetting it by holding onto the home and the on/off button but it doesn't do anything. I was hoping I wouldn't have to restore my iPod, but it looks like I have to maybe? Do you think I should let my battery completely drain and then plug into my laptop or something? Any suggestions besides dropping by the Apple store to check it?
    Thank you in advance.

I would restore the iPod. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults.
If still have the problem then you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS2634 My Ipod Touch has a cracked screen at the top. The unlock slider does not work. I have loaded the latest software onto the Ipod and iTunes but still the slider will not operate. Is the cracked screen the problem?

My IPod Touch has a small crack at the top of the screen and now the slider will not work to unlock it. Is the cracked screen the problem?

To get pass the passcode lockscreen, recovery mode and restoring should help: iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
If the issue continues after updating and restoring your device, refer to this document.

  • N95 Screen White - But can hear the phone still wo...

Hi I did search and couldn't find anyone else with this sort of problem.  I don;t think its the white screen of death as I can hear the phone turning on and making the noises it normally makes.
A couple of weeks ago my screen went blank gradually.  For a couple of days if I held it in the right place I could see the display, but eventually it all died.
I ordered a new LCD from a company on amazon and fitted it.  The screen lights up, but nothing comes on and as I said before I can hear the welcome nokia jingle and the beeps it does when it turns on.  I contacted the company I bought the LCD from and they said maybe it was a faulty lead that connect the LCD, so I sent it back and the sent a replacement, but that does the same thing.
Anyone any idea's on what else it could be, as it seems unlikely that 2 new LCD's cable are faulty?!
    Thanks

  • My Ipod was white but now it's black

So, a week ago I dropped my Ipod and the screen turned white.I tried reseting it and restoring it but it still is white. I opened it up to check if anything was out of place and closed it.Now the screen is black. Can you guys help me?

A white screen means the video electronics cannot "talk" to the LCD display panel.  A black screen means the back light (a really small and fragile flourescent light) is not working, or the iPod is not powering up.
What could have happened when you opened the iPod is you disconnected the touch screen or you may have damaged the flex print cable that connects the touch screen to the main board.  This will keep the iPod from powering up.
The bottom line is, you're hosed, but you do have some options:  You can buy a new iPod, or you can invest in a new LCD panel and mabye a touch screen and then see if you can fix what you broke...  parts are available on line.  eBay and Google are your friends....
