Make sure you do all the following “TRYs”
A. Try to wait 30 minutes while iPod is charging.
B. Try another FireWire or USB through Dock Connector cable.
C. Try another FireWire or USB port on your computer .
D. Try to disconnect all devices from your computer's FireWire and USB ports.
E. Try to download and install the latest version of iPod software and iTunes

  • IPod screwing up again!!

Hello again, I managed to connect the iPod to a PC and had no trouble at all. However, when I reconnected it back to my iBook, it screwed up once again. It said I needed to reformat it. Yet everytime I try to restore it an error message pops up. I decided to let it wait, but the battery is fully charged and I've been waiting for at least an hour and a half with no luck on the restore. I don't know much about this formatting, because friends have let me borrow their iPods before and I can put songs on it from my PC and Mac. Is something wrong with the iPod? Should I return it and get a new one? Or can someone please help me fix it???

Ben, Chances are you need an update to the ipod. What is the ipod updater are you running? You might not want to hear this but you might have to upgrade itunes as well.

  • Help!!!! is my ipod screwed or can i retrieve it

i got this thing on my ipod so when it freezes and i do the thing and it comes up with apple instead of that its stewy and he moves and he says how much percentage it has left this all was working fine untill i just constantly tried to install this app well it froze and i did what your supposed to do and then it got to 100% and it didn't do anything it has a loading circle that occasionally freezes so i have to turn it off otherwise it will stay like that. so then i turn it off and then in like 20 mins it starts over again first with the apple logo and then stewy. but when i turn it off and try to turn it on again myself it says i have no charge. i have tried so many things and have held the buttons that on other sites says to but no itunes logo comes up. one more dilemma my ipod knows when its plugged in because it has the lightning bolt when i plug it in but the charging isn't working efficiently i have even tried to plug my ipod into the music player but it says no ipod when it is firmly plugged in. can someone please help me i don't want to throw it out

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod Screws up

So this problem started two days ago.
I was listening to my Ipod, and all of a sudden it went hay-wire and started skipping like 7 songs and then it wouldnt play a song, and it was frozen for almost a minute or two. It would then start to play again, but after it had skipped like seven songs. I figured I would plug my Ipod in and restore it. So I did and when I restored it and all that fancy stuff, I get this exclamation folder! But then at times it would turn on? So when it DID turn on one time, I plugged it in and tried to put my music on it figuring it would be just fine. Well, I had to update it, so i did that and then now all i get is the exclamation folder. I put it into Disk mode and tried to restore it that way, didn't work. Sometimes a 'Do Not Disconnect' sign comes up, but it looks like a regular Ipod display, and not my IPOD display.
Now, What really upsets me about this, is this, If I have to, Is the secodn time in less then a month I'll have to send and Ipod in for Repair/Replacement. This is Ticking me off. My Friend has had a dell DJ for over 2 years, and his only problem was it got stolen, But he found who had it and got it back. I'm tired of dealing with this IPOD. Is it possible to repair the IPOD without sending it in, or Do I have to? And, Can I get a refund on an Ipod I bout last September?
    Thanks

One option hope it works in your case ..
Try to find a Mac computer, open the disk utility go to tab "Partition" and click "partition", go to tab "Erase" and click "Erase" once it has been completed open the iPod Updater and click Restore.
If you cant find a Mac, go to an apple shop and ask them a favour

  • Will mp3s from a corrupt iPod screw up my iBook

    Hi
I should give a bit of history for this question. I recently discovered both the hard drive and the logic board on my 3 year old iBook were horribly corrupted. I had to buy a new hard drive, and Apple replaced my logic board.
Four days after I got my computer back, my 3 month old iPod began exhibiting symptoms that seem to stem from a faulty hard drive as well. About 10% of the time, I could get the iPod menu screen to come up (the other times the iPod doesn't even turn on) but when I went to play any song, it would skip to the next song, etc.
Right before I sent the iPod back to Apple, I decided, just for kicks, to see one more time if I could use the program iPod Viewer to copy the music from my iPod back onto my iBook with its new hard drive. Amazingly, it worked. I backed up all my music. When I disconnected my iPod, suddenly, it worked again.
I am, of course, confused about why my iPod would suddenly start working again. But I am most concerned about this: These mp3's originated on my corrupt iBook hard drive and then were on my bizarre iPod. Will having them on my new hard drive corrupt it?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Michael

Haven't heard of 'inssider' . Will give that a try.
I also have a Motorola baby video monitor in the room. Don't know if that can cause probs.
although I was told that other equipment (i.e. baby monitors) use G technology and wouldn't interfere with an N router)
This is not correct.. G and N both use 2.4ghz with the same band and same channels.
And unless the baby monitor is plugged into a computer it is not using wifi at all.. it is simply using the free band 2.4ghz.
Turn it off during the day and see if it makes a difference.
Unfortunately a program that analyses wifi cannot see things like cordless phone or baby monitors because they use different technology to wifi but still cause interference.
Wireless QoS, WMM (WiFi Multi media)
Supports up-to 300 Mbps data transfer
    Is this a dual router???
No it is single band.. 2.4ghz.
Dual band wireless uses 5ghz as well as 2.4ghz.
Since there is so much stuff using 2.4ghz these days people are moving the 5ghz but the range is much poorer so you need rather special high power units.. which are expensive.
Also the wireless card at the other end has to be compliant to 5ghz.. most laptops for instance are.. but a lot of desktop cards or devices still need 2.4ghz.
Didn't want to purchase one if its likely to not make a difference. Would be an expensive trial and error!!
Purchase from a store that allows return.
As I said .. wireless is not science.. it is not going to give predictable results.. ethernet yes.. if you pay to get it wired it will work exactly to spec.. it is science.. wireless is voodoo.. it is affected by too many factors to give predictable results. So you have no choice but to trial and error.. sorry!!

  • TS1702 When will Apple come out with a new update because the last one totally screwed up my Ipod? Whenever I try to get on an app, it crashes. I can't even download any more apps. I can't get on safari or most apps without it crashing.

Why does the new update for IPod screw up the function? I can't get on hardly any of my apps, let alone, download any more apps either. I am one unhappy person.

Did you already try to set it up as new device, without using the backup afterwards?

  • IPOD ERROR MESSAGE:   Connect to your computer. Use Itunes to restore.

Whenever I turn my ipod on after its been off for a few hours the screen displays "Connect to your computer. Use Itunes to restore" and then goes blank. I turn the ipod back on again and it appears to work normally but the battery is showing close to zero even though it has been freshly charged!
I have restored the ipod several times as it suggests but this does not get rid of the error message. Is my ipod screwed? I'm surprised there are very few posts on this topic too...
    I have a 30Gb ipod video running v1.2.1

I just found this support document which explains the issue exactly.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303915
Looks like a visit to Regent St is needed.
The reason why I am surprised about the lack of posts on this topic is that I can't believe my issue is so unique. Surely out of the millions of ipod users out there this exact same issue would have been reported more frequently.

  • Ipod wont snyc with itunes

I had to restore my computer back to the factory issue. It crashed Since then I have had problems with my ipod. I have a fifth generation one that has worked perfectly for 2 years. Since i restored my computer I have had to do the 5r's removed and reinstall itunes and quicktime. I have erase and restore the ipod back to as new. Now itunes comes up on computer and all my songs are there but I cant sync the songs to the ipod it tells me ipod wont sync file not found. Please help me i have read posts for 2 weeks now and have tried most everything and nothing works.

I'm having the same problem. My iPod screwed up and luckily I had bought a warrenty with it. Apple sent me a refernished iPod but it says the same thing "iPod could not be sync'd because of missing file" what the heck do I do?!
I restored it to it's factory settings and updated it with the latest version and nothing works. Any advice on this would be appreciated :]

  • IPod classic not showing up...anywhere

Hello all, I've had my 120gig classic for 6 months and all of a sudden it started locking up my computer when I plugged it in to sync/charge. After a while, it said that the iPod may be corrupt and I needed to restore it to use with Windows.
That's cool and all, but I can't actually access the iPod in iTunes - it just locks up, and eventually says "hey, you should restore this." I have tried reinstalling iTunes twice with latest version (following all the steps in the support articles here) along with clearing temp files, stopping/starting the device in Windows manager, trying in disk mode, etc. Nothing.
By the way, when I kick it into disk mode and try to access it from Windows, I can SEE the iPod, but when I try to access it I get a similar lock up, and after a few minutes it quits trying to access the disk.
finally, even with all these problems I DID still have access to all my music on my iPod. However, now the music has disappeared, though it still says my iPod only has ~200 megs free. So it's still got all the files on there.
is my iPod screwed? is it my computer? Should I just go stick my head in the oven?
    any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Ipod touch was working till i connected to itunes and now won't turn on

I connected it and asked for me to authorize like sixty applications and every time i tried itunes timed out. While doing so it had the apple logo with the loading screen around it and after the third try the ipod became unresponsive. It will not turn on,or restore.I tried holding the two buttons for a full min but still nothing, please help...

    OK, problem solved.
I didn't want to restore my iPod until I knew that it was something to do with my hard drive. Also I was a bit hesitant because the songs were playing fine on my iPod. It just wasn't being recognized by my computer when I connected it.
However when I dropped by the Apple Store they were swamped with customers. I didn't get a chance to see anyone at the Genius Bar.
So I decided to restore my iPod, even if it meant I would be losing all my songs.
This is my 3rd iPod (my other ones broke) so I knew all about backing my songs onto a CD.
After I restored it it was working fine!
So I suggest all you people to BACK UP YOUR MUSIC.
There were so many times when my iPod screwed up on my and I lost everything.

  • Can anyone help me fix my iPod/iTunes problem?

I have an iPod Touch Gen 3 with iOS 5.1.1.  I'm running Windows 8 (which is probably my first problem) and iTunes 11 or whatever the latest one is.  For whatever reason, whenever I add a song from my laptop to my iPod, the song: A) either skips, only plays the first couple of seconds and then goes on to the next song, or doesn't play at all and goes on to the next song, and B) has heavily pixelated and distorted artwork.  I originally thought that it was my old iPod screwing up, which is two years old and semi-broken, so I assumed it was just ready to die.  I've deleted and reinstalled my iTunes, but that didn't help.  I'm going to run a security scan soon to see if there's anything wrong with the iTunes files.  If anyone has had this happen and knows how to fix, or if anyone has an idea to give me a direction to go, please help me out.

    Troubleshooting songs that skip
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
