Ipod seems to be stuck in limbo

I've got a 4G ipod that when I attach it to my USB port it goes into "do not connect" and I can hear the hard drive cycling. My computer also makes a noise that it recognizes something is connected. Itunes doesn't start up and if I try to the computer just freezes up. When I unplug the ipod from my computer I get an "ok to disconnect" screen and it says its in disk mode. I've reset, restarted, reinstalled everything. I don't know what else to do and there are way too many threads to go through. Please help!

Also, I've gone into update while my ipod is connected and it says "plug in an ipod to update it"

  • Ipod seems to be stuck between syncing.... stuff on ipod is now labelled 'other'

Ipod seems to be stuck between syncing .... stuff on ipod is now labelled 'other' ... don't have the music on itunes so can't get back from there. Is there anyway to remedy current state without having to restore and lose everything? music, playlist menus etc come up as being empty even though there is space on the disk. Am wondering if it has been casued by plugging into itunes at work. Ipod worked fine last night but I just can't access anything today ...... have looked quickly at forums but cannot find anything which works. Have reset a couple of times with little effect. Went home and pluged into home pc just in case .... but no joy ..... have itunes set to manually manage so it doesn't synch music. Any help would be most appreiciated :-)

Plug it in to iTunes - go to the Summary tab when the iPod appears - go down to the 'Configure Accessibility' button (bottom of the page) - click it.  You may see VoiceOver checked.  Uncheck it, then click OK.
Failing that: I have a 7G.  With my version, I get the voice when I hold both volume buttons down (I think).  Maybe your buttons do the same thing and maybe they are being held down by something?  Just a guess.

  • My Ipod seems to be stuck in a manified or zoom mode.  If I turn it off it goes to normal print size for aout 2 seconds and then zooms in too large to use.  Help?

My ipod seems to be stuck in a magnified or zoom mode. If i turn it off, it goes back to normal size for about 3 seconds and then zooms in so large that it is unuseable.  Someone help!  Please.

Did you follow the instructions in the link I provided in my first reply?
Also try triple clicking the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn Zoom off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there.

  • HT1632 My ipod seems to be stuck in a "Loop" as my nike+ tries to download, just keeps saying, "downloading" but nothing happens, runs my battery down. What can I do?

My ipod seems to be "stuck" downloading of workout information to Nike+. Ipod keeps saying it is downloading but doesn't complete download, runs my battery down and my computer doesn't now recognize my ipod and I get "error" message (2005).  What can I do to fix this problem?

I suggest try getting it back to your stock iOS and forget about jailbreaking.

  • My 6th gen ipod seems to be stuck in accessibility mode

My 6th generation Ipod is stuck in accessibility mode and is "voicing" all the different options on the screen.  Also, a swiping action is not working.  I have not done a factory reset to original settings but it will likely be my next step.  A hard reset did not cure the problem.

Plug it in to iTunes - go to the Summary tab when the iPod appears - go down to the 'Configure Accessibility' button (bottom of the page) - click it.  You may see VoiceOver checked.  Uncheck it, then click OK.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The songs are grayed out in iTunes because the iPod is set to automatically update. That is normal.
As for the songs skipping and not playing, that is not.

  • Ipod radio seems to be stuck in a very short range. how to expand the range?

  • Can't restore 9.5, can't uninstall, stuck in limbo!

I should have known better. I had acrobat 9.5.2 installed, and was perfectly happy with it. I could view PDF docs, and scan from my scanner directly to a PDF document. Then after weeks of the updater reminding me, I finally let X1 install. Much to my dissapointment I could no longer scan directly to PDF fioles from my scanner. So all I wanted to do was "go back", and this is where the trouble started. My machine is Win-XP pro SR3. I used a windows restrore point to go back to the day before my X1 upgrade. After doing that, acrobat 9.5x seemed to work again, and I could now scan to PDF again from my scanner. I thought I was done. But then, after viewing a document in acfrobat, I realized that a lot of features wouldn't work, and I'd keep getting complaints about plugins missing. So next, I downloaded the full install for Acrobat 9.5.2 from adobe and tried to install from scratch. It would get tp about 96% complete, and then fail with a box saying "the product is already installed". So next i went to the windows control panel and tried to remove acrobat, figuring it would install better if it was first completely removed. But the uninstall failed. Upon attempting to eremove acrobat (listed as adobe reader 9.5.2), an alert comes up saying "The patch package cannot be opened". So now I'm stuck in limbo, and I'll probably need some expert help to manually remove the product from my system, or find a way to fix it. Naturally when I got on the adobe chat line, I was basically told they wouldn't support anything but the latest product.

Well thanks. Good to know its a registry cleaner, because cleaning up all remnants of an applications registry entries by hand is very tedious. But a registry cleaner is not a full uninstall, right? And for now, as i said, I did manage to fix my 9.5.2 installation.
As far as the the versions and names, I've probably added to the confsion here, but in my defense let me explain that if you give me a product and call it "X", and after some upgrade it becomes known as "Y", you can see where a customer like me would be challenged to not think of them the same thing. And this time a programmer may have missed an instance of the name "acrobat" when the code base was borrowed. You see, it is indeed Adobe Reader 9.5.2 when you pull down the "help->about" menu. But, I also have an all-in-one Lexmark printer that has scanning capability, and when you use it, it downloads a list of available applications from the target computer that can accept the raw scan data. ACROBAT READER was one of them, and thats what "Adobe Reader" broadcasts to the scanners as an available scan application. This is what I've always used to scan documents and convery them to a PDF file.
So... when I first upgraded to Adobe Reader X1, I lost my ability to scan to "Acrobat Reader" after it deleted files related to "Adobe Reader 9.5.2". And just FYI, it was NOT replaced by a new Adobe Reader scan application, so I lost my ability to "scan to PDF". When I subsequently backed out X1, and restored (and subsequently repaired) Adobe Reader 9.5.2, everything worked fine again, including the ACROBAT Reader option broadcast to my scanner (printer). So just to be clear, it is Abobe Reader 9.5, (and several versions prior incidentally ) that has carried over the word "acrobat", by sending this name as a potential scan application target to my scanner.
I'll be happy to provide you any other particulars you might want, if it might help others in product support. But as for my current issue and situation, the problem was solved, even if by a round about way. Now I certainly would try completely uninstalling it and re-installing from scratch when I have time and have a clone ready to reverse whatever happens if it doesn't work out. But the fact is I still can't! The add/remove programs operation in my control panel still says that "patch package" is missing when I try to do an "uninstall" or "change", and you've just told me that the cleaner will only clean the registry. So it seems I have a situation where at this point, my adobe reader 9.5.2 works, and the only thing I can't do is uninstall it. Remember I mentioned that the X1 install attempt merilly deleted tons of files, and I geuss one of them was the uninstall script.

Be good to know what the diagnostic results are.
I've also just run into an issue where I couldn't restore an iPod with a corrupt file system, and the "super fix" in that linked article wasn't working for me. I've run across a potentially useful workaround.
iPod Classic went on the fritz today just after syncing. Couldn't restore via iTunes, kept getting 1439 errors, Windows wouldn't format as FAT32, claimed the "Volume is too big for FAT32". Finally tracked down EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition (Free) and formatted as FAT32 with 128k clusters. The iPod is filling back up again. Might be worth a shot here...

  • Trying to upgrade but seems to get "stuck"???

I'm trying to upgrade to the os4 software, but as the iPhone is being backed up, it seems to get stuck and doesn't indicate that anything is happening. Any advise??

Yes we did the uninstall today... Still just the same , error message is 0xe8000065 . We then tried to follow directions that apple give, if the uninstall doesn't work, next on list is to 'restart the iPod service' the insert tins are not helpful, I could t find ' manage' in 'my computer' found services somehow which was next steo then couldn't find iPod service properties on vista. , hard work and a waste of time!

  • IPod within iPhone is stuck in repeat song mode

The iPod in in iPhone 3G seems to be stuck in repeat song mode. Whether I use shuffle or linear doesn't matter. I've tried rebooting to no avail. I guess I'm going to have to reset the software when I get home if I can't fix this at work.
    Phil

If you are looking at the iphone screen when a song is playing, and you touch the screen once, in the upper left corner is an icon that looks like a circle with two arrows in it. Touch that icon to turn repeat off. That should fix your problem.
