IPod service request

after inputing my serial number in their support page and agreeing to the terms I am taken to a login page after login in I am taken to a sorry page not able to procees at the moment.... this has been the case for the past three weeks.
anybody have a solution as to how to service request my ipod via their web page

I wish I did - having just been informed by the very expensive 0870 people that I couldn't be typing my ID in right if I couldn't access it(!)
I'm also surprised that this feature isn't more widely publicised on the support site.
Anyone who is disabled in the sense of:
i. Unable to speak
i. Physically disabled to the extent that they can't use the phone and type in whatever manner they do.
ii. Has some sort of auditory processing disorder
basically only gets the info about the telephone number in the Applecare manual, and the info about service requesting via the web is not easy to find on the web site (as I spent a good hour looking).
Would be helpful if they could do as some large companies do, and have a link for disabled people advising them of alternative ways to access e.g. service.

  • How to cancel an iPod service request

A while ago I requested some iPod service, but I ended up figuring the problem out, and just forgot about the request. Now my iPod is fully dead, and I want to send another request, but it says I can only make one request at a time (because the other one is still in effect). Does anyone know how to cancel it? When I click on it, it says "no data".
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Max

just call AppleCare and tell them you need to cancel. They can look your dipatch up by iPod serial# or your dispatch ID#.

  • IPod Shuffle Service Request Error???!!!

Hey all, I'm sending my iPod Shuffle back to apple because it's no longer recognized by iTunes of my PC and it no longer charges either. So I entered all my info on the onlince service request page, credit card, shipping address, etc. Then after I hit the last step, I got 2 "SQL Server" errors or something that popped up, but the page with my case number and dispatch number, etc. still loaded. So what I'm asking is, did Apple really get all my info, because if this SQL server error message popped up didn't send all my data, I'll be charged $169 (I CANNOT AFFORD THIS!) right? So I guess I wait and see if I get an email from Apple, but any help would be appreciated, $169 is far too much for me at the moment

  • Ipod classic 120gb not working and service request won't go through

my ipod has been messed up for awhile now. it randomly started skipping songs and then it started not playing them. so i went to apple's website where it told me to follow the 5 r's which i did, and now it is just showing a red x and tells me to visit apple's website. i made a service request back when it first messed up but was really busy with school and now that i'm done i have tried to make another service request and it keeps saying we're sorry blah blah some kind of problem and to contact apple. unfortunately it's been over 90 days since i bought my ipod back in february and so i don't really want to call and have to pay. my ipod messed up in april so i only had it from feb to april. does anyone know if i can only make one service request or if apple is just having some kind of problem with the request or what the deal is. i would really like to get my ipod fixed considering it wasn't cheap and i've barely got to use it. thanks.

Have you tried contacting the courier company that collected your iPod in the first instance, or phoning Apple using the number in the "contact us" link at the bottom of this page?

  • How to cancel a service request?

I had been running the Ipod in the car and noticed it had gone into the red. I turned it off and it went off normally. When I got home I hooked it to the computer to charge and it froze up completely, no response to anything, hold button, click wheel, weirdest yet, the backlight stayed on permanantly. And the computer did not recognize that it was even connected in Itunes or as a drive.
So I freaked out a bit and after an hour or so while( after trying what I could which was basically holding controls down and flipping the hold button off and on ) I gave up and put in a service request, and went to bed.
The next day, I noticed that the Ipod was dark ( which I expected since the battery was almost gone and the backlite was stuck on ). But just for fun I press the clickwheel on and lo and behold, it came back on as normal. I hooked it up to the computer as usual and it was visible to Itunes and the computer as it should have before. So I went through the reset process just in case and relaoded my music.
So I guess there should be a 6th "R" Let it sit over night and see if it still screwed up the next day
Now I'm stuck trying to figure out how to cancel a service after already receiving the return box Which was very fast by the way. Like, 2 days. Anyway, I looked all over the support site and could not find anything that looked like what I needed.
Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to cancel the service request?

  • Service 'iPod Service' failed to start and Error 1503

Thanks to all the people who have provided answers posts... they have helped me get to this point!...
I have a slight variation on this issue - an Error 1503...
My original symptom was that I couldn't get iTunes to recognise my iPod so I tried to install 7.2.0.35... and right at the end I got the message about "iPod service failed to start check your permissions"...
I use AVG Free 7.5.472, Sygate Personal Firewall 5.6 and Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4, but for the install I have used msconfig to shut down everything other than iTunes and QuickTime...
When I run services.msc I get 2 versions of iPod Service listed - one as "iPod Service" and the other as"iPodService" (i.e. no space between iPod and Service)... the "iPodService" is started but the "iPod Service" is not and when I try to start it I get a message "Could not start the iPod Service service on Local Computer. Error 1503: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
    Would appreciate any assistance!...
    Many thanks in advance...

I had been experiencing this error for a long time since iTunes 7 released. I tried different ways to resolve it. Untill today, I found a possible resolution and sucsessfully install iTunes 7.3.1.3. I think that might be helpful.
First, remove all previrous itunes and install the lates t release. You will stuck when trying to start iPod service. Open c:\program files\iPod\bin. You will see iPodService. Double click it. If you got an error about a .dll file (mine is setupapi.dll), remember it and you can continue....
2nd, put xp disk in dvd/cd-rom. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32 and locate the .dll file and rename it. This moment, your cd is running trying to rebuild the dll file just renamed.
3rd, when cd-rom stop running. Retry to start service again. Good luck, I hope you can resolve it.
I checked some microsoft KB for this error. This might happen when xp system been customized or dll file corrupted.

  • Service Requested what does that mean?

    Hello everyone,
i checked the repair service of my Ipod touch 4g and is says since two days "Service Requested". Do i need to send my Ipod first ? Or what do i need to do ?

    In the Email is says:
To ensure proper handling of your service request, take your product to The UPS Store. Please visit  The UPS Store locator and enter your zip code, then click Find. (Please note that using a UPS Drop Box or any other UPS location--other than The UPS Store--will likely result in unnecessary fees, shipment delays, and possibly the return of your product unrepaired.)
Please print this email and take it along with your product to The UPS Store. Do not include any other items, such as headphones or a power adapter, as they will not be returned to you.
At The UPS Store, please be prepared to provide your Repair ID, which is A91822557. This Repair ID should be available in the UPS system within one hour of the time the ID was created. If The UPS Store has no record of your Repair ID, you may need to wait a few minutes. The UPS Store will supply the packaging, ship your product to Apple using the Apple Corporate Account work order, and not bill you for this transaction.
To avoid cancellation of this service request, you must return your original IPOD TOUCH (4TH GENERATION) to Apple within ten (10) business days. If you no longer require service, simply disregard this email.
So i have to take it to the store and the will give me a box for my ipod right ?

  • Service request

Ok, so my Nano stopped responding completely. Nothing would help it. No amount of resets or plugging into other computers helped at all. Totally unresponsive blank LCD etc. Wouldn't appear as a drive, charge, or log onto iTunes. Nothing.
Anyhows, after a day of waiting to see if anything happened (and it didn't - million attempted resets in and out of dock later) we sent off a service request. Apparently would take two months (euro engraving) to get back once sent. No choice though really.
Today (after 2 days of nothing working) I just thought I'd give it one more reset. And a simple out of battery icon appeared. Excellent. Plug it into a dock and everything powers up. Music works great, and it's now showing that it is fully charged. I'm willing to believe it is a very rare occurance (totally stuck and reset doesn't help at all). So I'll try it for a week or so intensively and then forget all about the service.
Anyways, I also got today the service request box to send back the iPod. Obviously I at the very least want to wait a good week or two to see if the problem keeps happening, and may not even need a service anymore (mainly because of the two month wait). But apon reading the paperwork that came with the service box, it basically says "If the defective part or product is not returned to Apple within 10 business days, you will be charged for it's value". Erm, does this mean that if I don't return the Nano then I will have to pay Apple the price of the Nano again? Fair enough I can understand paying a small charge for sending out the box and not using it (although it was Apple's brand new product that was utterly useless for a period of time with no fix), but having to pay the full price again?
So basically can someone help me on this. Who can I contact to either stop the service, or at least extend the 10 days? Or can I just send back an empty box and leave it at that? At the end of the day I don't want to be without the Nano for 2 months (was quicker to recieve the order when Nano first came out) if it was a one of glitch.
    Cheers

The "If the defective part or product is not returned to Apple within 10 business days, you will be charged for it's value" literally was copied from the paperwork that came with the box. What it doesn't quite explain (might have missed the small print) is whether the "value" is the cost of the postage, or the cost of the replacement for the defective part.
Doesn't matter either way as the Nano is going back. Hopefully will get one that works this time. Out of interest, I assume your warranty stays the same (I still have 10 months or so), so presumedly if your Nano kept going wrong (which from the evidence on this forum could very well happen) and it kept taking upto 2 months to get back (3 weeks for engraved version I was assured on phone last night), then you could easily run out of warranty within a few replacements, without ever using your Nano. Fun.
    Cheers

  • Service Request to an FPO address

It tell's me that I can not have my Ipod, which is still under warrenty, fixed through the Service request program due to the fact I live at an FPO address. Is my only option to send it to someone I know in the states or is there a way around this issue?

I guess that the reason you didn't receive a reply to your other post was that we are all just users here like yourself, so no-one is really going to know the answer to that.
If I were to guess, I'd say yes, that would be your only option.
