Ipod Set A Passcode For Itself

i turned off my ipod and when it turned back on it told me to enter a keyboard password even though i never set one. Help Please!!!

You will need to do a DFU restore because if you do a normal restore, iTunes will probably ask you for the passcode: http://appletoolbox.com/2010/07/using-dfu-restore-to-solve-iphone-problems/

  • My iPod set a password for itself

My iPod was being slow, so I go and turn it off. But when I tuned it back on, my password wasnt working. Instead of numbers, a lettered keyboard showed up.

I have no idea why it happend. To recover use of your iPod
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

  • How do i set a passcode  for apps ?

i want to set a passcode for all my apps

You can't. You can only PW protect apps that have that feature incorporated into the app.

  • I never set a passcode for my iPad but it is locked and I can't get it unlocked.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  How do I get it unlocked?

I never set up a passcode for my iPad 2 but it is locked and I can't unlock it.  The "slide to unlock" does not work.  Any suggestions on how to unlock it?

You have to slide to unlock to bring up the keyboard if a passcode is set. If you can't slide then try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • Is there anyway to set a passcode for my iPhone/iPad, but prevent the device from being disabled?

My wife and I have iPhones, and also have an iPad. We also have three children, and recently they have been trying to guess our passcodes so that they can watch videos and play games. Trouble is, after 10 attempts, the device will disable for 60 seconds, and then if the 11th attempt is wrong, the device will disable for 5 minutes, etc. My iPad is currently disabled for 60-minutes. Grrr.
Is there anyway to set a passcode to keep the children out, and yet prevent the device from being disabled on successive attempts? I realise that this feature is there to protect our devices from brute-force attacks, but we are being penalised, in that our devices become disabled for a period of time.

Well, so you have to ask: Is the problem your iPad or your children? Another question: If they're not to watch videos or play games, then why are they on the iPad in the first place?
Obviously you already know the answer to your question; there is no way to set it up the way that you want to. If you nonetheless feel that you should be able to do that, then put together your best case for it and make your wishes known directly to apple via their established Feedback links:

  • Is there a wayto set a passcode on one's ipad e mail alone or do you have set a passcode for the entire i pad

is there a way to set a passcode on one's ipad e mail or do you have to lock the entire ipad?

You cannot passcode lock the mail app with any feature of the iOS.. There is an app that will let you passcode mail but I have no idea how well it works. You can check it out.
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mail-locker-keep-your-mail/id449844544?mt=8
If that doesn't work for you, then you have would have to passcode lock the iPad in order to prevent anyone from seeing your mail.

  • Forgot passcode for iphone that I just bought have not set up an account with yet, how do I recover?

I just bought a used iphone 4, it has no account or data plan associated with it, so it has no owner, my problem is that I accidentally set a passcode for the phone that I do not know, how do I reset the phone WITHOUT itunes so I can access my phone again? Currently it will not lock me out unless I don't wake it up in 4 hours, I have it in the settings to require a passcode every four hours, can I take it to AT&T and set up my data plan and account on the phone as long as it doesn't lock the screen? And from there can I reset the passcode in itunes? This is urgent so please help if you can, thank you

Not sure I understand your post as first part says without iTunes and next to last sentence says in iTunes. Either way, iTunes is going to be involved. The following should help: If you can't update or restore your iOS device

I have never create a passcode for updating of software.  Now it is asking for the passcode when I tried to update.  Anyone can help?
    Thank you.

Perhaps it wants you to set a passcode for the account, not enter one you already have. But for the latter:

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • How can I set a password for my pictures on iPad Air ?

How can I set a password for my pictures on iPad Air ? if anyone have my iPad access mail or something I don't want anyone access my photos so how can I set it up.

You can't set a password for the Photos nor Mail apps, you can only set a passcode for your iPad as a whole (via Settings > Passcode).
There are third-party photo management apps such as Photo Manager Pro which you can copy your photos into from the Photos app (and then delete them from Photos), that app allows you (via its settings within the app) to set a password to access it.
For email you could access your email via a browser (and not have your password stored in the browser), or see if there are any email apps in your country's app store which have a password option

  • HT201274 Why is the iphone asking a passcode to Erase All Content and Settings if I never set a passcode?

I am trying to Erase All Content and Settings from my ios and it is asking for a 4 digit passcode but I dod not set any passcode for my iphone. I've reset it before and never asked now it is showing after the new IOS6 update.
Is there a default passcode or where can I get the code?
    Thanks,

If you are referring to the passcode lock you can restore the iPad by connecting it to your computer and using iTunes.
If you are being asked for your Apple ID and password you will have to enter that. No way around it.

  • Passcode for iphone 4

I have looked and looked for ways to set a passcode for my iphone but I can't seem to find out how.  Things that I have found has said go to Settings > General> Passcode  but whenever I got to settings and general there is no passcode option!  Am I missing something?

if you go to settings--general-- in the middle there should be a passcode lock..click that..turn password on..and there ya go

  • Problem with setting my passcode on iPhone 4S

I got my handset upgraded to a brand new iPhone 4S today, and set it up by restoring it from a backup of my previous iPhone which was a 3G. Everything worked beautifully until I was prompted to set a passcode for my 4S: I entered the passcode I wanted, and then re-entered it as prompted but it said 'passcode could not be set (-1)'. This kept repeating over and over until I gave up and said I'd set the passcode later. But when I go into the settings > general > passcode lock and tap 'turn passcode on' it prompts me to enter my password, then re-enter it...but then goes back to the same menu as before with 'turn passcode on' - it just won't acitvate a passcode.
Does anyone know what might be going on? I've tried resetting, restoring, rebooting my phone - nothing has worked

i would do this, set the 4s up first as a new phone do all the settings etc so it works, dont sync apps etc
then after all that, put it into DFU and back up from 3gs, see if that helps?
maybe silly, but did u try passcode of old phone, was the old phone jailbroken?
