Ipod showing no songs on pod...

I have a new 60Gig Video/Picture Ipod. It is 2 months old. Just today, I was updating songs and videos from iTunes onto my Ipod. I disconnected it perfectly fine and right. When i went to look for songs and videos on my Ipod, they were not found. All songs and videos were blank. I went under Settings, and About and it says there is still the 5Gig of Music/Videos there, but I can not see the songs on my Ipod. I then connected it back to my computer and iTunes cannot even find the songs. When I highlight the Ipod under iTunes, it says the Ipod is blank.
So I was wondering if anyone knows what the problem is or how I can fix it. It might even be an authorization thing but I dont know. I read around and tried to fix it under settings and nothing worked. If anyone has any advice that would be great!

  • IPOD shows deleted songs

Hello i have an iPOD 5th gen, and I accidentalz almost deleted all songs on it. So I rather unplugged it in progress - to prevent deletion of all my songs..
Now iPOD shows songs he probably did delete, but didnt delte from his library... How can I check out whats left on my iPOD (force him to read from its self which songs are on his hdd)
    Thx.

Can't you just look under music-->songs and see what is there?
Are you trying to get songs back on the computer, or are they on the computer and trying to get them back on the iPod, or what?

  • ITunes and iPod show different song counts... not all songs sync

    Hi,
I've been having this problem for many many years.
I have more than 18,000 songs now, and the song count in iTunes is always 5 higher than on the iPod.  I have my iPod set to sync the entire library.  All songs in the library are checked for sync as well.  I get no error message during sync that something might be missing, incompatible, or corrupt  When I look at iPod music in iTunes it has the wrong count as well.
Every time a new version of iTunes comes out, I send feedback to Apple regarding this issue.  As expected, Apple ignores their feedback, and from what I can tell they ignore the community forums as well, and they have yet to address the issue in any way, or even contact me about it.
I'd like to find which songs are bad and remove/delete them from my library and collection or fix them.  Is there a sync log hidden somewhere that I can check to see which songs will or won't sync?  Why doesn't iTunes tell us whether or not it expects a song to sync or if it's iPod compatible?  Why does it say less songs will sync without giving a reason why?
I've heard that iPods don't sync duplicate files, but I've looked at my duplicates.. At some point, Apple screwed that up too, it shows songs that are from different compilations as duplicates now, instead of looking at the data proper to determine if it's a duplicate, it seems to just look at the Artist and Song Title and even that doesn't seem to be correct because I have more duplicate song titles listed and in some cases it lists songs from two different artists as being duplicates.  I have many more duplicates listed in itunes than the discrepancy in the song count would suggest... 3,835 more songs to be exact.
I've tried to select only checked songs and get the same results.  I've tried to restore the iPod and I get the same results.  I've tried clearing the library completely and reloading all songs and I still get the same results.  I've scanned through the library and all songs appear to have compatible settings.   All my songs are either mp3 or m4a(aac) formats.  I don't use playlists at all.
If anyone knows of a solution, please let me know.  I don't want to have to check every single file.
    Thanks!

So that you know, for the future, Apple makes it very clear (specifically so, when you submit Feedback) that they do not respond to the feedback directly. They do however, read the feedback and consider suggestions for improvements to iPods. They also look for - and act upon - bug reports etc. That's what the Feedback is for.
They also make it clear that they do not monitor or respond to these discussions. (That said, Apple employees are free to - and do look at - some of the posts and have been known to contact posters directly when looking for further information regarding bugs.)
As you have now found, this community (as Apple now prefers to call it) can often help sort out your problems, espcecially when skilled users such as tt2 (aka Steve) are let loose!

  • Why is my ipod showing duplicate songs?

I recently downloaded the ipod touch update that came with the release of icloud, and in doing so, all the music was wiped from my ipod. When I put the music back on, several songs from some albums showed up twice on the ipod screen; however, the songs only show up once on the computer screen when I click on my ipod. All the information is exactly the same, so it's not a case of a 'get info' difference. I've tried deleting the songs from my ipod and putting them back on, I've tried deleting the music files from my computer and importing them again, but it still happened. I even restored my ipod to factory settings started again, and it still happened.
Can anyone help me out? Is it a possible bug in the update or something else? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Older 30GB ipod shows no songs in menu, but memory shows they are there

solutions? (I'm 2500 miles away from the home computer with all the songs...)

    Hello sak54757,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
About your only potential solution is to try a hard reset of the iPod. To do this, press and hold both the Select and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. If no luck the first time, don't be afraid to try it a few more times.
Again, it's really your only option at this point. Sorry.

  • I have a new ipod nano 7th Generation.  When I plug in the earphones, there is no sound, althought ipod shows song is playing.  Any solutions?

I have a new Ipod Nano 7th Generation.  When I plug the earphones in, there is no sound coming from the earphones, even thought the Ipod shows the song as playing.  Any solutions?

And the Radio app probably doesn't work either.
The headphone jack on the nano is very tight when new. Push the jack all the way in, the plastic on the headset jack should be flush with the body of the nano.

  • IPod screen shows no songs after sync, but iTunes says they are there

After syncing my iPod to my iTunes, the menu on the iPod shows no songs. iTunes says they are there and so does Winamp, but I can't see them by navigating the menu.
The only things that changed since my last sync are some ratings and a new playlist.
This has happened to me before. Usually it is resolved by rebooting my PC to make sure the iPod drivers are loaded. I tried rebooting my iPod (holding down Menu and Select), but that didn't do it either. I would like to avoid having to wipe the iPod and re-copy everything. And since this has happened before, it will probably happen again.
I can't upgrade my iTunes to the latest version because Apple stopped releasing W2k versions. Thanks in advance.
    -Alan

I have that issue also. I ripped a few cd's, attached the ipod, synced it, but my libraries disappeared. "About" says there's 20+ gigs of something on there, but nothing in any menu. I scanned the ipod with Panda, no malware. I took the ipod to Geek Squad, and the Head Geek suggested reformatting from windows, and then reinstalling software with itunes. Did that, hour later, same situation. 20 gigs of nothing, even though itunes reported it had transferred over 6,000 mp3's. Ipod just isn't recognizing anything on it as music, but it worked fine up until the re-sync, and I hadn't done it for awhile, so I am now guessing there's a bug in the newest software, and it isn't a hardware issue at all.
On another note entirely, does anyone else find it strange that Apple's discussion page spell checker regards ipod and itunes as misspelled words?

  • I have a iPod nano 5th generation and there's a song I'm trying to play, but each time I click it from artist it just shows the songs name again. And when I try to click the song from the song list it just skips. How can I fix this?

Pretty much I have a song on my iPod 5th gen nano that doesn't wanna play, its just one song every other song works. I click it and it show the thing when a song is about to play but then it instantly goes back to where you click on the song. And when I click on it in the songs list it skips immediately to the next song on the list. I have tried restoring my iPod but the song still won't work I've also tried removing the song from the library and the putting it back on iTunes but still no luck. What do you guys suggest I do?

Can you play the song in iTunes?
If you can't the song file is probably corrupt and needs to be replaced.

  • Why won't my iPod work on iTunes or my computer?  It shows up (not on iTunes) and the iPod shows connected but it has to be "formatted." And why are half my songs unable to play on it anymore?  It just skips them!

I've read through several discussions and I've seen a lot of similar issues but none that were quite like mine.  Every time I plug my 3rd gen. iPod nano in it shows it connected on the iPod screen and iTunes opens up but the device does not show up in iTunes.  The icon on the iPod shows connected and gives the arrows circling showing syncing even though it still says connected.  But it won’t show up in iTunes.  It shows up on my windows computer but I can’t click it or make it do anything.  It keeps saying “You need to format the disk before you can do anything.”  And when I hit cancel it beeps and says "Location not available.  Dara error (cyclic redundancy check)."  As if I know what that means!!  And I have 800 songs on it but they aren’t all on my computer and some are on my parents’ computer but I can’t get to that one.  It shows it is a “FAT32” which I have no clue what that means but I’ve never noticed that before.
Windows "can't access the disk" and I don't know why.  It gives me that notification if I try to check the drive or disk or device for problems.  And if you click it on Windows it pops up a screen with formatting things (which I don't know anything about).  And then it closes and says that it CANNOT format the device.
The iPod works almost okay when it isn’t plugged in, but I’ve noticed that half my songs won’t play.  You click on it and it plays the next one in the album.  And it isn’t always the first song in an album but random songs.  And songs I listen to a lot.  You can’t go back (you can only go forward and you can’t skip over the ‘missing’ song) or even click to select those songs.  But other songs play normal, just not half of them that are on the iPod but all of a sudden no longer work.  And I don’t know why.  I have another 3rd gen. iPod nano that doesn’t have ANY of these problems.  It hooks up, it doesn’t need formatting, and all its songs play.  I don’t know what is wrong or what to do.  I’ve tried re-downloading iTunes and everything.  I don’t want to have to reset my iPod and lose everything.
I’ve tried locating the device in iTunes and it shows the iPod but it gives this weird symbol and I can’t select it.  It’s like a white box with a box that is outlined in blue with six random icons in the middle.   I’ve seen it before and it always means something is wrong or a file (which is where I have seen it before) is corrupted.  And like I said I have a second iPod nano of the same generation and it does not give this weird symbol.  Plus it connects just fine.  It’s this one iPod.
I don’t understand what is going on.  It worked just fine and then all of a sudden I noticed songs wouldn’t play so I went to plug it into iTunes and nothing has worked.  I’ve searched discussions and none of the tips help.  But I want my songs to play again and I want my iPod back.

I'm having a similar problem, but I do have the key and is not working anyway.
My old pc was running on windows 7 and my new one is an apple running on Lion.
My phone is an Iphone IV and I can see all the bookmarks there.
In order to sync, what I did was click on the "I don't have the device with me", I entered the key that was provided and the process finish ok. It says congratulations, etc, etc.
But the bookmarks are not there, I tried merging data and replacing data on this computer options but is the same.
    Any suggestions?
