IPod SHOWS in itunes but doesnt in "my computer"
I've been having trouble finding anyone who has had my issue: When I plug in to my computer, my ipod shows up in itunes just fine. It syncs, backs up, the works.
It does not, however, show up at all in My Computer. I bring my ipod to and from school more than my flash drive, but I can't use it as a regular usb if it never shows up. Any ideas?
Hmm... I have to correct myself here. The iPod touch and iPhone don't support disk use by default. But you can install software off the App Store that will let you use it for file storage.

I have a click-wheel iPod, and when I connect it to my computer, it opens iTunes and updates properly. It shows up in Finder too, but only until the iPod is finished updating. As soon as iTunes says the update is complete, the iPod icon disappears from the Finder. It is still in iTunes, however, and I can re-update it if i want to. The screen on the iPod changes from "Do not disconnect" to the regular charging screen, but it is still shown in iTunes, not the Finder, leaving me able to update the music, but unable to put any additional data on it. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Also, I have tried putting it in disk mode with the same results. It shows up for an instant, but then disappears.One possible cause is so simple that people miss it without realizing. Has the iPod been enabled for disk use in iTunes? Please note that this is not the same as putting your iPod into 'disk mode'. Your description makes it sound like it isn't, and I believe it is off by default, so I'll tell you how to enable it.
With iTunes open, and your iPod connected, go to Preferences in the iTunes menu, click the iPod tab, and (if it't not already selected) mark the box labeled 'enable disk use' (or something to that effect). Then, the iPod should mount on the desktop like a standard hard drive, and you can open it just like a normal drive. The iPod's needed files and your songs are all hidden from view so you don't accidentally move anything you shouldn't. -

I've done a search, but is nowhere to be found, but it is showing in itunes, how can i transfer my photos to pc from ipod?
So I read a few topics and I got links to these pages: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3195, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538. I followed the steps in the first article, but it didn't help. I also tried connecting my iPod to another PC but it did not show up there either.
I reinstalled iTunes like it said in the second article, but that did not help. The Apple Mobile Device USB driver also was installed and was working.
So would this be a problem with my USB cable then? -

Hi, I just recently purchased a 13' Macbook Pro w/ Retina. I also had a 64gb iPod Touch (5th Gen) for over a year now. When I connect my iPod to my Macbook, it opens in iTunes and even iPhoto, but it won't show in Devices.
If you're referring to the Finder sidebar, that's normal.

5th gen ipod recognized by itunes but not by my computer.
I wanted to add notes to my ipod but it's not showing up in 'my computer'. The ipod is still recognized in itunes and I can still add and remove songs.
Whenever I plug it in to the computer I a message that says
"Do you want to scan and fix ipod (:J)?
There might be a problem with some files on this device or disc. This can happen if you remove the device or disc before all files have been written to it."
When I click Scan and Fix it says "The disk check could not be peformed because Windows cannot access the disk."
I've completely removed and reinstalled itunes and reset my ipod multiple times. I can't tell you how many time I've gone through the 5 Rs.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? or If I can fix it? I have Windows Vista.Follow the instructions in this article.

Usually this happens when the device was improperly ejected from your PC.

I have tried everything re-installing itunes, changing leads, checking device manager and drivers, my computer recognises the iphone and does import photos, but no music.
I am getting really frustrated with this issue.Have you done all that?

So basicly I was trying to figure out on how to get all my album art back on my 160gb Ipod Classic. It showed in itunes but not on my ipod. My cover flow was full of Question marks. Having 140gb of music ir was fustrating manually putting it back on to each album. This happened a few months ago. So the 5 or 6gb of new music i put on since this happened is on my Ipod and show in my coverflow on my Ipod.
It came to a point where i had to leave my computer and noticed that my ipod was still in a synchnnizing stage and seemed like it was frozen. Having to leave the computer I had to unplug the ipod. By doing so, when i turned it on it said that i had no songs on my Ipod. When plugged into my itunes it also says no songs but at the bottom of the itunes screen it shows there is 140gb of "other Information" with 1.5 gb remaining but not music. I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder. I have had a few different computers since this new ipod has music from ages ago from an old 30gb classic and have transfered over the years on multiple computers (so restoring or syncing to this computer is out of the question). Thus all the ratings and playlist are very dear to me. Hundreds of hours invested in this ipod OVER 6 Years. It seems like there is some file missing or needed to link everything together.
I have spent endless hours trying many diffferent aproches. Like one forum said go into AL'S IPOD>IPOD CONTROL>ITUNES.. when in there they said to look for a file called ITunesDB and another called ITunesD8.old and switch them and rename ITunesD8.old_mlpmp but i only have the ituned DB not the ItunesDB.old

So i figure the problem started when i went into my control panel and chose show all hidden files so i can look at my files in the Ipod_control and was fooling around with the preference area by selecting the read only icon and disabling the hidden icon. I tried reversing this before ejecting my ipod but it was stuck in the Synchronizing do not disconnect mode and would not eject. Everytime i did try to eject it said in itunes with a yellow triangle saying " files or folders are in use in another area and cannot eject" even tho everyting has been closed......

Are you seeing your music listed in the iPod screen, or in Win explorer as in your earlier post?
I can see all the songs in my Edrive>al's Ipod> Ipod Control> Music folder.
A corrupted iPod database, will report zero music used, and have your music size reported as others, so you wont see the music in the iPod screen. Sorry, I thought there was some hope for you with iPodAccess, in recovery of the corrupted iPod database with your ratings.
You can try to borrow and use the Mac Disk Utility ->First Aid ->Repair.
Of course, if your iPod Hardisk is in a bad state, from the Disk Diagnostic report, then all my suggestion are futile. -
I restored my ipod touch to factory settings, i reimported my saved music library and they show in itunes, but there are no song on my ipod when i sync it and itunes is showing my ipod as previously named but it does not seem to be transferring to the device, help please

What happens when you try to sync?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

My Ipod touch screen has gone white with bright white spots on it. I have restored it and it shows in ITunes but the screen is still white. Is there anything I can do? The warranty has run out so I will have to pay for any repairs (if it can be repaired). Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

My ipod randomly deleted half my music last night. When I plugged it into my MBAir, all my music and playlist were showing on itunes but the were all flagged. what's happened and what do I do to fix this???? HELP!
It doesn't say anything. It runs through the sync process like normal and tells me all of the songs that it's synking. But then when it says I can disconnect it, nothing actually synked.

My iPod shows the itunes stor symbol with a connector going in to it - when I connect my iPod to my Apple Mac it asks me to enter my Apple id which I do - and then it asks me to enter on my iPod my passcode which of course I cannot do as my iPod is frozen - any advise would be helpful - thank you.
Place the iPod in Recovery mode and then connect to your computr and restore via iTunes.

First off, I'm using Windows XP (and Mac SnowLeopard) Here's how it started. For some reason my ipod started showing up as a camera when I plugged it in. It works fine in itunes, though. But when I tried to access it from "my computer" it only
showed me the one and only picture I had on my ipod. I deleted that picture hoping it would no longer show up as a camera. When it still did I right-clicked on it in "my computer" and selected "properties". Under "autoplay" I
chose for it to 'not show up' or 'take no action' or some such deal when I plugged it in. I thought that would stop it from popping up the window that asks whether i want to 'open camera wizard' or 'open camera scanning' or 'open folder to view files' or 'take
no action' , etc. But now it won't show up in "my computer" at all. I also have a Mac with SnowLeopard. When I plugged my ipod into it my ipod doesn't show up in "finder" either! So basically my problem is not a mechanical one with hardware
or software; yht ipod still works fine in itunes. I just need to undo the change I made. I've searched all around my preferences, utilities, options, etc. It shows up on my "Device Manager" but not on "Disk Management".

To show up in Windows Explorer, you can try placing the iPod into
disk mode.
Moreover, i recommend you to
restore ipod to factory settings.
If this issue still persists, locate to device manager, uninstall and reinstall USB Mass Storage Device driver.

When iPhone is connected to PC, it shows in itunes but Autoplay does not open for me to copy photos. I tried the Control Panel, changing Autoplay settings but no use. I use a Windows Vista. Please help! All my little ones' pictures are on my iPhone 3GS.
I tried hard reset on my iPhone. I tried restarting laptop and iPhone. I tried a different laptop. I tried removing driver and reinstalling from Device Manager but did not find a driver other than "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" which I heard shouldn't be uninstalled.
Anything I haven't tried?
